The most terrible abuse of non drinkers I have ever witnessed in any public house. A poor girl who was not drinking as she was the designated driver had personal abuse levied at her from the female barmaid. It was England v Wales World Cup evening and due to the abuse about not buying drinks the driver burst into tears and had to leave. I mean her friends were buying alcohol, she just was not. I will never ever come to this pub again. Disgusting to say the least, for a pub staff member almost criminal. I will tell all my friends about this. Well do e to the barmaid.

The lady behind the bar confronted my friend because she decided to not buy a drink. All others in the group bought a drink but she was driving. After being called out in front of a number of people she felt uncomfortable and left the pub. The bar lady proceeded to talk poorly about my friend with locals within our ear shot. Strangest most uncomfortable experience I have had in a pub would 100% NOT recommend.

Landlord very rude to dog owners, considering it's supposed to be dog friendly. A dog barked reacting to barking outside the pub. He sat at the opposite side of the pub and called out "what's going on over there." Then when the dog barked again for the same reason he called out " you will be asked to leave". The dog owner lives in the village and is a regular. When she tried to explain what the situation was he said "then report me to the dog people" . He has lost another customer. Including me and a lot of other regulars. Please do not spend any more money in this pub. I will never recommend it until new managers are employed. Shame it was a great little watering hole. 😞😞😞

Such a shame to be the last surviving pub in Debenham... please go in if you’re visiting as it is lovely. We were staying with relatives for one week and popped in here about 3 times!! Yesterday, my wife and i took my aged aunt to Debenham, a village which was new to us but which my aunt knew well. The Woolpack is the only surviving pub in Debenham and is well worth a visit. Arriving in Debenham early for a funeral at the local church, The Woolpack was close by with easy on-street parking so I decided to have a snack lunch there. What a good choice! There is a wide choice of proper beers and lagers and the ham sandwich, served with potato crisps and lettuce, was excellent. It is a small, quintessentially, English pub; great atmosphere, great staff and a terrace outside at the back. In the Gentlemen's Toilet there is a certificate asserting that this lavatory is officially twinned with a loo in Uganda. How good is that?

The chips are absolutely perfect, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Even our favourite fish and chips restaurant could learn from the chef/cook here. My wife had the lamb shank with red wine and rosemary sauce. Initially I thought the pub had little or no ambiance, but I quickly realized that this is a real village pub and in that respect it was really quite enjoyable. They also welcome dogs. We used to enjoy our outings to the Gladstone, but it has turned into a dirty, smelly and "clicky" place to eat or drink! Instead of being dog friendly it is more like a dog kennel - dogs annoy non-dog owners by licking them etc and sitting on the seating instead of under the tables. The seats and tables are dirty and the whole place is unhygienic - we will not return and will leave it to the arrogant dog owners who think everybody wants to be licked and dribbled on by their pets!
