The restaurant was empty, but the bar staff said the restaurant was busy. We ate in another restaurant and passed by. The restaurant was empty, only a few people were sitting.

Went with family. Food was great - I had the meatballs and spaghetti and a cheesecake desert - and it was a great atmosphere which allowed us to have a proper catch up. Good value for money and the service was very good, with the waiter seeing to us in a professional and friendly manner.

My family and I go here a lot and the food has always been good with excellent service.

We have been at Bella Italia at the end of February and ordered a starter and a pizza, and kids menu. We opted for them instead of Pizza Hut because we wanted some signature dishes. All I can say is that their signature is not executed as planned. The atmosphere was alright, tables sticky, but clean. The alcohol served in £2 glasses from ASDA, the drinks are dissolved with water, we ordered aperol. The kids menu starter and pizza were bad, dry and tasteless, good chips. Our starter was bad, tasteless and uncooked. The pizza looked like some child prepared it, as it was Uncooked, we could barely eat half of it and gave up. I believe the place can be better, but will not come again and will not recommend it.

We really enjoyed eating out at Bella Italia Basildon. The waiter serving us was really friendly and we got our food really quick. We both really enjoyed the food as well. Would definitely recommend!

Never been to a bella italia before but it was a pleasant visit. We went for the £5 pasta deal which was incredible and saved us a lot of money. Our server was wonderful however due to being understaffed service was relatively slow. I tried the gamberoni pasta, was absolutely delicious!! And the tiramisu too is great.

First visit to this chain of Italian eateiries and mixed feelings. Positive points: fast and efficient service when needing a quick bite before moving on elsewhere. Very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely Via Roma draught beer.Quite busy late Saturday evening when visited and very impressed with speed of service. Not so positive: main course I ordered - smoky carbonara pizza was quite bland....was expecting something more tasty tbh... didn't order any other food due to time constraints but prepared to give it another visit to evaluate once more.

Went before seeing a film and service was friendly enough if a bit by the script (asked three times if we had allergies). Food however was very disappointing especially at the price.

Food was alright, came out fairly quickly but the waiter who served us was brilliant. Polite, friendly, quick with drinks and overall a lovely man.

Our first visit was staying for the weekend with family. Quite busy when arrived, big groups, families and couples. Lucky to get a table. The staff was attentive and very polite. Ordered food, Marco Polo & Pizza and tea for 2. I was surprised that food came within 20 minutes, seeing the amount of tables. Good was on point, fresh, flavourful and ££ price too. I definitely recommend it to friends ***** stars!

Food / some of the courses were poor to average. Even when dining in a Italian chain restaurant I do not expect to be served ‘smooth’ shell, frozen meatballs only half smothered in what is an decent sauce to disguise them, we’re they even real meat? I do not recall these being as bad in other Bella Italia restaurants. Feels like this restaurant or the business of late are sourcing ingredients from lesser suppliers in a bid to increase profits. Why did they drop their wonderful crab ball starter off the menu? Olives served without any cocktail sticks when raised we were told that the entire restaurant, it has what is supposed to be a functioning bar, does not have any in. My Light ‘N’ Stormy cocktail was fine but had two wedges of browned limes in, seriously- how long does it take for citrus to spoil like that then - if they are then don’t put them in someone’s cocktail. The tiramisu martini we sent back and we’re told that they didn’t have the correct ingredients, clearly tried to make it up with watery ingredients. Hardly surprising going by the three tiramisu’s that we were served for our final courses they had no idea what one was supposed to be like (see earlier review by another customer, they weren’t wrong!) - the worse tiramisu we’ve had since being served a plate of chocolate-dusted shaving foam in a Miller & Carter (Lakeside, before it sank). Main courses were fine, the chicken Milanese very tasty as always. Porchetta pasta Christmas special was OK. The Basildon Bella Italia served up the polar opposite, just as terrible, sent two of them back and requested one be taken off the bill. Dry and barely any mascarpone to be seen. Really unfair on the staff as they were fine but unable to offer the best service.

The food was good, but the service today was very slow, much better service on busier days. It is a real shame because we've always had good food and good service! *UPDATE* 24/11/23 First time back since last review, food was good and staff were lovely. Would recommend 👌

We had a table booked for 4 of us to celebrate our son's 3rd birthday. Service was attentive, polite, not in your face :) throughout our lunch. The food was nice for all - adults and children. Would've been nice if there were more customers in the restaurant for a bit of atmosphere but saying that we had a great time (considering we were with kids ages 3 and 4:))!

This was the worst meal I've ever had in a bella Italia the waitress noticed I'd left it and there was no charge...left hungry 😒

Ordered a pizza that took ages to arrive, and when it did, it looked like it was reheated in the microwave. The service was terribly slow, and the food was bad. After deciding to leave with the food unfinished and have dinner elsewhere, I was asked to leave a tip.

Just had lunch here as an early Mothers Day treat. We were seated quickly. Restaurant was clean and our server Leanne was very helpful. Our drinks order was taken and received shortly afterwards, same with our food order. All the food tasted amazing, absolutely delicious! We will definitely come back here again in the future!

First time I've ever been here. Was quite impressed. Food was nice. I had a burger and brownie with ice cream for dessert. Couldn't fault neither. Service was nice and friendly. Not many people inside. Hence the 3 stars. Would and will be returning.

My family and I enjoyed lunch here at the weekend and the food was great......but not as great as Max our waiter! He was friendly, attentive, helpful and polite! The restaurant got increasingly busy throughout our visit but the service continued to be spot on!

Okish....food a bit bland...as has everything price's have gone up ....spent 80plus pound ..table was sticky and still had the last customers salt and pepper spillages...staff friendly...missed an addition to the starter.. took.over 20 minutes to get our bill which we were asked twice if we wanted our bill ....emmm wouldn't rush back.....

Max was our server and he did an excellent job. He was very polite and attentive. A great meal out to celebrate results day. Food was prompt and hot and our order was spot on.

Starter was delivered cold , however just like the mains , was edible. Both courses were nice enough but didn't grip my taste buds and make me want to go back again. Waitress we had was lovely , giggly and very short but made the experience nice for us :)

£53 for two people was way too expensive for the food quality they offer. Bland food, the casseroles from the fridges in supermarkets taste better. Didn't even finish mine, ate less than half. That is not italian food, not even close. The service is poor thus why no tip was left. Ordered a pint of Stella and i can definitely say that it is mixed with water. I'm a Stella drinker for years, i know how it should taste. The glass of coke was the same, 3 parts water plus the ice 🤣 it's a joke of a "restaurant", was my first time in one, never going back, would rather eat mcdonalds

As a family, kids always love going here. But today just felt like prices up, quality down as food was just bland and poor. In addition the customer service was just awful. Really disappointing.

The 2 waiters that served us were friendly and pleasant. Although they were clearly busy and under pressure, they remained polite, positive and calm. The manager was very enthusiastic and welcoming. Our visit was really positive

I cannot fault the service we were given or the speed it was given with, likely mindful that most diners were probably heading to the cinema afterwards. The staff here were so friendly and organised. So it's not fair on them that it's the food that lets this place down. While we were not kept waiting to order or receive our food, it wasn't the best I've had. I was by no means expecting hand-rolled-on-site pizzas - which these clearly are not - but far too much semolina in the dough and too long in the oven are not things you want to be saying about your meal. Like a lot of restaurants in the middle of the day in Basildon, it was fairly quiet. The restaurant was clean and generally nice to sit in. What did soften things a bit was the 25% off that Cineworld card holders get. With that, I considered a gap in my stomach filled. Without it, I'd have been less pleased. Go for the service - if you're in a hurry before a film.

We arrived at around 3pm but were made very welcome and service was excellent. I enjoyed the lasagne but felt it was no more special than a ready meal.

I was craving pasta and tried to look for a local that was open, and nothing was open on a Sunday (weird) So, I ended up here and was actually surprised I had the Calamari, Bruschetta, and Rigatoni main with pork ragu with Nduja and was really good. I just needed a touch if seasoning personal preference

Food was disgusting and didn't taste like Italian at all, came really late, starter came after main . And for the price (over 50 pounds for 2 kids menu and 2 pizza). It felt like a one star place or even less. Really DO NOT recommend. First and last time!

Expensive for what it is! Chicken was dry and rubbery the croutons were like boulders and extra hard was meant to be a Birthday meal but wish I had saved my money and gone to MCDONALD'S instead

Turned up and got a table, app for ordering food was terrible and no WiFi signal, staff seemed pre occupied with each other and seemed unprofessional but, food was lovely.

We came last Friday and server Bojana was absolutely amazing, she even suggested what to eat and drink and was so delicious. Lovely restaurant to dine in.

ordered on the app , drinks came quickly. payed for a vegan pepperoni pizza and fries with a gamberoni. when it arrived the pizza wasn’t vegan and they then informed us they didnt have the vegan alternative and didnt brint out the fries. Gameroni was tasteless.

Always our go to Italian eatery Never been disappointed and the choice of dishes are delightful Staff has always been super friendly and they take care of everyone so well It's so well loved by so many that getting a walk in table fan be hit and miss, so be sure to book in advance if you are able

I ordered the ceaser salad and I was taking up quite a lot of brown lettuce leaves off my bowl, plus I had bruschetta to start with and it was hard to get my knife through it let alone chew on it. Husband was unimpressed with his carbonara and said it was dry and we won't be going there again. I don't like giving these sorts of reviews, hope they improve.

I'm in the area on business and this had become one of my favourite places to dine, been here 5 times now, yet my opinion has changed due to my last 2 visits. This place ain't to bad if you order the right food, but it ain't all about the food, how staff manage there customers and there own in-house mistakes says alot about management, frankly the management is rubbish because its reflected in the rest of the team and how they approach issues, so there customers walk out happy. Twice now I have ordered food and what's turned up is not what it should be, one main meal was missing important fillings as part of the dish, yet no-one informed us these ingredients were missing! No apology or discount offered, still charged full price but didn't recieve the full meal! Cheeky. Tonight's meal was such a boring and bland dish and totally over priced for what was on the plate, so I thought I'd order a dessert to cheer myself up and they brought out what should have been a mouse, that was frozen solid, when approaching the member of staff about it, she was so dismissive and acted like it was normal and completely fine - she knew it was frozen and still brought it out to many anyway. Once again showing no descent communication or people skills, just "do you want to order anything else". Staff should no what's happening in the kitchen and if you make a mistake then own it Bella Italian. Up your game, lots of nicer restaurants to go too and I won't be back. Shame! You only got the 2nd star due to my 1st 3 experiences but sadly you showed your true colours on my last 2 visits.

Passing through after my son's football match on Sunday, we decided to go for lunch. When our son was little he loved going to this restaurant and hadn't been in a very long time so Bella Italia was the one. Food was good, but the issue I had was that my burger was a little cold inside. Most of all the service we received was fantastic. I think her name was Leighanne I think is correct from the recipe. She had short hair with glasses. She was so lovely, kind and really welcoming. I thought she was a little under pressure as there weren't many stuff around. Keep up the great service guys Hopefully will come back soon

The food was delicious....we had 3 courses and were able to use my Taste Card which was great. Service was a little slow.....the waitress was lovely but she seemed to be running a one woman show so was a bit stretched at times. Macaroni cheese, burger, pizzza and carbonara were all delicious. Brownie was lovely, cookie dough was a bit bland. Bruscetta and dough balls were yummy. It was a Sunday afternoon and pretty quiet. Staff were polite.
