The best restaurants serving British food in Tendring East of England

This has surely got to be one of the best restaurants around here. The service was impeccable, the hosts are very welcoming. The star of the show however was the food. Every course was delicious, some of the best food we have eaten. So happy to have found it. We will definitely return.

Another fantastic meal at The Creek. Excellent service and superb food. Desserts to die for and gorgeous local G&T. Caroline and her team are so welcoming.

Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Very warm welcome and friendly service. The roast dinner was excellent and the desserts were delicious. Good beer too. We are very lucky to have The Rosebud so close to home.

We've been coming here for many years when ever we visit Clacton. What a great find. We usually visit before going to a show at the also excellent West Cliff theatre. The fish is always top quality and cooked to perfection along with crispy chips with fluffy centers. All enhanced by a bottle of white wine served in an ice bucket. The restaurant has recently been beautifully refurbished and is spotless including the toilet. Staff charming and it's nice to be recognised and have a little chat. What's not to like! Lovely food as always, staff so warm and friendly. Had the homemade Lemon Meringue Cheesecake. It was to die for. I could have ate the whole thing. Will be requesting it again Julie Edwards-Shaw

We visited this cafe/restaurant whilst visiting family in clacton. They use this lace a lot and we took them there for breakfast as they recommended it. We got a table straight away. We got the menus quickly, we ordered drinks and then our food. The waiting staff were all so friendly and polite. The food we had was very good, fresh and very hot. It was a good price for us all to have breakfast and drinks.

Once again, Whites never fails to hit the right spot! Yes, you may have to queue - food is prepared fresh, not like fast food places. I've never found the staff rude! There is always a good atmosphere, the place is spotlessly clean, the portions are good sizes, the liquor is gorgeous and there is chilli vinegar! You could even get Apple pie and ice cream for pudding. For gravy lovers, there is gravy. But you can't beat liquor!

We went on a 50% offer, however at full price it would still be very reasonable. Freshly cooked, staff very friendly and attentive. Lovely clean and inviting establishment. Overall great experience and would recommend to others as well as revisiting. Vegan options too (vegan battered sausages were a winner for me)

The Yachtsman provides good quality food at a reasonable price. Service is good and the menu varied. They have a restaurant area, bar area or outside space available. Close to the waterfront and Brightlingsea ferry. There are 2 places I like to eat in Brightlingsea and this is one of them.

We were here for lunch with an aunt who lives in Dovercourt. She came here at Christmas with friends and recommended it. Although it was off season, we booked a table as it’s a small pub. The food was good, with very generous portions. We can recommend the ham egg and chips and the salmon and broccoli fishcakes - but bring an appetite. The staff were friendly. Parking is limited and their car park is round the back.

Absolutely delighted to see dukes back up and running with fab decor ,great menu and lovely staff ,totally worth a visit. Was extremely busy so glad we had booked.

This was my first visit to the Rainbow Cafe. Our walking group of 11 walked along the prom both ways and returned for our pre ordered lunch. Our meals were served very efficiently, the meals were nice and hot, I chose a steak and ale pie, new potatoes, and an individual dish of fresh vegetables. I managed to squeeze a Baileys Roulade in for my dessert, it was absolutely delicious. The cafe is bright and clean, and the sun was shining in today. The waitresses were very busy, the cafe was full and the never stopped working. They were very pleasant and were polite and couldn't do enough for us. Went with my daughter, haven't been here in years. Lovely location. Wonderful friendly staff. Excellent range of food, will go again.

Popped in for breakfast , whilst in Walton doing beach hut maintenance . Had a lovely breakfast , served quickly and good size portions.Will visit again next time I am in town.
