Excellent lunch menu and great value coupled with very friendly staff. I wish that there were more pubs like this

We always get a very warm welcome and great service . The food never disappoints and is very reasonably priced with a great selection of dishes including ’Daily Specials’ and currently a Special 2 course lunchtime offer(main & pud) for £12.50 which is served Monday through and including Thursday. If you are not familiar with Laxfield it’s a gorgeous village, full of character, charm and history and you will instantly feel very relaxed and smiley.

Nice friendly pub, very tasty lunch and a good range of beers. Handy location with lots of good cycling and walking in the area. Nice outdoor area.

Clients are reluctant to engage in conversations with strangers. A bit offish, territorial, stand offish, insular, not teribble friendly; a little prickly.

Proper friendly relaxed local's pub that gives a warm welcome to visitors from staff and locals. I've stayed in the village for a few months and have been very much welcomed in the Royal. Well kept ale, 3 regular pumps and a guest that changes one barrel at a time. Roaring open fire in the winter. Food is great, homely well cooked and reasonably priced. Fresh fish and chips on a Friday including takeaway. Great steaks and burgers, steak specials on Thursday. Children's menu too. Pool, darts and outside seating. Occasional special events and music, certainly worth a visit. Open every day.... Early until late. Cracking atmosphere ...... The kind of place you really want as your local.

Sunday lunch for my aunties birthday 🎂 Absolutely lovely homemade roast, very homely/cosy feeling to the pub and fab, friendly hosts. Very good value and great menu with something for everyone. It's a little journey for us but hopefully we'll make it back soon.

Average at best. Barmaids served their locals over holiday makers. Food plain and small portions. The picture says it all there was 5 of us.

This is a village community pub and it is fine for a drink. Food service hours are unfortunately reduced, which is a shame but understandable in the current economic situation. As it is a local pub it’s clientele seems to be almost exclusively local people, so you do get the startled stunned silence and looks of surprise from the regulars when you first go in! The single member of staff on duty when I visited was distracted with conversations about holidays or something similar, that resulted in an few awkward moments just standing in front of the bar feeling a bit ignored. This type of pub is clearly very important to its community but it could try a bit more to appeal to visitors to the area and village as I am sure more people would stop by

Nice layout, good selection of beer, helpful staff and a warm atmosphere, Sadly, I'm only awarding three stars, as while the food on paper looks good, the actual product is disappointing. A good drinkers pub though.

Well presented good value meal, with very nice pint of real ale and friendly welcome for our first time visit to this characterful pub in the heart of an attractive Suffolk village. Hope to return soon!

Lovely village pub, friendly staff and helpful with the menu advice. Some great local ale and tasty food to go with it. Nice seating areas outside when the sun is shining 😊 We were staying local for a few days and ate here more than once, which says it worth more than one visit 👍🏼

we were camping close by and fancied something other than stove food..we tried here..my god we were not disappointed..friendly staff and the food....I had deep fried whitebait as a starter..was enough for a main course..the lad that served us did a great job..overall 10/10

Nice little country pub, good beer and always a few folk about. Covered outside seating and heated, also a pool table and even still a dukebox. Food is available.

A perfect village pub - right next to the church and market square (which has community market on Saturday mornings), very friendly service, good selection of real ales, extensive menu and enjoyable food. We had a lunchtime drink, morning coffee and evening meal (not all on the same day!). Dog friendly too.

Stopped by on our way back from Dunwich after spotting the pub on the way there. So glad we did, the Sunday Roasts were spot on, easily the best I've had from a pub in a very long while, if not ever! Really had got that home cooked taste and not mass produced rubbish you can get in some places. The staff were lovely, will definitely return. Thanks peeps 😎👌

Decent pub grub, and pint of Adnams, plus helpful & friendly welcome from staff : what more do you want ? It's a popular place, and it allows dogs in too ! Seating available outside, under canopies ~ reasonable selection of beers and spirits as well.

Was here for a wake. About 400 people present. The Royal Oak staff were well organised and everything went smoothly.

Lovely welcoming pub in the centre of Laxfield village. Plenty of room with a lovely fireplace, staff were very nice and the food was great. A selection of beers on offer. Definitely worth a visit.

Met up with friends for coffee during Laxfield Community Market (1st Sat of month) and decided to have brunch. The full English was great value and delicious as used high quality ingredients, especially the sausages. Coffee was great too, definitely recommend.

The food is excellent, only pub open in this area. I'll be back tomorrow for steak night.Yum

The staff are friendly, brilliant it's a shame I was to late for food after 2 o'clock my bag you have got to visit this village its straight off a picture post card.....

Lovely place to stop to have a drink or something to eat. We decided to do both with some friends that were visiting us. We each had something different to eat and we all cleared our plates. You could decide if you wanted to eat in or outside at the front that was under cover. Staff were friendly and polite.

Very much a local pub which was reflected in the cold reception we recieved. Despite feeling awkward we stayed as it was the 3rd pub we'd tried to get a table in. The food was alright, wine selection mediocre but sadly the welcome didn't make for a great impression and overall experience.

Love this pub. It has a lot of charm and a buzzy atmosphere. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. Had a lovely roast dinner here, you could tell it was freshly cooked and also had one of the best deserts I've had in a long while. They also do a take away service for you from the menu and we have had some lovely meals from this too.

The food was the best food I've had, compliments to the chef truly beautifully done and fresh I ve had the grilled cod with mashed potatoes and a side salad, our table had the liver, fish and chips, chicken burger, halloumi butter and creamy mushroom starter, everything fresh and excellent. Other pubs have to raise their game if they want to keep up with this one. Best price for value I've seen. Will come again! Many thanks also to the waiting staff for the top-notch excellent service.

Such a lovely pub with the friendliest bar staff! They serve the best drinks and comfort pub food. Always a good time to stop by, have a drink and enjoy a chat and special mention to Tilly for being excellent, as always!

Lovely pub but my ploughmans was the worst I've ever had. Bread was part-baked from a supermarket and the cheese was plastic, tasteless cheese - rounded at the edges and creases visible from plastic wrapping! All for £9.50 so would have been better to go to the Co-op across the road. Very easy to fix this and hope they offer decent bread and proper cheese soon.

A gem in Laxfield where you get the best drinks, good quality pub food and best bar staff looking after you. Excellent service quality, no wonder people from afar flock here to enjoy the atmosphere. And thank you, Tilly for always being the best!

Beer was now very nice. Grandsons coke was flat. And not a smile from the staff. 1st & last time I will go here.
