Popped in for a bite to eat Missing items off the menu due to bad planning/ordering of stock Relatively dead (maybe 3 other tables were occupied) Chicken bites over cooked Mackerel pare was rank & tasted off with sesame crackers?!!! Prawns were tiny and defrosted from a frozen bag (think old or Iceland) with nasty seafood mayo Few mushrooms on mushy bread/toast Just don't waste your money Barman looked bored but served the drinks ok hence 2 stars Atmosphere - there was none Glad to leave tbh - won't be returning

We recently visited The Shy Hourse and had a wonderful time with our family! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a gathering. The service was outstanding, with attentive staff who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, and the menu is impressively extensive—there's truly something for everyone! We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices after paying £23 for a Pizza in Chessington Word . making it an excellent value for the quality and variety offered. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and can't wait to return. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal and a lovely time with family!

I called in for a brunch meeting. I ordered coffee and avocado with feta on toast. Now had I taken the description literally then that’s maybe all I had expected. No chili, no seasoning, no butter, no garnish. Nada. If I had handed a £1 of ingredients to a 6 year old this is what I would have got. 2 dry pieces of toast, a mashed avocado and a teaspoon of feta. That’s it. Not a thing more. Lumped down with no finesse. All for £9.80. Nice work and margin Ex Celler. Total rip off.

What an uninviting place! The waitress would not leave us alone, she took our plates as soon as we finished our cake then as soon as we finished our cup of coffee she was there again taking our cups! It was as if she wanted to get rid of us. We had a scone, lemon drizzle, tea cake and biscuits. The tea cake was like cardboard and the biscuits soft, the slice of drizzle cake was so small! The coffee was not very nice. We have decided never to return there again.

We stopped for coffee and, although a lot of tables were reserved, had a good table. Ordering coffee and a sandwich the service was very quick and the staff friendly. I sat thinking that's all you need, a nice place to sit, clean tables, and a good service. The cost of the coffee and food was average for the area, coffee was good and the sandwich was excellent. I would definitely come again if shopping in John Lewis.

As a family, we have enjoyed the glasshouse since it opened, we held both our children's christening celebrations here, and my husband's and my 40ths. Over the last 2 weekends, twice we have turned up (once on Easter bank holiday Monday) and once on a Saturday, to order food at 14.30 (as we have done for the last 15 yrs) to be told with no warning that the kitchen is shut. The website shows the kitchen opening hours that we were aware of, food served 12-3 (not the ones implemented). On the bank holiday Monday the female staff member (think it's fairly new) was quite rude to my husband when he questioned the closure. On the Saturday, it was well established staff who were kind and apologetic, but said there was nothing they could do. We've frequented the GH for so many years because we love the food produced by the Italian chef, but when you're a family with hungry children, you need to know when you can and can't expect to have food. Very disappointingly, we'll have to visit establishments with broader (daytime) food service times in future.

Today 7th May 2025, my friend and I went for lunch at the King's tun. We ordered the fish and chip meal with peas and an alcoholic drink. I had a glass of Shiraz and my friend had a glass of Pinot Grigio. I was charged £16 and my friend £13. I have had this meal many a time at the King's tun paying £11.91. I want to know why I had to pay this price when it clearly stated £11.91 on the menu. We were served by Cissy at the bar. I am not happy as the week before when I ate the same meal with another friend I paid £11.91.

My colleague twice sent his chicken burger back as it was undercooked. The staff were great about this and gave him a refund without him asking. I had a fish finger sandwich which I didn’t eat all of as something didn’t taste right. 6 hours later I was violently sick and had the hot and cold shakes all night long along with regular trips to the toilet. Can only assume it’s the food and would therefore never recommend this place to eat!!!
