Absolutely fantastic restaurant. We had to wait for a table 5 minutes. People were queuing at one point. I had the roast of the day. Hubby had the Cumberland sausage. A big Pyrex dish of veg between us. Cabbage, carrots, mashed turnip and mashed potatoes. We couldn't eat it all. They do bakery items, baked potatoes, all day brekkie, sandwiches. Anything you can think of. 2 big dinners and 2 soft drinks, £17 so worth it.

Wanted a good full English breakfast and that's exactly what I got. For £7.50 it was a bargain. 2 good sausages (not your normal cheap breakfast fare), 2 bacon, 2 eggs, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and fried bread, along with toast, marmalade and a pot of tea! Staff were delightful, chatty and couldn't do enough to help. A tucked away hidden gem. Well worth seeking out. Highly recommend.

Great value - superb food served in a delightful courtyard close to the centre of town. We went twice on our short break and waitress Pauline was brilliant on each occasion.! The Sunday Lunch was the best meal we had in Morpeth large helpings of Turkey with all the trimmings. The Old Bakehouse is very popular because it is so good but well worth the wait. We always go here for lunch when we are in Morpeth. Food is absolutely lovely with fantastic choices. This week we had turkey roast dinner and liver and onions. Delicious and lots on the plate! I’d googled places to eat before we came to Morpeth and knew this was where we would go. I didn’t realised it would be as lovely as it was though. It was a sunny lunchtime and we sat outside. We ordered the pie specials, one steak and one chicken and mushrooms. They came with veg and mash and I was pleased there wasn’t a fried chip in sight in this cafe. The veg was lovely. Neighbouring tables ordered the mince and dumplings and that was huge! We didn’t have desserts but saw the ones at another table which looked big and were being eaten with relish! The staff here were lovely, great service. Facilities were clean. We would definitely recommend. Worth noting that it is cash only.

Thought we’d give it a try as have walked past before and seen it busy. Cheap and cheerful. Cash only. Coffee is filter coffee and isn’t amazing, but it’s drinkable. Breakfasts are ok, had a full English. Also had some poached eggs which were over cooked. But, it is 7.50 for a full English so set expectations at that level.

Dropped into this cafe as we have heard good things about it. On the way in there was a board listing food/snacks. Top of the list was ‘beacon butty and tea’. We read no further. Got a seat told 20 minute wait for 2 beacon butties/tea. While we were waiting several people got up and left as they had been waiting a lot longer than 20mins. One guy was leaving as his lunch had been promised in 5mins - 15mins earlier and his parking was almost up. They brought his lunch and rather than being apologetic said you should know that car parks are limited to 3 hours. The guy had to rush his food and leave. We waited 40 mins for our butty. To be fair it was nice (thus 4 stars for this -3 for service) however we had drank our tea 30 mins previously. The bill came which was £1 more than was advertised on the board but to be fair still good value. Apparently only served until 11.30 and we ordered at 12.25 - could have apologised for leaving sign out. Got the impression that the manager/owner(?) would have been happier having a punch up than providing any sort of civil customer service. Any Viz readers will recognise her attitude as similar to that of ‘Mutha’ from “Biffa Beacon” comic strip (those unfamiliar check it out on line). Reviews show history of bad service/attitude: costs nothing to be kind - especially to your customers ….while you have them.

Remember how good liver and onions taste on a cold winter day (that's if you have a fondness for liver and onions of course)? Well the Old Bakehouse in Morpeth will float your boat - delicious!

Been here a few years ago and enjoyed it. Called in for breakfast with my son. Couldn’t fault it at all, breakfast was perfect and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely recommend.

I stumbled across this place while walking through Morpeth. It's a bit tucked away but in a nice setting off the main road.

Great service and food. The value of the food is so good. Lots of choices. Very friendly staff. Thank you to the amazing Pauline and the chef for pretty much doing us an English breakfast after past the time.

Morpeth is a quaint, rather sleepy Northumbrian market town and eateries are rather thin on the ground. However, a great choice for breakfast or lunch would be the Old Bakehouse ... tucked away off the main thoroughfare. Run by a charming, professional, local team this a lovely relaxed place to relax and enjoy solid café fare and drinks at a reasonable price and served with a smile. Very good indeed.

We often visit this cafe for what I think is the best value full English breakfast in the area. Always well cooked, huge portions and great service. Love this place!

We visited here on a recent visit from sunny Milton Keynes...we were warmly welcomed into their quaint tea room...quickly seated and our orders for breakfast placed...got to say.we had the most amazing breakfast! Our breakfast came to us really quickly and was amazing value for money and very well cooked indeed. Probably the best one in Morpeth we reckon..set us up for the entire day it was that plentiful...we can’t wait to return North just to get a taste of that breakfast and some good old kindly Geordie hospitality! We will be back..soonest..with a bit of luck...

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.

We visited Hexham yesterday and found this café in the Market Place, after a lovely River Tyne walk. It was quite busy at 1pm but we didn't have to wait long for our table. The girls made us feel very welcome and worked so hard while we were there clearing tables and getting everyone seated as soon as possible. My husband had a bacon sarnie and I had a ham and mushroom omelette which was so light and fluffy, delicious. Coffees were great too. Plenty of choice on the menu and great prices. Doggy friendly too with a treat for pooch 🐾

What a welcoming, hospitable place. If you ever need cheering up, this is the place to go. We were made welcome immediately, and tony the owner had us in stiches from the start. Everyone there were so friendly, and what had started as an intended short visit, led to us staying to closing. Met some brilliant characters, who all just made our day. Dog friendly too, which was an added bonus to us. Can't recommend enough.
