Excellent food and service lots of space to enjoy your food could do with some music in the background but understand that could put prices up i thought prices where very reasonable. Enjoyed it very much thank you.

Visited for lunch today for the first time. Nice relaxed feeling, very good service. I had mushroom ravioli, which was delicious. The sauce was full of flavour and perfectly seasoned, but not too rich. I would definitely come here again

The pasta is generally very good although I feel on the expensive side . I the pizzas are excellent. The risotto - ok . Very good kids menu . Service is good . The service charge is pricey for a local restaurant 12.5% my opinion.

Friendly Staff. Real authentic Italian food. Reminds us of Italy when visiting family. Fresh and tasty. Very very nice. Will be going back often. The coffee is also very nice.

Awful meal ordered starter 4 2 it consisted of 2 prawns 2 calamari cocktail sausages cheese balls all deep fried and scattered chips awful I ordered chicken with sauce awful no real taste just the sauce plonked on top of chicken veg was nice .

We’ve had pizza at Tony’s a few times, both eating in the restaurant and takeaway and have never been disappointed. We went into the restaurant this time on the agreement that we would try pasta dishes, it pained me not to get a pizza but the pasta was SO GOOD. Honestly this place is such a gem, easily one of my favourite restaurants in Essex.

Meal for x4. Plentiful starters of mozzarella and tomatoes, lovely and fresh. Main of chicken masala and vegetables was very tasty, as I'm told was the lasagne. No room for pudding unfortunately. Worth paying the extra. Would go again.

This is a decent place, and I really want to love the spot as it's one of Wickford's limited selection. However It turns out being decently good, but nothing amazing. After 3 visits, I have tried a variety of things with different people - various pizza, calzone, lasagna, etc. Everyone I have visisted with holds a similar opinion on the place. From my recent visit, I had the garlic bread which was a great starter, full of flavour and the perfect size. The butternut squash soup was also OK, maybe a little too sweet for me. I had the mushroom risotto, which had nice mushrooms, and a good amount of butter and parmesan - i enjoyed the dish but it was a little too soupy, and maybe the rice could've absorbed some more of this but overall it is good. This was in a lunch deal, and 2 courses for ~£14 is reasonable. Unfortunately, the pizzas are not remarkable. The salami used on the diavola is fine, the cheese is fine, and the tomato is fine. The dough though doesn't have a great texture, and whilst the flavour is ok it's nothing like some pizzas you can get from other places. Perhaps Tony's could strive for something like neapolitan style, as the steep price tags on some of these pizzas is just not worth it (above £15 in some cases). Whilst the lunch menu is priced well, I feel as if the dinner menu is a bit steep. The lasagna is again, decent but at £17 it's hard to warrant. I really like their oven baked calzone however - the street food options are very reasonably priced and im certain that other options like the arancini would be delicious like the calzone was. The coffee machine was turned off on my recent visit, which was a real shame since that was part of the reason choosing an italian place to eat. But it's ok, I will have to try it again some time. Tony's is good, and with some improvement, it could be GREAT. but for wickford, this is a just a decent eatery for now EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER: The sarcasm in the response is pretty unecessary, let me respond to a few things here: - Your dough is not bad, hence why I enjoyed it for the starter. However, you have to realise that these reviews are a matter of opinion and preference, and in my opinion, it didn't really hit the spot for the pizza. That's all. As a chef you should be able to take that. For your high quality ingredients as well, it's not something that is making a difference clearly. - Risotto - OK, you cook your risotto in a certain way. That's fine, I expressed that I enjoyed it. I just pointed out some things that I think. It is my review after all. - Butternut squash - yeah, of course it's sweet, but as I said, a little too sweet FOR ME. doesn't mean your soup is bad. Chill. - Lasagne - I recognise the time and labour that goes into cooking these foods, and I think it's commendable - once again, I never said it was bad, I actually called it decent and the price thing is simply true. It's hard for everyone to get by with prices right now and £17 is a lot of money for some so it's something to note. It's just an observation. - Coffee machine, ok that's fine. We weren't told about the leaking water, we were literally told it was turned off. Seems to be a miscommunication, which is no problem, just something that disappointed me. I think maybe you should try to approach these things by taking them less personally, i'm not attacking you or your restaurant, i gave a detailed review of my experience and what i think. Sure, i'm not any expert on italian food, almost definitely not as much as you are but there is no reason to hold your pride so high. And another thing to note - your take on Italian food, just because you are presumably Italian, does not mean your food is perfect, and it won't be perfect to everyone. Having visited many Italian restaurants, Italy itself and staying in the company of Italian family and eating their cooking, this is my opinion on your food. It's not a mindless bash on it but rather a balanced and honest way of displaying my experience.

Haven't been in to dine for a long time and I'm glad we did, food of an excellent standard and quality, we dined at 1pm so restaurant quiet so can't say what service is like at busy times but waitress was polite,friendly and not too attentive which I like! I will be back for lunch to try out a pizza,it looked lovely with a thin Italian base so not too filling, the risotto I had was glorious, cooked well with a generous sprinkle of parmesan on top. Well done Tony's keep up the good standards and we will see you soon 👍

Do the people of Wickford realise what a gem Tony's is? The specialities are very good and this is authentic Italian cooking. The home made minestrone is excellent. The home made pasta dishes are marvellous too.

Amazing experience ! We booked for 21 people for a special ocassion… we were then 15 minutes late. The staff were only welcoming, incredibly efficient and very friendly. The food was all perfect and delicious and the service was so quick and made the whole experience wonderful. Thank you all !!!! :)

Very nice pizzas but very boring Italian bread and the worst side salad just iceberg lettuce cucumber and tomato no onion no olives no dressing I’ve had way better in a cafe and some annoying music

We come here quite often for lunch and dinner and it’s always fantastic. Lunch offer is really good value and the pistachio cake is to die for! Always a lovely atmosphere and the staff are always friendly, welcoming and attentive. We are lucky to have such a great restaurant in Wickford ☺️

After reading all the positive reviews my family and I were really looking forward to trying Tony's for the first time. Well what a mistake that was as "the man himself"must have been having the worst day ever, either that or he is just a rude and ignorant human. Our table was booked for 6.30pm on Saturday. We arrived and was told to pick any table as there were only two other tables occupied at the time. We ordered some drinks and our food, our food took an hour to arrive, but we did not moan as was still looking forward to trying it. When it arrived at our table we told the waitress that two of the pizzas should have been without olives, but still being polite, said that we would just pick them off (worried that we would have to wait another hour for them to be made again). After a couple of minutes whilst tucking in to my pizza, I noticed meat on it (should've been a margarita with mushrooms) and being a vegetarian for over 30 years, was very upset by this. When we queried it, Tonys' response was the most shocking. Instead of being appologetic, he huffed a few times then said it's a mistake, basically shrugging his shoulders as though it was our problem/fault. So obviously we left but he still expected us to pay for the drinks all of 1 beer and 2 lemonades. A sincere apology and don't worry about the bill should've been his words. So good luck and pray he's in a good mood if you go.

This place has so much potential and if it was on food alone I’d be rating 5/5. Unfortunately I felt let down tonight. I’ve had a few takeaways here and found the food delicious. Tonight I visited with my family and 6 year old child and the service was very disappointing. I felt we were neglected and being a small establishment and with the food being the good quality it is I was expecting that the customer service would be 5/5. But we felt forgotten and arriving at 5.30pm and ordering our starters and mains at latest 5.50pm but then not eating our mains until nearer 7.30pm just unacceptable, especially having to ask for my child’s meal to at least be cooked sooner so they could eat. We received many apologies but just left feeling disappointed when the food was lovely and of 5/5 quality.

We popped in on the off-chance on a dismal, grey, rainy day - it was great! We were late and in a rush so we opted for quick and simple dishes, this worked out exceptionally well for us. My girlfriend is Italian and she ordered an out-of-the-ordinary coffee and the owner got it spot on! She was impressed (I didn't have a clue 😂) We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back. Many thanks. I only gave 4* for atmosphere as we were at end of service and there weren't many people remaining. Try it, hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

Fantastic food and service. Really good to have such a lovely restaurant so local. Food was faultless. Would of given 5 stars but drinks were a little bit on the expensive side, apart from that 100% recommend.

Have been before and loved the food and service. Went yesterday and was shocked how bad it was now. We ordered our drinks fairly quickly and they arrived OK. After 30 minutes they then came and took our food order. 1 and a half hours later the food arrived, when we said we had been waiting 2 hours for food, we got told (very rudely) it was only an hour and a half, forgetting they had taken another 30 minutes to take our order. We had ordered extra drinks and these took age's to arrive and we had to keep asking for them from different people as they did not arrive or bits missing. They said they are short staffed, then my answer is have less people in the restaurant, instead of ruining our night for your own profit. Paid the bill, but no tip, as it was very poor customer experience.

Our first time at Tony’s after walking past the other day and saying we should give it a try. We got two pizzas to takeaway and they were SO good. You could tell it was real good quality ingredients - tasted like something you would get in Italy. Staff were really friendly. We can’t wait to have a date night here so we can try some of the amazing looking pasta dishes.

Enjoyed a takeaway pizza tonight with French fries. The pizzas were delicious, we both thoroughly enjoyed and will return.

What a relief to find a restaurant that wasn't taking advantage of Valentines day £75 each at Vita Bella and Magic Mushroom. Our first visit really impressed by the quality of our food fresh hot and tastful and not a special menu because of Valentines.

24 of us went for my 70th birthday last night and what an excellent experience! Everyone without exception commented on how fantastic their meal was. A variety of food was ordered - my seafood risotto was tasty and they didn’t skimp on the seafood either - my sister said it was the best pizza she’d ever had - every meal served was great - not always easy with such a large party. The staff worked so hard to ensure we had everything we needed and were friendly and helpful throughout. Lovely comfy seats too and a great atmosphere. Can definitely recommend this restaurant!

The food was nice but took almost 2 hours for 2 pizzas (estimated at 40 mins when ordered)... It wouldn't have taken much longer to fly in a pizza from Rome! I did wonder whether the restaurant would throw in a free drink etc as an apology but nothing. Wouldn't rush back.

Pizza quality is exceptional, I love a pizza from anywhere but when you want a proper authentic pizza order from Tony’s! Toppings you won’t find elsewhere, starts and desserts are also very tasty. I’ve never eaten it but have ordered it a fair few times. Only slight disappointment is I’ve always waited incredibly long wait times, like an hour plus which would be fine if online it didn’t say 40 minutes etc but won’t stop me ordering!

Was totally blown away by the fresh flavours. The best takeaway we have had in a long time. 1st time we tried Tony's and highly recommend!.

Tony’s is a hidden gem in Essex, and a privilege to have in Wickford. Run by an Italian family, the food on offer is exactly like eating in a restaurant in Italy! The pizzas are perfect and the rest of the menu has expanded with a huge amount of options, both for main meals and lunch. We’ve visited many, many times since Tony opened and have never, ever been let down. Always attentive with a good eye for detail, all our good courses have always been excellent. The lasagne and panna cotta are particularly great. There are nice drinks to back the food up, with a wine choice, draught Moretti and Peroni, and a great cocktail list (the bramble is particularly excellent). An absolutely great place to visit and very reasonably priced, it’s something to always look forward to.

I am always looking for something outside of the mainstream franchises, and when you find a good one it is worth talking about. We had lunch early in the week and it was nice and quiet, the way we like it so the youngster can be himself as a 2 year old does. The restaurant is very clean, the décor and furniture are all comfy and sets a nice atmosphere. All important things for us. There is a lunchtime menu but we generally enjoy going off the main menu. My wife and i shared a 12inch pizza and cheesy garlic bread which is more than enough for lunch. Very happy with the flavours and tasted very fresh. We are very fussy with desserts, it has to be better than something frozen from a retailer, and OMG we were not disappointed. We had the Cannolo, i would travel a long way to have something this yummy, struggled to share it with my wife, next time I will be having one to myself. Highly recommend this place, we will be visiting again.

Very good Italian restaurant in Wickford High Street. Excellent home cooked food. Delicious tiramasu. Very good red house wine. Have eaten there 4 or 5 times and look forward to visiting again.

Went there on Mothers Day evening, they were very busy. We had good quick service. My food was very nice, my Husbands was very nice but the vegetables not very hot, maybe because they were so busy. Will go there again at not such a busy time.

Well booked table for 4 online left message to say one of us is wheat intolerant and gluten intolerant. We arrived and greeted to the table when the lady came and handed out menu's I said one of us is gluten and wheat intolerant she said oh we don't cater for that as there isn't many people amd too much for us to do . Sorry I did put this on the message when I booked so why wasn't I informed az I would book somewhere elsewhere . Sorry but this really usual most resuratuant do cater for the people with allergy won't be going back
