A very good night out, that's how I describe this place. As soon as you walk in you know it's going to be good. Lots of people in the bar, we sat in the restaurant which is lovely plenty of space and you can see the huge pizza oven. Service was friendly and we felt so welcome. Food was delicious and the beer was apparently a great pint! We will definitely be back.

After becoming medically gluten and dairy free recently, I have trawled through menus from lots of places and was quite disappointed. I fortunately found the Shepherd and Dog had an extensive gluten free menu. Today I was finally able to eat out gluten and dairy free. Great understanding of both intolerances. Food was lovely and freshly made, will definitely be back again. Lovely garden to have lunch in the sunshine too 😊

Just had the most amazing Valantines Dinner at the Chestnut Horse Pub, Great Finborough. The stake was cooked to perfection, followed by the most ecsquisite Raspberry Posset and home made shortbread..amazing. we had fantastic service to meet the fine food we experienced, thank you Chestnut Horse Pub.

We’ve visited The Punch Bowl many times, as it’s just 10 minutes away from us, and it’s always been a nice pub in the past. Unfortunately, something has changed, and it’s not for the better. Upon arrival, we were met with stares from the locals, almost as if we were being judged on whether we were ‘worthy’ of being there. Despite having made a reservation, we were seated at a cramped table in the corner, right by the serving door, which was kicked open into my chair. The table had originally been set for three, but it was hard to see how it would’ve worked comfortably for any diner being so close to the door. There were other tables available, including one with just young children at it, so it felt unnecessary to place us where we were. The food was okay, but it no longer felt like good value for the price. Additionally, we were charged for a drink we didn’t order, though it was promptly removed when we pointed it out. All in all, this community pub no longer lives up to what it once was.

Went there Christmas Eve with friends, 10 of us, including one in a wheelchair. Landlady watched us come thru the door, struggling with wheelchair in the process, and once we got in there bluntly told us there were no tables vacant and we couldn’t stand anywhere either. We asked how about out the back and were rudely told “no, it’s laid up for tomorrow”. So we had to turn round and leave without getting g served. Her attitude was appalling and extremely rude - there certainly would have been a more polite way of turning us away. Will never go there again till it’s sold to new owners. Luckily we have another extremely friendly and welcoming pub in the village so Christmas Eve was still great for us.

We went there to order lunch, and our mistake, no lunch on weekends. The staff was helpful, the food was delicious and creative. The theme is cats, no surprise. It's a very small place, maybe 10 tables, and while the staff is nice, the postings around the cafe are clear that they want you to leave when you're done eating. There's a "no camping" theme aimed at turning over tables. Also on the back of the drinks menu is a list of funny/snarky rules about how guests should behave in their cafe. I get the "don't drink and drive" comment. Some I find a little much though. YMMV. They will charge % if you use a credit card, and will give you a discount if you wear either cat eye glasses or a cowboy hat (or both) while you're eating. If we go again instead of going for savory substance we'll try sweet treats. There's cumin in the salsa.

Truly wonderful evening. I’m dairy intolerant, however I was made to feel so special. They had designed me a personally unique menu, with 3+ choices for each course, and printed it out ready for my arrival. Our waitress was attentive super friendly and very knowledgeable. Food was incredible, with extra in between course treats. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, feel so lucky it’s on our doorstep.

Recently visited for my cousins 60th birthday. We are a large family so we preordered. The food was amazing, fresh, home cooked and hot! The staff are really friendly, nice people. My son has autism and he is extremely picky with food, they accommodated wonderfully and made absolutely sure his food was delivered to him exactly how he could cope with it. The atmosphere is lovely and desserts were lovely. I had steak and kidney pudding!! Out of this world! Now we have found this place we will be back for other family things or just an evening out. Thanks so much and please done lose your staff or chef they are an asset.

Absolutely amazing. Me and my partner took advantage of their Sunday sleep over in one of the Shepherds hut with a hot tub. We had a 3 course meal, the nights stay in the shepherds hut with hot tub & breakfast all for only £130. The food was absolutely delicious and the Shepherds hut was brilliant!! Spending the night in the hot tub staring up at the stars was the icing on the cake. Definitely be doing it again, and again!!
