What a fantastic Sunday lunch ,it was fresh lots of meat and roast potatoes which I love and for once hot , service was great , thank you chef ,kitchen staff, and front of house staff 👍

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was great, and the wooden connect 4 located on each table was an adorable touch. I’d highly recommend.

We booked in advance for a table of 10 for Sunday lunch. We pre ordered our main meals as requested. From the moment we arrived to the time we left the service was perfect. 10 meals all delivered promptly and the service was faultless throughout. The complimentary cauliflower cheese with the roast is a lovely touch. Just one bit of feedback …. The butter knives are not quite suitable to cut through meat. Thank you for a fantastic experience. Would never hesitate to visit again

Our family of four and our 3 friends visited here recently. This pub is quite small but very clean. Our friends went for a starter and a main and their starters looked fantastic. We went straight into our mains and were treated to a fantastic Sunday roast. I had roast beef and it was so tasty. After this we had a fantastic crumble to finish our meal. This pub had an excellent drinks selection. All in all a fantastic meal and we would definitely return

Delightful authetic coutry pub feel with fantastic food drink and service. Very accommodating and friendly. We could ask for no better, thank you.

The whole experience was ok. We did expect a higher quality of food given the prices e.g. rib eye steak had a lot of gristle, not what you expect for £20. We probably wouldn't return.

Stopped in on a whim whilst passing further afield. We arrived 15mins after lunchtime opening and it was already filling up - clearly very popular. Food was good, staff very attentive although busy dealing with many people, phone and delivering food to tables. We enjoyed the little connect 4 game on the table whilst waiting for food. Whould definately go again in in the area - booking advised as clearly a busy pub. Dog friendly.

Lovely meal, great gluten free options, decent value for money

My wife and I met some friends here that were holidaying from Sussex and had booked a lunch table; great choice considering none of us had been here before, us living just 30 mins away. We were warmly greeted by a lady who showed us to our table. The staff, two ladies waiting at table plus the chef, all enjoyed humorous quips. The menu is very adequate for choices. The food was very good beiing more than sufficient in both quantity and quality. Considering it was a Tuesday lunchtime the restaurant area was full of diners in a lovely clean ye olde world pub-restaurant that we would happily visit again. If I had one recommendation perhaps they could consider including iced coffee and/or latte on their drinks menu.

Great food and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend! Got to try the biscoff cheesecake if it’s available, it’s delicious!!

Nice small pub restaurant with a decent out door front decking and outdoor back garden option. Inside is rustic and full of character. Staff were lovely and accomodating. The food was out of this world. Definitely found out go to location for either full meals or lite bites.

A rude and hostile greeting from behind the bar. Not a single table occupied but we were told in no uncertain terms that it was fully booked. 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon, it look more like an empty pub. Maybe they didn't like the motorcycle helmets. Thanks to review sites the consumer can now bite back.

Our group of 5 enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch with a variety of choices. The Sunday roast was plentiful and delicious! My son said that the chicken burger was one of the best he’d ever had….praise indeed. The staff were attentive, checking that we had everything we needed. We will return.

Attractive newly thatched and well maintained pub. Plenty of parking. Friendly attentive staff, good range of standard pub grub type of food. Several Vegetarian choices available. Good range of draught beers and ciders including Aspells cider. Indoor and outdoor seating available, lots of tables and umbrellas outside. Service was good, food served after short wait. We had 6 in our family group, all wanting different meals with side orders, so the staff did well bringing it all together.

Lovely roast apart from the gravy wasn't homemade. A shame about all the flies too, perhaps fly traps or citronella candles should be implemented?

Not suitable for dietary or diabetics. Staff couldn't find dietary information. Chef came out and gave options. Had to guess carbohydrates information as couldnt find it......this is a legal requirement for the size of Greene King chain. Gave son injections to allow for dessert but then told diary free icecream wasn't. Children's menu option for ham egg and chips came out with mustard over the ham when not mentioned on menu.

Booking made by phone for following day and very friendly, helpful and cheerful lady arranged for wheelchair table. Had to change time next day and no problem. Excellent meal, starter, main and dessert. Very good friendly and efficient service and attention during all time we were there. Will be returning .

Very nice atmosphere and good food snd service

Had a really good meal there Tues July 2. Great friendly and efficient service. My wife had lasagne and I went for 3 starters instead of usual main. Great choice. Also good pint of tribute ale. Sometimes find the restaurant a bit too noisy. But always good value meals and nice to sit outside weather permitting. Will be back soon. Cheers 🥂

Stopped for a quick lunch great food lovely little pub.

From welcome to leaving, it was a pleasure to eat at this wonderful pub / restaurant. The Shepherd and Dog is on the edge of Stowmarket and technically it is in Onehouse, it feels very rural. Parking is limited, but you can park on the road. The staff were simply brilliant, and the food was divine. The menu has enough choice and variety to suit most. I'm certain we will be back soon

A very nice and welcoming, honest pub. Has a kids play park, sells good beer and great food. Seasonal menu which is nice and has nice amount of outdoor space. Parking is a bit difficult at busy times!

We had a ribeye steak each and they were fabulous. They were fully booked, but as we had arrived after a long journey, we were fitted in. Staff were so nice and accommodating too. Many thanks indeed.

Well above average pub menu with decent variety of choices.. High quality food, presented really well. A party of three for lunch ,service was very efficient & pleasant. Good selection of ales to satisfy most thirsts, The wine list looked inviting,so saving that for next time. Good amount of parking at the back , and the lunchtime atmosphere was nicely relaxed .

The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly not a big pub so suggest to book a table.

Everything to like for the money you can't go wrong

Very friendly staff, nice ambience, and great to see some proper real ales on draught, too. Food was excellent, I had the special of the day, chicken and mushroom pie and veg. The pie was the best I’ve ever eaten, and the veg was cooked perfectly, just right. My wife had the gammon, egg and chips, and was also very happy, because the gammon wasn’t too salty, and the chips were perfect. Two delicious desserts, Elton mess and Chocolate brownie sundae finished of a very pleasant evening. Will definitely return when we are in the area,

Nice quaint little pub just had the thatch roof put on. It's beautiful but the outside seating area is all warped and the decking is all bowed and the picnic tables are wobbly but the drink was okay. The food looked really nice. It's more of a foodie pub. No we're really nice to sit inside unless you're eating. Of course no lounge. Just everywhere with tables. Little bit of a bar but it's very quaint. The bar staff are really lovely, very polite. It's a shame there's no atmosphere though. Toilets are clean. Hand soap baby changing area well set out overall an 8 out of 10 and one other thing, the car park is very uneven. Lot of trip hazards as it's so uneven

One of the best Sunday roast we had out 9 of us booked and couldn't fault any thing, will definitely be going back

Amazing food, lovely people, lovely atmosphere.

I went for a work meal. This pretty pub was very busy. It looks like the perfect place to have a quick half after work or a filling meal with the family. Staff attentive, fitted with sense of humour which made the evening pleasant.

Food very average for the price. Not recommended. We won't eat there again.

New in the area, we happened on this delightful restaurant, undergoing a re-thatch. Despite all that going on, we were welcomed and well fed.

First time I've been there, it was a wake. The food was delicious and fresh, tea provided too, many bought drinks at the bar. I'd definitely like to go there again for a meal. It's such a nice place with outside seating for warmer weather.

Excellent food and service, my only comment is that it's difficult to find a quiet corner, it's very busy and therefore the noise volume can be difficult to deal with

Food always very tasty here. Good menu with lots of choice and large portions. Our car broke down in the car park and the staff couldn’t do enough to try and help us. Thank you!

Went for lunch on a Thursday. The place was very busy even though it was gone 1:30pm Service was fine, perhaps a bit too quick as our friends scampi and chips came out within 2 or 3 mins , however 'our' food was average. Two of us are vegetarian, the baked potato was fine however the other vegetarian options were (as has happened with many pubs since covid) limited, and the main choices tending to be vegan (with the idea this would suit both vegetarians and vegans which I can confirm is not the case). I had the vegan burger and to be honest it was pretty awful. A mush of what appeared to be avocado and something else green. Given that a burger will no doubt be a frozen premade item that they cook it would not hurt to keep some vegetarian ones in their freezer as well making their choices a bit more varied. To balance this our friend said the scampi and chips were fine but he did leave the peas as they were hard. Overall, the atmosphere of the pub was quite good and the staff were very friendly. Price is as you would expect, a lot more than they used to be.

Had a lovely lunch here in Nov 2023. The food was great and there was a good variety on the menu. We had a two course meal with a drink for about £25 per person. The beer battered fish and chips were devine. Dogs are allowed in the bar area but not the restaurant area.

Called last minute to get a table for dinner as had family over. Got a table booked with no problems. Quick and friendly service with some great food. The connect 4 game on the tables is such a good idea (from the person who won 4 games in a row). Seems to be a popular venue! If you like traditional pubs and good grub, I would recommend.

The food is really good here. We arrived just before the kitchen closed after a long journey and were fitted in and looked after really well. We came back for the second night of our stay and the food didn't disappoint. Good quality and value. Everything we picked was delicious. We booked the second night. It was very busy on the first night which was a random winter's Tuesday evening. We took it as a good sign that it was popular. We weren't let down.

Had another lovely meal yesterday, Sunday roast was amazing, enjoyed by all. Thanks to everyone who made our day enjoyable

Brilliant roast dinner, wanted 3 meats but they had run out of beef, but the pork and chicken was lovely...just dropped one star as it was a little dry...but the rest was lovely.

Lovely friendly little pub, food was great with quick service despite being really busy when we visited. Definitely need to book at the weekends if you want a table indoors. Garden is a lovely little suntrap too.

Really lovely to sit outside here, it's a very pleasant spot. Food is amazing and service spot on. The only reason for 4 * is that I couldn't see any disabled parking spots and it was quite a struggle to get from the car park to the outside dining area... maybe there are some but we're already taken, in which case mentally upgrade to 5* 😁

Visited with friends again excellent service and food staff were friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble,Food came within a few minutes after ordering. Only problem a table full of loud noisy people and a baby,noticed two ladies left a table near us due to noise. Apart from that excellent food,will visit again.

Despite there being loads of bikers there at lunchtime, we still got our preordered food without too long a wait.

Very friendly service, as usual. I am a bit of a foodie and have eaten in many restaurants, in 23 countries in my 58 years on this earth. But the mushrooms in Stilton and garlic sauce were one of the best starters I have ever tasted.

Good food in a lovely country pub

The staff were very friendly and accommodating moving us from an inside table to an outside one when we asked. Food served fresh and plentiful, a very nice experience.

Came for lunch here as needed somewhere dog friendly and we sat outside as weather was sunny. There's a footpath off from the garden which meant Bob our greyhound could have a good walk after the hour drive to get there. Food was great as was the service. My son is vegan and they only have a vegan burger on menu, fortunately he really enjoyed it. Plenty of seating outside aswell as children's play area.

Eaten here numerous times but today service fell short of what we have experienced in the past. We were not asked if everything was alright or if we would like another drink until they came to collect our plates.

Couple of drinks and some chips, out the front, it's a really nice place but it's losing a star as we feel it's a little bit too...city pub in execution rather than country pub, by which I mean decor, menu and 'vibe'. Nothing wrong at all with that but considering the setting and the building itself, we would rather a little more history for our local or perhaps a better balance.

Was lovely, food was delicious & served quickly even though they were very busy. I had a prawn baguette which was large & packed with prawns - would definitely recommend 😋 My friend had a mushroom risotto which looked equally as good, nice bowl full and very tasty she said.

Parking is generally an issue and the parking area is tight but once parked the restaurant area and service is well managed. Generally busy so booking recommended essential at weekends. Friendly staff and good varied food with daily specials. Great roasts on Sunday. Would recommend for family or friends eating.

The meal I had which was Liver and bacon casserole with vegetables was out standing and then a Bounty cheese cake was lush 😋. Every thing was perfect the lovely staff and service we got. Oh my husband had fish and chips which was cooked to his perfection.
