The Port Jackson in East Hertfordshire

Popped in for a meal when passing through on a Saturday evening. Service was fast, and the food was fantastic. Very busy, certainly good for Wetherspoons, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Security doormen were lovely.

Had a lovely breakfast with the family, very friendly pub and high standard of customer service from Tanya

Walking in I was expecting minimal service for minimal price. I got the complete opposite. Staff incredibly friendly and happy to help in any way possible. Thanks for making my first experience here a good one. Erin and her colleagues were nothing less than amazing. Thanks

Great food, quick service. Noisy people around us, even on a Tuesday night! I had the steak and my wife had the Ramen noodles and chicken which was as good as anything from Wagamama's in our opinion...

A bit like a bus shelter full of people waiting to claim social benefits. Honestly why do people drink here....answer " its cheap and cheap is not always good". I had to put one star to post but its 1 star negertive. The staff are really rude and spend more time talking to each other about there tattoos. Really I had to walk out its so toxic. Never been in a greasy spoon before but now I know why I dont do cheap.

Extremely rude member of staff, told me and my parents to and I quote ‘eat quick and leave’ as we had a dog with us in the garden who was sitting there wasn’t barking or causing any problems, the waitress brought out our drinks and didn’t say a thing about the dog but as soon as we get our food it’s a problem? Completely put off returning here due to the down right rudeness we experienced like I work in customer service myself and there was no excusing that behaviour.

Visited this place for the first time in many many years. A lovely location for a midweek midday lunch. I had the Ramen which was fairly well priced. Ramen - tasted pretty bad unfortunately. The included veg was fine but the soup itself was really quite bad, hot river water with prepacked veg. Staff were friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was great, at time I went there wasna lot of pensioners, babies and a few groups of young-mid aged people. Everyone seemed friendly enough from the interactions I had. Location is very nice, right next to the river, good outdoors area and there's an upstairs seating area indoors, the building is nicely sized. I would recommend this pub, its great especially for a Weatherspoons! P.s. the toilets are very nice compared to other Weatherspoons Inhave visited.

We were there with my boyfriend to have a dinner. We ordered some fish and burger from chicken fillet.. It was super burnt and not possible to eat. After I told to someone from the staff they offered me to bring me another one, but the second one was still alive..

Average breakfast, but pints were served at 10 am so not a terrible experience

I decided to try the breakfast as I had some time between appointments. The place was not crowded, the food was good and the service as you would expect at Weatherspoon's. As soon as I ordered online (using the Weatherspoon's app) , a member of staff brought me a mug an directed me to the Coffee/ Chocolate machine and I was told I could have free refills. The food arrived shortly after, and was good quality. For £4.11 it waz excellent value, and I will use this establishment again

It's reputation belies the experience. The staff are really professional, very hardworking and friendly. The manager should take real credit for creating such a busy, efficient , clean and enjoyable pub where you can buy a pint of leading brands ( eg Ruddles Bitter) at £1.99. the food was well prepared And served quickly . Other pubs in Stortford shall struggle to compete with this offering .

I love WetherSpoon itself but this one is very nice. Service and the atmosphere is good, near to airport so you can eat here and drive to the airport 🙃

As far as spoons go, this is probably the best one I have been in, very modern and fresh compared to some others, Plenty of different types of seating available we had a party of ten and we very easily fit around one of the big stooled tables, apart from a couple of crying young children the rest if the atmosphere was nice warm and welcoming, I know it's a pub/restaurant but maybe something for the younger kids would be good? The food was very nice with a very quick service from the kitchen via the app. Also, the drinks from the bar via the app arrived swiftly, although it was quite busy the staff was friendly and accommodating. Over all a pleasant experience, would definitely return if I'm ever in the area.

I haven't eaten here so I wouldn't know. Apparently there is a game app where people buy you drinks and then pay it forward....great idea, we certainly did have a few .

Me and my wife decided to come to Port Jackson to have a Lunch and enjoy our day off together as we deservedly after a hard week of worked,  we ask for a meal (I deduce that you can confirm the contents of the meals and their drinks through the receipt) first we received the drinks, and I realized that the glass u came with my drink was completely dirty with lipstick still on the edge of it. We made the complaint and the waitress cordially took away the dirty glass and brought me another glass in perfect condition, apologizing for the inconvenience, which we accepted without any problem as it is something that can happen for this or that reason. After this and at a moment when i was truly relaxed with my Wife, our meals arrived at the table and my Wife tasted the fries saying they were cold, i went to check mine which were also in the same condition, we called back the waitress who had served us, and mentioned the fact regarding the fries, He cordially apologized to us again, taking the dishes in order to rectify what had happened. After a few minutes the waitress returned to us with the same plateson hands, with the same potatoes and my sirloin stake that i had ordered medium-rare, boiling next to the peppercorn that melted between the steak and the plate. At that same moment i asked him if by chance the chef had put my dish in the microwave, to which he replied that yes, the dish was in the microwave because it needed to be heated. I didn't even wanted to believe in this, but this is exactly what happened and my steak was now in a well-done state besides my wife's chiken burger was also completely dry. The waitress went away to talk to the Chef, but it took so long and i was already so upset that i just wanted to leave, i didn't want to believe that this was happening to me like this on a day when everything was going well. I felt so good until the moment i entered this pub/restaurant and now I was upset due to poor service that was very bad from the beginning. I took the plates and went directly to the kitchen balcony to send them back and demand new meals in suitable conditions for consumption but this time without using a microwave, please. I was so upset that i wasted so much time and that my day off was ruined by people without any professional level to respond to the demands of a business of this type that serves customers and certainly needs them to carry on with their business, pay kitchen professionals (if they are really) to ruin their business by means of negligent actions are unacceptable and they must be reported for the benefit not only of your customers but also of the business itself. Finally, once our meals arrived at the table, we were able to enjoy some tasty and this time well prepared dishes. Halfway through the meal, first the waitress who had been serving us approached us to ask if everything would be ok, to which my wife replied that she couldn't say everything was ok given all the surroundings, but that the meal was really good. very good this time. I'll finish by saying that while we were still at the table, we received a visit from another employee who wanted to refund our meal, which we promptly refused because after all, we enjoyed the meal and we didn't want to make it seem like we were trying to leave here without paying the bill. Note: The fact that made me decide to make this complaint was and will always be with the intention of this contributing to constructive analysis and not to destroy anything or anyone in particular.

One of the nicest Wetherspoons. Great pub, nice attentive staff and of course, sensible prices.

Been in there 4 times ,tried to order the spicy noodles and only once did they have it.. not good !!!

Like a bad penny I'm back in the Port Jackson after a few months away, in general the more experienced staff are spot on, a few younger members could benefit from a customer training course and how to serve ales and who's been waiting to be served. Great beer as usual and very clean toilets, (I've only used the gents) All in all a great pub, I'll always use the Port Jackson when I'm back in the UK.

When in a different place/town/aeroport we look for JD's... Rough idea what you are getting and straight forward fare... Another one to tick off the list

Now that Bishops Stortford has been invaded by blocks of flats in every direction, from Spoons you can at least still see the River Stort whilst dining there. For a more peaceful meal, go upstairs.

Didn't have food but really good atmosphere great pub

Ordered the meal that was advertised on the table, they didn't have it! Had to chose another, was ok, typical Wetherspoons. I'd appreciate a separate area for adults as on the day I was there ( lunchtime) it was like a playschool, I know they need the custom, but a seperate area for those who don't want children's noise would be good

It's a Wetherspoon so you should know what to expect. However if there is anything like a "posh" Wetherspoon - that's the one. Food is alright - typical Spoon quality, drinks quite cheap, friendly staff, place always busy. Recommended 😊👌🏻

It's a regular Wetherspoons. Staff friendly and helpful. Not too crowded on Sunday lunch.

The qr code on the menus is broken, and the Weatherspoon food ordering app crashes and resrarts after selecting a pub& table number.

Excellent "Spoons", set in the heart of Bishop Stortford, next to the river plenty of outside dining..

Great pub. However, the staff would need to be retrained (clearing tables, delivering what the guest ordered, and not leaving items off. The fresh food on the ground floor comes out the same little window where the dirty dishes are going back to the kitchen, this would need to be replanned.

Food was okay, only let down by the lack of soft drinks and some alcoholic drinks. There was an issue with some pumps.

Lovely location, great service from a very friendly team that seems to he very happy in their work. Both food and drinks were second to none. As ever, Wetherspoons value for money can't be beaten, pity the other big breweries can't take some learning but others think being pretentious means value for money goes out the window. During times of austerity, only the fittest will service, well done Mr Tim Martin, you're not going to be the Wilko's of the pub industry

Avoid this place, dirty carpets, smelly, disgusting unhygienic bathrooms, bad atmosphere and rude staff. Cheap drinks and food mean one thing, low quality and cheap staff.

It was such a great visit, the dishes are not expensive and they are delicious, the only bad part of it was that I used the app and although the payment went through it did not process my order, I suggest ordering from the bar, that will hopefully bounce back to my account.

Posto bellissimo e molto spazioso. Personale competente e gentile. Molto veloci a preparare le ordinazioni e sapore del cibo ottimo. Ampia scelta di birre e soprattutto tutte molto buone. Prezzi bassi. Ampio parcheggio a pochi metri di distanza .

I didn't eat here but a perfectly decent place to drink with friends. Better than most JD Weatherspoon pubs. Also bumped into Bobby Norris from TOWIE.

I've been here at different times of the day. This was my first time for breakfast. It was very quiet and a lovely hot morning. The outside seating area was very pleasant and was being well used. The food was lovely, I ordered on my app. My cup was bought to me for my drink and very quickly followed by my breakfast. It was well presented, hot and as I'd expect. After I'd finished I asked one of the staff for directions to a particular bus stop (im not at all local). The lady was really friendly and we chatted for a minute and she gave me directions. When I'm visiting my family, this is always where I eat when I'm in town.

Just been in for some lunch and the food was absolutely awful. Ordered a pizza and weren’t cooked properly and the staff were so bloody rude

The service was so fast! And the food is much improved since I last visited. Lots more healthy meals on the menu.

The food was quite bad, the ham was completely solid and dry and the egg had solid grey yolks, hollandais was too vinegary. Service was quick and efficient and the general atmosphere was great with good decour and quite clean for a spoons. Would visit again for a pint.

Very disappointed, ordered jacket potato with coleslaw, but they didn't have coleslaw so had cheese instead, when it got to the table, it was cold and was barely any cheese, didn't even end up eating it. My fish was nice, but left most of batter as was so fatty and chips were cold. After they said they would give us a little discount on dessert only they had no ice cream so ended up not even getting one, walked out of there £20 lighter and still very hungry. Very disappointed

Family friendly and clean. We had some dinner here using the app to order which was easy to use, the food came quick and was a good price. The kids liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch and again the service was good again.

Last two time we have been there food has been awful and needed to be sent back. Burgers cold, chip cold and chicken so over zapped you cant even cut it. We were not the only ones returning food on both occasions. awful food good beer

Really nice spoons. Sat outside on a hot day and it was a good vibe. There was some idiot shouting and causing a scene and staff and security were striaght on it and removed the issue. Lot's of inside and outside seating. Friendly staff.

A vibrant town centre pub. Lots of fun people around. The reliable wetherspoon menu takes the guess work out. There is segregation between outside areas into smoking and non smoking zones.

Had a lovely time with old friends that went to college with over 50 years ago, staff food where great and drink helped too.
