Grosvenor Casino Restaurant in Southend-on-Sea

For less than £20 per head, you can have a delicious 3 course meal in the restaurant. The food was served with no rushing, tables laid, staff ready to serve and get a drink from the bar if required. No hurrying for somebody else to take your place and shall definitely be returning. Extremely enjoyable.

Arrived at the restaurant at 19:55, after waiting for 15 minutes, had to go and ask staff if we could have some menus. Waited a further 20 minutes before our food and drinks orders were taken, 15 minutes later our drinks arrived. 2 out of 4 food orders arrived at 21:10, 2 out of the 4 food orders arrived and had to wait a further 20 minutes for the second 2 orders to arrive by this time 2 of us had already finished our meals. Asked if it was possible to speak to the manager to which the server replied, “you’re talking to him” and proceeded to walk away. Absolutely appalling wait times and service from the staff, will not be returning any time soon. If I could vote 0 I would.

What a fantastic night! Food was Absolutely delicious, entertainment was fantastic and the service was excellent. The staff on duty on our visit are an absolute credit to the company. We will definitely be returning.

Excellent customer service by the waiters. Delicious food & drinks available. A place to visit if you want to have a good time.

Visited with a group of friends, waited for over half an hour after being seated, had to go and find someone to take our order. Order taken, then a wait of about 45 minutes before first meals started to appear. Food not very appetising or well presented. All in all, not an experience to be repeated. Compared to the Rendezvous Casino and restaurant, very poor value

Went for a meal before going into the casino. Have eaten here before but unfortunately we had a problem with one of the meals this time as the steak was too tough, however it was handled extremely well and will definitely be going back

Four of us went and had a good Sunday lunch. Beef and turkey were available and the portions were very generous. The staff very helpful and friendly. Service a little slow and they had run out of horseradish otherwise they would have got 5 stars.

the food is fine the staff very helpful and do there best for you I had steak cooked how I wanted it and my partner had fish which was again very good .could hear another table complaining about the time it took to get there meal and as they came in after us I don't know want they were moaning about , or is it if we shout loud enough we will get something of our meal I did feel sorry for the staff .

Visited for a birthday meal with my parents, had been here before and aware the service was not great. Unfortunately this was significantly worse. The starters probably took 30mins, the mains prob took at least another 30-45mims after we had finished our starters. And then the dessert probably took another 30mins after we had ordered that. The wrong dessert was brought out, so we sent it back. Another 20 mins went by while the same plate and another dessert came came back. We went over again that this is not what we ordered but we could not face waiting another 20mins so we just said we would eat it anyway. The waitress said she would try and get it off the bill. The bill again took a while to arrive with the incorrect dessert still listed on the bill. To which my father then complained and the waitress called the manager. My father and the manager exchanged a few words, however I'm not sure the manager saw the full situation and suggested it was a "till error" either way this didn't not explain the extremely slow service. There was about one or two other tables at the restaurant, so I wouldn't have liked to know what it would have been like if they were actually busy. The manager said the staff member that was serving us was new and they were low on staff. The manager said they would take the dessert off and my father exchanged a further few words while she was doing so as it seemed to be taking such a long time for her to do this to. She came back and said she had cleared the bill so we don't need to pay anything. Overall the food itself was good, the service was probably the worst service we had ever experienced. The food and the gesture from the manager to give us the food and drinks on the house is what stopped this from getting a 1. We wasn't expecting to pay nothing, but I suppose as a casino they can easily afford to lose this amount to help with customer satisfaction.

Went on Thursday for our Christmas lunch - excellent value for money, service was brilliant and the food was good. Same price as last year - all my guests were blown away and we won at the roulette table!

on our way to visit our family we arrived at this place and it had decent atmosphere we hoped the food was the same however it wasn't.

Took my Dad here for lunch, last minute decision. We got in with no problem, it was not busy. Not sure why as we had a really great lunch for £6.95. Proper roast beef, roast potatoes, parsnip and veg. I had intended to have two courses but could only manage one. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a great view of the pier, would be better if they did not have the thick net curtains. Would definitely go again, very good value for money.

Myself and my Fiancé came here for dinner early last month and I was sadly disappointed. There was a bad atmosphere, a lot of waiting around and the food was over priced considering the quality and the Luke warm heat. The most prominent part of the experience was how rude and loud the staff were, they were hanging around the tables talking, dropping cutlery constantly right next to our table and smashed at least three things, it was like we were sitting in the kitchen. I asked one member of staff about cocktails, he said they did them, I asked if there was a menu or what cocktails they did and he just shrugged and replied 'I can do you a mojito'. Thankfully the trip was saved by one particular member of staff Aidan, he was so sweet and the only person in the whole building who actually seemed to care about his job and the customers, if it wasn't for him we would have probably left a lot earlier.

Food looked good but didn't taste it I didn't even get a main course as they just left steak on the table for me that I didn't order as I was I the toilet

The restaurant menu is well priced with good choice of meals. The staff are cheerful and helpful which is always a bonus and the food was good. The bar meals have on occasions been lukewarm along with the lattes

Just say to the girl on the desk is it ok t visit and you are in,the atmosphere is lovely ,we sat on the balcony at the back enjoying a drink looking out at sea and listening to the high and low rollers either happy or tired because they had been gambling all da,you don't have to be rich to have a flutter but please set a limit ten pounds is enough o have a go! Did we win no ! Did we enjoy the place yes we did so many glamourously wealthy people and we had wooly hats scarfs and parkers on but every one is so friendly we loved it great place try it ,good luck to staff see you in the summer again!

They laid out the table beautifully and put banners up. The accommodated us at a wonderful table and gave us an extra one for gifts and cards. They made sure we were comfortable throughout the evening and continuously ensured we had everything we needed. VERY friendly and EXTREMELY helpful staff. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Splendid food and lots of choice for all the family. You MUST visit here!

I understand NYE is a busy one in most restaurants. I also understand it must be difficult to find staff willing to work. That aside, we booked to have a five course dinner which obviously, takes a fair amount of time to get through however what we experienced last night, for £50pp, was absolutely terrible. We sat at our table at 8.30pm, we weren't seen too or offered any drinks until 9.20pm and when we did order drinks, they were the complete wrong drinks and we waited ages for it to be remedied. We were given canopes at the same time as getting drinks and then it was 10.35pm before we got our starters!! Felt like forever. We skipped the course in between starter and main, simply because it was coming up to 11pm and at this rate, we would have missed the countdown to the new year. Plus, no one likes eating at that time of night. We didn't bother with dessert or the last course but still had to pay full whack! 1 of the 3 staff members serving kindly offered to give us a bottle of champagne because one of our party were actually refusing to pay, so I appreciated that however, it didn't make up for paying £50 each, for 2 average course meals, waiting hours for food and drinks and generally just having a poor experience after choosing to spend a very important night at this casino. We heard so many people complaining so I doubt this will be the only review of its kind. I will not spend NYE here again.

Having had some nice meals at "normal times", the decision was made to celebrate New Year with a group of friends, and to try the Special event menu. With an open aspect to the restaurant, casino area and bar area the ambience soon became lively and at times noisy, but this was a celebration night so was in keeping with the occasion. Canapes and champagne on arrival, wasn't forthcoming, and had to be chased up, and seemed a surprise to some members of staff! these were served eventually at our table! the starters were wholesome and very good, the next "offering" was a "champagne sorbet" which had a most peculiar aftertaste and consistency, which some remarked, resembled "wallpaper paste", what fun! the main courses were eventually served the duck and the beef en croute were delicious, the chicken a bit dry as for the vegetarian goats tart, this was a disaster and inedible! a strange liquid melange! Again with the desserts which were generally pleasant some with cream some with ice cream and not as described! however the "tropical fresh fruit salad with passion fruit coulis and ice cream" which should have been served on a platter with the coulis decoration and side ice cream, turned out to be a large ladle of hard chunks served in a large soup plate!! they were exchanged quickly for the lemon tarts!! finally the coffee and cheese and biscuits had to be chased up with cups set down, no saucers and a mountain of help yourself spoons. The few staff were hard pushed to deal with everything and worked very hard in a pleasant manner, by midnight the "joint!" was certainly jumping, and despite the eccentricities of the meal a good time was had by all.

Foods amazing and well priced highly recommend, we both had the steak was perfectly cooked, staff are friendly and happy to see you and help, well priced and so amazing 2for1 deals and other deals or certain nights in the week !!!!

3rd visit this year. Food fantastic, great staff, Alice was very attentive. Great range of tables, favourite is black jack table. Would be good to offer learner table for poker to improve my knowledge.

Great lunch, good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only small gripes really - white wine was barely cool and Yorkshire pudding was a bit soft. However I would happily go again.

Visited casino with my husband and friends. We had booked a table due to traffic conditions arrived an hour and a half late, had telephoned ahead and was told not to worry. When arrived seated and offered drinks. The service was fantastic, food first class. hot and plentyiful. First time for our friends, thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Will be back as we have 2 birthday celebrations in November.

The service we had was excellent. Soup hot and delicious served with lovely soft bread and the butter was ready to spread not the usual frozen brick. Roast was succulent and well cooked served with fresh veg yorkshire pud and crispy roast potato and a good helping of gravy all of which were nice and hot . Good choice of desert hard to decide which to have.All staff were very friendly Good appearance and very attentive. Will be back again in the very near future. Throughly recommend this restaurant.

We were booked for four people initially but phoned at the last minute to see if they could add another four. No problem, and a table set for eight people was ready and waiting when we arrived. Did wonder whether food and service might not be that good as we were using vouchers but everything was first class. The staff were attentive and the food excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending this venue.

I attended as a group and found the service good but everything took a long time , the food came out not great , chips cold and also the onion rings , I asked for rare steak and it looked similar to an old leather boot.

Visited the Casino with my wife for a meal. Excellent service throughout the evening and some very good offers. Food was fantastic and very good value, will definitely be going back.

Went to the Grosvenor at Southend (attached to the Park Inn Palace) for dinner with friends and had such a lovely time we ended up staying until 2 am! Highly recommend it here for a great night out!

shhh don't tell everyone! but what a great place for sunday lunch for only £6.95!! there are two courses for 8.95 and three for 10.95. although it is in the casino, the restaurant is to one side, (no membership required). There is the beautiful view across the thames to kent looking down on that famous pier. We started with the garlic mushrooms, which were very tasty and not your usual large cap, the sunday roast was a choice beef,lamb or pork, we tried a beef which was a delicious large and tender slice, and the lamb again tender they came with a good portion of selected properly cooked vegetables...so cleared plates then!! after which desserts of chocolate and caramel cake and cheese cake with a mango sauce. All was perfect and served by a friendly and helpful staff so well done. There were other main courses that could be chosen if roast not wanted.
