Cafe One in Hertsmere

Can't understand some of the reviews from 2019. There are no tables and chairs - this is just a counter in a petrol filling station shop that serves coffee and a few basic snacks. Did some of the old reviews actually refer to a different place?

Met some friends for a birthday lunch, we chose it due to logistics. I had the veggie breakfast which I veganised to suit my taste, was offered something in place. The breakfast came with toast or bread and butter (separate). The plateful of food was plenty big enough, all served at a good temperature. I parked out on the road. Would suggest paying for an hour at least. 30 mins is not enough really, as this place gets quite busy and if they have many covers, you may not be out in time.

Hi everyone just to let you all know I went in to cafe 24 by and the women & older men are really nice but then there son came in and tried to treating me because I asked for a breast of chicken and they gave me a leg I have never seen so much aggression

I have visited this cafe a few times over the last couple of months. Food is always a generous portion. There is 30 mins free parking but if cafe is busy better to pay 70p for an hours parking ( maximum stay) as traffic warden walks by regularly On our last visit 12.30 lunchtime midweek our friends were disappointed that there was no roast beef or gammon after they had ordered. Three of us ordered lamb shish. We have had it several times before usually succulent but on this occasion it was dry and sinewy. It always comes with a tasty salad selection, rice or chips and pita bread The lamb curry was very dry and really needed some more curry sauce. Roast chicken was perfect. If I had reviewed this cafe on a previous occasion I would have given 5 stars. The toilet is always clean and well maintained.

Eat in here on average once a week. Always a good range of choice with efficient and helpful staff. A bit disappointed that it was closed between Xmas and New Year though.

A good selection of food, made to a good standard and great value. Staff are friendly and attentive.

This cafe IMO is the best around for miles food is always fast and fresh. But best of all. Amazing and always good amounts would recommend to all

I don't understand why this cafe is so highly rated. It is just your every day cafe selling mostly fry ups. Foods ok but not 5 stars. People need to get out more

Really nice food very tasty and presentable. Staff always pleasant, this was my 3rd visit and will continue to visit regularly.

I ordered a tuna panini which was nice enough - didn't come with a small salad or anything which I was surprised about but then again, I was given what was stated. The prices are reasonable and service is good. The atmosphere was cosy and the cafe is clean. There were some rude customers sitting behind us, playing videos ridiculously loudly on their phones and made a total mess - this of course is nothing to do with the cafe and not their fault, in fact they cleaned up around them professionally and swiftly which was impressive considering how disgusting the customers were!!

Walked in to a very warm welcoming seating area. Popped up to the front rather than being waited on as i was only here for a coffee, but served with a huge smile 😊 very happy staff, coffee is very good price compared to other chains like costa, and tastes just as good :) thank you

I turned up for Saturday lunch the Waiter was Polish and she messed up the whole order bringing us food that we did,nt order when we complained she said that it was her first day and she was stressed they you said just pay for the drinks which we did

We were in Potters Bar and had a Sunday lunch here. The staff were friendly, portions plentiful and great value. The food is the usual café fare with burgers, cooked breakfasts, panninis, omlettes etc etc. All seemed good value.

Climat sympa. Personnel souriant. Bons sandwichs. Bonne restauration simple. Très bon café mokka. Divers sandwichs.

Another of my spur of the moment random Sunday breakfasts!I was not expecting a gastronomic delight looking at the picture of a fried breakfast on an outside display board as it showed those very nasty cheap sausages with questionable meat content to breadcrumb.I chose the set 2 special which stated, egg, bacon, beans, mushrooms, 2 pieces of crusty bread and tea or coffee for £4.90When I ordered this, the friendly waitress informed me that this breakfast came with a sausage, strange because I chose this because it never mentioned sausage.The egg, beans, bacon and mushrooms were all very good, the sausage as predicted was rather disgusting and tasteless. The crusty bread very soft and the coffee milky and weak.My advise, go to the local butcher and make a deal on sausages, I'd rather pay a bit extra and enjoy a tasty sausage.

Came here on Mother's Day for breakfast as we walked out of oakmere after bad service this place was great , food was good the big breakfast was lovely and service was very good and friendly will definitely go back

Very friendly staff and good food. They even supply newspapers which is a bonus for my husband. We go there quite often that as soon as we walk in the door they are making us 2 latte's.

Ended up in potters bar on a wet Sunday lunchtime. Went here as they always do good food. Although service is slow. My husband had a lovely breakfast. I ordered pie & chips. Was nice, but wasn't hot & my pie was cold in the middle.

Having been using cafe one on a regular basis now for a few months and have always found the service and quality of food to be great and excellent value.

I love this place and eat there whenever I am in the area. The food is lovely and served quickly. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive and Katie is an absolute gem. Will be back soon.

I like the offering at this no frills cafe. The food always arrives freshly cooked and the staff are friendly and attentive. One of the better cafés in this area.

I go here so often I should have a loyalty card! Huge portions of all sorts of yummy food. Turkish staples like chicken shish comes with piles of freshly prepared salad, and rice, the roast is piled high with veg and roasties, and chips are in a giant pile. It really says something about a cafe when my kids would rather go here than McDonald . In all the time I have been going here I have never paid more than 6.50 for a meal. I have no idea how they make money with the prices being so cheap but I a very glad they exist. I can't imagine anyone having a bad meal or experience here, go with confidence and enjoy!

The food is lovely! Staff and chef very friendly! They have the big crusty bread with the breakfasts. Quality food!!!!!

Oh my life we went in today for a bite of Lunch......I had a Chicken and Mayo on brown bread. oh it was so nice, proper chicken and the bread was so soft. Husband had scrambled egg and bacon on toast....fantastic was all he said. The ingredients are fresh and really tasty.The coffee is to die for.....Staff really friendly and we are so going back again and again...

Large satisfying portions of real british breakfast...... excellent fast friendly and satisfying service.......

average cafe, was expecting something special and heard rumours of links to miracles in cockfosters? Staff were nice enough but food was your standard food you can get at any greasy spoon

Great value, big portions & good selection on the menu. Often eaten here at lunchtimes with work colleagues, especially nearing pay day when everyone is short of cash! Never disappointed. Haven't tried their breakfasts but if their lunches are anything to go by you won't go wrong!

this was a very ordinary cafe before Pasha and Zeynel took it over last year. since then i have eaten there several times and never had a bad meal. firstly the staff are friendly and efficient, secondly the menu has some real gems on it you don't get at regular cafe's like marinated grilled chicken with rice and a fantastic chopped salad, and it isn't a greasy spoon although they do a huge cooked breakfast if you want it. lastly it is cheap! a roast that will floor you it is so huge for £5. i can take my two bottomless pits of sons there to eat and it is never more than £20 for the three of us.potters bar has lots of places to eat, we aren't short of choice but i chose here more often than not.
