Muffin Break in Basildon

This cafe is lovely and also serves Red Velvet cake, my favorite. Nice atmosphere and enough space, just perfect for a little break between shopping.

I have to say I had the most wonderful experience with not only the staff, but with the food. I would like to say a big thank you to Holly (my server), who not only made me a divine chai latte, but also made me feel welcomed.

Wait no food asked fir a bagel didn't have any but it can be made ok. Order placed for me and hubby. Daughter next to order. Here's arrives with 5 mins wow better than our first visit. Then 5 mins later hubby's comes up and my tea. No bagel Went to counter "oh its not done no bagels" we are doing it though. They went shopping in asda.. By the time it arrived both hubby and daughter had finished so I wrapped mine to take home I wanted to give them a second chance as my first visit was just after lockdown and it was so slow and order was wrong but I am never coming back

Great place for a coffee and baguel-been going here for years.Great service-the food is always tastes fresh.Just moved to southend so will have to try out the branch there.

The staff is friendly, helpful, and has a positive vibe. The coffee tasted good, and the lady even made art on it. The place feels warm, with local customers. I felt safe and had a good time.

It's nicely set out and more appealing than the supermarket café, but is more expensive than other places nearby. A quiet place for a coffee with a friend.

Professional slightly pricy and was seriously very filling, not really my cup of tea

Ordered a toastie and was asked if I wanted it toasted.. Asked if I wanted to eat in- they charge an extra £1 for this I was told.. so would have made toastie £5.30. Got back to work to find they hadn’t cut the toastie.. Didn’t taste great, cheap ingredients.

Very nice atmosphere and community feel, staff are very nice and tentertive, highly recommend this place, better than Starbucks. Eastgate needs places such as these.

Lovely atmosphere! Forgot i was in basildon for a while 🤣. This was the best mocha ive ever had! EVER! And i have had a few!! Nice and clean also. Great service!

I popped in for a cold drink,I found the tltian lime.very thirst quenching.

Love the pistachios buns....my first time and it was yummy. It was so moist and sweet. Had to return the next day.

We always order off them and today got a free muffin very nice of them :)

Very friendly staff, and very delicious muffins and food, I tried their new range of muffins, the lemon sugar one which had gooey lemon curd on the inside and my brother tried the cookie dough muffin they were both very good

There has been the very rare occasion where they are training new staff or have a new menu, which means service can be a bit slower than usual...but this is to be expected. Its my go to place for a coffee and cake in the town. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere, even when its busy. The place is always clean and staff are constantly coming out to clean up empty cups and trays.

Gave 5 stars based on 3 visits. I very impressed with staff, very polite and efficient. I've been welcomed every visit with a hello and a smile. The place is very clean, I noticed they clean tables every time customer leaves . This is 👍 as means as a customer we are not finding tables that have plates and cups! The muffins are yummy and fresh and drinks are nice. Thanks for service! I appreciate good manners

Staff refused to sit in shop, when there were still 45 minutes left to close the shop.and they were rude.

Lovely cafe which isn't one of the big chains. It's quite big with a good selection of things to choose. My family are very fussy but they love it here. If you want a change from the common chain outlets give this place a go and support them. I'm sure you'll be surprised.

It's was all not to busy at anytime to get an meal with others housemates.

We had a coffee and a hot chocolate,, my partner said the hot chocolate was very strong and had to ask for more milk. Good selection of snack food available.

My daughter wanted to treat me to lunch we was sitting down as people was ordering & sitting with there food so I kept going up & they kept saying its on its way & when it come out 40 minutes later my daughter had to wait for hers another 20mins & the food was disgusting we tried to complain but they were so busy the young man just walked of so I will tell my family & friends that will never entertain this place again. Very poor staff service

Pretty average the muffins were certainly not particularly fresh ie. quite dried out and several forgot to bring over part of the order Quite pricey for what we got ..

Never will I entertain this place again absolutely disgusting food & had to wait 40 minutes for mine & my daughter had to wait 20mins after me & it was a special occasion for my birthday but it didn't turn out to be? I tried telling the young man that works there but he was not interested. So they will never get our custom & my family & friends.defently need to improve staff manners as very poor & waiting time needs to improve...

I both a vegan muffin and it was about £2.75. It was tasty. They had two different types. I was so amazed, as I have issues with lactose. I already have a card. Muffin was filling for my dessert 🍨

Love this place! Always grab a coffee and a bagel when walking past, and maybe their muffins - the Mars bar one is to die for! The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

I love the taste of the coffee beans they use in this cafe. I had a chicken wrap which was tasty. Every cafe is getting expensive to eat in, so when the the food and drinks are tasty, and the service good you feel at least that the expense/treat is worth it.

Very pleased with my chai latte and apple & cinnamon muffin. The quality here is miles better than your average Starbucks or Costa, and there's a wide range of sweet treats to choose from, just beware of calories! The ambience is very warm and welcoming.

We always visit here on Saturdays for our breakfast we love the service and atmosphere and one of the managers always recognise us today he asked if we wanted to try the goat cheese and beetroot sandwich cooked and I must say it was simply delicious we shall come here every Saturday without fail the food is superb

Was quite disappointed, I drove 40mins to try this place, to turn up around 11am and it was empty which had me curious I then ordered two breakfasts to have to wait one hour, to be told the chef is new? I mean I can cook a breakfast myself in 10/15 I can get one delivered from other cafes in 30mins max of 45 this place couldn’t bring one out of kitchen in less that a hour to me that’s very very poor. Nice location but Shame about time, then I thought the food would be worth the wait for it to come very cold far from impressed

The Bast cafe and restaurant with lots of delicious muffins and cakes in town.

They are trying too hard to be a place for hipsters etc. They try to be really fancy and it falls flat. The muffins are beyond sickly and I once ordered a tika pannini and they put cucumber in it without any warning, and immensely overpriced, stick to esquires

Staff look lost, don't communicate much and seems that you are asking for more when ask to warm the panini.

Do not order off Uber eats.sat and waited half hour for my ordered just for muffin break to cancel it with no explanation or phone call. Terrible service and will not be ordering again.

This place has gone down since been taken over by new management. They have nice fresh cakes on display then serve you the older cake that looks a few days old.

As we normally do we stopped to have breakfast before shopping and must say the service gets better each week the friendly staff and attentive service the customers receive has improved since the new management took over the service is quicker and hardly any wait even with a full restaurant the manager even double checked if I’m allowed to get discount as I work next to restaurant he even offered double discount on next visit we will continue to get our breakfasts here

Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel... Bagel was stale or poor quality Smoked salmon is minced up!! Only time I have seen it like this is the off cuts, that are sold cheaper. So if you like stale Bagels with minced Smoked salmon in then this is the place yo get them!! The tea was nice. Also bought a Blueberry muffin but have not tried that... just hope it's OK.

My colleague and I ordered breakfast through Uber Eats of a scone, butter and jam and a coffee at the cost of £15. The order was delivered and we received cold coffee and croissants. We tried to call Muffin Break 8-10 times and there was no answer. We will not be going again AVOID these time wasters!

Breakfast. Yeah, we had a nice breakfast before shopping for food. The plave is in good location, its clean and staff is friendly. The best is there is offer to get free 6th coffe and you get one when register with them. Oh yeah and coffee is actually good, will come again.

I was happy to see they do things for people who got allergies to wheat and so on. Entrance to muffin break was clean and tidy. Seating area was clean. Indian man who served me was clean and tidy and polite. Would come back.

We have regularly used this restaurant Saturday mornings before we do our shopping last week we went in to have our breakfast meal and found new people running this and had added pancakes and had the flavours advertised my wife asked the chap behind counter for pancakes first of all he didn’t know they were selling pancakes till she pointed out the big sign he then asked her what flavour we wanted she said what flavoured are you doing again he seemed senseless about this after a lot of asking questions we had what we wanted when it came to our table there were no cutlery or the pancakes didn’t have everything that was on picture again the man who we think was manger seemed senseless about food he sells all the messing about made our meal not very happy TODAY we again went in to have something different it seems they might have sorted things out as it didn’t take so long to order food and have it delivered to table but no serviettes was brought with the food or cutlery so we had to get our own but enjoyed meat bacon and avocado was very tasty so they need to keep getting their act together to be as good as previous owners

Slow service since this place was taken over. Stapled a bag with a muffin in which is a hazard, staff arguing when customers around. Also calling a friend of mine a liar when she asked for a large drink and was served a medium. We used to come here alot and now are going elsewhere due to awful service.

Muffin Break is our favourite coffee shop at Eastgate

Ordered a caramel coffee instead was delivered a bacon and egg roll delivery driver seemed apologetic and said they would return to restaurant collect my coffee and return I waited over 30mins nobody returned so I had to order from Starbucks instead in future this is what I will do as this isn't the first occaision they have messed up an order and made no effort to amend. When you call the restaurant you are greated by there "full" inbox which doesn't allow you to leave any messages. I feel for the people who's order I was delivered as I tried to get the driver to take it back so it could be taken to the right people the driver refused only blaming the restaurant for the mistake with the orders. What a disgusting way to treat paying customers no coffee for me n no egg n bacon roll for another customer.

Good but very slow. Waited nearly 15 minutes for 2 milkshakes.
