Second time at High Lodge, this time in Nightingale Lodge. Staff on arrival were welcoming and helpful. The lodges are in a lovely location, it's quiet and well out of the way. The lodge was kitted out with everything you could need (the only things missing that I thought we'd had before were dressing gowns and a hairdryer but I could be wrong). Bed was comfortable and bedding was high quality. The hot tub was clean and always at a great temperature. Wi-Fi was great which you don't always get at such a secluded location. Huge shower and bath were great. There's an occasional pong in the bathroom up through the pipes but not surprising because of the location. Lovely stay yet again and got to see the best sunset ever!

Lovely week away in spotlessly clean Beech Lodge, felt very safe with all the COVID-19 precautions put in place. The staff were welcoming and helpful, we had a couple of breakfasts at the club house which were very tasty. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings, our son had a round of golf most days, good value using the weekly pass. Ideally situated for Southwold and Aldeburgh. We will definitely book here again.

We booked a table in the restaurant for Father’s Day for our family and really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided a great service throughout the meal. The food was lovely, and there were a great variety of vegetables to choose from. 😊 We especially enjoyed choosing from the large range of lovely desserts on offer. We will definitely be returning.

I booked a few weeks in advance, for the Sunday cravery as it was a Wedding Anniversary and birthday treat for April 21st. We were both very impressed with the layout and polite and attentive staff. We arrived and were shown to our table, asked if we wanted a drink, which arrived promptly to us,and invited to go and get our meal when we wanted to. I shall certainly be making friends and family aware of what an excellent , place it is. Will certainly not be our last visit, will make Sunday cravery a regular treat. Thanks to all staff and owners your efforts are well appreciated

I think this year the midweek carvery on 19 Dec 18 was new to High Lodge. Thought we’d give it a go as we have eaten in the restaurant previously following archery. Made a reservation for 12:30. The room was pleasantly decorated and spacious. Greeted nicely by the team on duty and guided to our table. A drinks order was taken. As this is a carvery we were able to go to the food counter and request our choice(s) of meat. Being a Christmas one went for the turkey. Loads of vegetables to choose from and usual turkey accompaniments (see photo). The server was very pleasant and welcomed us. Had plenty to eat and the quality very very good. Had a long break before desserts and chose Christmas Pudding! Oh by the way there were two Christmas crackers on the table for us. Just had soft drinks with the meal - our decision. The restaurant was fairly busy and well patronised. On leaving after paying the bill we were offered mince pies to take with us - nice touch. The cost was very reasonable in view of what we had and the quality, ambience and friendliness of the entire team. All in all a jolly nice meal and couple of hours spent at High Lodge. As a one off midweek the Christmas Carvery was excellent. I believe the Sunday Carvery during December is offering something similar.

Visited High Lodge with a group of Friends for the Clay Shooting. Great layout,Targets & to boot a well presented breakfast. Would recommend that you try this Ground if you haven’t already. I also read earlier comments from strange people, they turned up for a Carvery at a registered Clayshoot & Oh dear they heard guns. What are these people on. What did they expect dancing girls ? They really need to get a life.

Went there last Sunday with two friends for the carvery. Excellent choice of meats and veg. Asked for veggie option and was given a lovely vegetable bake, thinly sliced potatoes with veg in a nice sauce underneath, accompanied by a jug of vegetarian gravy. Service outstanding. Not too crowded. Lunch is in a function room but drapes on ceiling give it a cosier atmosphere. Would definitely return. Price £10.95.

Visited high lodge today for a few clays with a friend and decided to have a Sunday carvery after. Plan seemed quite good but in reality it was much different. Clay machines stopped working, a lot of no birds. Quite dangerous, got hit on the head with a broken clay a few times! Good job I was wearing glasses! The most important thing was the poor customer service of a lady called Jane. High lodge currently have an offer of a free desert with carvery after using 100 clays. We paid for over 100 clays but when it came to paying the bill they were reluctant to take it off the free desert. Although another member of staff agreed with us and happily took it off the bill, Jane was obviously quit upset and almost shouted at us with her outspoken opinions. If you go there try to avoid a dark haired lady called Jane!

Good, solid, typical British Sunday Carvery. Not over generous with meat portion but lots of lovely vegetables, yorkshires, gravy and sauces. Definitely no need to go away hungry. Not much atmosphere in the barn-like modern room though. A bit of colour on the walls or in the lighting would make for a more comfortable and less motorway cafe feel about the place. Plenty of families with young children and elderly all enjoying lunch. Would recommend booking as seems to be getting busier.

Our annual clay busting weekend is always enjoyable at High Lodge. Its is rarely busy, there are a huge variety of targets and disciplines and the high tower at is top reach is really good fun. The grounds are always well kept and cartridges are a reasonable price, as are the clays. team this with a good group of mates, a local hotel and the outcome is a most excellent weekend ! High Lodge is highly recommended !

Went for a shoot at the clay pigeons. Good parking and facilities. I was kitted out with glasses and earplugs (as a novice) for £5. This is a large site, with many stands to practice shooting. I had beginners luck, but after a couple of stands was soundly beaten by young Michael! There is a cafe restaurant on site, and also a golf course.

Had a very pleasant lunch. The meat was melt in the mouth and very tasty. The vegetables were excellent, not your usual looking yellow instead of green mushy veg that you can sometimes get at other places but lovely well cooked and tasty proper food. Lunch came with all the extras you would expect, chipolatas, stuffing, yorkshire pudding etc and delicious gravy. Desserts were very nice too, with ages ranging from three to eighty three in our party we were very happy with the choices. All the tables are in a large function room but are nicely spaced and there was plenty of room to move.

Spotted the signs for this place on a drive out and decided to book for their Sunday carvery the next day. Clubhouse is a nice barn style venue, I could imagine weddings and functions taking place there quite regularly. We went along at 12.45 and it was already quite busy. Staff were very friendly, drinks ordered and brought to the table quickly. Carvery choices excellent as were the accompaniments. Food was delicious and very good value. Desserts and drinks also good prices. If you're in the area it's worth stopping off here.

We were taken to High Lodge for Sunday lunch and what a treat we had. They serve a no-nonsense two course lunch with Carvery and a choice of home made desserts. Beef, Pork and Turkey with all the trimmings were on offer. The meats were all perfectly cooked. The addition of roasted ratatouille and new potato were way above the usual fare. Home made desserts were all good. From a choice of five we chose fabulous chocolate cheesecake, peach flan and meringues with nuts and large tasty raspberries. This all comes with complimentary filter coffee or tea. The function room is spacious with plenty of room between tables. Staff were all pleasant and efficient. It was a very hot day and the large glass doors were open which gave a most welcome breeze. We will definitely be back.

Visited High Lodge Shooting School on 12/06/2015. Went as a family of 5 to celebrate a birthday. Checked in. Staff really pleasant. Were taken to Shooting Range where we were given instructions as to how to use gun to hit targets. The instructor was really helpful, pleasant and had bags of patience. Was really worth the money. We paid £38.75 each for 4 people. After we had coffees in the restaurant. There was also a Golf Club, Archery Club and Coarse Fishing Club. What a great day out. I would definitely recommend this especially if you want to celebrate a Special Day.

We didn't get to eat in the restaurant as the noise from the gun club was deafening. How anyone could enjoy a meal with that noise going on is beyond me. We just turned the car round and drove off.

We had pre booked for a Mother's Day carvery. We arrived ordered some drinks and was shown to our table. Problem was we then found out they had ran out of food! We complained as they had ruined Mother's Day for my mum as it's rare we all manage to get together to do something. We still had to pay for our drinks and the manageress was hopeless, trying to make out it was a learning curb yet we had the same problem at a Xmas do here a couple of years previous. Will never recommend and never go back as u will be bitterly disappointed, and the management don't give a monkeys.

Visited Monday and was really happy with our visit. The food was great, it was nice to see something different, there was a lot of effort put into the menu and lots of options. We ordered two soft drinks, the Mexican flatbread and fishfinger wrap, both of which were excellent and very fresh: I wouldn't be surprised if the tartare sauce was made from scratch. We sat outside with our dog and the views were lovely, toilets were clean and staff polite, I couldn't fault anything really. Will return when next in the area.

I’ve read some of the reviews and it seems that expectations have a lot to do with the comments. I know what to expect and I like it. If you want slick – don’t go. If you want real - then go. If you want a place where people go because they know each other – then go. I’ve had some good conversations about local events and places with the lady and gentleman who run it. Food and drink are fine – it might not suit everyone to see your breakfast cooked in view. Suits me fine.
