Fresh , tasty and served exquisitely. I've visited here several times and it's a beacon of quality and charm in amongst the over priced coffee chains and ' caffs' in the town centre centre. I had the mashed avocado with poached eggs . The bread was fresh and top quality and the avocado was fresh and generously prese.ted with two perfect poached eggs . The balsamic swirls and chilli flakes set it all off perfectly .

One of my favourite cafés, brilliant staff who are really helpful if you have any allergies/intolerances. They have a massive selection of teas but also lots of other options if you don't like tea. But most importantly they have some absolutely gorgeous cakes, I can't stress this enough I brought some work colleagues in who were visiting from London and they absolutely loved everything they had, particularly the cake!

We popped in here for lunch by chance when travelling to watch Coventry play Middlesbrough (the cafe is 20 minute stroll to the Riverside). The staff were very friendly and the cafe was spotlessly clean and nicely laid out. The cafe has lots of charm character and also has a nice laid back homely feel. We ordered lunch off the menu and the food was amazing and very reasonably priced. The afternoon tea looked fantastic, so I hope we will be able to visit again soon! A lovely independent cafe and a must visit in Middlesbrough. Thank you for your hospitality and excellent food. The Warner family.

When I am in Middlesbrough I often stop at Baker Street for lunch. I was passing the Tea House and thought I’d try it for a change. Very impressed! My avocado and egg on toast was perfect. The panini for my mother seemed really good. Tea for me and a latte for her. Staff friendly, helpful and pleasant. Clean, good food - will definitely be back.

Collectively, we decided on a malteaser and peanut butter chocolate cake, and honestly, I was so sad when we finished it because it was so delicious. The tea house looks very attractive, distinctive and independent.I dropped in at 11 on 5/03/2020 for brunch.Lovely service and help making sure that the bread was milk free.I ordered an americano and avocado on toast with a poached egg.Coffee was lovely. The food arrived. I was surprised to find that the bread hadn’t been toasted and the plate was icy cold.I pointed this out and the lady explained that some clients don’t want their bread too hard. The bread hadn’t seen a toaster, cold and limp. She went back into the kitchen.A little while later she came back for the plate of food. Then she returned with the old food transferred to a warm plate and a seperate plate with toast on.I moved the toppings myself to the toast on the warm plate. By now the egg was lukewarm (at best) and I had finished the coffee.I noticed that the waitress/cashier had same blue gloves on at all times I was there.Another member of staff arrived and dragged her scooter through the dining space. How they got Trip Advisor awards is beyond me. Obviously a different chef and staff.

We had a stop here in between some sales shopping earlier in the month. There is a good range of lunch type food (one of us had an omelette which was a good size portion), a choice of several cakes (the Victoria sponge was delicious), a vast range of teas, but in my opinion the hot chocolate was the star of the show-it was smooth, and rich, and completely chocolatey (not just hot brown water like you can get in some cafes).

This place has an amazing array of teas to choose from on display and to purchase. You cane even get tea strainers etc to go with it. I had a Halloween spiced tea and it was delicious. Very chai like. Also had a slice of vanilla cake which was an absolute dream. Fresh, moist and tasty. The tea room has nice decor and is cosy. It's always busy which is a good sign. Prices are reasonable/average. Service was quick. I'd been twice before but when it was under the name of old young tea room or something. Not sure of it's changed hands as decor and teas were there on previous visits. Either way its been a lovely place for cake and tea everytime I've been so if it has changed hands there has been no drop in service. It's quite small so not much space and if you want to view the teas can feel a bit awkward if people are sat in front of them but due to size it's the only way it can be done. Wheelchair accessible.

We went for afternoon tea for my mother's birthday. We have had afternoon tea here on numerous occasions under the old owners. The menu description hasn't changed but the price has increased by 30% from & 10 to £13,and the size, presentation and quality has gone down. Couldn't complain about the cake and tea, both were delicious, but the sconr was, cold, dry and hard and did it not come with all advertised toppings. The sandwiches were terrible, extremely meagre. I ordered cheese and chutney which had a smear of chutney on each of the squares and a very thin shaving of cheese, and a scraping of cheap margarine. The bread, cheese and chutney were delicious but they were just very stingy portions and poorly presented. Really disappointed as they were always fabulous when we've had them in the past

Went here with 2 friends and two people out of three ordered afternoon tea. Unfortunately, they weren't able to use the unlimited drinks stated on the menu, due to the third person not ordering the afternoon tea. The staff specified that this was because they couldn't monitor the drinks - and we 'could be sharing'. However, this was not specified before payment was taken and was not on the menu or on any sign in the shop. As the items would be cheaper individually, the whole selling point of afternoon tea is the unlimited drinks, which we were not allowed. This is akin to nandos not letting people on a table have unlimited drinks because one member of the party only wanted water!

Visited this lovely little Tea shop with my daughter last Sunday and it was wonderful as always; to be fair we have visited many times but this was the first time on a Sunday. It was a lovely quiet atmosphere and we were seated immediately. Sandwiches were fresh made and delicious, served with a small portion of hand cooked crisps and a pot of Yorkshire tea. As we were served tea, one of the lovely tea ladies told us about other decaf varieties and let us smell them all. Such a lovely tea shop serving lovely fresh sandwiches and an array of delicious looking cakes. My only criticism would be that I would like to see the cakes and scones covered as they are so close to everyone that comes to the till. Definitely worth a visit

We were shown to a table and then a lovely enthusiastic member of staff talked us through the teas letting us sniff lots and giving recommendations. We were made to feel really welcomed and relaxed. Once we decided on our tea, which is difficult, we selected cake. There was plenty of choice, even for my girlfriend who is dairy intolerant. As a vegan, I can still happily get a great bite to eat here. The hummous and sun-dried tomato bagel is delicious and there is still so many other veggie options too, as well as meat. There is a deliberate old-time atmosphere about this place - that wallpaper !, those lampshades !, not to mention the waiting staff's retro fashions. It avoids being too chintzy by having a thoroughly modern attitude when it comes to the tea and food on offer. An excellent pot of tea with no teabag in sight, along with a splendid sandwich - shredded gammon in honey mustard for me, served with a nice bit of side salad. It is also well modern when it comes to such things as wifi connections, leaflets and magazines concerning local events and even the background music which is a well chosen selection of recent releases. Somewhere to seek out should you find yourself in Middlesbrough. I assume the people of the town already know all about it.

We were made so welcome & my dog just laid down in the corner & no one even knew he was there! It is very rare to be made welcome in food establishments with a dog. People use the fact that food is served as a reason why dogs aren't allowed in when actually this is not correct. It is up to the discretion of the proprieter. Really pretty café with tempting cakes, scones, pastries and interesting brunch selection. Very good service, tasty food, great atmosphere but badly let down by the coffee. I know this is primarily a 'tea' shop but with so many places springing up in Middlesbrough then a proper coffee machine would help to keep up with the competition. There really is no excuse for the slightly sweet, sickly taste of a latte from a push button machine....oh, and the toilet door didn't lock either - 'interesting' way to meet people!

Quirky cafe with welcoming staff and atmosphere. Had a tuna & red onion sandwich which was tasty and an Americano coffee. There's a variety of lovely looking cakes, cupcakes and scones. Unfortunately I was full after my sandwich to sample one, maybe next time.

You wouldn't expect to find a cute little tea room like this in the centre of Middlesbrough however I recommend driving into town, parking up and finding it. For £10 each you get an excellent afternoon tea, it was all delicious, the sandwiches, the scones and particularly the cakes are out of this world. Thumbs up from me!.

Yesterday at 4.15 we were given the menu. We asked for afternoon tea to be told we have now stopped doing it, but you can have a sandwich. Don't understand if you can have a sandwich and there was plenty of cake on the counter why couldn't we have afternoon tea? Disappointed and we left.

A lovely old fashioned tea shop. The cakes were amazing, with such a wide variety of tea to choose from served by the mug or in a proper tea pot with China cup and saucer. The staff were very friendly and informative about the different teas on offer.I have recommended this shop to all my friends and will be going there again.

I visited the tea shop with four colleagues in the lunch break from the local court, so time was of the essence. We asked the waitress if they could serve us with sandwiches and pots of tea quickly as we had limited time. The service was excellent and the food tasty and very reasonably priced. Will go here again.

I have been here a few times with my friends and always have a fantastic time! I love the vintage/rustic style of the tea shop!Afternoon tea is incredibly reasonably priced and you get a sandwich, a scone with jam and cream, a choice of delicious cakes and unlimited tea! On entering the shop, long shelves with huge jars of different teas is the first thing you notice - the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are happy to help you choose a tea, however, they are also equally happy for you to take the jars down, have a look and a smell and decide yourself! Or order more than one at a time so you can try them!I would definitely recommend people visit this place, but make sure you book a table and also that you put plenty of time to one side to make sure you get the full tea-tasting-cake-munching experience!!

The cakes and scones from here are so delicious. Moist and good portions!! Afternoon tea is fab and the cheese and chutney sandwiches are beautiful. I dont usually like chutney either!! Weve had around 5 cakes to take out for bdays etc too and they stay fresh and always go down well. Consistent high standard and ready on time. Im truly happy ive found this little slice of heaven!!

Only went on lounge so can't comment on big room but what I encountered was smashing. Very nicely set out and extremely pleasant place. Excellent service and very efficient staff.

Two course lunch gifted to us as an anniversary present. Arrived on time, no one there to greet us for five minutes. Lunch was nice especially the starter. Unfortunately there wasn’t much atmosphere, though I think that was because it was early 12.30.

The place itself seems nice enough - a good aesthetic that screams rock n'roll. However, the online presence really lets the place down. "Book a Table" says the website. I booked a table. Only to receive an email saying I didn't need to. When we arrived, two tables were marked "Reserved". Based on information found on the various online sources we could find, my other half (looking to celebrate her birthday), chose SF having seen "a selection of grilled cheese sandwiches", and offers on a "range of cocktails". The evening got off to a poor start when we got to the bar, and the only two non-lager/cider options on the draught drinks were both out of stock. Undeterred, we asked for one of the "range of cocktails", only to be told they were not doing cocktails. Undeterred, we finally found (barely) suitable beverages and found a table. We waited for the menu, and were disappointed to find it was much smaller than the online presence had led us to believe. Calling over one of the staff, we were told "We don't do those anymore". When we pointed out that this really should be updated online, we got "Yeah, its all changing". At which point we left to go home. Where we could enjoy drinks we wanted, and the full array of delights available from local takeaways. One word of advice - if you promise burger and chips, and deliver burger and chips, I'm happy. But if I visit on the basis of online information, and you don't have what you've marketed, I'm going to be elsewhere.

Nice pub, it has a darts team that I'm not in and the liquor is very reasonable indeed 👍
