Very nice pub and no complaints about food or drink. However when I was having breakfast there with my wife, on Monday 19th August, I was shocked at the behaviour of one of the female members of staff. At around 12 noon she was rushing round collecting the breakfast menu sheets from the tables. When she reached mine she pulled the the menu from under my plate although I was still eating from it! The plate moved of course and she even knocked a hash brown on to the table! She then walked away without a word. I was also speechless!

Been going very much out of my way to go here over the years. Living in Walton on Thames. Was spoken to by Ricky extremely disrespectfully and unpleasantly. He said: I have been looking at staff and him in a way they have been feeling uncomfortable. He has shown me aggressive and unnecessary authority. When I don’t cherish or tolerate behaviour of this manner. He said: I give you 5mins to finish your drink. Me: I am partially blind and have been living with this disability for many years now. I’m not visual further than 1.5 meters. I’m starting with trip advisor to put this point forward and if I feel necessary. I will raise the concern to the highest possible command.

Tuesday 30th April and we were spending the evening in Surbiton where we lived many years ago. No visit to Surbiton is complete without having a drink here in "Spoons". Always find the decor and fittings to be really interesting and a enjoyable feature of the pub. It is a mixture of cinema artefacts, a reference to one of the buildings former uses, mixed with pictures of old movie stars and photos of Surbiton in days gone by. There is also memorabilia relating to the coronation of George V, which the name of the pub makes reference. Another feature are the ornate beams that spans the ceiling alongside images of the planets. Rather than use the Wetherspoons App to order our drinks, we went to the bar where we were served by friendly and efficient staff. Our two drinks came to £4.73, exceptionally good value.

So I leave a great pub in Kingston that has a good menu to get food in the Coronation Hall, Surbiton, to be greeted by the barmaid telling us there was only a couple of things on due to a problem in the kitchen. So where was this communicated on social media? Where was the sign on the entrance? Wish I'd ate in the pub I was originally in. Poor show Wetherspoons. Tim Martin get your act together. This is not what I expect from someone of high renown. Communication is key as you should know!

Friday evening 29th December we visited this "Spoons" in Surbiton. According to the information on the front on the Menu, this building originally open as a lecture hall on the day before the Coronation of King George V on 21st June 1911. It has been a bingo hall and cinema, since then and was once earmarked to open as a health club. It opened as a "Spoons " on 18th of September 1997. At the time we arrived it was very busy, we had to scout around to find a table, which eventually did, thanks to a couple leaving and we jumped in. The seating on the mezzanine floor was also full. Once settled we ordered our two pints, via the App, which came to a ridiculous amount of £4.60. A bit later on we ordered, a meal deal, which comprised of loaded chips, nachos and chicken bao Buns all for £14.93, other food options were available in the deal. Certainly not fine dining, it was cheap and sort of reasonably cheerful, basically mass produced food. Still great value, considering the portion sizes. After the food we did stay here for a few more drinks. Some of the decor and fittings are a throwback to it’s time as a cinema. There are numerous pictures, around the building, showing aspects of Surbiton in days gone by, all very interesting. Also on a wall is a display of our solar system. The ornate beams across the ceiling were also an interesting feature.

It 's a Wetherspoons pub, so traditional, not fancy. But...great prices on a range of beers, no annoying music, fast wifi, free coffee and tea refills after the first one, and great value steaks (and selected other meals - you do need to know what you are ordering though). The staff are helpful on the whole. What's not to like? :-) I think it's a great place to socialise and to work (especially if you can get a seat in one of the alcoves). It also has an eclectic mix of clientele, so interesting from a fly-on-the-wall point of view.

A large 'spoons which follows the usual pattern - a range of beers, food of the cheap and cheerful nature, in a converted building that used to be something else. In this case a civic hall opened in the early 20th century. Not, apparently, ever a house of ill repute as some claim (I don't know why you'd want to claim to be that). I think we may have Wetherspoons wrong - they haven't damaged high street pubs, because there are several pubs around and they're doing fine. What they may have damaged is the backstreet boozer, the 'grandad and his pint and paper' kind of place which have mostly gone. And I'm not even convinced 'spoons is really a pub pub - it has more in common with something like All Bar One (an upmarket 'spoons equivalent) and could be classed more as a diner. Or is it just that I would rarely go into a 'spoons just for the drink? The Coronation Hall is among the best of Kingston upon Thames' Wetherspoons - there is also the Kings Tun in Kingston and the Watchman in New Malden. The Cap in Hand, in Southborough, closed in 2016.

I cannot stress how unique and magical the interior is to this pub, once cinema and theatre. The Coronation Hall has a rich history and it is so lovely to see that Wetherspoons has respected that. From the incredible arch ceilings to a statue of Charlie Chaplin, the old photographs on the wall, and the brass camera decor... This is what makes the pub and is truly is something special. There is so many soulless pubs in the UK that do not respect what their buildings used to be. The "Corry Hall" certainly does not do that. The only minor issue is the amount of smokers that linger on the entrance steps. There should be a dedicated smoking area out of sight as it can be quite intimidating and horrible to walk through as you enter. Other than that, this is a wonderful pub that pays homage to it's history

Wednesday evening 10th August and we visited this pub for a drink. It is located across the road from Surbiton train station. There are three are three parts to this rather large pub. The first is the conservatory area at the front, from there some steps go up to the main area with a rather lengthy bar. At back of the bar there are stairs up to a mezzanine floor/balcony area. We purchased our first drink at the bar, our two drinks came to £4.58, as always with "Spoons" pubs, great value. Our subsequent drinks were purchased via the App. We sat at our table with our drinks and we were captivated by the decor. The colourful arched beams were definitely a feature along with planetary elements. They were accompanied by film artefacts and photos of the stars of the silver screen. There was memorabilia relating to the coronation of King George V, which the name of the pub celebrates. We did discover that the building itself has a rather interesting history, it first opened it's doors in 1911 as a lecturer hall. Since then it has had a variety of uses. It has been home to a music hall, cinema, bingo hall, nudist club. The staff here were friendly and efficient.

We totally understand they were understaffed but - they run out of buttermilk chicken and we been informed after 35 mins waiting they don’t have and we like to choose instead After it sorted it seemed our order completely forgotten - we had to wait another 40 minutes to get our food - no communication from staff - we had to chase to get update - we ordered the festive burgers 2 of us haven’t received pig in blanket - no one received cranberry sauce (2 of us received cheese sauce the third person no sauce at all) - no one received stuffings - only the fries were hot the rest of the food were cold It wasn’t a usual good service we generally get when visit your pubs. We got that hospitality sector struggling these days to get enough staff on board but it doesn’t mean you forget what customer service means!!

For the superfluous amount of pubs in the area, this one stands out from the rest. Extemely good food and service with a wide variety of drinks available on tap or mixed at the bar. Furthermore, the pub tops the rest of the competition in price; with dishes and drinks being extraordinarily cheap. This pub goes above and beyond capturing the heart and cutrure of Surbiton in one building, definitely worth a visist if you're in the area.

Let me forget about the service, food and drinks on offer, facilities, etc. for the sake of this review.I wanted to move tables because table 60 did not feel safe as it was in the middle of the upper floor with no protective screens around it and people sitting in close proximity to me. As another table became free I moved, just to be told off by staff that I moved to a table for 6 and that should be kept free for a larger group - fair enough so I returned to table 60. He even said that he would look for another table for me.Lo and behold, a few minutes later a couple arrived and sat by the very same table for 6 while other smaller setups were still available. I pointed this out and asked what was the difference between 1 or 2 people occupying a table for 6 when tables for 4 were still available. Now the whole story changed and it was no longer about numbers and capacity but the good old excuse: Covid-19. Once you are seated, you must not move. I felt it pointless to highlight the contradiction and that minutes earlier I had been told that the table move was not possible due to the need of keeping the large table free and a different table was being sought for me. Covid was once again used as the get out of jail free card.Needless to say, I was never offered a different table. I cannot help but I keep thinking that I was discriminated here.

As you can see my last update was a 5/5 as a local regular (sad to admit it). However, I feel an honest update to the recent situation is warranted. So in short this place you now have to queue to get into. The bulk of the clientele of an evening are youngsters who are basically mass gathering at a number of tables and convening in common areas throughout the pub. This is not ideal and the pub has got to the point where a Codiv safe table for one person is a stool at a fruit machine. This surely can’t be right. By doing this they’re don’t their best to fill every square inch. The staff seem to try their best, but often big tables are taken by single customers and then groups of twos or threes are made to queue for ages. The staff that work here also come here when off duty and seem to get preferential treatment to be seated with friends or larger groups. The app is also very under resourced so you wait 15+ mins for your drinks and newbies getting bar service overtake you in that queue. This place has all the hallmarks of being why the rule of six has come in. Basically no regard to stop young groups convening into larger ones at all. The table are seldom cleaned since the early bravado of Codiv and also they are happy for large group who are blatantly together to queue and get in and then convene later inside to carry on with abandon. This place in recent week has a lot to answer for.Sadly I do pop in here when I can as you can’t knock cheap pints and food. However, if they carry on with their profligacy for groups, packing people in like sardines and disregard for cleanliness I will be minded to report them to o the authorities. Sort it out guys. You need to play fair and stop the super spread. Will give another rolling review no doubt next month. Not good at the mo though!

Fair play Spoons isn’t salubrious, nor is it one for posh nosh. However, this ornate incarnation ticks the rights boxes in an area where expensive pubs charge over six bar a pint and take you darkening their door for granted. The pizzas are decent and getting pints for about £2.50 on average is unheard of. The Shipyard for £2.75 is a Rishi Dishi special and an absolute bargain hunter and chips.Given you can sail away in a booth and pretend you’re somewhere else whilst ordering from an app and never leaving the table is a right touch. Is what it is, but for the value and shortcomings of others pubs round here, this gaff is a winner.

I regularly walk out of the place now, despite the cheap prices, because the choice of ales has become so bland and samey. I never normally write reviews but after the second time I’ve had poor customer service at this venue I felt it was required. I moved to the area about a year ago & have been a regular visitor. A few Saturdays ago I ordered a large breakfast it came out with no sausages. When I made a complaint the waitress accused me of eating the sausages off my plate before eventually rectifying the situation. Today my son and I had a meal, his was fine. However, my steak was as tough as old boots & not cooked very well. I ate the remaining part of my meal - egg & chips and complained about the steak that I attempted to eat. When I brought this to the waiters attention he stated that he spoke to the manager & because I ate part of the meal he would only offer me a free dessert, not a replacement steak or alternative off main menu. ( I didn’t want another meal ) Such a shame as this is our closest Weatherspoons- please can someone train the staff better in customer service skills

I’ve visited this branch of Weatherspoons on many occasions over the last few years and it’s always good for no frills everyday food and drinks. We went here for a quick bite before travelling into London for a Theatre trip and wasn’t disappointed as usual. It was early evening, so no long wait and a choice of tables. Our food arrived about 10 mins after ordering and we enjoyed a mixed grill and gammon steak and a bottle of wine. Good experience as usual and we will be back.

I come here regularly, sadly sometimes they can be short staff however they are hardest working bar staff going. They always have a laugh with customers, personally the service is what makes a place!

Come on Wetherspoons, a friend gave up waiting for service after 10 minutes, at which point I took over. An additional 15 minutes before being served. This is not acceptable. There were only two young girls serving the whole pub and one girl serving orders online. 25 minutes to order a round of drinks..!! An apology would seem appropriate, together with more staff.

Located around a 3 minute walk from Surbiton Train station The Coronation Hall is a large pub with a very unique and exciting interior and exterior. This is a one of a kind pub that's well worth visiting even if it's just for a quick pint.

We had become quite familiar with the Wetherspoons in Kingston and like their breakfasts so when a regular visit to Surbiton appeared on the calendar it seemed logical to grab a bite here.

I used to be frequent visitor of that pub. Interior itself in traditional British style, variety of drinks and affordable descent food. The pub belongs to Weatherspoon, and choice of food is very typical but nice. Always fresh and satisfying.

I've eaten at the coronation hall on various occasions over the years and never had a bad experience there but yesterday my experience was exceptional, I ordered my meal with a beer and the food was served pipeing hot within 5 minutes of sitting down . The food was a joy to eat and had layers of flavor that complemented each other perfectly.

Love this place! Food and drinks are cheap, staff are friendly and lots of room. Only minor complaint is the tables sometimes need to be wiped down more but despite that we love it here :) thanks!!

Drank here regularly while studying at Kingston University. The cocktails were well made and the bar could easily accommodate the larger groups we had.

We have eaten here at The Coronation Hall Pub several times since 2010.We have found the food to be tasty, and the service friendly. Our only negative comment is that it can be very noisy!Fish And Chips:Very tasty indeed! And they will cook the Fish and the Chips to your preferred crispness!Vegetarian Lasagna:Very tasty and filled with yummy veggies! Lots of cheese, too.We recommend The Coronation Hall Pub to everyone!

There is weatherspoons ap you can download off of the ap store, this ap allows you to order food and drink direct to your table and you can pay using PayPal or card. It's a great idea but the staff hate it and are doing their best to make it fail.I first used the ap about six weeks ago (possibly more) and the comments my friends and I received from the staff made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Upon delivery of our first round of drinks, we praised the bar lady and said what a marvellous idea it is. She replied in a rather unwelcoming manner, "don't use it again." My friends and I actually thought she was joking, and so when we had finished our round we purchased another, using the ap.Second time round a chap appeared at the table with our drinks, we thanked him and he said disdainfully, "the bar's there," and stomped off. We were shocked and felt uncomfortable, so I approached him. He said his name is matt and that he is the manager.I told him about the remark from the first bar lady and how we thought she was joking, but after his comment we realised it was not a joke. He said that it was a joke and that he wants people to use the ap - it was no joke.Joke or not (and it certainly was not) we felt uncomfortable from that moment on and so we stopped using the ap. We don't like to complain and so left it at that. However, I met some old friends in the Coronation Hall last night where there was also a wake taking place. I stood at the bar waiting to be served but as a gentleman approached the bar next to me, he was served first - not a problem, I used the ap and went back to my friends. Ten minutes later we were still waiting which by that time, the bar was quieter and there were free staff. So I approached and explained that we had ordered using the ap. I was told by the bar lady that orders by ap could only be completed when there was no one left to serve at the bar which contradicts what matt had told me (there is someone assigned to ap orders) so I asked if I could have my order while I waited at the bar. In short, the Ap is a great idea. It avoids the disappointment of watching someone else get served when one is standing at the bar first, it allows one to stay with friends instead if breaking off from conversation to go to the bar and it is a convenient way of paying. I love the weatherspoons and one gets great value for money. I just wish the staff would get behind the system which has been put into place to make one's night out more enjoyable and not be so rude upon delivery of purchase.

The thing I like about Weatherspoon is not always the customers it attracts and the interior, but the different beer that you can't get elsewhere. I like the Belgium beer and the prices out of London are good

This is a Wetherspoons pub with a simple food venue.I used this to meet a potential business contact at very short notice who travelled to Surbiton Station (just across the road) The downstairs bar area is pretty busy, luckily there is a first floor balcony area which was pretty quiet and with power point for the laptop.Had a few drinks and a burger. Bar was busy and there was a short wait at 2pm in the afternoon mid-week. The Coronation Hall is what it is, an extra big pub in what used to the towns' cinema that offers relatively cheaper drink and food in a busy environment so it's not the place for a romantic dinner for two! On the other hand I would suggest that it is a great place to have a good time with your mates.

Large pub run by poorly trained staff. 2 hours visit with friends cut short by poor/slow and rude service at bar. Spent a total of 32 minutes at the bar on 2 trips to be served or should say blanked by staff. When challenged over service still ignored whilst they serve their friends. Avoid at all if you want prompt service.

I always rated this place highly until about a month ago. Since then I had two bad experiences with the food. The first time was their curry day. My naan was hard and crispy (almost like the poppadoms). I wasn't going to complain until I tried an onion bhaji and found it was absolutely cold in the middle. They did replace the offending items, but I had to ask for them to keep the rest of the dish warm and I think it dried out a bit. I think they should have replaced the lot from scratch. My next visit was 2 weeks later. I ordered lamb shank which I have been enjoying a lot lately in various Wetherspoon pubs. This one looked good but it again was a bit dried out with not much gravy and a strange, almost fishy taste. I did tell the guy serving that I wasn't impressed, but he didn't seem to care.I sent in a message detailing my experiences, but it looked like Wetherspoons generally didn't care, despite the fact that serving food that isn't properly heated through is a health hazard. On the plus side, I have to admit the beer was still good.

When you are looking for a great family meal on a budget, then Spoons really are the place to go.In London for a concert in nearby Thames Ditton, we hit Google, and turned this place up. All 6 of us, plus baby and Guide Dog, descended on the place late Saturday afternoon.Well lit, clean, bright and airy. The usual nice attention to detail in retaining the tradition of the building (although personally I would prefer to be seeing a film in here as a cinema!). Ordering was easy enough. One of the pumps ran out when pouring the drinks, so the remaining two were brought up to the table.Food served nice and quickly. Hot, as it should be. Couldn't fault the food. Really tasty. Usually, I would have the Mixed Grill. However, being Burger day, I decided to try a burger for a change. Well impressed. To have meals, including drinks, for six adults, for less than £50 is just brilliant.

Been visiting the Coronation Hall for many years. The fact that I have returned on numerous occasions would indicate it's doing alright. The wide selection of beer deserves to be acknowledged, together with the prices, which are considerably cheaper than their competitors. The cleanliness of the tables could be improved. The bar staff work hard, but it can be infuriating when they do not serve customers in the correct order, this has happened on numerous occasions. Overall a decent pub to gather with friends for a drink.

Since this pub was literally RIGHT by our hotel we were here maybe 4 times total during our stay. Twice for a pint and bite to eat and the other two times just for a pint. The atmosphere is totally pub. Dark wood, beautiful bar, just dim enough to be inviting but not off putting. Our first visit her we did small plates and I discovered Hogstar beer....it was my first pint of many that week! We ordered the grilled halloumi (goat/sheep cheese) with sweet chili sauce, tandoori chicken bites with yogurt mint sauce and spicy coated king prawns. The food was all good but nothing really stood out and made me think "I would totally get that again". It was just meh. And remember we were drinking and for me historically that that tends to make everything taste good! The next time that we grabbed a bite there we had Chili con Carne that was served with rice. Again...it was good but there was no WOW factor at all. Even the onion rings were just.....well...onion rings. The other times we went we skipped the food and just had tasty adult beverages. The waitstaff/bartenders were friendly enough and their selection was fabulous. The amount of locals that were always there seemed to be a good sign also. One more thing to note is that the Coronation Hall was open for breakfast and the menu looked pretty good for that.Go, drink a Hogstar for me, skip the food, enjoy.

We got our 8 pizzas gradually over about an hour. My friend had to wait more than 30 mins for hers and everyone else had already finished when it finally came. No apology either. The pizza itself was dry and only had 2 slices of mushroom on (I wouldn’t have listed it as a topping for just 2 slices of mushroom!) - wouldn’t go again
