Great service and friendly staff. A couple of issues though:- the naan bread was too soft and stodgy and the goan fishcakes lacked flavour. However the monk fish moillee was great, as was the lamb hyderabadi. I have been to this restaurant a few times and had a better experience so I will be back.
Agree with previous reviewer that that there are noticeable cutbacks. Paid over £24 for a chicken pad Thai, beef Penang and crackers to take away. My husband and I literally counted the meat out between us there was so little. Delicious food but expensive for what it was and we sadly felt ripped off as we like to support local businesses and it used to be so good.
This is possibly the most welcoming cafe in Hitchin, which is why we return regularly. The staff are great, the food is lovely (such a selection) and the price is not typical of Hitchin pretentiousness! Highly recommended.

Our first time visiting and it was wonderful! We came for an Easter brunch with the children and the entertainment was great along with the food! Highly recommend and will be returning! Thank you
We had lunch with Watson and Walpole. We had an incredible memorable experience! The meal was absolutely superb, the service impeccable and the timing between courses excellent - not rushed not slow. Great choices on a menu that seems to change with what’s in season. Good wine menu to pair with the super food.
The team both front of house and in the kitchens should be applauded. Great team work. Beautifully presented food and the front of house very knowledgeable about what was on the menu. A very nice ambiance and comfortable and roomy tables.
The disappointment is that we live in the Cotswolds so it will be a while before we will be able to go back!

This is the best Indian we’ve ever been to. We keep coming back probably at least once a month, or we get the takeaway. Never had a bad meal here, the quality is soooo good
Have been to Petals several times in the last few years when staying at a nearby campsite. We were aware that the tea room had recently changed hands and were pleased to see that the afternoon teas were still on the menu, and ordered the savoury Holyhock cream tea, unfortunately it was very disappointing, the scone was small and tasteless and the chilli jam was just a runny cheap supermarket style sauce rather than the lovely jam they used to serve, regrettably we won’t be returning.
