The best fish n chips I have ever had. The fish is like eating a thick piece of meat. The batter is just right. Delicious thick cut chips. The delivery service is very good. Delivered within 30-45 minutes and piping hot. 5 plus stars everytime.

Perfectly Freshly cooked fish and chips. Light, golden batter on skinless fish. Chips nicely cooked.

Phoned to pre order haddock and chips and they hung up with no explanation so obviously didn't need the business

The reason I have no stars for atmosphere is that I had it delivered to me. This is such lovely fish and chips. Big pieces of fish that are delicious and chips just cooked right. I had a gherkin and my partner had pickled onion and buttered roll. We have ordered 3 times now, because we love there fish and it comes in a lovely oblong box separate from the chips. The delivery girl is so pleasant and the best I have ever experienced. She is so friendly and polite. Will continue to order from Golden Friars, as I think there the best delivery service for fish & chips.

Came to Shoeburyness East beach, the nearest fish and chips takeaway closes at 2pm. Found this place not far from East Beach. Glad we did! Nice takeaway restaurant, prices are very competitive (especially with London prices) And services is brilliant. Was served by a lovely Turkish Lady. Very polite and friendly. Will definitely buy from here next time!

Absolutely disappointed with tonight’s food. Always have a golden friars with my mum as the kebabs are lovely. Was at the in-laws tonight so thought would treat them. Seemed as though it didn’t come from the same place at all. Was plain, bland and completely different salad and no taste whatsoever. It also took an hour & 20 mins to arrive. Even the chilli sauce was pants and that usually blows my head off.

We picked up some chips here on Friday night. I had to wait for two batches of fresh chips before I could get my order. It was an extraordinarily long wait but the chips were cooked well. Not the best potato I’ve had but a very nice crisp. I would return but hope for quicker service next time. Friendly staff including delivery driver.

Very average, everything hot and tasty but that's about it, chips OK batter on fish poor, kebabs OK, chicken is probably the best thing they do, reasonably priced, about right for the area! Everything tastes the same? Must be the oil they use??

Recently moved to the area and thought we would try out our local chippy. I must say we was very impressed. Delicious fish, batter and chips.

My neighbours organised a fish and chip event on Thursday last week and ordered the fish and chips from Golden Friars, it was absolutely delicious. The service was great, delivered on time and was piping hot. Can't wait to use them again.

Fantastic takeaway. Perfectly cooked chips and lovely saveloys. The customer service is top quality; the staff talk to you and sometimes make you laugh - it makes me look forward to coming in here and order food.

I've noticed 5 star reviews must of been under previous owners the chips I bought tonight had been cooked at least 4 times as u bite into the chip it's full of grease and potato is no longer present the fact they serve that to customers is disgusting manage your stock and cook to order we don't want chips left over from Saturday we want fresh chips with potato please go to McCoy's at asda safer there

The food smelt and looked lovely. Shame it wasn't the same experience when eating it. The chips even although they looked lovely and golden on the outside were undercooked and hard and dry inside. Have had much better !

The Golden Friars is a breath of fresh ait to the Renown. The Fish and Chips are tasty and good value, love the pickled gherkins. Equally the staff are always friendly and helpful even though there is usually queues outside the door. All in all a great place and local which makes it even better.

We had an order delivered. They deliver from about 5pm. We had haddock, small chips and salad. Haddock is huge. Tasty. I docked a star as the batter came away a bit with the paper - maybe a cardboard box or foil container might work better. Small chips is a generous portion. Really nice and tasty. Salad is in a foil container and is so fresh. Cucumber, tomatoes, onions etc. Trying to use fast food chains a bit less and use local independent businesses like this instead. Recommended.

I love this place! I have a cod special and kebab salad and chilli sauce, homemade Mayonnaise. I get a couple of wraps and create my own shawarma. The food is freshly prepared and presented. This is a popular chippy and just lovely. There are a couple of tables if you're wanting to eat in. Prices are very reasonable the service is just perfect. You'll have to wait a few minutes to get your order if not ready. Great menu including kebabs and various chicken meals as well as your normal chippy menu..

Ordered from here today and food came after 45min which was not very hot. Food was also missing when I called and complained I was told oh... well I have another 2 orders before but can deliver after when I said no they said ok just tell us when you next order we take it off then. Boy was very rude

Good quality skinned cod, and decent value for money. Have gone here many times in the past and they always deliver a decent meal. The fish has definitely improved since I first started trying this place out, and unlike most chippies, the fish is skinned,which I know is a big selling point for some people I know. Would definitely recommend.

Got a mixed kebab allt was there was 2 different meats hardly a mixed kebab get 4or5 different meats anywhere else

Good friendly staff but everytime I go in to get pie there none or they sell you one that had already gone. The food is good what they do but half 5 in the evening and to have no pies being a big seller in any chip shop and all 3 time they have no pies that has done it for me only so many times or chances you can give a place

Return visit. Was having some outside work done and wanted to feed the hungry workers. Food — Very friendly lady served me. Ordered small portions of chips at just £1.20 each. Freshly cooked and super hot. Hit the spot on a very cold day. Veggies — There’s some options such as Veggie Burger, Egg roll. Not sure if the Spring rolls are meat free. There are also lots of side dishes eg Salad, Peas, Beans. Parking — There’s free parking nearby (opposite Friars school). Delivery — Picked up a leaflet and found out they deliver from 4/4.30pm. It’s free on orders over £10 or a £1 charge.

We're trying to eat at different places for take aways. Golden Friars is near the Friars Community Centre so there's lots of parking nearby. It's also near The Base which offers pizzas. We had chips, saveloy, fried chicken & bread rolls for about £8. Chose medium portions of chips. This was very generous size so will opt for a small portion next time. Really filling meal for £8. The lady serving was very friendly. Knew everybody's regular orders as soon as they walked in. You're just a short drive to East Beach from here so they make an ideal take away picnic before a fresh sea air walk. The chips were generous and very large. Cooked well. Will revisit.

Always use this fish and chip shop portions are massive and fish is allways freshly cooked I would go as far to say this is the best fish and chip shop in town!

We have had fish and chips delivered a few times and the food is always fresh and arrives quick. The kids love the curry sauce I usually order two then make a curry the next day with the left over. The first time I thought it was a fluke as we were new customers but Im pleased to say, its good all of the time and the young lady who takes the orders is polite and helpfull x
