A lovely little gem, warm atmosphere and warm home cooked food. Lovely service, extremely quick but not felt rushed. There were 5 of us and we ordered a variety of dishes from starters mains and puddings. Big portions for a good price and served hot.

Several of us packed the Inn, used the facilities several times for our meeting in Coldstream several times a year. Could not wish for more comfort, good food and hospitality. At some events we wish for more accommodation so we double up. Plenty of space and the cottage is exceptional take some of us come up to Crookham with family for Christmas and holidays. After a lovely visit on a previous family holiday, we decided to book again on our recent holiday…this could not have been more contrasting. The evening started with ants crawling across the table, napkins and cutlery…and didn’t get much better. Under cooked fish, a suspicious smelling burger, incorrect burger order brought out (twice) and a curry that looked like it had been standing whilst our other dishes were being prepped. Clearly not a good day at the office. What was more disappointing was the lack of concern for what a pretty poor experience Not good, not happy.

. . . a must at The Blue Bell as guaranteed a warm welcome for not only us but our spaniel, Pepper! Nothing is too much trouble; our chicken and beef Sunday lunches were delicious, served with extra gravy in a miniature copper pan, with horseradish and cranberry. The owner/chef worked so hard to accommodate those that had booked and others like us who chanced it; thank you, no wonder The Blue Bell is so popular. One of our favourites so we'll be back.

We have eaten twice at this restaurant. The service is good and friendly. The menu is somewhat limited. Does serve great fish and chips and beef pie. Does some gluten free options. Prices are slightly high for pub grub. Al's Top Tips Thai chicken curry not the best. Home made beef pie should be tried., but is a large portion. The gluten free fish and chips was worth having and cooked beautifully.

Last minute decision to stop for late lunch / early dinner as the pub looks good from the road. Staff, just the one on front of house at this time was friendly and quick to serve. Two of us had the double burger, one the pulled pork burger and our final member had the scampi. I’d love to say the food was top notch but it wasn’t. The burgers were a little overdone and didn’t seem best quality . It was okay but just that I’m afraid. The specimen photos of the pub food look lovely so perhaps we were unlucky that day. On the plus side the beer was good.

The Blue Bell Inn was in walking distance of our holiday cottage and it was so good we ate there twice. The menu contains a range of British favourites and all our meals were hot, good portion sizes and tasty. Over the two days we ate the roast which was excellent (hubby said the best roasties), ramen, baked haddock and the steak pie which were all excellent. The sticky toffee was also a hit. Great friendly service and super friendly with our doggy who got his own water and treats. If your staying locally or passing through this pub is well worth a visit.

It was a bit busy for dinner but the food we had was nicely cooked. Portion size was good too. Other tables’ dinners looked good too. We settled for mains and dessert. Three courses would have been too much. The room was nicely decorated. Cosy. The bed was comfortable too. The breakfast was great. We’d gone for a cooked English. Came with proper mushrooms and fresh real tomato. The one sausage was high grade. Back bacon and black pudding: thumbs up. The fried eggs’ yolk nicely runny. All you could wish for. Highly recommended… we will return at some point!

We had difficulty managing to book a table at this pub until we visited in person. The staff at the pub (Abbie and Anthony) who are brother and sister do a stunning job and make you feel welcome. It was Anthony who kindly booked us in for a meal. We had been told over the telephone that there was no availability. When we did eat here the food was quite average and we had a Terrine starter and a soup starter. Quite expensive really for an average starter. The main meal was a pie which was called Chef's special pie. It was a chicken Korma with a puff pastry lid on!The usual chef who had short grey hair was not on duty when we visited so maybe that's why the food wasn't everything that is being said on here!I have to say that the food didn't make this pub for us it was Abbie and Anthony who really do look after customers. The regulars were also very friendly towards us too.

Outside appearances can be deceptive, a warm welcome and attentive staff made this a meal to remember. 2 couples with 3 children. All were well looked after. To start I had the Haggis croquettes, incedibmy tasty and the richness counteracted with a simple creme freiche sauce. Excellent presentation see pictures. The absolute highlight was the steak. I've eaten a lot of steak around the world over the years, and usually don't order a steak when out because they're a disappointment, however this couldn't be further from the truth with this one. Absolutely incredible, the tastiest and most well cooked steak I've ever eaten. Proper crust on the outside however mouth melting on the inside, perfection. So much so I personally thanked the chef. It was mind blowingly good and never expected it from this establishment. My wife's Seabass was Marvelous too, lots of samphire and incredible flavours. Presented impeccably. Staff were all lovely and friendly and nothing was too much for them. Ignore the review about the roast dinner below. One of our party had the pork and it was very good, huge Yorkshire puddings. Yes the accompaniments are slightly different, however they absolutely surpass the over boiled crap that usually comes with a pub roast dinner. Sure that's the quality the family below were maybe expecting. Overall an absolutely stunning meal. We would highly recommend this gem of a pub and if at any time we are back in Northumberland I'll be back for more ribeye steak. I'm still talking about it 2 days later. Prices also very reasonable too. Meal for 4 adults and 3 children came to £200 including a well deserved tip. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

However when we read the menu we found a great choice and were not disappointed I had haggis Bon bons which were sublime, the boss had game terrine, equally good. For mains it was the pork belly and the cod with a pea risotto both stunning and well presented.Well kept ale and acceptable wine with very attentive polite service meant a pleasant dinner.Thank you, Call in if passing or close by

The last review I gave was really bad. The owner replied to have a go at me about not supporting local businesses. Certainly the best in our Northumberland experience. My wife is a 100% vegan and although there was only the one thing available she thoroughly enjoyed it. So thanks to the staff and chefs, the boss should be proud.

Fantastic service and excellent food. We booked only 1/2hr before and they managed to fit us in. We were made to feel so welcome and our drinks arrived promptly. Whilst the menu is not huge (always reassuring) there were lots of choice for our party of 5. The food arrived and was clearly freshly cooked and piping hot! We would all happily eat everything on the menu.

Well what can I say. We have had some fantastic meals this week on our holiday. There was not much off the mains menu we didn’t try. Inc Sunday roast. Cod on pea risotto fish and chips. Beetroot tarte tatin. Lemon and herb poached chicken. That’s without my husbands great cheesecakes. Then our night stop over was brilliant. Thanks again. All staff really friendly and very helpful. All the social distancing and hand sanitizer at hand.

We had a fantastic relaxing stay at the Blue Bell, made possible by the owner Keith and his team. This Coaching Inn is perfectly located as a base to tour Northumberland, is easily accessible and adequate free parking. It is Covid "safe", with all guidelines followed sensibly without being intrusive. We stayed for 3 nights, and couldn't fault the comfort & cleanliness of our room. The breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked to order and set us up for the day (see photo for evidence!!!).We would thoroughly recommend the Blue Bell for anyone wanting friendly, comfortable, clean and safe accommodation in Northumberland.

We have just eaten at the Blue Bell Inn and all four of us were extremely impressed with the quality of our food and the friendliness of the staff. We each chose a different meal and non of us wished we’d had anyone else’s, they were all ‘that’ good.If we are ever in this neck of the woods again, we wouldn’t hesitate to return.Thank you so much for a lovely and relaxing meal.P.S. The homemade horseradish was divine.

Came across The Blue Bell quite by chance, just passing by at lunch time and looking for somewhere to eat. So good I would recommend coming looking for it.

We stayed for 1 night and when we arrived by the front door there was full hand washing station complete with soap and paper towels, upon entering the pub we were meet by the owner Keith and his wife and given our room details and a full guided tour of the pub and bar and explanation of the current guidelines they had in place for the Covid 19 restrictions. We went up to our room which was very clean and well decorated with all the facilities we needed to freshen up, we had dinner at the pub and the food was outstanding (we can highly recommend the steak) with a lovely bottle of wine which we finished off having a chat with keith and one of the locals, which was a lovely way to end the evening. We had the kippers for breakfast and again they were amazing with lots of fresh coffee, orange juice and toast served by kieth who was an excellent host throughout our entire stay and we would recommend the The Blue Bell if you are looking for a lovely place to stay or eat in Northumberland.

The food here is absolutely great. This was the best battered fish I have ever had, the peas were fresh and the chips fluffy and thick. The pub is quite big so it's good during COVID19. The main part of the pub looks nice, but I was put in a kind of 80s-carpeted annex so I didn't want to stay too long. The staff were great and everyone was very friendly.

Arrived in Northumberland on Friday for a week's holiday and we booked here for our first meal out.All precautions are taken for Covid from the moment you step in the door.Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. But to the main event.....the food! What can I say? It was sublime. Tasty, plenty of it and beautifully presented.I had marinated chicken skewers as my main and my husband and friends had steak and ale pie, pave salmon and chicken skewers. We all commented on how delicious each of our meals were and the clean plates bore testament to that. Our lovely waitress said the chef was new , only been there a week. Well he won't be going anywhere soon producing fantastic food like that.We are only in this wonderful part of the world for a week, but we will be back.

First visit out since Covid. And we chose to come here. Out in the sticks. The host was superb and wore a mask at all times. With hand wash and sanitizer available at the door. Tables spread out enough to feel far enough from other visitors. Food was very nice. Not top Level. But to a standard which you would expect from a country pub, and served hot. Very reasonable price, two courses and drinks for a couple just over £40.

Excellent location. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Brilliant breakfast both days. Perfect location to access the best of the Northumbria coast. The ONLY negative was that the accommodation has lost it's sparkle. Everything you need was there and very clean but looking slightly tired and dated.I'm sure, given their efforts in every other area, this will be on the list of the management's "to do's".

Extremely well-kept ale and tasty satisfying cooking along with a wamly welcoming atmosphere is what I found at The Blue Bell Inn. The pub is managing all the post-covid social distancing and hygiene requirements in a exemplary way and still managing to have a corker of a pub for everyoine to enjoy. This inn is an anchor for its local community and also welcomes all sorts of visitors in its stride. And did I mention the food? A tempting menu, reasonably priced and attraxctively presented on the plate. Could go back time after time.

Decided on a 2 day break at short notice to visit the Berwick upon Tweed area and selected The Blue Bell Inn as it was priced well and had good reviews, we were not disappointed . It is a lovely old building which sits just off the main road. We stayed in room 4 which was quite small but very comfortable. There is everything you need in there for a short break. The shower was great with superb water pressure. We stayed b&b but also dined at the restaurant both nights. The food was very nice but beware of the full English breakfast, it's huge ! Found the staff pleasant and helpful and enjoyed our little break.

An absolute gem on the Holy Island! We stopped here to grab a sandwich, some cake, and a drink to take with us as we explored the island. The customer service was excellent, the owner was an absolute delight and super helpful. The food is delicious, and a really good selection too! And on top of all that they sell maps and books of the island as well, it really is a must visit and a one stop shop for everything you need on your island adventures!

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to do a walk at Kielder. Loved the place. Fantastic , well cooked , quality breakfast. Decent size and good value at £10.50 including toast and a brew. Couldn’t fault the food. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Ticked all the boxes for us. Dog friendly. Liked Falstone so much did a walk from there instead of Kielder and came back to the Old School for dessert. Bread and Butter pudding with cream or custard ! Although I was tempted by the Old School sponge. Thank you for a lovely experience
