The best restaurants serving British food in North East

As usual, veggie all day breakfast was brilliant. Five stars. Always good quality and glamorgan veggie sausages. Love that they don't offer fake meat to vegetarians. Food is hot and fresh.

Always a lovely friendly welcome,lovely staff & has to be the best value for money breakfast you could get as well as being great quality & more than generous helpings, only place to go if you want a proper home cooked full English to start your day,delicious!!

Typical estate pub clean quick service

Fresh , tasty and served exquisitely. I've visited here several times and it's a beacon of quality and charm in amongst the over priced coffee chains and ' caffs' in the town centre centre. I had the mashed avocado with poached eggs . The bread was fresh and top quality and the avocado was fresh and generously prese.ted with two perfect poached eggs . The balsamic swirls and chilli flakes set it all off perfectly .

A beautiful setting with a pianist!! Friendly service and lovely drinks. Perfect for Saturday lunchtime!

We have been several times and as usual had Excellent service from the staff with fantastic food making it a wonderful experience. We will be returning again. S Breen.

Amistoso para celíacos. Tuve una gran comida. Su hijo es celíaco y no ha dejado de hablar del menú y su pollo al curry. Defo vuelve.

First time we had been. Beautiful service,a really pleasant girl served us .we ordered 2 egg mayonnaise sandwiches and two coffees. The coffee was beautiful and although the bread was lovely,both myself and my husband thought the sandwich filling was very sparse. More cucumber (which wasn't mentioned on the menu). It was disappointing

Great pub im a guiness drinker the extra stout is quite good if your a guiness drinker id recomend that crisps are nice snooker upstairs pool darts in the bar area downstairs staff very friendly highly recommend.

This place is fast becoming my guilty pressure! I LOVE a Sunday Roast and when my other half is at work, I have started frequenting here for my lunch. AMAZING food!!! I often had a stereotype of chain pubs being microwaved food - How wrong was I!?! Fresh veg, good cuts of meat and a very reasonable price tag! Christine and team - you are amazing at what you do! Keep up the hardworking! It has not gone unnoticed!

A welcoming place. Tables downstairs and upstairs. Toilet upstairs. There are public accessible toilets 200 yards away opposite the post office. Pancakes and fruit wow.

Staying locally so walked, large pub with great sun trap beer garden. Friendly service, decent pint of Guinness. Very dog friendly in the bar and garden, few water bowls provided. Had the biggest gammon steak I’ve ever eaten. Reasonably priced as well.

Food was nothing special, my wife didn't like the braised steak, had a funny taste, not off just not plain, as if cooked in too many herbs. I managed to eat it and she had my steak pie. Chips were frozen not fresh. Very expensive, bill over £30, fine for a meal for 2 with a pint in a pub but not in a cafe.

Llamaron a la hora del almuerzo y aunque estaba ocupado nos ofrecieron una mesa de inmediato Hemos estado aquí numerosas veces y cada vez el personal ha sido tan acogedor, amable y servicial. La comida era excelente como siempre. ¡Lo más difícil es decidir qué elegir del menú!

Table booked for 7.30pm. Pub very messy, no carvery left. Told a 45 minute wait for food. Cued at bar, staff member very friendly and helpful. I asked if they had any chicken dinners left, she said not sure, I'll check. She asked another staff member who listed things not available (chicken not among them). So I ordered 2 dinners and 2 drinks. 15 minutes later staff member came over to say no chicken dinners so had to re-order. Staff member not really bothered when I complained. Still waiting for food, not impressed! Won't come again!
