This place has really gone downhill. It was great at first but now OMG poor quality food, stale tiger bread and worse of all rude staff and ruder management, never again. Avoid at all costs.

Fantastic cafe in the town centre with a huge menu including daily specials. Best sandwiches, excellent coffee and milkshakes, good quality ingredients and all at very reasonable prices. The staff are amazing, friendly, service is very efficient and as soon as a table is vacated, it is quickly cleaned and usually re-occupied. Other Hertford cafes could learn a few lessons from Hope Cafe!

Great food .nice staff .terrific value. What's not to like? It's always busy and I can see why. they have a large menu for a cafe.all round good experience.

Awful drinks, awful food, awful customer service. Milkshakes are runny and taste like water, staff tried blaming how runny the milkshakes were due to the straws 😂 will not be returning… DO NOT recommend

Needed lunch so after looking at the menu I ordered Carbonara.. Took ages to arrive and it was an enormous plate of pasta, lots of tinned? mushrooms and fatty bacon pieces. I left most of it but for £8 what did I expect? The toilet itself was clean but the floor hasn't been cleaned properly for months. Corners are black with accumulated dirt and the rest of the floor is also dirty especially around the edges. Plenty of soap but the hand dryer kept turning off despite moving hands close to it. No gloves are worn when preparing food despite dealing with cash and clothing touched the bread when they leaned over to reach whatever they needed for the filling. Sorry, but these issues can quickly be resolved.

Absolutely disappointed the staf and the food we ordered was really bad and when asked for the mayonnaise the waitress rolled her eyes like I was asking her to pay me money. Really bad customer service it was our first and last visit

My friend had sat down and ordered a drink and food (as she has done on past occasions). She queried whether staff were meant to be wearing masks and was told in an unfriendly way they didn't have to. When she queried this the manager she was told the same think and 'if you don't like it, go elsewhere'. At this stage one of the waitresses make an upsetting comment in the hearing of my friend. If they expect a return visit they will have to improve how they treat their customers.

I love coming here every week. Prawn roll is my favourite with tea. Hope it won't be long before they reopen because I am really missing this lovely cafe !!! First day they open again I will be front of the quequing !! Xxx

Hope is the café to get your lunch or breakfast from when you're really hungry! The portions are more than generous and their prices are surprisingly low. At work we often phone in a big takeaway order for a range of breakfasts and sandwiches, and they've never once got the order wrong which is an incredible feat in itself! If there are two of you, I thoroughly recommend sharing a Big Breakfast !

Went to Hope cafe for breakfast/brunch. The staff were friendly and were very accommodating to our requests to change/swap items in the breakfast. The menu has more selections that most traditional places so there's something for everyone. The food was great and the coffee was perfect. They only take cash!

This is a traditional cafe in the town centre which has an extensive menu of reasonably priced, good quality food. The owner and his staff are lovely, friendly and efficient. The portion sizes are generous, ingredients always good quality and the service is quick. The place is spotlessly clean and decorated to a good standard, a pleasure to visit. Whenever a table is vacated, it is immediately cleared and cleaned and usually re-occupied. I usually call in for sandwiches which are always generously filled, and their coffee is better and cheaper than the major chain across the road. Milkshakes are delicious too. Other cafes in Hertford could learn a few lessons from the way Hope Cafe is run.

Me and my friend slob love going to Hope Cafe. We always get the Magic Jacket Potato, it is very lush. Sometimes me and slob go mid week 'Hope vibes' as it is a lot better than Tesco Meal Deal. Which slob also very much likes, however he likes Hope Cafe a lot more than Meal Deal Monday.

We have only just started coming here in the last month and so glad we did. Since then we've bee. Three different times and recommended it to family and friends. The staff are always so helpful and up for a chat. The food is very good quality for the price. So cheap compared to other places in Hertford. Other places would charge at least twice the price for half the portion size. Will continue to be a regular from now on.

Lovely clean cafe serving really nice reasonably priced food ! The staff are so nice always helpful and kind I give them as much custom as I can ! Highly recommend!

We called into the Hope on the off chance whilst walking in Hertford. We were pleased by the service and choice of food. The portion sizes were good and were good value for money. Unpretentious atmosphere. Would recommend. The only down side was they don't take cards and don't make it that clear when you arrive.

Welcoming staff and a real clean and tidy cafe. The food we ordered which was a big breakfast and scrambled egg on toast was cooked to perfection with swaps as we had asked for them. The portions were great and the meal was served on plates that really complimented the cafes design. Will happily return again.

I tend to use the same café in Hertford if I’m treating myself to a full English but decided to try the Hope on this occasion and was not disappointed.The food was excellent and the service both friendly and attentive. The café has a nice feel to it and was very clean.The menu is quite extensive for a ‘café’ and the prices competitive to other eateries in the area. Would recommend to anyone looking for breakfast in the area!

This is by far the best cafe I have visited in the area, we have been a few times now and it never fails to please, thee service and food is outstanding.

Been here a few times on a Sunday for brekkers or brunch. Boy they know how to poach eggs (I have Eggs Royale) and my family have come and had full English all of which is superb. Great service. A real upgrade from previous owners.

Fish finger sandwiches bit disappointing no butter and just under a fiver. Nice atmosphere, clean and comfortable. Prices a little too high for me. Too nice for a cafe. Not quite a bistro. Would go again but not quite what clientele they are aiming for

Opened about 6 months ago, I think, and now clearly the best place for informal meals and snacks in Hertford. We are regulars for a late breakfast or brunch. You can have the normal full English breakfact options if that's your choice, but there's smoked salmon and avocado as an alternative, or huge helpings of yoghurt, granola and fruit. Tables are always clean, the cutlery spotless, and service very quick. A great addition to a town where the competition between cafes is already intense.

Came across this great place when we where walking around near Christmas.the place was clean and well kept staff where polite and helpful and friendly.

Surprisingly upmarket Cafe, clean, well laid out and with a large Menu for a smallish unit! The Food is good and portions are generous. I especially enjoyed an Omelette with chips and Salad. Very busy at Lunchtime so choose another time to enjoy this place. They have a good number of friendly and helpful Staff and the Owner/Manager is particularly obligingl. Well worth a visit.

popped in the other day after saying i would give it a go..always been a fan of the cafe up the road but must say hope has got me in the palm now..i did order the hope special but a smaller breakfast come out which in the end was enough to fill me up..friendly staff from the old cafe now running here..give it a go you will love it !!!

Newly revamped and new ownership! Clean tidy fresh and relaxing .... Been a few times over last couple of weeks - this is definitely now the best ‘Cafe’ in the town... Inexpensive too... I’ll be back again and again...

For a tasty lunch at a very reasonable price I can highly recommend Hope. The menu has a wide selection of food which is of good quality and well prepared. The quality of food is even better than most of the more expensive cafe's in the area and I am delighted that they can offer food like this at these prices. The coffee is also very good, whether you like black coffee or a caramel latte, the quality is amazing for the price. If you are hungry, don't waste your money in Costa across the street, I can definitely recommend hope as you will likely get better food, for a lower price.
