I just had a savaloy and chips that were a total abomination! That savaloy looked like it crawled out of a the bin, and the chips? Don’t even get me started! They were so soggy they could’ve been used as a mop! This was a culinary disaster of epic proportions, and I’m disappointed I wasted my time and money on this catastrophe! Who thought this was acceptable?

This pub is perfect for its great beers. However, the fish and chips had mushy single fried chips and soggy batter. The banger sausage was Soviet or pre-1954 British, with a hair from someone's nether regions. Come here for beer, not the food, unless your food is a packet of crisps; in that case I would have given it 5 stars.

Me and my husband have been regular visitors for many years. The food over the years has always been acceptable, longer wait when it’s busy but understandably so. But we did our monthly visit on a different day and, oh my goodness, the fish and chips was the best I have ever tasted anywhere, and it came out within 10 mins. Presentation was noticeably different and basically everything was top notch. We assumed they had a new cook but after visiting on our regular day we learnt they have 2 cooks, a man and a lady. We have been visiting regularly now the weather is nicer and we’ve worked out the days the lady is cooking.. 😊 It is a shame the gentleman that is cooking doesn’t have the same care for how his fish comes out, it’s unfortunately a long wait, many times overcooked and the salad garnish looks very wilted. But it hasn’t stopped us visiting and enjoying a lovely day out in Leigh on sea, it’s more the lady cooks a mean piece of fish!!. We absolutely love the atmosphere and the range of ales (for the husband!!!) they offer, and always a new option every visit. The staff are all incredibly lovely and they all seem like one happy family, always happy and laughing. Couldn’t recommend The Mayflower enough and the lady cooks on a Monday and Tuesday 😉

Review title: A must for any visit to Southend – the Mayflower! Every time I come to Southend, my first stop is the Mayflower. For me it is an essential stop that never disappoints me. The food there is simply fantastic, and the highlight I have to mention is the vegan beanburger – my absolute favorite! Not only is the food impressive, the staff at the bar is always friendly and the selection of drinks leaves nothing to be desired. Although personally I would rather drink Cola instead of Pepsi - but that's a matter of taste! 😉 Particularly worth mentioning is the take-away window, which tempts with buttered fish and the best fries in town. A real treat for anyone who is in a hurry or just wants something good on hand. Additionally, the Mayflower offers a parking lot right next door, which makes the visit all the more convenient. I'm looking forward to my next visit and can't wait to stop by again. Keep it up, Mayflower – I’ll be happy to keep coming back!

Traditional no-frills pub with tasty fish & chips and friendly approachable service. The name is tied to the Mayflower, the ship in which the Pilgrim Fathers made their voyage to America, which was either built or owned in Leigh. One wall lists the names of all who sailed on the Mayflower. The pub sits at the rear of the Mayflower Fish & Chips and soft scoop ice cream parlor. The interior feels cozy due to the low ceiling and views of the Thames estuary. The outside area is cramped and not inviting. The haddock and chips (£16.50) were perfectly cooked - crispy, flakey, juicy and lightly seasoned. .

This is one of our favourite places for a drink and fish and chips when we go for a ride out - you can park right outside. It was extremely busy for a Thursday as it was a sunny day during school holidays. It wasn’t a problem getting a table inside - our preference - my grilled plaice was very good and my husband had rock eel for a change instead of cod. We sat outside to finish our drinks, sitting at a table in the sunshine

Typical seafront eateries, consider it a bit expensive. For what. I had, sausage sandwich and a cappuccino, about £13
