Why have I waited so long to go here? Service, food, ambience 10/10!!! A great place run by fabulous people with great customer service and great food. The starters of parfait and goats cheese were delicious, seabass was excellent, the steak was sublime and we had a sticky toffee pudding and pavlova for desert both of which were superb.Excellent portions and very good value for money. We will be going back again.....and again

Excellent food and great service. We were a very large group of 20, only booked the night before and they accommodated us well. The staff were lovely and very patient with us! The food was brilliant. Thank you!

disgusting filthy place, dont visit, third room we had to accept, didn't stay the second night, bar area, rooms all tatty, they say its going to be refurbished next year, it wants closing down now at least till this work has carried out.

Very good food but we had to wait one hour for food

Having visited this pub for many many years each time I come I am left feeling a bit less satisfied. It is hard to find a good pub with good simple pub food done well and they are trying to go more up market, leaving behind the people that travel for their food and atmosphere. Portions have gone through shrinkflation, I get that times are hard and prices have to go up but £16 for scampi that’s lost a quarter of the portion it used to be is hard to revisit (and I’m being generous) and also £15 for some of the baguettes offered at lunch is quite steep, and these prices for food that just isn’t as good anymore, we used to be wowed. Unfortunately I think we will be moving on from this once great value and tasty spot. Such a shame.

Lovely freshly cooked wholesome British food, with some interesting twists on the specials board, more than just pub grub. I had steak, tomato and almond pie, mashed potato, carrots, cabbage and green beans followed by damson Panna cotte

This is a new firm favourite with myself and my family. We first enjoyed a meal here on a Saturday evening back in February. The pub was incredibly busy but we had booked and our table was waiting. The menu is diverse and everything was available. We were all very pleased with out meals. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We were celebrating a birthday and this did not disappoint. Therefore I booked for Mothering Sunday. Once again, we were greeted by the friendly staff who operate with a "willing, can-do" attitude even with a smile. We enjoyed a traditional roast and some tasty desserts. I'd say the food is great but the people are what make the experience memorable! We will absolutely be back! The pub dog adds to the charm!

Had an unplanned visit here after a walk over Needham Lakes on a very warm day. So a cool drink and food was certainly welcome. We had two small dogs, so we had to sit outside. That's OK, a nice day and plenty of tables outside, and a large grassed area up the steps beside the inn. Inside the inn it looked clean and the staff were friendly, quite a good selection of drinks. Food selection was good and they had a few specials, what we ordered was brought to our table outside, quite trek for the server, up the steps but they were obviously used to it the way they managed to traverse the steps with a large tray full of food and condiments. Delivered with a smile and made sure we had everything we wanted. Food was tasty and good temperature, plenty of it as well. In all a pleasant visit, prices reasonable and compares well with similar establishments. I would visit again but I would expect for the less able, they would need to be inside or on the one table I saw at ground level. I didn't see a wheelchair access but there may have been another entrance I didn't see. The entrance we went in had steps and would have been very difficult to get a wheelchair through, there are also steps to the toilets.

Never been to this pub before it was a wonderful experience. Everything was fabulous, the atmosphere, the food ( Sunday lunch), attentive and friendly staff, really couldn't fault it. The roast was top notch, a hearty plate full, and desert of brownie and ice cream just finished it off splendidly. Couldn't praise this place enough, will definitely return.

My son and granddaughter chose to bring me here for an early Mother's Day meal, I'd not been to The Dog since my husband died. We were warmly welcomed, the service was friendly and expert and the food was delicious! Couldn't wish for better!

Managed to take a late birthday booking for 11. Even put banners up. Great home cooked food and value for money. Will be definitely back again.

Had an amazing time at the crown last night. Wonderful service from the moment I walked in. Marni on the bar was really informative and Sian who delivered my food was very polite. Would certainly recommend to my friends and family.

Our family came here to celebrate my Granny’s 80th and we were delighted with our lunch! Food was delicious, tasty local ales, service great and they even surprised our Granny with a lovely birthday brownie complete with candle. Thanks for going the extra mile and making the day so special!
