£7.20 for a pint in a lacklustre hotel bar… shocking.. avoid

Annual London visitor usually stay in this hotel for a fortnight, fond of the juicy mushooms at hotel breakfast. Food was good warm and utensils were clean and tidy. Tables were cleaned elegantly set. Staff were polite and helpful. Quite disappointed this visit, my first time stay after pandemic. Hopefully the service quality will be improved and recover with time.

The hospitality customer service is excellent and very friendly .

Meals are average and over priced. Staff are shocking and not trained well. Arrogant, argumentative and patronizing. I would not waste my time or money going back there. And they call themselves a 4 star hotel and restaurant.

This was a complete disaster from start to finish! We were staying in the hotel and decided to opt for a quiet night in using the hotel restaurant which was a huge mistake. We arrived at the unstaffed maitre de desk and were ignored by the two waitresses until we had to wave to get attention and were walked to a table for two which lacked basic items as we sat down. We placed our orders at 6.54pm and at this time there was only one other table occupied by a couple studying their menus, another table of two had eaten and there were no drinkers at the bar. There were five staff members standing in the room at this time and all were busy chatting and laughing. Our drinks order arrived, the lemonade mixer was flat and there was no alcohol free beer. The bread selection arrived looking under baked, without any butter portions and side plates. After waiting until 7.41pm we requested our bill after being totally ignored by the five chatting staff. The service provided by the staff was totally unacceptable and spoilt a really great experience at the hotel overall. Definitely one to avoid at all costs!

Wow by far the worst restaurant I’ve ever visited !!! The food was absolutely shocking and the quality was so bad . The shepards pie came out in a bowl with no vegetables or gravy and the portion is like a child’s portion. The burgers came out undercooked and fries stone cold with a price of £19 . Please take my advice and steer clear of this overpriced shocking place and go to McDonald’s !!!

I really liked the food, I had dinner with my wife and daughter and the food was great, the staff was exceptional, friendly and very kind, especially the waitress Kiran, my experience was excellent.

Friendly and especially hospitable staff. Limited but tasty pub menu. The fish and chips are highly recommended.

Didn't get any service initially. When we chased, we finally got to ask what gluten free options there were and, despite the menu stating pasta and pizza gluten free options were available, we were told it was only the risotto. After another customer told us he had been waiting am hour for his food, we walked out.

Poor food, sticky tables, poor service, the atmosphere of a business cafeteria... so many other options around the hotel though....

Terrible service (the male waiters all move super slow and the 2 female waitresses work hard) ,30 min to get water then another 45min to get food ,which was as bad as the service

I have no idea what the food tastes like. I was asked to find a table and someone would come soon. 5 minutes later someone cleaned my table. 30 minutes later I left while making eye contact with a waiter. Still hungry, but London has a lot to offer🙂

Ignored for 40mins by waiting staff to order food even after going to bar to ask to order food to be told staff member would come and take order nothing so drunk our drinks and walked out.

The most PATHETIC service EVER. ANYWHERE. Six employees standing around looking at two different computer screens. We asked three times to place our order. When the food came we then had to ask for utensils to eat with. The fish and chips was okay. Chips needed at least SOME salt on them. We only ate here because it was in the hotel and we didn’t feel like going out. BIG mistake that we won’t make again. Four of us were finished eating when the fifth person in our group FINALLY got her dinner. Absolutely PATHETIC!

I haven't been here for a long time. I was surprised the Brasserie was almost empty on Easter Sunday. We really enjoyed the food. It was good quality and an interesting menu. Portions were large. We certainly pop in again when we are in the locality.

Grilled chicken is delicious, friendly staffs, prompt service. Kashish makes all of us feel welcomed.

The breakfast is great with wide selection from the buffet and good value. Dinner experience is not so good , the waiters don’t come unless you insist and the dirty plates and empty glasses are left on the tables when people leave so the first impression is that it looks very messy. The food is ok and comes quite quickly. It could be a lot better with minimal effort

Disappointing is an under statement! Starters of Calamari (very thick and over cooked) and Nachos (tasteless). Mains Ribeye Steak (Chips undercooked and accompanying vegetables so hard they could not be cut with the cutlery provided). And Pulled Pork Burger (stone cold). Half way through the starters we were asked if they could serve the main course - we said no. As soon as the starters had been removed, the main course was served. The food had obviously been sat around. At the end of the meal we asked for the restaurant manager a total of three times. Having waited 15 minutes. We informed the waiter that we would have to leave as we were attending a concert at RAH. We are staying at the hotel, so asked for the meal to be charged to the room with a note saying we would deal with the meal at Reception on checkout. We grabbed a burger at McDonalds later in the evening! My honest opinion is avoid this place to eat. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. It does not bode well for breakfast!

Not good. Average food. Useless staff. Waited an age for pudding. It wasn't even busy, yet half a dozen staff were busy messing around with tables and chairs rather than serving customers. Had to ask for a discount as the service was that poor. Will not be spending my hard earned money here again.

Was there for a diner in one of the conference room One "manager" that does not seem to know whats what and keep ignoring us and 5 staff that did not notice that we were sitting in that room too Then time to leave, circus and chaos to find our bags, i did not exoect to be self service cloak room Security more interested in the ladies that to guide older people....so on so on

Awful restaurant. Food took an hour, dreadful service, unwelcoming staff and they clearly had little experience. It took them around twenty minutes to take our orders after we were given one menu for ten people. Food took around one hour with no explanation why it took so long. The only drinks they could serve were beer and wine. They didn’t actually take our drinks order. When our food eventually came, the spaghetti bolognaise had a lot of chilli in it, the pizza had oregano just chucked over it and the carbonara was so salty. My food was served by the waiter who laughed at me as I had complained prior to this. We will definitely not visit this restaurant again. I would recommend guests try the other restaurant or order in!

The staff had zero control. There was no one to guide us to A table when we arrived, even tho we stood right next to them. They seemed to be too stressed out to talk to us. We had to ask one of the staff to get to order since no one came. The waiter we ordered to did not write anything down. We waited 40 minutes until the food came and it didnt have all that we ordered with it. A new waiter came with the food and had no control of who to bring it to, she went to many other tables until we managed to get in contact and get our food. When we got our food they didnt come with the drinks we ordered, and when asked for it she told us that they were free for the drinks we ordered. When we were finish it was a big problem to get to pay for our food! They had no control over the orders and the waiter told us to wait while he let other people behind us pay. When he was done he told us to go to someone else to pay. We went to another person who also struggled to help us. We had to wait long until they finally let us pay for our food. Will not come back.

Food and dining experience was okay. It is standard hotel food. They did not have a lot of items on the menu when you tried to order. Staff did try to suggest alternatives, which was helpful. Portions were generous with the starch, and vegetables on the side. The staff were pleasant and attempted to suggest food and drink when the things that they had were not in stock.

This place is not good. Not good at all. The staff don't know what they are doing. The seniors seem to drift about aimlessly not giving any direction We dined here twice. First time I ordered one of the pie options. Told they didn't have any. Asked for another. No pie options at all. Ordered something else and that was ok, though the fries were underdone Made the mistake of the next day going back. What a disaster. Here's why: Waited 10 minutes at a table for a menu. Then when we got there waited another 10 until I spoke up to get for some service I noticed that the only way to get anything sorted was to be direct with them. They seem to have no order, no rhyme or reason to serving people Tried to order the pie. Didn't have Steak or Chicken pies, Was offered apple as an alternative ?!?!?!?!? Admittedly it was busy, but was shocking how it was run. Saw the bar person cleaning a pile of glasses by literally moving one glass of the bar to the dishwasher at a time. Seemed like she was away with the fairies, whilst people were still waiting for drinks, Additionally,, people at tables were waiting for drinks, and yet if anyone walked up to the bar they were served straight away, whilst the rest of us remained thirsty Infuriatingly, a pilot from an airline would walk in with repeated requests and it seems he might have been the messiah as whatever any of them were doing, he got served first. Look I don't care if you stay there each week but wait your damn turn. People in that bar fly with your airline - I won't if you think you are that damn entitled I waited 20 minutes for a beer, and it was only when again, I asked where my drink was, that the bar person was instructed again to get it. But then they had run out of Amstel, so asked for a Moretti. No they then ran out of that. Management - keep your bar stocked!!!! Dessert took 25 minutes for 2 cheesecakes. And they weren't great. Also, I don't want serving by a person who has a personal hygiene problem. Buy some deodorant ffs....... When I am paying $1000 for four nights to use a hotel, which to be honest, ain't great when I have to fix the TV and clean what looked like snot where someone had sneezed on the window, and found someones flip-flops under the bed, well it is bad. Really bad. Don't stay here. Appalling.

Absolutely delicious burger. Cooked to the way I ordered. Very reasonably priced and the fries were as good as the burger. Staff friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back again.

The food is good. The service lower than medium. And the most important not written anywhere: the kitchen closes at 20.30 but you can stay above your empty dishes until 22.30 indicated as closing time of the restaurant!

Great beef burger and great chips. Also liked the pizza and the scampi. We had it all as take aways to eat in our comfortable room. The staff are friendly and efficient so I recommend The Brasserie as well as the hotel itself.

Really excellent food, great portion sizes at reasonable prices. Pleasant, friendly staff. Restaurant is a bit tired but standard of food far outweighs this. Good place for an honest good meal.

We were pleasantly surprised with the good bar food, at reasonable prices, were there several times and were always charged the right amount , nothing went awry, for such a large bar it was very efficient. Suitable for children too.

Hay muchos asientos en este bar, pero es un poco sombrío y frío. Durante el día solo parece haber una persona que sirve y siguen desapareciendo. Pedimos un Club Sandwich, que era muy bueno, con mucho relleno y servido con papas fritas. Lo usé varias veces para bebidas y es una buena instalación con Sky T. V.

Aterrizamos en Inglaterra y estábamos cansados y no tenía ganas de salir bajo la lluvia para encontrar un restaurante. Probamos este restaurante en el hotel Copthorne Tara en Scarsdale Place en Londres. Teníamos una pizza Padana que estaba deliciosa y muy sabrosa y una tostada BLT en lugar de una envoltura. También tuvimos una temporada de ensalada fresca mixta. Realmente disfrutamos de lo bueno y el servicio fue muy educado y eficiente.

We spent 5 nights at this hotel and were very happy with our choice. Bed, breakfast and Dinner was great. Very close to the underground as well. Reception were extremely helpful too.

In hotel Copthorne Tara, good food and services

This is a noisy, lively bar/restaurant within the hotel, ideal for a quick pre-show meal or evening meal and drinks. The food is surprisingly good and excellent value; the type of food you might get at Garfunkels or similar.

Horrible service... in desperate need of more staff, there's only 2 waiters and there was dozens of empty glasses and bottles piling up at the bar that nobody was cleaning off. I had a seat in the corner and it took 10 minutes for someone to come and take my drinks order. After another 20 minutes of nobody coming to bring the drinks or take our food order (we called over a waitress but she said this wasn't her area), we moved to the middle of the restaurant so staff could see us better where our first waiter then seemed reluctant to serve us as this seemed to be someone else's area. He seemed surprised that we had moved to which we said we'd been waiting almost 30 minutes and just wanted to order food already. We finally ordered but the guy came back 5 minutes later to ask us what we had ordered again. At this point we are really hungry and still haven't received our drinks. The waiters seemed annoyed with us in general. Finally got our drinks and food which at least was nice but the service was a huge let down.

On our arrival we were told to sit anywhere, so we did.We were never given menus, so after what had seemed to be 10 minutes, we went up to a staff member to get them.We were told someone would be with us straight away.When that didn’t happen after a while went up to the gentleman again and asked to be served, we hadn’t even got drinks by this time. After our order was taken, we got our drinks, our meals followed.We weren’t checked on once.When we saw the waiter near we got his attention to order more drinks, as we had finished our first and we’re still eating our meals.We didn’t get a menu until we were a few bites off finishing and when he realise he had forgotten.Then, we didn’t get a drinks order!! We again asked a waitress (who seemed to be the supervisor) who was walking past us, that’s right, not even acknowledging us even though we had menus.So we placed our drink order, and again nothing came. So again we waived to a waitress walking past and asked, where are our drinks? So our drinks FINALLY came, then my partners plate was cleared before I was even finished! So FINALLY my plate was cleared, and we asked for the bill.We see a service charge? I have never ever been one of those people to complain, but no, even asking to get the service charge removed after what seemed to be no service provided, except for getting our meals placed on our table! Seemed to be too hard....After about 10 minutes discussing to all of their colleagues as to whether they would like to remove this charge or not, the bill was then thrown (I mean literally thrown) on our table to be paid.We were not impressed at all to say the least, would not recommend for the service if you are expecting any of the sort.The only good thing I can recommend is the food, and we are also guests here at the hotel.We also both work in hospitality ourselves, and do not EVER complain but really felt this was ridiculous, we even had to ask for compensation towards this bad service, when it should have already been offered after the first few mistakes...

Dreadful service . Attila's mannerism towards other staff is appalling. Asked about the advertised Monday Mexican night and staff didn't know about it. When they eventually knew about it and wouldn't swap the free bottle of beer for a soft drink even though it was advertised was told by Attila that those posters shouldn't be there. Witnessed other guests complaining too. Won't be back plenty other places to eat with staff that care🤔

Fairly standard English pub food in a busy bar. My friend and I both ordered pasta carbonara, one was OK, the other very watery. On complaining, the staff were very apologetic, removed it from the bill and offered us a couple of free drinks.

Have been coming here for years. Nice spacious bar with plenty of seating. Good place to watch premier League football games and the staff are always happy to change channels. Hardly ever gets packed, definitely no need to book in advance here.

Fawlty Towers without the personality Rang to book a table several times. No response and no reply to voicemail. Turned up and it was empty - we should've cut our losses then. A surly waitress took our order. We thought her English wasn't good but turns out she was just rude. After nearly an hour and having to chase our starters, 2 out of the 4 dishes arrived. My partner's "fiery hot" chicken wings were not hot in either sense of the word - they were cold and not at all spicy. My duck pate tasted like it had come straight from the pack of a supermarket value range. Lots of it (a whole pack I would say) but very bland and only one tiny piece of toast to go with it. Our two guests did not receive their starters so we chased again. By now my partner and I had finished ours. Several minutes later, surly waitress then appeared with our mains (having not cleared the table from the previous course and our guests still awaiting their starters). We told her we weren't ready for them. "You don't want them?" said surly waitress, becoming more surly by the minute. At this point we complained again to another member of staff about the lack of starters. Of surly waitress, we were told: "I believe she has some personal problems - we have had issues like this before." We all have problems - if you can't do your job properly you shouldn't be there. Besides, there is a lot more wrong with this place than her. Several minutes later they brought out our mains again, WITH the two missing starters. You could maybe understand a few mistakes if they were busy, but it was still empty. At this point, we were fed up and said we would just have the mains, as it was too late for the starters and we were going to a show so had no more time to waste. We all had the fish which was supposed to be in a tempura batter but in reality was thick and stodgy. It was vile. We left most of it. This place is expensive - even with Tastecard discount, the food is of poor quality for the price and the service is appalling. We were given a further small discount on the bill which was appreciated, but really we should have only paid for the drinks - it was that bad and put a dampener on a special evening with my family, who I don't see very often. Copthorne Tara is an otherwise nice hotel and the Brasserie is letting the side down - they need to overhaul this restaurant or close it.

We arrived late from our train trip from Scotland. We checked-in at Copthrone Tara and decided to stay in the hotel to eat. We selected to the Brasserie Bar right behind the front desk. The Brasserie had a very good menu. My wife ordered the Omelette with cheese, onion, green pepper. Also, fries came with her dish which she substituted with chips. I had the Spaghetti Veg Arrabbiata Sauce with mixed peppers, shallots and garlic in basil tomato sauce. Best spaghetti dish that I have had in a long time. We were very impressed by their maître d’. After order was taken he took the time to check in on us. He welcomed us and asked where we were from, how our day went and our plans for tomorrow. We asked him some information and he took the time to go look it up for us. He was just one of the friendly people working in this hotel. Overall, very good meal with great service!

I walked all around Kensington to find a pub showing the Champions League, to no avail. So ended up, rather reluctantly back at the hotel, and the Brasseries. I think I was in luck.

Several of our group decided to eat dinner here. We all chose the Monday special which was chicken fajitas. They were very tasty and a nice change after eating pretty bland food on our 19 day trip.

After getting back soaked and changed we had a bit of food in the Brasserie and a few beers. Nice staff and good food.

There is no point in going out unless you want to, we enjoyed everything we had at the hotel. Breakfast was a little busy but we did not have to wait long for a table.

Never in all my life have I spent so long with an empty glass in front of me, whilst sat at a bar, opposite a barman, without getting served.

We stay at the Copthorne pretty regularly and from time to time we used the Brasserie for a late night stop gap. Always open and friendly staff who are always very willing to assist. The menu is a little limited but if you just need something after the theatre or cinema this is great b

Set behind the reception area the Brasserie offers a selection of hot dishes and a full bar. The food is freshly served hot and good size portions and reasonably inexpensive. We had good service as at 3 pm it was not particularly busy. It was just what was required after 3 and a half hours in the car.

Offers a great breakfast buffet . Staff extremly friendly and welcoming . Evening meals reasonably priced fantastic cocktails .

Plenty of breakfast options here. Chinese congee, scrambled eggs and croissants galore. Staff offers coffee or tea seconds after you are seated and they are around if you need a refill.

When you enter "The Brasserie" take a right turn and go into the "Artist's Corner". This is a quiet, separate...

I like this place, is a trendy restaurant, we mneed to wait a little, and we got a few problems of comunication with the waitress but nothing importar, they have in some products good prices but another a littlebite overpriced for our "latin" pockets, anyway, i like thus place.

I ordered the chicken biryani. It suppose to come with raita, sliced salad & poppadoms. None of them came with it. That doesn't taste like biryani at all. It does like plain rice with Seasoned chicken. very disappointed!!

It was all great.. Having a decent breakfast.. Then this monster of a chef turns up at the buffet screaming and telling off people, mostly senior citizens, for leaving the lids of the Bain maries open.. Guests did not know what hit them.. Waitresses just watched in amusement. The guy kept disappearing into the kitchen and coming back every few minutes to lash out more of the same.. Disgusting behaviour.. Shame...

The Brasserie has a very limited choice of drinks and they're very expensive. It's also pretty characterless.The food is ok, not great. I had 50% off dining with my tastecard, I wouldn't have been happy had I paid full price.It's in a great location and there are plenty of really good restaurants and bars within walking distance.

The staff are pleasant and helpful. The food served are good and not too pricey. May be noisy at times but that's expected of a cosy restaurant isn't it?

We had the opportunity to enjoy the restaurant on several occasions while at the Copthorne Tara Hotel. The first night, they catered our group in the dining room with chef favorites. The main course was pork chop but it was probably the most tender and tastiest pork chop I've had. The breakfasts were served up with a variety of foods, something for everyone!

Used to have breakfast every day here. The buffet breakfast is scrumptious. Staff very helpful. nice ambience.

Okay pretty pricey but first day had to try the fish and chips. It was massive and couldn't finish, but all in all, very relish. Total bill 25 pounds for this and 2 big bottles of water. So ya, super ripped. The hotel sucks, but the restaurant is amazing.

I am always hesitant to order steak in restaurants but on this occasion, my friend and I really had a craving for a good steak so we both decided to try our luck. We were not disappointed...in fact, the steak was outstanding....succulent and tender and beautifully presented. Kudos to the Chef that night ! Special thanks to John and Liam, who made each and every night at the Brasserie a warm and pleasant experience and to Maria at breakfast, who is the only reason I have a hot breakfast in the Brasserie instead of the Club Room.....you are all awesome....thank you !!

The Brasserie in the Copthorne Tara hotel was our place for the end of the day food and drink. Both the food and service was excellant. Nothing was too much trouble for the serving staff and they were very efficient and pleasant, even when they were being hasseled by an obviously over the top hotel manager. All in all a excellant experience 10/10
