Great smoked old fashioned. We came as a repeat customer from the year before. Cozy bar, great atmosphere, wonderful service.

I had dinner here ordering their prix fixe menu with my partner. The wait staff are very nice and the food is tasty (though not extraordinary) and beautifully presented. In addition, there are a number of "free" amuse bouche items provided. However, the portion sizes from this menu are tiny. I'd say the portions are like tapas rather than a meal that will satisfy your hunger. But what really burnt my bunions was that when the bill arrived, it included a £1 charge for charity. I choose my own charities voluntarily and do not expect to be pickpocketed in a fancy, overpriced restaurant. If the owners want, they can donate to charity out of their pockets without imposing this on me with a sneaky addition to the bill. I believe it's inappropriate for a restaurant to sneak this on the bill, which would result in an embarrassing confrontation with the wait staff over it. I want to be asked to optoin rather than requiring me to opt-out. In addition, the bill had a 15% service charge, which, on top of their inflated prices and their £1 charity addition, really dented my wallet. A 12.5% service charge is the norm in London. 15% is ridiculous. There was no mention of the charity extortion or inflated service charge up front. No wonder they're closing the restaurant down. Even if they stayed open I'd never go back.

If I could give the Cheneston's team 10 stars I would. Somehow 5 stars feels like a disservice. The food was absolutely delicious, I had ordered the steak (medium rare) and my partner the mushroom risotto which were cooked to perfection. Our mains were accompanied by three sides including Jersey Royal potatoes, Creamed Spinach and Ceaser Salad, all of which were again amazing. The service we received was exceptional, the restaurant manager and team were so attentive to the table and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the evening. I cannot recommend the restaurant and hotel highly enough. The best restaurant dining experience we have ever had.

The special birthday afternoon tea I booked for 6 of us was very beautifully presented. We chose the option with prosecco which was £42 per head. The food was delicious but I am very unhappy with the charging for extra tea. I have NEVER been charged for additional tea when having an expensive afternoon tea. One of the party did not even have a hot drink, but we were still charged when 3 of us wanted more tea. And service charge added. Not great value.

To start with, this place is a bit of a madhouse. But setting that aside, the food was great! The service could have been better, but, hey, it was a beautiful afternoon in London. What's not to like?

Love this pub. Haven't been in for years sadly hasn't changed much at all back tonight and happy days.

We came as a family and had late lunch. I can recommend. Food was delicious, full of flavours, and plenty of different dishes to choose from. My son is a fan of mac and cheese, so he topped up with bacon and side of garlic bread. Their portions are massive, which is making it great value for the money. I loved their battered cod and chips, it was nice and fresh, fried perfectly to golden, and it was just yummy. The whole plate being assembled with tartar sauce, lemon, peas, and thick cut chips makes it a real British food experience. Steak and ale pie were delicious as well, pastry was cooked perfectly, and the whole pie had a lot of meat and sauce inside. Big fan. Turkey dinner wasn't disappointment either, it came with lots of trimmings on the plate, and the turkey gravy was delicious. Personally, I prefered the turkey gravy over the merlot beef gravy, but both were tasty. We were waiting for our food, maybe 20 minutes, which was amazing, considering the number of tables being occupied. We recommend to visit, it is a typical British pub.

Great location for pre event meal for the Royal Albert Hall - just a few minutes away. Friendly staff & nice atmosphere. Good menu choice & food tasty & came quickly.
