River Green Cafe & Deli in Mid Suffolk

The River Green Cafe is an absolute delight and we're in regularly! Today was a quick sandwich, delicious high quality ingredients, fast and friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere, extremely good value. What more could you want!

Slow service , coffee nothing special. The Victorian Decor was nice. Owner not that friendly sorry to say. But prices were reasonable

Really enjoyed the mozzarella and sun dried tomato sandwich. Very tasty food and friendly service too. Well worth a visit.

Young staff were lovely. Lady made me feel unwelcome when I asked for dairy free. No cakes for dairy free only gluten free. Very dismissive of me. Won't be going again.

We drove from Stonham Barms and arrived at 2.55pm. I popped my head in and asked if they were still open as the place was empty and a young waitress sweeping up. I got told, rather abruptly, 'we close at 4!'...by the tall older gentleman? I looked at my watch, a good hour before they close then...but was made to feel un-welcome I didnt bother. Shame as my ex army disabled hubby was sat in the car parched... Having worked in retail & hospitality for years that is NOT how you greet a potential new customer. Wont be back....

Lovely cafe in an out of the way village.

Popped here for a late lunch as I was house hunting in the area and was in need of good coffee. Found this little gem as i was exploring. Coffee was lovely and strong and the homemade soup of the day (tomato, red pepper & lentil) was superb. Piping hot, very tasty and a nice doorstep wedge of granary to dunk. Its so nice to find these little independent cafes that dont drown everything in butter, cream and cheese! I'm looking to return for breakfast and hoping it's as fresh & tasty.

Visited for afternoon tea. Really just an ok sort of place. Everything average, service, average, atmosphere average. Prices above average.

Very disappointed today, as we came all the way from Felixstowe after checking on the website that you would open, but on arrival the note on the door said closed for staff holiday. Please make sure you put a note on the website next time as we had come nearly 30 miles.

Another little gem tucked away in the corner of the Suffolk countryside. Avoid a plastic national coffee chain store and try these guys instead.

Friendly service, good tea but breakfast over priced. Paid £6 for scrambled eggs on toast, but £5:00 extra for 2 rashers of bacon! More expensive than a full breakfast. Unclear pricing and when challenged first told we are busy. then about price of their fuel bills. Disappointing as have visited many times but not for breakfast.

I have been to Rivergreen Cafe many times. The food had always been great and staff were friendly and welcoming. HOWEVER, the last two visits have been extremely disappointing!! I was initially ignored by staff and when they did ‘notice’ a customer waiting, there was no smile and we as a group of early 20s felt we weren’t welcome and our money wasn’t good enough! On another visit, I arrived 20mins before lunch time and got a menu and sat down. The manager came over to my table and abruptly snatched the menu and told me ‘it’s not lunch time yet and this is the staffs menu’ before walking away. Then a man can over and said the same so I said it wasn’t a problem at all, I would have a pot of tea while I wait the 20mins. 45minutes after the lunchtime started… I still sat there nursing the cold pot of tea and was not once asked for my order or acknowledged by the man or manager so I left! Sad to say it but it isn’t how it used to be. Could cut the atmosphere with a knife, some staff look miserable and how they speak/treat their customers is unacceptable 😞

Unfortunately we had a disappointing visit at the weekend. With the male waiter raising his eye brows when asked we asked if our eggs could be cooked hard and not runny, then eye brows were raised if beans could be very hot. He came across very unfriendly, I just wanted to leave. It wasn't busy so obviously got out the bed the wrong side. Portion sizes were small for the price. Nearly £20 for scrambled egg and salmon on toast. Beans and egg on toast and a pot of tea.

The best Quiche I have had for a long time and the Carrot cake is to die for!

The best cafe I have ever visited. The service was impeccable (and extremely tolerant of our big and rather unwieldy group of adults and teens). The food is DELICIOUS. The menu was fantastic and the specials were very special. The options we asked for that weren't on the menu were all met with a smile and an, "Of course!" We went two days running and were only disappointed because we hadn't been every day of our holiday and weren't able to take the café home with us. If you fancy a nice breakfast or lunch, a toastie or a salad, you should check it out!

Called in on spec for a late lunch, and enjoyed a splendid salad and goats’ cheese tart. Service is friendly, and the coffee was also great. Recommended.

The most wonderful traditional cafe in lovely historic surroundings. Good quality ingredients used for lovely tasty breakfasts. I recommend highly. We travel many miles to eat here.

We’ve been here twice during our stay in Debenham and the food and service was amazing on both occasions! Peggy 🐾 was very welcome inside making lunch a far more relaxed time!

First time visit yesterday and we will be back, we had the cheese scones which they served warm with plenty of butter then we had a slice of the bakewell tart also warmed up with clotted cream, very nice indeed, staff was very friendly too

My Bakewell Tart was indeed a slice of perfection. My brother had salmon & scrambled eggs and he said that was pretty good also. Friendly staff & a good cuppa.

Met one of my best university friends at River Green Cafe, as it was approx equidistant between Norwich & Clacton on Sea. We hadn't seen each other for 8 years. We had never been to Debenham before, so took a chance on the venue. It was just what we needed. We sat in the cafe all day drinking tea, had a lovely toasted sandwich/ salad lunch, chased down with scones & more tea. All food was homemade & really good. The proprietors were lovely & very welcoming & accommodating with our table-hogging. We plan to meet up again at River Green Cafe in the summer. Lovely cafe.

Found this lovely friendly cafe in the pretty village of Debenham, Suffolk. As a Coeliac, what a joy to not only see that they had gluten free options, but virtually the whole menu could be made gluten-free, including all the sandwiches. I had the warm goat cheese salad and my friend had a normal toasted chorizo and sun blush sandwich. Good range of teas and coffees. Very clean with friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely go back there again whenever in the area.

First time visit, 10/10 customer service. Lady was very welcoming. A very impressive range of products to choose from. Food tastes great. Really nice decor.

Went for brunch with a friend, we both had the poached eggs and avocado on granary. Well worth it it is always busy and I can see why. I would advise to ring ahead if you want to be seated quickly.

This cafe looked appealing, with charming decor and a deli counter. However the service was slow, and the bacon sandwiches extremely mean. The coffee was good.

Great coffee and cake - a ginger cake that really tastes of ginger. Will definitely visit again. Update 1: did visit again, this time for breakfast. Excellent sausage sandwich and poached eggs on toast. Sublime coffee. Update 2: visited as part of a group of 12 cyclists. Able to accommodate us, but we'll book ahead next time. Service was exceptionally prompt for such a large group. Scones, bacon sandwiches, sausage rolls and numerous cakes were consumed. All were superb. Cannot fault this cafe.

Came in close to closing time on a Saturday afternoon, but was made to feel very welcome. Just had a pot of tea and a cheese scone, bit will return to try out some more of the menu.

Very disappointed poor service very poor lunch selection food served not good coleslaw slimy made a good while previously pie high crust hardly any filling ! Salad on the whole boring . Re service only 8 people in the cafe didn't think staff eating their lunch along side guests in cafe appropriate FHB good term in catering ! Lady who took payment brusque verging on rude sad because lot of potential with right people in charge

Lovely but small Café. The food is amazing and I highly recommend the hot chocolate, just look at that stick of chocolate melt into your drink.

Turned up adhoc with a group of 8 of us, we wasn't given the warmest of welcomes because we didn't pre book even though there was space in the cafe for us with room to spare. That apart, the food was well presented and very nice and the cafe is situated just off the main road though the village, a very pleasant location and well worth a visit (as long as you don't come in a group)

My sister and I took a divert (wrong turn) on our way back from Latitude festival on Monday. Was the best navigational mistake we could have made. Stumbled across this gorgeous cafe in Debenham. A lovely decorated cafe and a friendly team welcomed us to our table where we were served the most amazing full English breakfast. Never had one that tasted this good! And given our taste buds had been on a journey of the senses at the festival, it had competition. Can’t recommend this place enough! And when my sister and I return to the festival next year, we will make a divert (wrong turn) here again. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

What a beautiful cafe/shop. The food looks and tastes amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Its very clean and tidy. Lots of freshly made treats and snack food as well as local products

River Green is one of our favourite stops for breakfast or lunch at any time of the year. Hot chocolate after a Winter dog walk or an amazing cheese on toast using Suffolk Gold local cheese. Seating outside and dog friendly plus a deli for cakes to take home.

Great little find ! Delicious cakes and coffee with super friendly staff who were very good with the dog ! Parking in free car park right outside. Lovely village to walk around too - only regret not buying from the deli although we did buy the local apple juice 😋

The best place for locally sourced produce! Friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend. The Sausage rolls and Brownies are a must have. Delicious!! Will be visiting again soon!

The restaurant is cozy and warm, but not crowded. The menu has many interesting options. I went there for breakfast with my Mum, and we both ordered the full breakfast, minus the baked beans. My Mum had a cappuccino and I had an Americano. The coffee was delicious. Our breakfasts took a while but were well worth the wait. The breakfast consisted of a fried egg, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash brown and black pudding. The portions were generous and everything was cooked perfectly. We also had wholewheat toast, which was very tasty. All in all, it was a positive experience, and we're planning to go back to try the desserts.

An unhurried, relaxing experience with lovely food. The cheese scones had a perfect texture and the carrot cake was the best I've ever tasted.

My wife and I only popped into the cafe for a quick pot of tea for two to refresh ourselves after a pleasant walk around the town We found the cafe offered a selection of different teas on their menu to accompany a selection of cakes which appeared to be home made. A more plentify plate could be provide by the " brunch style" menu .With only 6 or 7 tables it's easy imagin the cafe being full more often than not. A selection of Suffolk made food produce of repute is available to purchase next to door

Our Vet is in Debenham so after our appointment we stopped here for lunch. Service was okay, the food was better! There's a little shop towards the rear of the cafe selling a good selection of food and drink items. All in all a satisfying...

We have now stopped at this venue twice. On the first occasion, the food was very good but the staff were rude and unwelcoming. I thought that maybe my evaluation of them was unfair so I returned and the staff and attitude were a million...

Love this wonderful cafe, great coffee and cake stop for cyclists. Can't wait to be able to take my wife back for lunch after May 17th. Lovely staff alway friendly.
