Our first visit here and we are very impressed at how well organised it's run by lovely friendly staff. Very clean and tidy and they have a good choice of food and yummy cakes to tempt you. The food is great, well presented and plenty of it too. We can't fault anything it's a lovely place to have a breakfast, lunch or a Sunday meal, will be back again soon to try out our more homecooked meals and some cake.Well done 68 Cafe.

Eating an expensive breakfast while having other customers forced to stand an inch from our table, backsides inches from us, as a procession of people were trying to pay and order their meals before they can eat, took away any pleasure that could have been had for a chat over breakfast Was a lovely place for a breakfast once, however the last time we went the staff were obviously overwhelmed Maybe they could look at how a successful café treat their customers by seating them and ordering from the tables not making people queue in type of school dinner line.

Situated on the site of the country glamping pods this cafe is perfectly suited to campers and travellers alike. What I noticed was that the cafe was always busy no matter the time of day. It has a friendly atmosphere with staff that are very polite and attentive. The food was good and lived up to the profile of what the cafe was and who it's aimed at. Granted you won't get bistro quality food but you will get good solid cafe food. Without being over priced you should feel satisfied and not out of pocket. I'd recommend the beef and gravy sandwich with chips!

Visited here on Sunday afternoon for a refreshment stop on the way to our destination. Cafe very busy and they had a lot of staff working. We got served quickly however there was a lack of cakes on display. We ordered 2 hot drinks and 2 slices of cake. The drinks came out first and these were only luke warm and 5 minutes later our cakes followed. Cakes were nice but it would of been better to have these with our drinks. Toilets were dirty and could do with a good clean. Definitely gone downhill from the last time we visited two years ago.

Been here before and got a decent meal friendly staff. Unfortunately this was not the case this time. Staff curt and down right rude. Ordered pensioners meals got grisly mince and stodgy dumplings. The pudding was cornflake tart. This had been microwaved so pastry was soggy. The older male server was just rude and not interested. The toilet was dirty and when reported staff just shrugged. The car park spaces are very tight but this doesn’t really matter as was empty probably due to the quality of the food.

We were a party of 8, and we had booked as the Cafe is very popular and gets very busy. The food was well cooked, hot and plentiful, 1 had Scampi, 2 people had Beef and the rest had turkey. We were given lots of extra gravy and plenty of sauces. The beef was so tender, it melted in the mouth. Several of us had puddings. Fabulous service nothing was too much trouble.

There was ample room for car parking. We did not book a table but I think it will be advisable when the weather is warm and dry as the cafe is at the side of a main holiday route. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were allocated a table by a waiter who took our drink and meal orders. The drinks soon arrived. Our order was for the small breakfast meal. I was surprised how quickly we received our meals I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. There was a steady trickle of visitors many ordered the small breakfast. I noticed glamping sites at the back of the cafe.

We have eaten at the cafe previously & were quite satisfied. Obviously been lots of investment in the site ,Glamping etc ,which is a good facility with ample parking. On Arrival we were met at the door by young man who advised which table was vacant.Req training as a greeter ie social skills. Menu presentation different from previously plus specials. We ordered 2 small Sunday lunches & the counter staff member tried to charge for large! ,again no social skills!! If you choose to work in a service workplace you need to converse The lunch arrived minus roast pots & parsnips as advertised!! I asked for & had to wait but never received parsnips.Peas cold & undercooked & meal generally lukewarm temperature. Not impressed ,not a friendly atmosphere as previously & I suspect a change of Ownership or Management.Lot of Staff but lack of Welcome. Disappointed ,most definitely & sad that this cafe has been rebuilt & is located in a great spot for business but no Feel Good factor!!!

First time I've ever been here. Very easy to find, stunning views from the hill top. This Cafe is easy access for all and disability friendly. Upon arrival, the staff are friendly, welcoming and kind. We were taken to our table and asked to place our orders at the counter. Of course, this is surrounded by a vast array of eye catching, sweet treats 😍. We received very fast service. The staff were very accommodating, approachable and helpful. We ordered two Standard English Breakfasts - seriously cannot fault it. Bacon, sausage, egg, beans, mushrooms and a choice of toast or fried bread as standard. Really nice, fresh breakfast that's set us up for the day. As expected, we couldn't possibly leave without checking out all of those lovely buns, cakes and scones! And we left with chocolate cakes and coconut sponges. Incredible! We will most certainly be back again! We both rate this place 9/10 across the board. Areas of improvement - 1: The menus are under the glass table top, I had the breakfast menu whilst my wife had the mains - so that was a bit tricky. Great idea but not very easy to read upside-down. 2. I asked for breakfast without mushrooms, the waiting staff suggested the chef may make the items up with additional alternative I.e. extra egg. But this wasn't the case. Saying that, it was plenty enough for me to eat, I certainly didn't leave hungry! 3. The wife was hoping for a 'pot of tea' not a cup, but she thinks she's 'just being picky'. On the whole, a very pleasant experience and we will most certainly be back and recommend this place to others. Thank you team 68! Impressive job, very well done!

Had been told good things about A68 Cafe so thought we'd give it a go. Upon entering youre met with numerous covid/hand san signs and instructions...yet tables arent cleaned down to a standard that matches such hygenic instruction. Was met with a rushed greeting and asked to wait whilst another lady cleaned the table (she wasnt, she was talking to the table next to it), left us stood cluttering the main doorway. After spending 5mins there finally seated (with the table cleaning lady still stood at our table talking). Picked out meals off menu's under the glass which is how the cleaning standard was truly noticed, then up to order, nearly £40 later for 2 meals and kids meal. Atmosphere in the place is strange, hard to pinpoint but it wasnt a 'this is nice' feel. Meals arrived, lumpy mash (worse than school), over cooked sausages, 2 button mushrooms (on their 'BIG' breakfast), fatty and salty bacon, cheap watery beans that were like bullets. Overall really really poor and bland tasting food, especially given the meals ordered - they should be the bread and butter of such a place. Really disappointing.

This café *had* bthe most amazing views, which was a large part of the attraction for me. Unfortunately the amazing view is now blocked by two enormous dark night observatories (these should have been located at the back of the café, as people will be looking at the sky at night, so land views not required, I would have thought). The front outdoor seating area now has views of the cars. The seating area at the other side (no views) is right next to the kitchen extractor outlet, with associated smells, etc. What a shame, as staff are lovely, as is the food.

On a lovely sunny day we called in for a coffee and something to eat, the cafe has a large tent with seating so no one allowed inside to eat which is fair enough in the present climate, to enter just to use the toilet your temperature is taken you have to wear a face covering and use the sanitiser so having queued for the toilet whilst hubby ordered we then waited and waited finished our coffee and still we waited for the food order nothing elaborate a piece of toast and a bacon bun in the time we sat waiting I could have roasted a whole pig, gentle reminder to one of the staff as he served people who arrived well after us the response they are having cake. I was all ready to leave at this point but hubby was happy to give it a bit longer perhaps he was expecting the best bacon bun ever sadly he was to be disappointed because when the gent was serving the other table I asked again if our order wasn’t ready could we cancel having waited almost an hour he went inside then sent a young woman out with a refund no apology no explanation all she could say was the order must have got lost yet the same girl served our coffee brought out the napkins cutlery sauce and jam for the elusive toast. So we won’t stop here again we are probably not your kind of customer, although I’m not sure what the ideal customer is. Final thing to put me off personally I don’t agree with dogs being allowed where people are eating there were two dogs on this visit also allowing people to smoke right outside the door where the cake counter is not hygienic. Looks lovely on the surface with spectacular views but service enough to put me off.

When we travel to Scotland our holiday is never properly complete until we visit the 68 Cafe. Prior to Covid this was a very small cafe and as such we were very interested to see how the cafe would adapt to the conditions during the midst of a global pandemic and personally I feel they have really succeeded. Every single thing was very well considered right from the start including a hole where you would order your meal and menus not too far away to decide what you wanted. Once ordered you were then given a number for your order meal and were asked to sit in a marquee that had loads of room to social distance and included hand santisers. Now I'm aware that for many there are issues with the fact that tin containers are used to eat your meal instead of plates but these worked well as they could be disposed after being used. The staff were kind in asking if we wanted them to handle our food and it was hot and fresh. When attending the toilet it was safe and well organised. As usual the food was great but testament goes to the staff working at the 68 Cafe. We were really impressed by the service and the way you handled social distancing.

Travelling south and called in for breakfast at about 10:30am on Saturday. The sausage was rank, probably the cheapest sausage they could find, don't think it had seen a pig, tasted like it had been cooked days ago and then reheated. The egg was over cooked to the point that it was solid and chewy. The bacon was under cooked, the fat was still raw. Then to top it all it was served in a tin foil carton with a blunt wooden knife and fork. It was like going back to the stone age. These people have no idea about buying decent ingredients, cooking or how to present food. Give the 68 cafe a wide berth.

Food is very good, and cheap. Mainly English. Lots of it and very filling! Breakfasts are especially good. Many people stop off on their way down the A68 as it is only place to eat for some miles. We live nearby so mainly go for coffee and cakes which are yum and lots to choose from! Staff are very helpful and friendly. Lovely views across the valley! Only down side is dogs are not allowed, so tend to only go when weather is good as have to sit outside. Cant do that when its blowing a gale!!

We’re travelling up and down the A68 a lot as we’re in the process of moving to the area. We look forward to our English breakfasts, very well cooked and the perfect size. It’s clear that many of the customers are local and look forward to their regular visits. The staff are very efficient and friendly. One thing we haven’t tried is the selection of cakes, but looking forward to afternoon tea once we’re settled in the area!

Called in for lunches or drinks on several occasions when travelling the A68 between the A1 and Corbridge to visit relatives. The tea and coffee is good as is the light snacks such a paninis, sandwiches or cakes all at excellent prices - great northern value. It is very popular with locals and visitors positioned high up with amazing views. The staff are efficient, smart and very friendly.

1st visit here and will certainly be back. Very nice bacon sandwich and a pot of tea. The young man who served us was extremely pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Very clean and nicely decorated. Keep up the good work.

Ideally situated for us en route to/from Scotland.Set in lovely countryside but right by the A68 and with a small but good car park.A popular place because it always seems to be busy. This time we stopped late morning and had coffee and bacon/sausage sandwiches - delicious and plenty of filling. The staff are very friendly and efficient. It will become a regular stopping place for us on our many trips to visit family in Edinburgh

Extensive menu with specials board. All reasonably priced. Restaurant was full at lunchtime on a Friday showing how popular this roadside restaurant is. Service was quick and staff friendly. Restaurant was clean. Food was delicious. Would recommend detouring (as we did) to visit.

We arrived just as it was getting busy on bank holiday Saturday morning. Ordering two full English to set us up for the day ahead. Fantastic fresh produce. The bacon, sausage and eggs were all ofexcellent quality and cooked to perfection. We sat out in the lovely garden. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The toilets were spotless. I'm not surprised it was so busy. Thank you for a lovely breakfast

Stopped here on the way south from Scotland. Great lunch, generous portions, very good quality. Friendly staff, the place is very clean and well organised. Nice toilets to boot! All items on the menu are freshly made so, depending on what you order, you may have to wait a short while. Well worth a stop and thoroughly recommended.

My dad and I called I today on the off chance. We have been commenting that we have quite literally been past here many thousands of times when travelling to see family. Why have we not stopped here before? The car park was packed but the cafe has loads of room. Waiting at he till to order food and pay is a bit of a ball

Lovely bakers and coffee shop, Lattes were really good and the gluten free carrot cake was amazing. When you have coeliac you can’t always find somewhere that provides gluten free especially in small villages but I would definitely recommend Peggotty’s! We’ll be back.
