popped in on Christmas Eve after enjoying the carols in the precinct which was a vibrant affair, had a pint in the village bar, vibrant and full of life and Christmas joy. then made the mistake of visiting the White Horse. The landlord was very drunk and surly to me. the regulars were, as always crowded at the bar near the entrance which always make anyone intimidated when coming in to the public bar, Mark made it clear I was not his friend, he didn't like me and told me it was my fault the pub was closing down on Christmas day as I and other villagers didn't use the pub enough. oh, the pub is open today, but will i go in... probably!

Fantastic party booking for Sunday lunch. Carvery, beef (very nice but not available rare) and pork, also fish and chicken available if preferred. Nice hot plates to keep food warm, and all food nicely cooked and presented, waiting staff service at your table for drinks were very pleasant as was the bar staff & well trained. Cost was £62 per person two courses including drinks, only grumble was eyes too big for my belly as there's plenty! We will definitely go again

THIS CAFE DESERVES TO BE MORE WELL-KNOWN THAN IT ALREADY IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STOP FOR VISITORS TO THE RIVERSIDE PARK & DOG WALKERS ALIKE. ( DOGS AND HUMANS WELCOME.) FURTHER PRAISE IS IN ORDER, FOLLOWING A GOOD BREAKFAST WE DEPARTED ONLY TO FIND MY WIFE HAD FORGOTTEN HER HANDBAG A HURRIED RETURN TO FIND THE STAFF HAD PLACED IT BEHIND THE COUNTER FOR SAFETY. PRAISE INDEED.

We came here for lunch last weekend for the first time and the food, staff and vibe were just spot on. The beer garden is one of the best in St Albans and inside will be really cosy in the winter too. Loads of beers on tap and we can massively recommend the burgers! We live near several other pubs in the centre of town and we think the food is easily the best here. Excited to come back soon!

This was our first experience of a cat cafe. Menu extremely limited, we tried to look up info on what sort of food and drink was served ahead of visiting but there is no mention on the website or social media of what to expect. For anyone thinking of visiting there is a range of tea and coffee options with milkshakes and soft drinks, food options are all pre package sweet treats like brownies, flapjacks and cookies or you can have packets of crisps. This is probably done for expediency as the sessions are limited to one hour so there is no time to prep food. It was clean and relaxed environment, when you are welcomed in there a few simple house ruled largely about not stressing out the animals which are all fair. Overall pleasant experience.

This place has really gone downhill. It was great at first but now OMG poor quality food, stale tiger bread and worse of all rude staff and ruder management, never again. Avoid at all costs.

Had a nice meal for 2 here. Decor and building is lovely, service was efficient and meals came out quickly. A decent choice on the menu, not insanely expensive depending on what you chose. Chocolate brownie dessert was delicious.

For less than £20 per head, you can have a delicious 3 course meal in the restaurant. The food was served with no rushing, tables laid, staff ready to serve and get a drink from the bar if required. No hurrying for somebody else to take your place and shall definitely be returning. Extremely enjoyable.

The Queen's Head could quite easily be missed if you don't know where to find it, as it is hidden up the old Bedford to Cambridge (Roman?), road just off of the market square, it is also the oldest pub in Sandy dating (as an Ale House), from at least 1642 & has the character to carry it off. Tall people be aware, some beams are a bit low! I attended a friends wedding anniversary party last weekend & had a fantastic time. The catering (done in-house), was amazing & the private area in the garden made for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon & evening. The Queen's Head has a good choice of beers, wines etc. "Kitchen Takeovers", & food truck visits. It has a large garden & courtyard style outside seating area, as well three room indoor bars. This is a classic Good old traditional British pub with none of the gimmicks of bi monthly "Festivals", etc taken up by other pubs.
