Perfect location for a cocktail in the sun. Service was exceptional and friendly. Cocktail was to die for. Enjoyed our drinks we booked the next day for breakfast. Food was hot, fresh & tasty. Again superb service from another team of staff. Such a happy place to be.

This lovely restaurant a nice feel to it overlooking out over the marina. There were outdoor tables and seating area but we chose to eat inside. The staff were very welcoming and also a very nice menu to choose from. The food we ordered was excellent, freshly cooked and good value for money. We all enjoyed our lunch out and will definitely be returning again. Highly recommend this place to eat 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We used the foot ferry to travel from Mersea island, and stumbled across this bar. What a find!!! This is a rare gem, and what a treat it was. We started with mains, the trio of burgers, did not disappoint! They were very tasty. The lasagna and garlic flatbread again, were beautifully made, and again, was very tasty. The cod risotto, the cod was beautifully cooked and just melted in the mouth. Then it was time for desserts…. The home made biscof cheesecake was clearly popular as multiple people had it whilst we were eating, so it had to be ordered! Along with the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, and bread and butter pudding with clotted cream. To say we were fighting to try each others is an understatement! It’s beautifully decorated and situated on the marina. The toilets were clean and modern. If we were to ever be this way again we wouldn’t hesitate to come back. 5* - we couldn’t fault anything about it.

It was nice but very pricey. Service was friendly, food was tasty but my god was it expensive for what it was, has potentially to be a nice restaurant but needs to remember it’s not in Mayfair.

We stumbled across No 1 on a day out exploring the area. What a great find. Bright and modern restaurant. Overlooking the marina. Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the home made lasagne. All the food that was going out looked lovely. Highly recommend. Tie it in with a walk along the sea wall to work up a hunger.

Nice vibe, friendly staff and great location. The food however was poor at best. Whitebait overcooked, Bruschetta missing pesto and tomato uncooked and so cold it had no flavour. It all looked so promising but we won’t be returning anytime soon.

Great service, great location and absolutely amazing food. Me and my partner had the seafood meze to share along with some chips and not one fault.

The location & decor of the restaurant was really lovely. The staff also couldn’t be more friendly & helpful however, unfortunately we were really disappointed with the quality of the food. Nothing really had much flavour & just tasted greasy and wet, for almost £60 it was disappointing to walk away still hungry and dissatisfied.

A short trip to Brightlingsea on a sunny Monday and where to have lunch? And so we stumbled across No 1 Harbour Square - a little licenced cafe overlooking the marina. Food was simply lovely. Well cooked and very tasty. I had the scampi (does it get much lighter than this) and my wife the fish and chips. Perfect. Efficient service from the young, friendly team. And all for a fair price too. If I lived in Brightlingsea this would be our regular haunt.

6 of us had Mother’s Day Lunch here, the food was really good, with a great choice, including the traditional Sunday Lunch. The staff are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The pricing was very good. The staff here are well trained and nothing fazes them. The restaurant is warm and comfortable but not huge. There’s is outside seating for better weather, and the do provide blankets if it’s a bit chilly.

We went to No 1 Harbour Square for a leaving do. We were a party of 13 and we were treated really well. We requested platters to share and they did not disappoint. Staff were great, food was excellent quality, beautifully presented,and the coffee was really good. Our team were very impressed with the service, one said the service was better than her recent trip to London. Thanks Kurt and the team, we will be back.

Years since we visited brightlingsea and was great to see this place open in a nice area of the harbour. We stayed for drinks but the atmosphere was lovely out of the terrace and the food menu looked great. Next time we visit we’ll definitely come for lunch.

We very much enjoyed lunch here - good quality food, sensible portion sizes, friendly staff willing to make slight adjustments when required (e.g skinny chips instead of fat ones), great location. What's not to like?

The waitress was very friendly and cheerful. I had chicken Caesar .love large bits of chicken .well presented. My husband had fish mezze and had plenty of fish again well presented. We sat outside where it was a good atmosphere Would. Recommend

We called in on spec without pre-booking and a table for four was found immediately. Premises clean and modern, toilets first class. Chairs padded and comfortable. Basic fairly limited menu but everything we ordered was excellent (and we can be picky!). Prices reasonable. Service was attentive and friendly. Apart from our salt cellar not working (rectified immediately) we couldn't find fault anywhere.

Love going here but today thought Caesar salad bit disappointing usually served in a deep dish today on a plate not as much very tasty

The food was excellent had cod and chips 2 times . One big let down was the menus printed on a piece of A 4 Paper and handed to each customer it looked and felt so unprofessional. Also a Limited choice of desserts

We found this place by chance and it was perfect. We sat outside and were too late to order baguette so settled for coffee & cake which was lovely. The view was picturesque. Would recommend this place.

We always visit this lovely bar for lunch during the summer. Sitting outside with the sun shining, a cold drink in hand an some of their delicious food on the table looking out across the estuary - what could be better?! My mum often says it’s reminiscent of the South of France. Would highly recommend for a late lunch!

Had a pleasant lunch , had enjoyed the whitebait as part of a main on a previous visit when asked the staff agreed to do a whitebait starter although not on the menu , the rest of the meal was v.good loved the chunky chips. Thank you all!

Loved this place right next to the harbour interior was classy and comfortable looking, it was a lovely day so we sat outside the staff were very friendly just had coffee and cake, the cake was delicious clearly freshly made. There were not many people about so it wasn't busy it seemed to be surrounded by empty buildings. It was peaceful until some building work started up nearby but i guess that will not go on forever. Hope the area picks up and becomes a hub for visitors it would be a shame for it to close through lack of customers.

Had a couple of meals here, first was lunch which was lovely, chips were the best. Second time was breakfast and again was very good.Little things let it down eg outside tables were not washed down and we were the first sitting so no excuse. Also all tables seemed to share the same sugar bowel

We went here on Saturday evening for a drink and some food. Food was particularly excellent. Great starters, especially the Houmous and Nachos.The burgers were divine.Family loved it!Going back again before we leave and we will be back on our return for sure.

This is a superb place. I’ve visited it a couple of times a year for the last 4 years & it’s always been fantastic. In the last few years it’s mainly been family lunches or early dinners with our young boys & their grandfather. But a few years ago they helped out with a big table for a large group of ladies for big celebration.

Friendly and welcoming couple made us feel very comfortable on a marina setting. Good menu and well priced wine.

Friends visiting from London wanted to have lunch by the seaside so we chose No. 1 Harbour Square overlooking the Marina. We were all very impressed with the quality of food served and the efficiency of the staff who were very welcoming. On a summers day it would be the perfect setting.

Lovely clean and comfy, staff are very pleasant and friendly. The coffee was excellent in flavour and heat on a very cold blowy day.

Its location is ideal, right on the harbour and the interior is smart and modern. The 10 of us enjoyed a warm welcome here and all enjoyed our choices. However, as we saw others plates being brought to the table, remarked "Ooh. That looks good!" Mental note for next time... The wines were reasonably priced and flavoursome and the service was friendly and efficient. A very nice place.

The staff where very friendly and welcoming. Very helpful and polite. Meal was great. First family lunch there. We've been there of an evening without the children and it Is a great place for a meal or just a few drinks.

Affordable excellent food, freshly cooked, lovely service. My only (niggling) dislike is the dining chairs are too low for me! I am medium height, not short by any means, but it s not a major problem that would stop me going there again!

I absolutely love this place. The food is always delicious and so is their pink blush rose. I've never been let down by the food here and would highly recommend.

Had a buffet to celebrate my mum's 70th last year and also my daughter's 25th the year before. Both times the food was fantastic, especially the little Yorkshire pud and roast beef with horseradish amuse-bouche. One small complaint, could do with more ales for non-Lager drinkers.

No 1 Harbour Square is a small but very popular restaurant serving the most delicious food. I mainly have the salads which are made with top ingredients and taste delicious.

This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. Firstly, it is in an idyllic location looking over the boats and water. One the glorious sunny day we were there you could have been anywhere in the world! All very clean and great comfy chairs to sit outside. One particular waitress was very attentive and extremely helpful especially with accommodating our 2 young children. We had a superb lunch and quite reasonably priced considering the location.

We arrived on a Sunday looking for a light lunch. No menu outside so walked in: it looked OK and was full-ish. We asked at the bar if they had a table for two (in case they could, for example, split one of the tables for four occupied by two). Just got a "nah" for a reply, not an apology, or "would you like to come back later?". We went to the Coach House instead and had a good lunch. We won't go back if that is their attitude.

My partner and I visited here on our trip to see family, we have been before for a drink and have always said we will return for food. It did not disappoint! I am a coeliac, so eating out can be difficult and worrying at times, but they were so accommodating - including changing parts in my meal and offering alternatives to ensure it was safe. My partner's fish and chips, he said, was amazing. Many thanks to everyone here for being so lovely and accommodating, we will definitely be returning next time we are in the area!

Visited after a stroll around the town and a welcome haven set away in a new development. Good seating outside and views across the harbour. Drinks quickly served and reasonable priced. No food partaken but seeing other orders certainly looked good.

Just had a lovely lunch from the new menu, plenty of choice also vegan and vegetarian choices available. Great service as always, relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views of the marina, perfect location.

Four of us happened upon this little place by chance, so glad we did. Very nice decor and friendly staff. We had 2 homemade soups, sausage in granary bread and smoked salmon in granary bread, 3 teas and one wine. Total £33 for 4 people. We thought it was reasonable for the service and quality of food. Would thoroughly recommend.

My partner and I frequent this establishment quite a lot, always a warm friendly welcome and ample of seating in and outside, beautiful views of the marina on comfortable outside chairs and throw in blankets if it gets cold. Reasonably price menu and wide choice of coffees from fancy to plain, regular music nights and good turn out from the locals also have monthly theme nights from curry nights to prossecco. Would highly recommend from a quick latte to a fun evening packed with good food, wine, music and company

Bien, qué decepción! ! Bonito lugar, pero eso es donde termina. Pedimos unas bebidas, mi problema es que el personal del bar enorme realmente necesitan saber cómo servir bebidas correctamente. Pedimos un G&T; y llegó con toda la tónica (sin botella) una enorme, no, no. Pedimos entrantes, bien caro lo que servían. Luego tuvimos una envoltura, hija le encantó y dos ensaladas. La ensalada Cesar con pollo fue una gran decepción, no hay mucho de vestirse y tenía vinagre esmaltes más de él? ? ? También tuvimos un cangrejo y aguacate ensalada, de nuevo la ensalada era viscoso ya que tenía un montón de vinagre de vestidor y el vinagre otra apariencia esmaltes! ! No hay limón y estaba fatal! ! Intentamos conseguir un miembro de atención personal, pero nadie registró hasta la mesa fue aclarado. Se podía ver que la comida no había sido comido, pero a nosotros no nos pidió que si había un problema? ? Cuando nos quejamos, la camarera nos dijo que era el mejor plato de venta y que nadie más se queje? ? De nuevo un pobre servicio al cliente. Me negué a pagar, y solo fue cuando fuimos a pagar que creo fue el director dijo que nuestra comida habían sentado alrededor por un tiempo! ! Así que me alegro de no haber tenido comer el cangrejo. La cuenta fue de £42, caro y el chef necesita laicos de la vinagre! ! Que no volveré.

Este es un tesoro escondido. Se sirve comida durante todo el día. La comida está recién hecha y simplemente fabuloso. En un día soleado es genial para comer mirando al puerto brightlingsea.

De hecho encontramos el bar por casualidad después de encontrar nuestro tearoom destinados cerrado. Un cartel en el Waterfront dirigió varios metros por un sendero hacia el bar, que además tiene asientos al aire libre y magníficas vistas al mar. Disfruté de una cerveza Moretti...

staff are the main problem have been there quite a bit since it was taken over and have found that the service has realy gone down staff don't acknowledge you at the bar ( which is the first thing you do wiith a customer even if you are too busy to deal with them at that time) they even carry on dailing on thier mobile phones while you are waiting to pay.

Visit this tucked away venue every time we visit Brightlingsea, and have never been disappointed. We usually have Coffee and cake, the latter from a good range of Pastries, but on this occasion decided to stay longer and 'test the Menu, which for us appeared to have undergone an overhaul. We were not disappointed. Our small group tried Ham,Egg and Chips; a Pulled Pork Wrap and a Chicken with Mayo Granary Sandwich with a Side order of Chips. Unfortunately their very popular Chunky Chips had Sold out, but they were still able to serve ordinary but still excellent plain Chips. They are licenced so a very good house wine was enjoyed by two of us. I can thoroughly recommend this venue

After a lengthy family walk through rain and rainbows we wanted a warm drink to warm us from the inside. We haven't sampled the food (although the pictures here look lovely) but the place was quite busy for a rainy Sunday afternoon so we assumed this was a good sign. The drinks (a coffee, a pot of tea, 2 luxury hot chocolates and a scone with cream and jam) came to around £11 which seemed very reasonable and the staff were quick. Will visit again for food if we are in the area.

I have eaten here several times and the food has always been good. The menu is unpretentious but has a good range of dishes - something for everyone, including the grandchildren who are 11 and 6. Everything is fresh, nicely cooked and well presented.The service was efficient and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant is warm and comfortable inside, but if the weather permits, then sit outside and enjoy the views across the estuary. It is just delightful.

Cold winter lunch time walk meant that the ham egg and chips was most welcome as well as being really tasty.The service was great, they were happy to juggle menu to get a suitable vegetarian option.Lively atmosphere too.Will go again in summer to sit outside.

Those who think Brightlingsea is a wilderness of good food have not been to this wine bar / restaurantOur family have been here 4 or 5 time for lunch over last 18 months ; we find that with only approx 20 covers internally one needs to arrive early to get a seat . In the summer it is lovely having a meal at the outside eating area ,whilst overlooking the harbour .The menu is refreshingly minimal, confined to the likes of sandwiches , wraps , nachos , burgers , fish and chips , and salads , with daily specials ; however everything is really well cooked and presented

Setting is fantastic overlooking the estuary and the new habour. Limited menu but good food and drink a very pleasant place to wile away a sunny afternoon only open in.the evenings at weekends recommended

I didn't know this restaurant existed and it is tucked away in the new square that surrounds a small marina. We went for a simple fish and chips. The batter was wonderfully light and crisp. The fish was not overcooked and clearly very fresh and white. Served with minted mushy peas and chips, this was fish and chips very well presented and tasting delicious.

No 1 Harbour Square is a great little wine bar offering the perfect lunch or dinner spot right by Brightlingsea Marina and The Hard. We've become regular visitors when we are coming and going from the harbour and enjoy it's relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and simple but delicious food offerings.On our most recent visit we enjoyed a delicious salmon and crayfish salad and a really good burger with all the trimmings. They also do some great platters and there are a good selection of sharing nibbles to enjoy with drinks.This place is great addition to the Brightlingsea food scene.

I was visiting my sister who lives locally and recommend this restaurant for a late Sunday lunch. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the place was spotless and the service was very good.The food was very good, I ordered the fish and chips and can honestly say that it was the best fish I have had.I thought that prices were reasonable - certainly not over the top. I would thoroughly recommend this place and will certainly return next time I'm in the area.

Lovely food, great staff, great wine selection. What better than to eat/drink inside or out looking out over the marina to Point Clear and beyond. Afternoon tea scones are fabulous, large with lovely flavour, clotted cream and jam. Starters are great - nice to share too. Sitting outside in recent weather was like being in the med!!!

Staying in the Waterside apartments we called in as very handy being so close. The restaurant is very nice with very friendly staff and an outside seating area looking over the harbour. The food was very nice and well presented but we did not go back as found the prices to be on the expensive side and the portions somewhat small. We would go back in the future but only for a drink.

Had a meal with drinks here, sat inside although outside seating is available. Great location overlooking the harbour. Didn't wait long for the food, which was very nice. Only one lager on tap, which is fine as it's Birra Moretti, an excellent one!.....a little expensive, but only to be expected in this tourist 'hotspot'.

Very busy on our visit service could have been better table was cleared as we arrived but we were not giving a menu or asked if we wanted to order a drink . After 5 minutes I went to the counter to ask for a menu and was told to wait we waited a further 10 minutes before waiter approach and he was surprised the waitress who cleared the table had not taken our order for drinks at least . He took our order and did the drinks straight away and said there would be a delay with the food as they were busy . We had ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad and a Pulled Pork wrap it took about 15 minutes and we could not fault the food it was very tasty and well prepared . Shame about the service it was also very noisy inside due to a group in the corner who sounded like locals who you could hear above the background music if we come here again we would probably sit outside

Visited here with my mum and two children. Was a beautiful day and would have been lovely to sit outside but only one parasol table which had already been taken.The food was beautifully presented. My fish and chips were lovely. Just a shame no children's portions were offered. My mum and daughter shared a main.
