Absolutely fantastic service from all of the staff working. First England game of the Euros and venue was busy. All social distancing measures adhered to by the staff and amazing service even in the sweltering heat. Lisa and Paige and all others working made sure no customers wanted for anything. Regularly checking if drinks were required even though the greene king app is easily available to anyone using their phone. Outstanding service. The curried chips are lovely to pick at too. Thank you all

Booked a meal for the evening of the 30th May, when we arrived we were told that meals had stopped being served earlier. The staff were very apologetic and asked for my contact details. I rec’d a call from Joy (kitchen manager) who offered my husband and I a free meal and bottle of wine to make up for the inconvenience caused. We booked the meal for the 12th June (yesterday) and we were very impressed by the attention we rec’d. This type of customer care is, unfortunately, very rare these days. Well done to Joy and her staff.

Visited The gunner for drinks , absolutely perfect, we couldn’t have asked for more. It feels very Covid safe ( test n trace on entering , one way system & table service ) We had a table booked. Service was friendly and efficient, Jenny, Lisa & John Paul all a absolute credit to the pub, great menu.We’ve booked a Xmas meal as we were so impressed.Thank you to all of the staff for making us feel safe & welcome :- )

Been a few times to The Gunner since lockdown ended and can truly say that they deserve top marks for keeping the experience safe and pleasant. Proper safety measures are in place and are enforced, seperate entrance and exit, table service, no loitering at the bar, masks to be worn when moving around, all staff wearing ppe, tables sterilized after use, sanitizer provided, contactless payment encouraged, staff are courteous and hard working the list goes on and on lol. WELL DONE TEAM GUNNER !!!!

Great service and food, and the pub felt very safe and clean. Staff enforced social distancing rules but still kept a relaxed atmosphere.

as ever, the Gunner never fails to bring you smashing food in a lovely local pub. You get exactly what you pay for. Great choices and staff. Always friendly and especially at this time with the virus they tell you exactly what you have to do to keep you and the staff safe. Can't recommend it highly enough. Make sure you have a couple of extra holes in your belt!!

Popped in for a meal today,food was nice, served quickly by the lovely staff, good choice of menu, reasonably priced.

Yet another lovely meal can reccomend the burgers and steaks staff are both efficient n friendly under difficult times.

We had no booking; but were quickly welcomed by Joy;drinks served very quick followed by our meal.The staff worked very hard and I fully recommend a visit.We had a lovely evening in clean and welcoming surroundings,all Covid safe.We had table service as I didn’t want to use an app and that wasn’t a problem for the staff unlike other pubs who demand you use an app.Overall a lovely time was had by all.we will return very soon to support this lovely local pub.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I just have to leave a little review to say thank you to John Paul for his fantastic service on Saturday. He was a perfect host. Polite, bubbly and had a great vibe with a constant smile. In fact all the the staff I interacted with were lovely and are doing a smashing job in these unusual times.

Had a great experience today in the Gunner. Visited with my parents for food and drinks. When we arrived Christine explained to us about how they were managing covid. Was really clear and service throughout was excellent. Made us feel really welcome and table service was quick. Good value as always.

Loved my visit after work :) the staff are all over the covid-19 situation great safe environment couldn't fault them in any way whatsoever i really appreciated the dedication to keeping everyone happy and safe ! Good show highly recommend was very impressed top notch !

The Gunner has a nice environment. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The drinks aren’t very expensive and the staff area friendly.

Nice and friendly food great value for money no waiting time for food, clean and tidy pub.loads of gin to choose from and in ited to a afternoon social.

This pub puts its self out for the local regulars ,today Christmas party for the kids £2 and there was good entertainment all the little ones up dancing loads of games food and drinks really good afternoon,thanks to Will &Joy and all the staff .

Just ate the most delicious Sunday roast meat n veg cooked to perfection Yorkshire pud filled with stuffing well worth a visit 😄😁

Great pub in Shields. Cheap scran (believe its a new menu this month) always good value and friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Highly recommend it. Best place in shields to watch sports

At the Gunner there were 7 of us for lunch and drinks , Christine the assistant manager was on the bar and also serving on tables with Beth also with her. We had a mix of meals from mixed grills to burgers and Sunday roasts all of us enjoyed the food and drinks , every thing including the service was excellent.

Visited today with friends for Sunday lunch so embarrassed as i recommend to go there dont get me wrong lovely pub friendly staff but food is well below standard the quality of the food was what i would of expected from a greasy spoon cafe was over microwaved waterey gravy rubberey yorksire pudding rubbery chicken and stuffing was just wet mush aswell as mash potato

Great night at the Gunner good karaoke some great music and a few good singers,Will and Kris on the bar good night had by all

My Partner and i went here for a few drinks after work as we were in the area, and i must say what a lovely place it is, The atmosphere was brill, relaxed and comfortable, the staff are amazing. and a credit to there manager, we ended up staying for food and we were really impressed with the quality and portion size and it was delicious. all in all you have made a regular customer out of me, thanks for a wonderful evening

My son and daughter in law took me to the Gunner for lunch on Sunday, we were welcomed by Will and Christine Will offered my son and myself a Father’s Day whisky, Christine showed us to our table there was a bar of chocolate and a scratch card for the fathers ,a nice touch off Will and Joy. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service was great by all the staff.

We always come to the gunner on a regular basis, the reason being is the staff are lovely, the food is delicious. Today we came for Father’s Day as we do every year for Mother’s Day also. The staff and management are lovely and can’t do enough for you. They always make an extreme effort. Today all of the dads got a tot of whiskey, bar of chocolate & a scratch card! Fabulous afternoon at the Gunner. Made to feel very welcome, and all needs catered for. Children made a fuss of, entertained, fed, and even came home with goodies.

Brilliant afternoon at the gunner Easter party! Kids thoroughly enjoyed it,so much entertainment and loads of crafts and prizes,even provided packed lunches and an Easter egg on leaving! Brilliant value! Defo be returning! Thanks gunner!!!!

We stopped for lunch mid-week. The large lounge has large screen TVs on every wall, all showing football or horse racing - obviously a popular place for local sport-followers almost all of whom were men at the time of our visit. Despite the number of TVs, the background noise level was not intrusive and we enjoyed a conversation over our meal.

Great customer service and very friendly.... the food was amazing be definitely going again.... it was a great atmosphere and the menu was great to choose from....

We took our elderly mother to The Gunner for a mothers day meal. My mother is in a wheelchair and this pub has excellent access. The tables had been decorated and when we arrived chocolates were placed on the table. We ordered our meals and as we arrived all of the ladies were given raffle tickets to win a magnum of prosecco, a very nice touch. We ordered a variety of meals from burgers to scampi and Sunday dinner all of which were very nice. During the meal our server brought complimentary small bottles of prosecco for each lady and after the meal they gave bunches of daffodils. These little touches were extremely thoughtful and made the day very special. Overall the service was fantastic and all of the staff went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. Our mother had a fantastic time and we will definitely be back.

The gunner always has a good selection of sports on their many screens. The food is great, large portions and fair prices. Huge range of drinks to choose from. Couldn't ask for more out of a local.

My dad likes it and I love him. And I like the chips and toys (written by Ruby, 6 years old). The bar staff are very friendly and I love mam!

5 of us out for Sunday lunch all but 1 had Sunday roast, excellent value at £9.99 for two. Service at the bar and at the table first class .The manager Will was on the bar and Christine on tables. Drinks and food all very good.

We have been to the gunner 3times and it will not be the last.the staff are brilliant and the food is spot on.

Large family meal 14 of us . Served on the bar by Will the manager ,we had areal mix of meals off the menu . The service at the bar and at the table was excellent couldn’t have been more helpful. Christine was on table duty after serving came back to check all was well.

Christmas lunch with family n friends at the Gunner food was fantastic the staff worked tirelessly our table was set beautifully with crackers and kids got a selection box n complimentary Buck’s Fizz for adults absolutely superb thank you so much for making our Christmas Day

Once again a big thank you to all at the gunner for putting on a great Xmas party! The kids really enjoyed themselves. The staff at the gunner always go that extra mile to make sure the kids have a great time. The kids had food, and entertainer and also got meet Santa! Can’t thank yous enough.

We booked a table for 10 for Xmas dinner family get together. We arrived and all was set up ready for us. staff were friendly and approachable,making us feel very welcome. We had our meal which was all pre -ordered. The meal was lovely and the fresh veggies delicious. Would recommend this pub for the friendly good value for money and welcoming attitude of the staff during our night out.

cold and wet outside so we called into the Gunner for our lunch we where met by the lady behind the bar with a welcoming smile started to feel better already ,warm comfortable surroundings with Christmas decorations adding to the atmosphere. Ordered our meals both had the gammon steaks arrived in a good time and hot and tasty,cleared the plate.The lady came to our table on two occasions the make sure everything was to our satisfaction, which it was no problems at all. thank you we will be back

Went with friends thought we'd have the steaks what no steaks ok the pasta what no pasta ok fish and chips no,so we ended up with ham egg and chips hunters chicken loaded chicken.so in terms of enjoyment it was a fail.wont go again

There were 8 of us for lunch the bar was quite busy , Will the manager took our order we all ordered something different from the menu . We were served quite quickly even though it was busy , Christine served us quickly and very pleasantly nothing was a bother ,food and drinks were excellent, Joy Wills wife came to check all was well as it was.

Having lived in North Shields for only a year we have adopted the Gunner as our local, Joy & Will & the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and the food is always spot on whether it’s a bowl

No heating no tv working service very poor. whilst manager sits at end of bar drinking and ignoring clients complaints.h

We like this pub and food. We enjoy the lack of theme...pretention. It's a pub, with warmth, reasonable prices ..regulars and mist importantly... brilliant staff, pub staff, woh know their trade. It's a pub to stroll down to for reasonably priced drinks and nicely cooked, ordinary food. The staff are excellent... overall nothing pretentious and a traditional feel....mixed clientele says it all

Once again the Gunner put on an excellent party for the kids. A big thank you to all the staff my little boy and his little cousin had the best time. The tickets were free but the manager & manageress always go that extra mile, there was a kids entertainer they got food, a drink, cakes and also a big bag of sweets at the end. Thank you once again.

The Gunner is our local pub so it was great that they had a Halloween party on for the kids to enjoy. A magician with balloons and tricks was very entertaining along with complimentary food, drinks and sweets for the children! It's a lovely pub, great atmosphere and nice food. Staff are very friendly. Highly recommend!

Gunners new menu started on Wednesday 10th had to try it, quite busy hard to decide what to have ,opted for 11oz ribeye steak couldn’t have made a better choice, service was spot on staff couldn’t do enough to help , lm wondering what to have next time.

Went along to the gunner for the new menu. Loved the return of the criss cross a god send. Even managed to get myself a new balloon arch for the brains birthday on the weekend.

We all had a great time,the dj was very professional and his joe pasquale voice had everyone amused.My self and my wife and son had a great meal and over all i could not fault anything i would recommend the Gunner Pub to anyone, We will be back again.

Good after noon at the Gunner watching Newcastle play pity they lost, great atmosphere as always. Had a nice steak served by Lisa a very pleasant member of staff mind all the staff and management go out of their way to be helpful.

I had family due to visit and The Gunner is the nearest eating pub to my home. It seemed reasonable that we should eat there to save my wife needing to cook.

I discovered this pub chain restaurant by happy chance when visiting North Shields with a friend in early May. I found the relaxed atmosphere & bar staff pleasant & ordered cheeseburger, skinny fries & salad which was very reasonably priced & arrived within 15 minutes & tasted just as good as it looked & would happily visit again next time I'm in the vicinity.

Have visited this pub a couple of times recently, great value. The food is cheap but the portions are good. Nice atmosphere will defiantly visit again.

Well, working up here for a few days and found this wee place. Parking for 7 cars plus one disabled park so be aware if driving. I was luck and found a park 1 block away. Hottest day in April since 1949 so as expected the place was rammed, noisy and staff overworked..so I had little expectations as though the kitchen staff would be banging food out at a fast pace, also knew I was in for a long wait as there was barely room to stand and I was extremely lucky to get a table just as the previous customer left .Well, I was wrong, staff, both serving and table service, were efficient, friendly and quick..I also didn't have to wait that long for my meals..which were cooked to perfection and sooo yummy..as I sit in my van typing this out in my ph I realise I forgot to wait for my dessert.. :( Apple crumble with custard..oh no..ah Well, the meals I ordered (2 as I missed lunch and was starving) were so large I would have been really pushing to have managed dessert anyway..sniff sniff..ah Well, I'll be back for Brunch and then dinner for tomorrow and again Monday and Tuesday.. then it's off down south again..Well done to the Management, waiting staff and kitchen staff etc..You all did a Top job to keep things running that smooth on the hottest (and most rammed) day of the year so far)

Visited with my family today, we received a warm welcome from all staff. They were all very attentive and accommodating to various requests. We ordered a mixture of starters, mains and desserts from a fairly extensive menu. Food arrived quickly, portions were very generous and it all tasted great!! We will definitely be returning

Out for a mother’s day meal, my son his wife son wife’s mother and myself , a loverly afternoon excellent service and really good food ,staff excellent Christine and louise on table service and Will the manager and Mark on bar could not have been better.

We came here this evening to enjoy a meal and a drink with my daughter for a belated mothers day meal. The staff were very welcomed especially the lady that was on shift behind the bar, the food was very prompt we had only been sat about 10 minutes and it arrived, food was delicious and so was dessert, would recommend to everyone I know who likes to eat and drink .

Whenever we go to the gunner which is on a regular bases they always go that extra mile! Today we went for Mother’s Day lunch! All mother got a glass of Buck’s Fizz and a box of Lindor Lindt chocolates! (My fave). The staff are always lovely and my little 3 year old boy loves going in because they always make such a fuss. Would always recommend the gunner if you were wanting a couple of beers or a nice family meal. The food we had was lovely!

Myself my wife and son had Xmas lunch today and from the starter main and pudding it was absolutely fantastic every course was faultless and we all had a fantastic meal the food was excellent the staff were excellent and the whole experience was excellent we will definitely be booking again for next year. We enjoyed food and excellent service by Christine at our group Christmas lunch today. The food was well presented, great sized portions and very tasty from starters through main meal to puddings and coffee. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff attitude us CAN DO.!

Went for a meal and drinks with friends. The staff was so friendly and you had a gpod laugh with them. Just what you want when you go to a pub. The food was great and so was the atmosphere. Highly recommended this pub.

Recently visited with friends. Had one the new burgers off the americian range. Was a juicy tasty burger with chilli con carne on top. The jalepenos toppers are a must try for only a pound.

Nice family/friendly pub with lovely staff who are always willing to attend to your needs, definitely will return.

Came in at lunchtime for a quick family meal. Good choice of menu, all at good prices, with a range of offers to reduce the price further. Food quality was excellent, piping hot and well cooked. Lounge is large with a variety of seating choice. There is a range of Greene King beer. Highly recommended.
