Fell upon this lovely little cafe at the bottom of the high street. Lovely helpful owner. Fantastic choice of cakes ,including loads of gluten free. Other food choice extensive. . If you go to Barnard castle it's a must to visit.

What a little gem this is! I was visiting my friend and decided to have lunch at this gorgeous cafe. From the moment we walked in, the staff couldn't do enough for us. We had my friends mum with us who is elderly and disabled, and were quickly seated at a table downstairs. The food was to die for (we all had Whitby Scampi!) and service was top notch. Can't wait to visit again!

Came here for lunch yesterday and had absolutely terrible service. The two Front of House servers were incredibly rude and had a very poor attitude. The waitress taking our order said "I've had enough today and want to go home" and didn't appear to know what was on the menu at all. Milkshakes are on the menu but we were told they don't do them. The card machine wasn't working, which we didn't find out until after we'd eaten, so my partner had to walk to Barclays at the end of the street to get cash out. The Korean BBQ brisket chips were terrible - undercooked, greasy and very sweet. The coffee was also made poorly. They've definitely lost our custom and from the previous reviews also referring to rude staff, I feel the manager should be reviewing their staff members or providing customer service training.

We had lunch here today, the staff were polite and friendly, service was great and the food was fantastic. We both had wraps - Korean BBQ Brisket and Coronation Chicken and they were delicious and very filling, both served with fresh salad and crisps. With a large pot of tea the bill was under £20, excellent value for such good quality food served in very nice surroundings. Highly recommended.

Fantastic find. Looks small from outside but plenty more seating upstairs. Our waitress was a lovely pleasant young girl who served with a smile. Such an asset to have friendly happy staff. We ordered a breakfast each and a large pot of tea. The food was cooked to perfection and was very tasty x

Haven't been to Barnard Castle in a while, went yesterday and had a lovely walk round . We saw No 3 and joined the queue, I spoke to a young waitress asking do we need to book a table , as never been before ? She was very polite and said no, but there is a bit of a wait, I said that's absolutely fine, when out of the blue, another waitress stormed past and shouted at me "you'll have to wait like everyone else" ????? what ???? all Id asked was do we need to book and I wasn't even talking to her ?? I felt so sorry for the young girl I was talking to as she didn't know where to look , the other lady perhaps needs to listen to what people are saying before snapping at them as no one had been complaining about wait times ?? hasten to add didn't wish to eat here and found a café nearby that couldn't of been more different. Pleasant staff and very welcoming !!

Called here for a snack, ordered corned beef and onion tostie, very thick bread and corned beef was incredibly thin very disappointing my wife had a scone which was heated from cold and totally ruined the taste, tea was nice but wouldn't recommend.

A really good lunch here. A good and varied menu. I enjoyed the hunters chicken with chips and coleslaw. The chips were very nicely cooked. We also had the chilli and the ham and eggs. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Lovely staff and prompt efficient service. We will definitely return.

We have been here lot's of times it is our favourite place in Barnard Castle the staff are always friendly help full As my son is in a wheelchair they always go above and beyond

Found this little place after we had walked the entire town shopping and needed a little snack and a drink. Ample seating outside thankfully as it was very hot although there were many tables inside if we had wanted to go in. We had sat for a little while then realised it wasnt table service but that was just a misunderstanding on our part. The service was excellent, the waitresses were all very pleasant and made us feel welcomed. Plenty of choice on the menu for whatever we wanted and at reasonable prices too. We had a lovely fresh scone with jam and clotted cream it hit the spot perfectly. We also had a latte which was warm and the coffee tasted lovely not too weak nor not too strong just perfect for us. The premises both inside and out was clean especially the toilets (which were upstairs), I think you can tell alot about an establishment if the toilets are clean and tidy. I would definitely come back if I am visiting this area again.

Beware of being upsold. We ordered an Americano coffee which was priced at £2.50. (It was served with a small jug of milk that was not wanted.) The price of this coffee on the final bill was £2.70. When we quiered the price we were told that £2.50 was for a "small coffee" but they always serve "regular coffee" without offering the customer the choice beforehand. - Sharp Practice!

Upon arrival we waited at the door to be seated. 2 free tables by the front door by the window so asked if we could sit in window… the owner said no there is plates on it?! I asked if they could be moved and he said no again, pointing at another table. I asked again if the plates on the table in the window could be moved and he said no again. I said to my partner let’s go as poor customer service. The owner followed me out onto the street, grabbed my shoulder and was being very aggressive confrontational and threatening. Normally good food here but the lack of customer service means myself, friends and family will never return. Totally unprofessional :(

Week's holiday in August in Barnard Castle - visited this cafe on three occasions. Staff always very helpful and polite, very safe control measures for COVID and delicious food. Unfortunately not all members of the public were very patient and took it out on the staff. To the credit of the team they took it in good grace. Come on people - they've not made the rules! They are following safety guidance and keeping customers and their staff safe. #spreadkindnessnotcovid.

We recently stayed in a holiday home near Barnard Castle and visited this place for a a bite to eat. The food was reasonably priced and decent enough but the attitude of some staff let this place down. When I went in to place my order a member of staff was complaining that people could not hear her shouting that their order was ready (she was inside and they were outside in a busy street) she said "sometimes I get really sick of working here" which didnt make for a good first impression. Also, I'm pretty sure you shouldnt be shouting and spraying god knows what all over the place. I placed my order and went outside but realised the others had received their drinks before their food so I politely asked if I could have mine too as the kids were thirsty. She said " yes if you'll wait til I'm done"...it wasnt how she said it but the rude abrupt look on her face made me cringe. It was completely unnecessary and just made me want to leave as quick as possible.

The food is consistently delicious, the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the service is friendly and efficient. What more could you ask for in a locally-owned restaurant?
