go often for brunch and late lunch , with work and with friends. We have always a fantastic experience with both the service and the excellent food and prices. Its a lovely atmosphere with good home cooked food with good quality ingredients.

Fantastic food (English breakfast or an omelette to die for!), great location and reasonable prices. The only place in Teesside to try original polish ‘pierogi’ and other polish meals but there is always a big choice of English food too, fresh and very tasty! Or you can try their special pasta. And don’t even start me on their cakes! Highly recommended! See some of my meals on the pics above (haha, yes, I come there often).

Needed a coffee stop and some breakfast! Lovely cafe with a real homely feel created by the couple who run the place. I only had a panini but it was made with love. Thanks 🥰

We had reviewed this before our visit, it did not disappoint. Whilst there were some lovely Polish dishes on offer we opted for a full English which was perfect.

I came across the Mannequin yesterday while looking for a place to relax and have a good lunch after a stressful morning. I couldn't have found a better place - friendly and welcoming staff, tasty food reasonably priced, great coffee. Highly recommended!

What a brilliant Bistro / Cafe' this place is..... Five Star food and a friendly welcome as soon as you walk through the door. An Independent 'Family' business, with a massive choice of meals ....whatever your requirements may be during opening hours. Over the years we have made several visits when in Middlesbrough, and the selection of meals on the menu never ceases to amaze us. Forget the generic run of the mill cafe's in Middlesbrough... Mannequin Cafe outshines them all.....

Visited for the second time and nothing has changed. The Owners are friendly and very welcoming. The cafe is warm clean and has a relaxed atmosphere. The food is as tasty and well cooked as my last visit. My wife and others who were with us commented that the hot chocolate was the best they had tasted. My thanks to the owners for a wonderful place to visit that I can keep coming back to again and again. I can't wait until the next time I visit M/boro so I can try the Hunters Stew...

This restaurant is an absolute hidden gem. The food is amazing and the coffee is sublime. Every meal is unique and the staff are knowledgable about the food they create. I can't recommend Mannequin Cafe high enough.

This is such a jewel of a place. The owners are very friendly and very professional and always working in the cafe. They have some great food from English breakfast to Polish delights. They have the most delicious home made cakes and gateaux. The place is spotlessly clean and it’s amazing quality. They do takeaway and sit in, table service. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they will try to satisfy your taste or dietary requirements as best they can. Well worth a visit in a morning or lunchtime if you happen to be in Middlesbrough town centre.

So my wife and I with dog were taking external pictures of the Empire Theatre when we spotted the cafe across the road - not least somewhere for lunch. I went in to check the dog would be okay if we sat outside, and could they do sandwiches. What nice friendly staff - they offered us water for the dog and said if we couldn't find something on the menu they would crate something for us. The sandwiches were freshly prepared and came with salad and garnish. My coffee was also freshly prepared and a very nice lunch indeed. Found it by accident - it is a place worth remembering

Went today first time we thought it was a new place but has been open for 4 years, very nice staff the owner is beautiful, kind hart and spirit. We had an English breakfast, what fools after waiting for our food we soon realised there were much better things on offer. The breakfast was perfect and the sausage we full of meat!!!They do polish food too so am really looking forward to going back, we did try the beetroot soup today and we loved it, so that will be a must for me every visit.It has a very nice atmosphere and unlike English businesses they actually like their customers, a guy came in at 3:35pm they close at 4:00pm and asked for a breakfast and the cooked one, how many times in English cafes have I been in 45 mins before closing to be told "the oven is off"This place deserves support and they definitely have mine

We popped into the mannequin cafe yesterday me & my husband. I had a beautiful cheese & onion toastie and he had scrambled eggs on toast served with a fantastic cup of tea, we’ve been a few times and never disappointed great service, fantastic & warm welcoming staff we will defo be eating again. It also does a lot of Polish meals. Brilliant 5* from us.

This has become a favourite family eatery in Middlesbrough. There is always a nice welcoming atmosphere and the service is very friendly and efficient. The quality of food is always excellent and it’s well worth trying the Polish specialities. Even more importantly, you must save room for the delicious homemade cakes.

Visited for afternoon tea for my friends mothers birthday. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely and a great selection. The scones were homemade and beautiful. Great staff who were very attentive and willing to go out there way for you. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Popped in this morning as my partner and I were killing time before the cinema. What a beautiful cafe this is and the food is fantastic we! We live around 40 minuets from here however we will certainly be back.

This an excellent independent Polish cafe. Very welcoming owners and staff. Coffee and food excellent and a good location to meet 1 or 2 friends or colleagues.

We enjoyed our afternoon tea with a difference which we bought as a Groupon deal and were impressed by the regular menu. There were some Polish dishes that sounded well worth a try with some interesting vegetarian options. Prices were reasonable too so definitely a return visit for us.

Smashing cafe just opposite the Town Hall. Nicely set out, with a good menu, fine food, decent prices, and very pleasant people running the place. Well worth popping in to, my wife and I will certainly return sometime soon.

My husband & I plus two friends have just been for Afternoon Tea using a Groupon voucher. From the moment I arrived I felt relaxed and was attended to at once with a choice of table and drink, whilst I awaited the others parking the car (very nearby and inexpensive). We all had different coffees which were delicious and repeated during the meal. I was surprised at the varied choice on each cake stand and the freshness of all the food. The wraps and sandwiches were abundant, first class, the packed fillings similar to our normal fare but with added zing and very tasty. The cakes were outstanding, we had beautiful light meringues with cream and fresh fruit, small cheesecakes, little triple chocolate sponge cakes and fresh fruit topped sponge cakes with cream. Nothing synthetic here - a delicious medley of naughtiness ! The waitress then brought cream and jam topped scones to the table ! I am amazed that we could eat it all and yet we did. I would not hesitate to recommend this superb cafe and we would travel from our town again, especially having found such lovely food and service.

After a few years of stupidly walking past and going to the generic chain cafes I finally sorted myself out and stopped in for lunch. The vegetable soup was absolutely delicious with the addition of pasta shells which I wasn’t expecting. It was obviously made with great care, attention and love. I couldn’t resist having one of the homemade cakes to take home. I’d never had a snickers cake before but will certainly have it again. Will definitely be back no more chain cafes for me when I visit Middlesbrough.

After reading raving reviews I was very disappointed at afternoon tea here. 2 plates of odd combination sandwiches with 6 crisps between the plates. The plate of cakes was better. But the scone is defiantly one to miss shop bought dry and with squirty cream I've never know such a odd combination. I would certainly not recommend afternoon tea here I'd pay the bit extra and go somewhere that knows how to do afternoon tea.

Walking into Middlesbrough centre on a bleak March afternoon I was not optimistic about finding somewhere nice to eat. However my eye was caught by this little cafe so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The family running the cafe were really friendly and helpful. Alongside normal (but tasty) fare of toasties, wraps and panini were some delicious polish dishes that we could not resist trying. It was helpful that the menu gave an excellent description of each dish. In addition there were some irresistible cakes that had to be tried! Finally the prices are extremely reasonable. The Mannequin was an excellent find that I will definitely visit again

We absolutely love visiting Mannequin. The family who run it are really nice and friendly and take real pride in what they do. The menu includes toasties, paninis, etc., and a selection of Polish food and always some interesting specials. There are always good choices for veggies and the cakes are amazing.

Had lunch here between appointments in Middlesbrough. The menu includes Polish, Greek and Western European dishes. We had Polish Pierogi (Dumplings) stuffed with cabbage and mushroom, and others stuffed with meat, and Krokiety (pancakes) stuffed with spinach and feta cheese, and others with mushrooms and mozzarella. The pancakes come with delicious beetroot soup. Service was great and friendly and reasonable prices.

I often use this cafe when I'm in town in between meetings and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is good and the food varies from Polish meals to tea, coffee and gorgeous cakes/1

We paid £12 for afternoon tea for two through Groupon so weren’t sure what to expect. It was fantastic! The wraps and sandwiches, including one vegetarian option, were delicious as were the scones and cakes, some items having a Polish twist. We both opted for coffee, one Americano and one latte, both of which included a refill. Full price for two would have been £16 which is still excellent value. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome. We’ll be back.

I have visited the Mannequin Cafe many times and always enjoyed the lunches or just a cup of coffee with a piece of cake, try it you won't be disappointed. Usually I go for the Polish lunch specials shown on the blackboard Pierogi and Golabki are a couple of my favorites. The Beetroot soup is fantastic too, if you are not quite that adventurous break yourself in gently with a simple baked potato with goulash. Take my word for it you will return and hopefully become more adventurous on you're next visit. Not adventurous? just try a tea or coffee with a piece of cake, fantastic place to visit with lovely staff.

Really nice cosy clean place. Couldn't fault. Food excellent with a Polish twist, boxes to bring leftovers home. Will go again. All other food that was served looked excellant.

We popped in for a quick snack lunch on a Thursday. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The decor is stylish. The menu is a cut above the norm with many Polish dishes or dishes with a Polish twist. The staff took pleasure in explaining everything.

The decor in the cafe is nice and comfortable. But the food value is rather disappointing. We ordered English breakfast and jacket potato. English breakfast only have 2 eggs, some raw tomato slices, beans that taste like canned, and a small pot of minced mushroom with some vege. Jacket potato tastes nice with mayo chicken and bacon, but the salad is pitiful. It had some shredded lettuce and three slices of tomato. It doesn't look like cafe standard salad at all. I could easily made that at home. The quality of food is far from the cafe that I had been to. Not going to visit again.

my fiance and i came here for a birthday. we bought a groupon for afternoon tea, and it was the best afternoon we have had here in middlesbrough. they served it on a stand with a selection of wraps, sandwiches, cakes and a scone with cream and we chose lattes to drink. The food was delicious and there was so much of it I struggled to eat it all. the owners are lovely and always so friendly they always make us feel welcome.

We were looking forward to visiting this cafe as we had recently visited Poland and we loved their local cuisine. We were not disappointed. Staff friendly with a smile. Nice decor, plenty of tables to sit out. My husband had polish pancakes with spinach and feta cheese and I had an egg mayonnaise sandwich which we both enjoyed. We also tried a polish donut as it was fat Thursday in Poland. We shared a donut as we were full after our lunch, we also had tea and coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. We will return.

My 8 year old and I went for Afternoon Tea as a half term treat and it was exceptional. My daughter was made to feel as valued as any other paying customer and the whole afternoon was so relaxing. The food was delicious and everything was incredibly fresh and home made. We had a Groupon voucher which was dealt with with ease and I will certainly be going back again and again. Had a cup of Tea & Toasted Teacake while waiting for a friend, served with a big smile by a lovely friendly guy.Tasted the Warm Beetroot Drink mmmm going to have a cup all,to myself next time, the owner came iver for a chat and then brought us a Pygori <--- SP each to try I had both and was delicious.Bought some cake to take home for later and the custard was delicious too took my friend some chocolate cake she said it was gorgeous.Really enjoyed my few hours was so relaxing and confy didnt feel rushed and a lovely couple running it very friendly and helpful explaining the diferent foods.Will be deffinatelt going back soon :)

Highly recommend the krokiety - Polish dish of pancakes filled with either spinach & feta or mushrooms & mozzarella. Both delicious and come served with a cup of beetroot soup - perfect comfort food on a cold day. We liked that we could add our own olive oil and balsamic to the salad. 2nd time visited and I learnt the name of this dish! Very nice cafe with lovely staff.

Nice little cafe, reasonable prices, Service bit slow are times, do cakes, scones, Pannini's, toasties and polish food. You get relish and dorittos with toasties and the relish is delicious

To of us had the £8 per person Afternoon Tea here today, the 28th, and loved every bite. The sandwich/wraps selection was fresh with excitingly different fillings and the freshest of bread. We were given a selection of the range of sweet cakes and cheesecakes on offer.They were absolutely divine! Light moist fluffy sponges, a wonderfully fruity strawberry mousse cake and a beautiful chocolate-y cheesecake. They were definitely the most innovative and delicious cakes I have eaten - a high praise indeed - but merited.I drink tea but my husband loves his coffee, and he was blown away by the delicious taste and aroma of the house coffee.I am guessing by the lunch menu that the proprietors are Polish. All I can say is that we will be most definitely returning.Thank you, Mannequin Cafe!!

Situated just outside the main town centre but very handy for discerning shoppers and office workers during the day. The menu is a tasty mix of Polish and English dishes. I would favour a wider variety of Polish dishes in order to experiment. The service was excellent and the prices were good. There was an option to dine outside. It was clean, with a pleasant, slightly upmarket atmosphere. My only real criticism is that it closes at 4pm ☺. I looking forward to watching (and sampling) it's progress as a restaurant.

Booked an afternoon tea for 4 with a Groupon voucher. For less than £20 it was outstanding value. We had a selection of sandwiches and wraps - all delicious. The tea was a good brew in a good size pot. The cake selection was delicious. The service was also excellent.Not a 'traditional afternoon tea' perhaps but really good.Some of the other hot dishes looked great too. Somethings for a future visit perhaps.

Mannequin has been my morning pit stop for coffee since working in Middlesbrough- not only do they make strong, delicious coffee, it's the cheapest in the area by miles!The things I love about Mannequin are:- The aroma of vanilla as you open the door- The delicious Spaghetti Mannequin and BBQ chicken wrap - The great value coffeeThe thing I love MOST about Mannequin though is the fantastic customer service; always friendly and always with a smile. Looked after by lovely people who enjoy what they do. My contract in Boro has finished now so I will really miss Mannequin and can only recommend you visit if you haven't already.

As I'd read the previous reviews, I was not expecting a traditional afternoon tea. The wraps and cakes me and my husband chose were fresh, delicious, accompanied by tea for me and coffee for my husband and well worth the groupon price. We were offered the option of two small slices of cake each instead of just one slice which we took up, and all were definitely homemade and tasty. Excellent value and friendly staff.

Went here following a recommendation. Spotless little cafe 50m away from the busy town centre, this is a great place to try. Staff are friendly, giving us a warm welcome. The cafe is cosy, and there's lots on offer, with lots of Polish dishes too. If you fancy something typically English, there's plenty on offer, but try the traditional Polish food, delicious. The meals are all cooked to order, and look fantastic on the plate. If you fancy something different, tasty and very reasonably priced, give this fab cafe a try.

I visited with my daughter and ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, served in very thick white bread and a ham and cheese Panini. Both food options were tasty and served with tortilla chips with a tomato relish.I usually opt for coffee however the brown crust on both the steam wands was a clear indicator that these are not wiped down and purged after each milk drink is made. This is unhygienic and not good for the steam boiler inside the machine. My daughter and I then opted for bottled soft drinks.

My boyfriend treated me to afternoon tea here, which I was very excited about as I love afternoon tea! Upon arriving, the staff were not very warm in welcoming us. The afternoon tea deal was bought from Groupon and when we gave the lady the voucher, she just frowned at us and made us feel a little stupid.We sat down and I asked another staff member how it worked and she said you get a sandwich or wrap and cake... ok thenThe "afternoon tea" was ONE slice (slab) of cake, a pot of tea and a wrap - this is NOT afternoon tea. I expected different little cakes to taste, different triangle cut sandwiches etc... So was a little disappointed with this! The food was delicious and the cake was fab too! I just would have preferred a real afternoon tea.. They shouldn't advertise it as afternoon tea if its just a sandwich and a dessert?Overall, the food was lovely, the staff were a little strange, the "afternoon tea" does not exist and it definitely did not have a "polish twist"...

Me and my husband visited here for a light lunch and were very impressed. I ordered a Greek wrap which was packed full of delicious fresh ingredients. My husband ordered a barbecued chicken and mozzarella panini which was equally fresh and tasty. The coffees (a flat white and an Americano) were of generous sizes and hot and delicious. The staff were friendly and the cafe had a lovely ambience. We are returning for an afternoon tea soon.

I had a thouroughly enjoyable time at the Manaquin Cafe this afternoon, the food is very good .. But what they advertise on groupon as Afternoon Tea does not come up to scratch... I was expecting sandwiches cut into 4 and placed on a tea plate with cake as well, as shown in the picture on the site... Unfortunatley this is not the case, we were given door stop sandwiches and 1 cup of tea which we had all drank long before the cake arrived . We were then told that if we wanted more it was extra.. This is not afternoon tea even in the cafes in the area .. The cafe is set out nicely and is clean the staff are very friendly if slow, as we were the only ones in art that point . It was let down by doorstops and 1 cup of tea .

7 of us had afternoon tea at the Cafe today. We were all delighted at the vast choiceoffered, of both savouries and delightful cakes. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. The Cafe had a lovely ambience and we were really pleased at our seating plan.

Been here a few times and always enjoy it wether just a Cuppa or Sandwhich it's delicious, I hope to return soon and sample something more adventurous

I have visited mannequin cafe 4 times now over the last month to pop in for a lovely panini. They accommodate for my needs and we're able to put a panini of my house for a good price. Fresh and lovely everytime. Lovely staff and atmosphere :) il be here every week

This was a return visit to this little cafe. We live miles away but were in town for lunch and had visited about a year ago, we found ourselves nearby so thought we would go there again.It is a really nice place with friendly staff (there is obviously a Polish connection). All the food was excellent as were the coffees and it was very good value. An ideal spot for lunch.

Popped in for coffee while waiting for my wife to finish her meeting. Used a few times coffee and food always good food is freshly prepared

Just had breakfast here - its quite a nice cafe actually, better presented than pretty much all the others in middlesbrough, and the food was quite nicely done. i had scrambled eggs with bacon and toast - it was better than it sounds! Midwekk though, so quite empty.
