Fantastisk mat. Andeconfit var utsøkt og vinene meget gode. Forretten av fisk likeså. Erketypisk engelsk dessert av kastanjenøtter, brandy og fløte ga en super avslutning. Klart det beste måltidet i Middlesbrough

It’s always an amazing dining experience at The Zetland. My partner and I enjoyed the cozy ambiance and the food was absolutely delicious. I truly enjoyed the hot chocolate which tasted like luxurious dark chocolate, and the service was top-notch. Philip, was very attentive and made excellent recommendations. It was an ideal place to have a great and relaxing evening out.

Popped into the Zetland for a drink before heading back to Glasgow by train. I was greeted by Philip who, after learning I was in Middlesbrough for a funeral, couldn't of been more kind and friendly. Came for a drink last Sunday and caught sight of the dinning room , so booked for dinner the following Saturday. The staff were brilliant like chatting with old friends . But OMG that dinning room sheer candle lit class. It's stunning and the whole evening was great. I asked where the artesian bread came from. It was delicious. Turns out it's made by the chief on the premises. If you want a relaxing drink or a stunning candle lit meal this is the place to try.

Our friend Clive was adamant we should visit here for his birthday. We were so glad we did as we were shown into the ornate dining room which was originally a ladies room. I've never seen such amazing tiling skills and of course, the tiles. Subtle lighting added to the atmosphere, no bright horrid LEDs here. The manager rustled-up fish & mash for the five of us and it was superb. You really should visit if you can...

There are many reasons to visit the Zetland. Firstly the food is very good with an interesting and clever menu that shows the chef has thought about what to produce. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course menu and would recommend the Zetland on its food alone. Comfortably the best in Middlesbrough. I would also recommend going for a drink/meal to enjoy the fantastic decor particularly the back room which is incredible with its Victorian tiling. An absolute hidden gem. Finally Philip Christie is a wonderful host, very welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommended

The Zetland has just fully reopened after major building works and my wife and I were delighted as ever to be able to eat here again. As always the reception from Philip was warm and friendly. The food choices were as good as ever. The only criticism was that the chicken supreme which is my wife’s favourite was not available as they were awaiting supplies. A pity as my wife reckons it’s the best she’s ever tasted! We had a relaxed meal occasionally watching the workers completing the improvements to the outside are and railway station. All in all a great experience.

Was so grateful to the fabulous manager of the Zetland Brasserie today. We only had a short time before catching a train from over the road and he just said 'don't worry. Take a seat and I'll get you our smoked salmon & Asian slaw with some Irish soda bread as it's quick but really tasty and filling with the bread'. He wasn't wrong and it was absolutely perfect. Superb experience. Thank You for taking such great care of us. Very much appreciated. Daniel

We visited for food and asked about hosting a holy communion, we discussed our likes and within minutes Phil had proposed a menu that would cater for our needs. Went for a meal at Christies. There was one other couple in on a late weekend evening, it felt pretty dead. The room is lovely however, it feels very golden era authentic, good lighting and music choice. Menu is limited which is fine but we were immediately told 2 mains are not available and upon ordering our starter and mains that there were not enough mussels... but this would be made up with haddock to fill it out. This was delicious to be fair (just not what we ordered). Pork parmo was OK, nothing to shout about in comparison to other Teesside venues. Cocktails were excellent. The one staff member we saw from start to finish was a lovely young lad, very well meaning but didn't have any idea when questioned on the menu (be it food or drinks), a lot of backwards and forwards to the kitchen. All in all, an average experience.

From the outset, Philip was so helpful in understanding what we wanted and was incredibly accommodating when planning a meal for 40+ people including vegetarian, vegan and and coeliac guests. The brasserie room is frankly gorgeous and we could not have asked for a better place or atmosphere to celebrate our special day. Philip and the team were attentive and the service was excellent. He went above and beyond, even taking a group photo of the wedding party as well as giving us a lovely keepsake before we left. Middlesbrough's Zetland; the definition of an undiscovered gem. This is a fantastic little spot, that can be visited to either simply have a drink or for a more substantial meal. It is not a hotel, and rooms are not available; though I am told this was the original function of the property. On the day we visited Middlesbrough were playing Birmingham (a disappointing 2-0 loss for the local team). Pre match this was a lively, busy (though very friendly) spot. We returned again later for dinner. The dining room is separate from the very comfy bar area. While the bar is lovely, and quite charming, the dining room is the really remarkable room at the Zetland. It is a very beautiful and unique room, tiled with original glazed tiles. Very different to any other establishment in Middlesbrough. However, this place does not just rely on notable interiors; the food really is also exceptional. The menu caters to all tastes; including vegetarians (there were two in our party of three). They even do a vegetarian take on Middlesbrough's famous parmo!I would very happily visit the Zetland again on future trips to Middlesbrough.

Friendly and welcoming. Beautiful interior decor. Food was delicious, between us we ordered a range of food from the menu and no one was disappointed, we were not rushed and it was also priced well. Would highly recommend and will be back in the future.

My partner and I came this morning for breakfast. We were served a delicious full English breakfast and drinks in the most stunning building. Phil, the owner of the restaurant, was lovely and friendly and a superb host.

Fantastic. Right opposite the train station, but that's not the main reason I'd go back. The food was incredible - try the set menu. Delicious. Excellent staff - professionals that are very good at what they do.

My sister and I called in to The Zetland for a drink but once we were there we stayed all evening. I can't imagine why we would have left to move on anywhere else. The bar is just gorgeous, and the staff are so lovely, nothing is too much trouble. We could smell the food at a nearby table in the bar so asked what was available. Philip explained it was restaurant week, with a 3 course set menu for £15. My sister wrinkled her nose at the starter as she doesn't eat seafood - no problem, a lentil consommé was whipped up instead. I honestly can't rave about the food enough. I had smoked salmon and capers with warm bread, followed by confit duck, dauphinoise potatoes and green beans, and then ice cream with toffee sauce. All of it was delicious. To summarise: - the location is ideal (opposite the train station)- great wine- gorgeous food- genuine, friendly staff - beautiful comfy bar- lovely atmosphere- such a bargain for such quality food. The whole experience was faultless and I would recommend The Zetland to anyone.

Three of us went to Pie Jackers before a Boro home game. We were greeted by friendly staff. They offered a range of locally sourced home made pies with mash and mushy peas. Two of us had game pie - a special of the day and our friend had chicken. Excellent food and supplemented by some interesting local ales. Great value! We are certainly going back.

Only went on lounge so can't comment on big room but what I encountered was smashing. Very nicely set out and extremely pleasant place. Excellent service and very efficient staff.

The place itself seems nice enough - a good aesthetic that screams rock n'roll. However, the online presence really lets the place down. "Book a Table" says the website. I booked a table. Only to receive an email saying I didn't need to. When we arrived, two tables were marked "Reserved". Based on information found on the various online sources we could find, my other half (looking to celebrate her birthday), chose SF having seen "a selection of grilled cheese sandwiches", and offers on a "range of cocktails". The evening got off to a poor start when we got to the bar, and the only two non-lager/cider options on the draught drinks were both out of stock. Undeterred, we asked for one of the "range of cocktails", only to be told they were not doing cocktails. Undeterred, we finally found (barely) suitable beverages and found a table. We waited for the menu, and were disappointed to find it was much smaller than the online presence had led us to believe. Calling over one of the staff, we were told "We don't do those anymore". When we pointed out that this really should be updated online, we got "Yeah, its all changing". At which point we left to go home. Where we could enjoy drinks we wanted, and the full array of delights available from local takeaways. One word of advice - if you promise burger and chips, and deliver burger and chips, I'm happy. But if I visit on the basis of online information, and you don't have what you've marketed, I'm going to be elsewhere.
