Davies in Tendring

We visited this cafe/restaurant whilst visiting family in clacton. They use this lace a lot and we took them there for breakfast as they recommended it. We got a table straight away. We got the menus quickly, we ordered drinks and then our food. The waiting staff were all so friendly and polite. The food we had was very good, fresh and very hot. It was a good price for us all to have breakfast and drinks.

First impressions count. I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions. I am yet to walk in there and see dirty dishes on empty tables. The plates are cleared as you finish your meal. when the customers leave, they come over and clear and clean the area ready for the next customer. The choice on the menu is excellent. There is something on there for everyone and if there isn’t which is probably very rare they try to accommodate you for example fish without batter, or grilled if you don’t like it with batter. The portion size is good and as they say you get what you pay for Quality, Homemade cooked food.NEVER greasy.The Chips are lovely. The staff are very friendly, polite and very helpful. If you are ever in the area, I would recommend a visit here. I would say from my own experience it’s probably the best you will get anywhere in the Clacton town.

This restaurant is worth a visit, located at the junction of two side roads a short walk from the main street. Not the cheapest, but the opposite of the typical English greasy spoon. Varied menu with wall boards chalking up its specials, both mains and sweets. I will be back before the summeris out.

Went to daveys for a light lunch had jacket potato and salad. It was lovely, staff were very friendly even the owner came out and spoke to us. Would definitely recommend xx

We arrived 15 mins early for our table of 5. Was told very abruptly to come back as we were too early and people were still at our table. The waitress was a lady with brown hair and glasses. There was the same size table directly next to “our table” that was empty but was still told to come back. I came back with my family at 2.30 as requested and was seated at the now vacant table. I enquired why I couldn’t sit at the still vacant table in the first place and was told it was “reserved” and they couldn’t seat me Incase the other people arrived even though I was there first. I questioned this logic but was met with attitude from the waitress. We were served by another lady but I was very aware of the stares and sneering from the original waitress. She smirked with other staff at me and my family the whole visit which made everyone uncomfortable. When it was time to pay I approached the desk handed her my bill to have the card machine shoved at me while she stood staring and smirking at me again with her arms crossed. No please no thank you no manners or customer service at all. My elderly mother and 2 children could see she had an attitude and my youngest child refused to eat there because of the “rude lady. If you wish to gossip about your customers please at least wait until they leave the premises.

Great food and staff are brilliant. Never been disappointed with the food or the service. You will go a long way to beat the banana split. Food rapport from the main man himself Well done daveys

Cannot fault this venue. Service, staff, food all first class. Could just do with bigger premises as a bit of a tight fit.

Working in Clacton again, had one of the best breakfasts ever. As per last visit, place was spotless, Ladies lovely and quality ingredients. Well done, see you in six months.

I was able to choose my breakfast components which included my favourite bubble and squeak . Everything was superb , washed down with a big mug of tea . The place is beautifully decorated and squeaky clean . I like the little touch of a small pair of scissors to get those pesky sauce sachets open ! 10/10 breakfast

This is a fantastic restaurant the food is amazing, my favourite is the mixed grill cooked to perfection. And lovely staff too. Why would you go anywhere else.

We have been going here for years as a family. Good home cooked food, good service and very reasonably priced. Staff friendly and food always hot.

My partner and I go here a lot. At least once a month for lunch. I love the omelette, chips and salad, and the bubble and squeek, bacon etc. He is into the liver and bacon, gammon steak, ham and chips type thing. The service is good, the only gripe we have is that we sometimes have to sit at a very tiny table that really is not big enough.

It was busy but they got us in. Table of four. That's a tip by itself. Then the service was absolutely excellent. Nicely paced everything delivered quickly but with time to think. Then the food was absolutely excellent. I had the whitebait that was accompanied by spiced fries and a delicious salad. All four enjoyed their food immensely. Top work. In Clacton again I would return in a heartbeat. YUM! Go. You won't regret it.

Been here every day every time we come to Clacton the dinners are all homemade plenty of fresh veganything we choose has been fabulous best restaurant around here the staff are really lovely 😍

We do some work in the town every six months and found this lovely little gem. I had the Beef Lasagne and garlic bread, my mate had ham and eggs, both meals were fantastic. We had to follow up with a delicious apple and rhubarb crumble. The ladies were really friendly and nothing to much trouble. That good we've reserved a table for our December visit.

If ever we want to eat out in Clacton, we Always eat here. They cater for my mum who likes a small adults meal and me who's a vegetarian. My daughter is very happy with her steak. The staff are so welcoming.

This restaurant serves a nice breakfast using good quality ingredients, well cooked and served quickly by friendly staff. It is usually busy with regular customers, which is always a good sign.
