The White Horse Inn in Mid Suffolk

Lovely hotel, rooms clean and comfortable, food great. We visit often as it is always the same very high standard.

We broke our journey to Norwich to have lunch at the White Horse Inn. There is a good menu and the food and friendly service were both top class. The courses are all quite substantial so you need to be hungry when you have a meal here which we would recommend you do if in the area.

Beautiful location and atmosphere! Food was the best pub food I have had in a very long time! Compliments to the chef!

After being diagnosed with MS this week we was treated to a night away in one of the white horses Shepard's huts to process what we had been told . The Shepard's hut was amazing but the most amazing part of our stay was our waiter Peter in the restaurant. His manners were impeccable and he made us laugh which goes a long way after a rubbish week . He was extremely professional and amazing at his job . The white horse needs to keep staff like Peter . Thank you so much Peter for everything you did .

We have lived locally for a few months and decided to try the White Horse for Friday night dinner on the spur of the moment. Easy booking via the website and lots of parking. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a friendly greeting from the staff. The menu has good choice and the prices are very reasonable. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back. Great value for money and the fact there was a good crowd in means other people obviously agree.

Alittle difficult to find if you out the postcode on your Sat nav as the whole village uses the same postcode. It is, therefore, better to type in the whole name of the venue. The food and service was amazing. I stayed in one of the Shepherds huts, they are a good size for a couple. These also have a hot tub outside that is heated with log fire, these are also provided. I didn't use it this time (the weather was too cold for me). Would say here again.

I went for breakfast with 2 colleagues. When paying. The staff member charged me £73 instead of £33. I contacted them soon after to raise the mistake. I was then told the difference would be returned to my card. I was told 5-7 days. It's now been 2 weeks. I have spoken to them twice since then, with further "guarantees" and yet I'm still waiting for my money to be returned.

Fabulous. Flavour explosion, everything cooked to perfection, great location, decor & service. (Could have eaten more of the venison meatballs tho!)

The staff is rude without any sense of Authenticity and Hospitality! "Fake politeness... fake smiles... I recommend to avoid that place, even though that the breakfast was pretty good. A place that I will never like to visit again.

Always a great meal and service here. Have been eating here for 30 years and it's only got better in that time. Our go to place for a meal out.

We were a few friends (18) having a Christmas meal. The staff were all very attentive and helpful. The food was really tasty and generous sized helpings. We all had a very good time and we enjoyed our meal together I would highly recommend this hotel’s restaurant.

We stayed in this hotel on our wedding night in October. The staff were lovely and made our room extra special with fizz and flowers. They were really acommodating about us arriving late at night, and all asked about our wedding day. The room was beautiful, and very clean! Would really recommend. Thank you, Beth and Nick :)

Called in for a meal on way home from a Norwich shopping trip. Lovely to have the choice of small plates. Food was delicious and service top notch.

Visited with friends for breakfast. Stated gluten free on booking and was pleased to see the breakfast menu marked up with "gfa" on some of the menus limited optionns, so ordered a full English to be told that the sausages, fried bread and hashbrowns however all weren't gluten free and was offered no substitute or option to have gluten free bread. So my full English was egg, mushroom, beans and bacon. Very annoying and disappointing. What establishment doesn't even keep gluten free bread in the freezer to offer guests and since when have hash browns not been gluten free! The only gf option for the continental breakfast was watermelon, again no toast or cereal options. Atmosphere was lovely and staff were friendly but overall very disappointing if you are gluten free.

Stayed in a Shepherds hut for one night. Brilliant stay, extremely peaceful and relaxing. Wood fired hot tub was amazing. Meal at the pub for dinner was excellent and breakfast was very good the next morning. We did have some flies in our hut which was frustrating as they kept appearing. Hopefully once the gap in the hut is identified it can easily be fixed. This didn't put us off as the entire stay was lovely. Highly recommend this place and hope to be back in the future.

Superb eatery located at the crossroads of the A140 and Workhouse Road, near Thornham Magna. Always a good menu of delicious food and wide choice of drinks. Large upstairs function room available for larger groups. A very popular dining venue so always best to book in advance.

Popped in for Sunday lunch and it was superb. Crab pate with curry spices had just the right amount of spice, as did the mustard mashed potato with the liver and bacon main. Great tastes with fast and very friendly service

The White Horse is located on the A140 with easy access and plenty of parking. The food we ordered was affordable, a good choice of food, and good service from all. This is my 3rd Visit this year, but I didn't use the accommodation so I can't comment on this part.

Food was good. But as soon as meal was over the bill was presented and we still had drinks to finish. Service was very quick but you got the feeling they wanted you in and out quickly

Typical village gastro pub with character. Wine was excellent - one blush and a pino grigio. Fish and chips good. The vegan option very good, a curry like tangerine. Plenty of paking.

Excellent menu, always good service and all the new staff are being taught well. Tables cleared and wiped quickly. Friendly staff. Never had a bad meal or service there.

We had a lovely Sunday roast. The pub is stylish and comfortable and the staff were excellent. Good choice of food including vegetarian and vegan. Everything clearly labelled on the menu. Would definitely go back.

Loved the chalet style rooms with Aircon, it was 34 Deg C outside. A good range of food in the restaurant, from chicken nuggets to fillet steak. Soft drinks, Adams and Green King Abbots Beers or Moët Chandon Champagne. Very helpful staff, particularly Kelly who sourced us a bottle of Dom Peringnon to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

We stayed in the most beautiful shephards hut ..It was so clean and had everything you would need in there too . It had a wood fired hottub and seating area with a firepit ! ..All in a private lil garden looking out to beautiful wild flowers and fields .we also had dinner and breakfast, the food was amazing and so delicious. Sitting outside in the hottub while watching the nightsky was just amazing and so peaceful. All of the staff were so helpful and accommodating nothing was too much effort ..This place is a real lil gem 💎... we can't wait to come back!!

We are fairly regular customers. Just visited on a very busy Saturday evening where the service wasn’t at the usual standard and our mains (steaks) were missing the side salad and sauces we ordered (these were brought out shortly after). Upon completion of the main course, the manager visited our table and apologised for the inconvenience and very kindly compensated us with a voucher for a substantial amount which we deducted from the bill. The food was exceptional quality and the desserts were amazing. The place prides itself on quality service and food and even when they fell short slightly, they went above and beyond for us as customers to ensure we were looked after. Couldn’t recommend more. Thank you for a lovely evening and we look foward to visiting again soon!

Lovely room great food and service all for a good price

I went with my daughter's for a special evening together. Upstairs was very cold, they were very busy actually over booked and under staffed. The service was slow we gave up on a drink at the end of our meal. So disappointing. No I will not go again the food was ok but the evening was spoilt because of the slow poor service.

Excellent place food outstanding

Lovely roast dinner on Easter Sunday. We had the turkey roast and it was tasty and hot. The staff were very friendly and attentive, coming back to see if we wanted any extra drinks, sauces and gravy etc. Would recommend and visit again

Absolutely amazing! Value for money was incredible, spent the weekend with my partner in a Shepard's hut and no expense was spared in the making and upkeep of the huts, we had our own private wood fired hot tub and a fire pit. We ate at the pub and the food was 5 star and very well priced. Would definitely stay again and recommend to everyone.

First time back for a good while. Really good service, food delicious and servers attentive. Ginger pudding was so light and tasty. Lovely wood burner alight. Very busy but much improved. Been decorated too and looking smart but welcoming. Very full up. Lovely evening.

We stopped for lunch en route so had no expectations. We cannot comment on the rooms, but the pub is really well decorated, spacious and friendly with a great menu. Portions are in the larger side and reasonably priced. The staff were helpful and efficient. We really enjoyed our meal and would certainly stop again next time we are pasing.

Great service and everywhere very clean and smart Pre-booked for 12 30 and shown to well positioned comfortable table. Ordered red mullet and bubble & squeak with mash, kale and capers served on a butter type sauce. Steak and ale pie with cups and peas with a jug of gravey. Two prawn baked bagettes with a nice side salad. Everyone was happy with the service and all of the food. Very friendly pleasant staff, attentive and smiling. Very enjoyable have been before and keep returning for special occasions. It was our mum's 91st birthday this time, and the staff sang her happy birthday. Recommended.

This is a lovely place to stay for a short break. The rooms are spacious and spotless, the pub/restaurant is excellent with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. There are also shepherd huts with hot tubs if you feel little more adventurous.

We stopped off here, for brekkie, on our way to North Norfolk for our Christmas 🎄🎄 weekend extravaganza. The service was lovely and the breakfast was very good. Despite being on the main A140 it is quiet and atmospheric. I recommend a stop off for a meal of your choice.
