I have eaten here a few times and the food is always fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend.

We have our weekly chips from here and have had for years.....best if area by a country mile

An immaculate spot for the most scrumptious fish and chips. It’s the evening , I am running in and have tried their mussles in provencale sauce. What an amazing dish that is, i couldn’t leave anything else in my bowl, that how yummy it was! Service , was right on top , recommendations, communication and their atmosphere was just beautiful. Let this place keep prospering, what a beautiful restaraunt. I will definetly be back soon to bring my friends and Family over too

Upon walking in to order my lunch I was greeted with the girls back to me looking at the owner. They were miserable faced and didn't make us feel at all welcome. They didn't offer us the lunch priced deal and when I received my sausage and chips it was the size of the lunch offer which was 1.50 cheaper. The staff were all bukey and made us feel unwelcome. We have got a terrible portion size for what we paid 6 pounds. The boy who done my food had his hair all over the place and was not tied back. We waited so long for the food and when we received it, it was not fresh as this would be why the wait was so long but was stale. We will be er go back again ever!!!!

we entered the restaurant and it was empty so it was nice and quiet the staff are really nice we got and it was so delicious!!! and then we ordered dessert it was the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream it was like heaven in my mouth it was amazing defo recommend this restaurant not many people go but the people who don’t go are missing out!!!

By far the best quality fish i have come across for miles around. The chips are crispy. And they do grilled fish of all kinds for those with an allergy Can’t rate them and the staf highly enough

This place is a hidden gem. Great service & Probably the best fish & chips in Hertfordshire. I visit this restaurant regularly and always had great fish and chips . The cod is always chunky and flaky and the chips are perfect size and testy. I normally have my fish & chips in the restaurant rather than take away as I think it’s best to eat you fish & chips as soon as it is cooked. I would highly recommend it.

Don't waste your money! What an awful representation of a chippy! Sit down to person me at was £50 for a large cod and scampi! A portion of calamari was straight out of the freezer, cold, rubbery and we'll just not fresh for their prices! Chips aren't worth mentioning.... This place used to be nice; maybe it's new ownership but definitely not worth it!

Foods OK to be fair, but the people are awful. Often when I've ordered my food, the 2 guys have a chat in their own language and laugh in my direction. The same has happened to my friend too. Not nice people in my opinion EDIT...5 MONTHS LATER got a portion of chips this evening which had a clump of dirt attached to some hair right in the middle. Guy still rude as ever. AVOID this place 👎

In my humble opinion the best fish and chip shop in PB

The food is very good. The wine list contains one red and 4 reds. The service was not so good. It is clear that until the restaurant is as high priority as the take away, this will continue.

Decided on some fish and chips as a takeaway. Awful chips, re-cooked but then poorly. Fish was also poor and not fresh. Never again. Mentioned to the owner and he was not interested.

My first time and it won’t be my last . Due to not being able to drive and collect my fish & chips from my local I decided to do an Uber eat delivery from Harringtons. I’ve always gone on about ordering from there . I have to say the fish was good quality cooked to perfection and chips well what a big portion the box was filled . A little over priced but it was worth it.

Introduced to this fish and chip shop by family. Far from just fish and chips, the restaurant has an extensive menu, which includes apart from others, Lobster! We sat in the the restaurant and ordered the Large Cod, Chips and Mushy peas. We were not disappointed - the chips had a wonderful crunchy texture and lovely taste, and the fish had a lovely battered finish - Truly wonderful! - In all honesty, some of the best fish and chips I have ever had - Certainly must try other delicacy’s that are on the menu - King Prawns, King Scallops, Calamari, Sea Bass, or even pasta such as Linguine Marinere. Highly recommended - You will not be disappointed!

Ordered a delivery of fish and chips and can honestly say it was stunning! The fish was fresh and moist and the chips were also fresh and crispy. It arrived on time and was still hot! This is not the first time we have ordered from here and it most definitely won’t be the last!

So nice that we can eat here again. Always lovely food and great service. The fish is always cooked to perfection.

A little expensive and you have to wait while it's cooked but the best fish and chips I've had for years, will definitely be going back for more.

Massively over priced, served up terribly service is rude

Inedible chips, barely edible cod, made me miss my train because they said it was gonna be 8 minutes when it rly took them 20.

I had a delicious piece of haddock, chips and salad for lunch. Service was lovely and friendly, atmosphere great. Will definitely make this my spot for fish.

Ordered take away from here. Scottish King Scallops “meunière lemon butter” cost £19. Wouldn’t mind the price if they actually tasted of lemon butter. They were (what looked like they were thrown in the tin foil box) with salad and red onion. I could only stomach to eat 3 of them as they didn’t taste nice at all. Crab claws should have come with tartar sauce but instead were thrown in the box of the calamari I ordered as a main dish! Scampi was also mostly oily batter (hardly any fish inside) and the worst I’ve ever tasted. Bad enough that your charged for sauces, but to be charged and they forget to put the sauce in…..? This place is overtly priced and definately not worth it. Not impressed at all and won’t be returning.

Delicious! Tired Harringtons take away fish and chips this evening for the first time and was not disappointed. Everywhere I go, I usually scrape batter of the fish as I hate greasy food, but this fish came in a tasty crispy crumb and was not greasy in the slightest. The fish was really fresh. Chips were chunky and crispy without being greasy. You can tell the oil they use is fresh. I know you pay a bit more for quality food, but I can honestly say, this is definitely the best fish and chips I've had - ever!

Had a takeaway fish and chips. Very disappointed with the chips. I did call the restaurant and discovered the chips are re-cooked. He said they were blanched which to me is a recook. They were warm inside with no steam coming out. And also very hard and less crispy. The fish was no better than other local places so will definitely not be returning. You live and learn and will return to the place up the road.

This place was just awful, to call itself a seafood restaurant is a complete joke. having visited here with my wife for what should have been a nice birthday meal turned out to be an appalling evening. Everything we tried to order off the menu was met with (sorry not available not available) so ended up ordering what was meant to be prawn linguine, which turned out to be more like tined spaghetti with a few prawns dumped on top very bland and tasteless. Not once whilst we was there was we asked how is everything, I believe this is due to the gentleman that served us probably being embarrassed by the standard of food we were given. Looking back it now makes sense why we were the only people in the restaurant at this time, how this place has such a high rating on here has left me perplexed as they can't even get a basic ingredient like pasta correct If you are looking for fish and chips maybe this is for you, as for seafood avoid at all costs and go somewhere that actually has seafood available.

Great battered sausage and chips!

If you are interested in eating freshly caught, quality fish then Harringtons is the place to go. They are a friendly, family run business whom serve up generous portions at decent prices. I always treat myself to the tempura prawns and they never fail to disapoint. If I could give them more than five stars I would do so without hesitation. Keep up the hard work guys definitely through these tough times.

Staggeringly bad. We were given the menu and left to peruse. When we were ready to order, choosing a variety of seafood dishes, we were advised ‘sorry we don’t have that, if you wanted that you should have given us 24 hours notice’. What?! We have to give a fish restaurant 24 hours notice to order fish?! Seriously this applied to at least 50% of the menu. In the end we had what few pieces of sea food they had which weren’t at all well cooked and then had grilled sea bass fillets and chippy chips. The bill was £125 for four! Furthermore the restaurant was freezing cold, so much so we all had to keep our coats on for the whole meal. The whole thing was appalling and very very embarrassing. It’s a chippy. Maybe a good one, I don’t know. But fish restaurant it isn’t!

Unfortunately the restaurant has gone downhill over the last couple of years. It used to be the best fish and chips in Potters Bar, but there are many better options now. I hope they can turn it around

As mentioned in previous reviews the customer service here is a disgrace. The man behind counter with glasses is extremely arrogant and cocky, makes you feel as if he is doing you a favor by serving. Spend your money elsewhere.

My very elderly, frail and distressed father went into Harringtons to ask for help last night after his car broke down outside to see if he could use their phone (or someone to call the AA for him) and was refused outright being told that they weren't a "public payphone". While the fish and chips may be adequate, the staff clearly aren't. I appreciate this may not be the correct forum to leave a review of this kind but after a follow-up call to the shop today, which was dealt with just as dismissively as my father, I felt I had no choice.

Starter: Scallops. Main: Cod and Chips in batter. Washed down with chilled white wine. Great food and attentive service. Pleasant ambience and all round tip top destination for seafood and more.

We eat here every couple of months, often when attending shows at Wyllyotts. The food is rarely anything other than good and the service is sufficiently good that there are no concerns about timing.

Had scampi in Harrington’s last night not very good all batter very little scampi and had an upset tummy today.Restaurant freezing cold eat supper with our coats on. Just found all 3 of us had upset tummy’s from food

My friend and his wife invited us to Harringtons for fish and chips, we both had cod it was so meaty and fresh, chips fried to perfection, fantastic service. Highly recommend.

Just had a scampi take away worst one I have had here.Very little fish inside batter only hard crisp greasy batter.

This is an amazing chippy, I travel a round journey of 60 miles to get my fish and chips from here, everything is cooked fresh and is delicious. Keep up the good work!

I wanted to give 6 stars but then had to drop it to 5 because the restaurant was quite cold! Food was outstanding....fresh, well flavoured and cooked excellently! We had tempura prawns, mussells and fish soup to start and sea bass, prawn linguine and grilled prawns. My daughter (6yrs old) received a lot of attention and engaged with the staff which was great! Well done Harringtons, can't wait for our next visit!

We were visiting the Wyllyotts centre and needed to find somewhere to eat before the show and had a stroll close to the thearte searching for a suitable restaurant, passing the normal McDonald’s, pizza, subway places were pleasantly surprised to find Harrington’s.Not that we were looking for Fish and Chips but they had seating and to looked like a clean and bright place to sit.Well what a pleasant find.Beautiful fish, either battered or GRILLED!Where do you find grilled fish these days in a fish and chip restaurant.My wife had grilled Plaice and thought it was fantastic, I had the scampi, which was battered, nice but I regretted not having grilled fish.I would highly recommend Harrington’s, service was good, tables were clean, and the food was excellent.The restaurant was also licensed.Thank you Harrington’s that made our evening complete (also seeing “The Counterfeit Stones” at the theatre after the meal!)

4 of us for a meal on a Saturday evening. Biggest surprise was that, for most of the time, we were the only diners. A few things on the =menu not available which was disappointing. The food was freshly cooked and served lovely and hot. Portions were good as was the service. Slightly overpriced for what is basically a fish and chip shop but a;ll of us enjoyed our meal.

We have eaten here many times and the food is always excellent. The quality of the fish and the way it is cooked is second to none. Service is very efficient and friendly. Overall, the experience never disappoints. We love coming here.

Last Friday lunch time, we went there for take away, after the order, they told us, it's £3.50 instead of £3.00, no new menu, all my colleagues said OK to pay for the new price, when we were back in the office, notice the chips portion down to one little scoop, it's like 10 chips only, mine even have extra ingredients inside, a HAIR as well. After that price rise with reduced portion and unhygienic lunch, we won't be going back there.

Having been raised in the north of England and now living in London for over 15 years, it's no surprise that I would struggle to find a chippy down south that would match the numerous very good choices available in the north.

Harrington’s is a fish restaurant, which has a take away area and a seating area about 25 people. A wide variety of fish is available, which is always freshly cooked. The fish is fresh and cooked in batter, matza meal or just grilled. The food is delicious and the service good. It is fully licensed.

Lovely fish & chip supper...haddock for me, prawn cocktail, plaice & mushy peas for him...beautifully cooked and accompanied by a nice bottle of rose. However, a little surprised when we came to pay that it’s “cash only”. Be warned, as we nearly had to dash to the atm!

Just 4 of us for a fish and chips meal. The service continues to be helpful and friendly. Not everything on the menu was available but that still left a more than adequate selection. Food was cooked well, generous portions but quite pricey for F&C.; Ambience was lacking but we were there early evening (mid week pre theatre dinner).

Was going to eat in, around 6.30pm on a Friday, sadly the plaice had run out, so it was cod fish wise, so opted for a takeaway of large cod and chips, generous portions, the fish was excellent quality, the chips were a mixed bunch, cooked at different times. No queue and the service was good if a little over the top and intrusive. Noted the restaurant was busy and will try on a future occasion to dine there. A bit more expensive for the takeaway options then the norm, would have given higher rating if the chip quality was consistent.

This is very local to us and is both a take away and a restaurant. Whilst possibly a little more expensive than your usual fish and chips restaurants the fish is always extremely fresh - the restaurant is spotless - the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. We would not have fish and chips from anywhere else.

Thank you for the fantastic fish we had for dinner last night! The batter was light and bubbly and the cod was very fresh and wonderfully flaky. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant is spotless, and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The menu is pleasantly different with some healthy options and great seafood range if you fancy something different. We are glad we tried you and will be back.

Visited with 3 others we all enjoyed our meals, nice sized portions and all well cooked. Fish can be served pan fried or cooked in two types of batter. It was good to be able to enjoy a glass of wine with our fish and chips

My scallops and skate were well cooked, but let down by the lemon wedge on each which was not de-pipped resulting in lemon pips being spread over both dishes, This is simply laziness by the chef in his/her preparation.

Visited Harrington’s for impromptu meal out. Scallops were delicious as was my husbands fish. Lovely food. Very friendly staff. Easy to park near the restaurant which is always a bonus. Probably best fish meal in a fish and chip shop we have had. Slightly pricier than most fish and chip shops but the variety of fish available is worth the extra cost. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious starter of mixed seafood which wasn’t on the menu. Perfectly grilled haddock and chips for the main. Lovely attentive staff. Look forward to coming back, but will let you know in advance so that you definitely have the Dover Sole.

Still as wonderful as ever we won't get fish and chips from anywhere else . Even at the coast . Only place we have found that doesn't cook the fish in the same oil as meat products .

Complete rip off - I asked to eat in, they served me in a box, and when I tried to sit down they said it would cost me an extra three pounds to do so in a totally empty restaurant. Rude and inhospitable

We got fish and chips to takeaway. The cod is very good however at £9 a fish its ridiculously expensive for a chippy! Altogether it was £40 for 4 fish and 3 chips.

This is the Best fish and chip shop in the area and is also a fish restaurant. The fish and chips are really very good, sometimes you have to wait because the food is freshly cooked and it's worth waiting for. They do really great lunchtime deals and the staff are all friendly and helpful and at busy times are rushed off their feet. Can't recommend Harringtons enough.

There is no question the quality of the food and service are excellent but we felt the bill of £140 for four people with a starter each & fish and chip main course each was rather excessive. Drink wise we had a house glass of wine 2 beers and a bottle of water.

Strange idea of take away when chips aren't available to take away without a wait... haven't bothered going back.

It was a bit strange being just 3 of us in this restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime. Excellent service with a wide range of fish on offer. All freshly cooked and served piping hot with a healthy portion of proper chips.Certainly worth a visit.
