Just to mention to anyone looking to book this first rate restaurant there is presently a closed for refurbishment sign with no other details as to a reopening date. Hope its not too long as its always well worth a visit.

Visited sunday and service was not good, the waiter was not attentive and very rude

This is not Italian food, frankly horrible and rude service. Italian food was made by La Toscana but this is frankly offensive and the management was very rude when we raised issues with being served a tasteless plate of food. Not Italian by any stretch of the imagination

Not sure if these people leaving bad reviews have mistaken this restaurant for somewhere else, I love this place and the staff are wonderful! The food is simply, incredible. You can pick ANYTHING from the menu here, and you won't regret it. The hardest part of visiting each time is deciding which one of my favourite dishes I have to choose over another!

We booked on Christmas Eve on the off chance, we had never been before. We had a lovely meal and the staff were very helpful. I would recommend to friends and we will go back.

Tonight I visited Amico for a Christmas Dinner for Billericay Round Table amd Billericay 41 club. There were 51 of us in total and the restaurant and staff could not have been more helpful. We did pre book this. The food was amazing and served in good time. The staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Can not fault the service. Would highly recommend.

Ate here recently and need to recommend it. Food was great. All came out freshly cooked with very attentive service. The outside of this building needs to look more inviting it’s such a shame.

We ate in Amico on a Saturday night. The food is always of a high standard and very reasonably priced. Recommended seafood ravioli and rack of lamb. Wine is also good value. Only criticism is lighting could be more subdued as bright lighting does not create best atmosphere. Staff are friendly and will respond to requests. Cannot understand why it is not busier. Will definitely be back.

We eat nearly every Tuesday before Quiz night in The Chequers. Nice people, always good food and always helpful. Nothing more to add other than saying "keep on doing what you do well " Decor a little dated but that has no impact on my experinance I only review a very good experiences which is very rare, if I'm not happy I deal with at the time so all you keyboard warriors grow some B---s so if a problem let the establishment try & resolve on the day.! You may be happy then to leave positve feedback😊

Had eaten here several times and have always been happy with food and attentive service. So we arranged a private Anniversary Lunch for 40 people at the restaurant. Everything went perfectly, table arrangements, menu choices, food, drinks and excellent service for a large group. Very complimentary feedback from all our guests. What a disappointing lunch experience. Food was disgusting. Asked for Bruschetta for Starters NOT one slice of cheese on toast with one cherry Tomato cut in half @ £4.50!!!! Mains Spag Bol & Penne Pasta with mushrooms & parmesan.. Portion were on the small size The penne was so spicy it was inedible & Spag bol went straight through Hubby. Only recommendation here is cross the Road. 1/10 manager needs to learn new management skills appalling.

Hadn’t been here before even though local, just never heard anybody talk about it . WHY !!??! The service was attentive, respectful but not intrusive. The rack of lamb was GORGEOUS..pink and tender. The Croauembouche dessert was homemade, freshly cooked and to die for… hot choux pastry ball with hot custard inside and a lemon sauce… heavenly. And on a Saturday night there were only two tables in use!! For some reason this place ain’t getting supported. They deserve so much more support from you locals. Please try it. You won’t be disappointed. PS. whoever left a 2 star review after paying £9.50 for a two course lunch should be ashamed. Really?!

We were meeting friends for a birthday celebration lunch. None of us had been there before but it was a convenient place to meet. On entering the decor is pleasant and it is spacious and airy. We had a large fan next to our table which kept us cool, if a little wind blown The menu is Italian as the name would suggest, sadly I don’t think any of the staff had been to Italy or eaten Italian food. We ordered from the very reasonable 2 course lunch menu - £9.50. The food varied dramatically, my sister ordered Bruschetta Pomodoro with home baked bread, tomatoes and pesto. There were certainly a lot of small plum tomatoes but the bread had been over toasted so it was inedible, there was no pesto dressing and it lacked any flavour. One of our party had the goats cheese which she said was nice. Our mains for various reasons were disappointing, portion sizes varied dramatically and some food was served almost cold. I had the chicken Caesar salad. It was nice and refreshing, although, served with a generous amount of avocado. it was a shame the croutons were not home made, especially as they claimed to have fresh baked bread and the Caesar dressing was unusual to say the least and I can confidently say it had never seen an anchovy. It was very white and gloopy. There were extremely long waits between ordering and then the two courses. The waiter was lovely and polite but never returned to the table to check if drinks needed refilling, he also kindly bought out a birthday cake (which we had supplied) and sang happy birthday. I feel the manager needs to change his menu to food he understands and is knowledgeable about and they could succeed but if they stay as they are then I feel they are doomed to close.

Hidden gem. Never busy but given the quality and value on offer it deserves to be. Set menu options are particularly good.

My boyfriend and I went for lunch this afternoon and we were very disappointed in the food and service. My boyfriend ordered seabass, which looked very small and the potatoes were old. We complained about the potatoes and obviously the waiter said he was sorry but he didn't offer us anything instead. When he brought us the bill, he charged us for everything, even the disgusting old fries...it's a shame because we were there last week and we could have been regulars, but after lunch today we won't be back. So next week, if they're lucky, they'll have one table instead of two. Shame on you Amico, be less greedy and serve your customers better food.

I decided to grab a takeaway on my lunch break today. I chose a pizza as it was the quickest meal. I was really happy with how nice it was and the price was reasonable. Thank you!

Visited Amico last week with my husband and had a lovely meal. Warm and welcoming as always. Steaks cooked to perfection and the best Panna cotta! The wine was great and they have a good selection. Will always come back, hands down the best restaurant in Billericay!

Five of us walked in to at lunchtime to find the restaurant completely empty. As we have experienced this on previous occasions dining in what was then Lo Monaco we were curious to see if the eating, service and value was up to the same high standard. Absolutely perfect from beginning to end but perhaps not surprising as we remained the only customers in the restaurant before their 3oclock closing. Such a pity but if you want a friendly welcome, attractive surroundings, superb food and service second to none then this place wins by a country mile. Just hope they can weather the low customer storm as we will be visiting the Amico again at the earliest opportunity.

My husband and I found this gem six months ago and often visit on Friday evenings whilst our son is at a club. The restaurant doesn’t look much from outside but it’s just perfect. It’s clean, the staff are so welcoming and the food is delicious. We tried a different Italian a few hundred yards away one evening but it was such a disappointment. I’d recommend this lovely place to anyone

Although not a lot of atmosphere Amico serves great food at good prices. The staff are always pleasant, helpful and very accommodating. They do a great selection for a 2 course lunch for only £9.50! The wine/drinks prices are very good too. As it’s not a particularly noisy place it’s a great place for a chat.

I recommend this restaurant. Lovely food, cooked well, delightful service. Good value. too. Give it a try. As it is small I think people tend to go to larger restaurants.

We booked for a group of 9 for a lunch just before Christmas. The menu was very good and they did an excellent 1 , 2 or 3 course set lunch with several choices for each as well as the normal menu. This was extremely good value and everyone said how much they enjoyed the food and the choice. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and as one of our number was unable to come due to illness, asked us if we would like to move to the round table in the window which catered for 8 and would make it easier for us to chat to each other than a long table. Will definitely return.

Your prosciutto calzon has no prosciutto in it and cooked Ham is not the same thing. The mozzarella cheese is also not proper mozzarella. The calzon was flat and did not have much flavour. If you can't use the correct ingredients at least rename it so it is not misleading. I'm sorry to say, This is not Italian food.

Very bad meal, there was soil in my salad service was poor and the food not much better, got 1/3 off the price but wont go back. Shocking

Terrible food steak tasted like lamb Shish, apart from that was alright but was silent no music nothing felt like I couldent talk terrible, don’t reccomend

We originally planned to visit Amico on Thursday 23 Sept to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. But as she wasn't feeling up to going out we decided to order a takeaway from the restaurant instead. There were 9 of us and i have to say the food was superb. It arrived in good time and was hot. I had the pasta ravioli while my wife had seafood pasta and we agreed it was the best pasta we've had in a long time. . Will definitely book a table at Amicos next time we are in Billericay

If you like true proper italian food this is the place for you. Never had such a great pizza in Essex. Well cooked , dough is brilliant, pasta is good and tasyyyy, and delivery couldn't be more effective and efficient!!! Thank you

First time visit for us and we were so impressed with the variety in the menu and the quality of the food. The rack of lamb was superb and so generous a portion. They cater easily for gluten free also. We will definitely return.

Had a fabulous takeaway from this lovely restaurant during the latest lockdown. Generous portions, perfectly cooked (great chips!). They delivered it very promptly too with no delivery charge. Have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past, and the quality of food has always been excellent. Can thoroughly recommend them.

Great food, fantastic service and brilliant value for money. Hopefully after tier 2 restrictions are lifted,the place will fill up again. Definitely worth a visit - we will be back!

Had a very bad experience here. The male waiter was extremely rude, we believe he could have been the owner but aren’t able to confirm. After asking for penne instead of spaghetti he got extremely funny with us. Had some of our starters come out...
