Visited on a Saturday, nice atmosphere and pizzas were very good. Limited menu but something for everyone. Only negative comment would be that the menu is written on a blackboard on a wall which has a table in front of it so if customers are seated there it’s very hard and awkward to read.

My wife and I travelled to Suffolk last month for the very first time. Our trip was off to a rocky start when our hotel informed us they were not serving food or opening their bar on the night of our arrival. We decided to walk down to The Greyhound to try their wood - fired Pizzas. We were welcomed by a charming young woman who regretfully informed us that her kitchen was also closed that evening. She gave us a menu for a local takeaway, sat us down in a cosy restaurant and poured our drinks. My wife went to get our food and the young landlady neatly laid our table and lit a candle for us. After our meal we moved into the bar area which was packed to the rafters with smiling faces. The young woman was clearly rushed off her feet but was smiling and laughing with her customers all night long. Our visit to the Greyhound was one of the highlights of our trip to Suffolk, the sense of community was heart-warming and we felt part of it although we were strangers.

We moved to the area late last year and have since had many takeaway and eat in Pizzas. The quality of the woodfired pizza is fantastic and although I'm not particularly a pizza fan I just can't resist eating them; especially the quattro 4 cheese pizza. It's not just the food we love. The pub is so friendly and has an amazing atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly and the owner, Chris even runs cycling evenings during the summer months on a Wednesday. These are great fun and then it's back to the pub for pizza and drinks. The Greyhound is a great village pub with great ales on tap. It's very clean and tastefully decorated and well worth a visit. Everything is very reasonably priced too.

Been popping in here for a few years now and the food and beer is always excellent! Absolutely love the place, it has a nice old fashioned homely feel to the bar side to have a beer or five Definitely try and book in on a Tuesday as they do a free margarita when you buy another pizza so it's the best day to give it a go!

So lucky to have this pub so near us. We tend to do takeaway pizza on a Tuesday as it’s two-for-one. They never disappoint and have such a huge range of toppings available. Their olives are the best. The chips are probably the best chips I’ve ever eaten, no idea what they do to them but they’re fab! Very covid secure too which is really important at the moment. Keep up the good work guys.

A lovely friendly welcome. We were so pleased, as a family, to get out for some lovely dinner and feeling safe while doing so with the measures they have in place during these odd times. I would just like to highlight this local pub restaurant that has been forced into Covid measures and come out fighting. We visited tonight with our children, wearing face masks to enter. Greeted and shown to our table and explained the one way system. Their service was so friendly and welcoming we were made to feel completely at ease and enjoyed their superb pizzas (taking home what my children didn’t manage to finish....eyes bigger then and all that!). I urge anyone to support this amazing village pub and thank them for their adaption and ability to keep going.

I love the pizzas in the Greyhound and I've had many takeaways over the recent month with my partner. My orders usually come to around £30 for two pizzas and as soon as I'd reached 6 orders I was looking forward to 10% off. However this is not to be...only on orders over £50. I find this really mean as it only open to certain groups. Another issue I have is that I've ordered twice over the last 2 months and had my orders cancelled. The App need an update to only show availability for collection. One more gripe is that sometimes they don't cover all of the pizza and once they forgot to put olives on.

This is our local pub and we were keen to get back for a visit after Lockdown. Feeling rather cautious and a little anxious after being shielded for five months I was not keen on the idea of being around lots of other people but we booked a table in the restaurant for a pizza dinner. I need not have been anxious at all, the pub have rearranged all the tables to make sure there is lots of space. Table service means you can stay seated and need not go near others. The bar has been rearranged to make sure they are covid secure and I felt very relaxed. As always a great pizza prepared and cooked by Chris and Jack then served with a smile by Hannah. Our local pub has been very sadly missed due to Covid 19. Chris has restarted his home made pizzas, fired in the pizza oven which has been lovingly built by himself. The Greyhound pizzas are simply the best, delicious and you can order on line, very easy to do, you can even build your own from the extensive menu. You are given a time for collection and they can deliver on Wednesdays. I placed an order, collected them at the alloted time and was not disappointed, they are delicious. We ordered using the app for the first time yesterday and it worked like a dream. The delivery was great, social distancing observed. The pizzas were excellent, the best we have had in a very long time. This is our local pub and we love it. Friendly staff, great Pizza and a good selection of gins, including a house gin. Like all pubs the Greyhound had to close during the Covid -19 lockdown. But at the beginning of June they started a Pizza delivery and collection service via a phone app. We used it on the first night they were running this service and it worked a dream. We ordered the pizza we wanted, were able to leave a note about my fussy partners dislike of cheese and were given an estimated time for collection. Payment is taken via the app (you can save your card for future use) which means you don't have to wait to pay or handle cash. We then received a text to give us un updated (sooner time) which was great. Off we popped to the pub and the pizza was ready when we arrived. I would highly recommend the Greyhound Pizza's, they are truly (and I don't say this lightly) the best Pizza's. The app is a great new addition to their service. It was easy to use, and allows for all the options including gluten-free and vegan. What's more you can order sides and drinks to go with your pizza! Well done to the staff.

Ordered pizzas, through the mobile app. Absolutely fantastic easy to navigate around the app, finding menu and the variants on there. Was so easy to sign up and place order and pay. We also got a rough estimate of how long it would take to deliver and then a confirmation delivery time via email. All very prompt and well set out. When the food came it was hot, smelt amazing, and tasted even better. You didn't get the over greasy taste like you do most take away pizzas.. The ingredients were amazing there was so much flavour. I didn't feel all groggy after eating the pizza like I do other take aways. The young man who delivered the food was friendly and polite. All in all I will definitely order again through the app. And look forward to being able to physically visit in person. Thank you so much to all x

My wife and I moved to Botesdale 18 months ago. Whilst we were viewing houses in the area we checked out the local facilities, pubs, shops etc. As soon as we viewed our house and visited The Greyhound (and The Bell in Rickenhall obviously !) we realised we could stop looking. The staff are professional friendly and very helpful, the food menu is basic but the pizzas and steaks are to die for. Sunday lunchtime hot pulled pork rolls are added to the menu, these are a perfect antidote to the bleak spring weather ! Live bands perform in the bar most Friday nights to a packed crowd. We have been made very welcome by the regulars and now feel part of a thriving community. We cannot recommend the place enough.

We have eaten here before and I felt the service and pizzas were faultless. But, on this occasion the chef needed to be in second gear... We ordered and were told to expect a 20 minute wait as there had been a rush before us. This felt fair enough for a Saturday night. After 45 minutes of waiting I had a word. We were given an apology and the offer of more drinks, which we declined because we didn't want them, but there was no mention if these were to be on the house or not. We received our pizzas 55 minutes after ordering, with another apology. I understand that delays happen, but I feel this should have been managed differently. Either a barmaid (of which there seemed to be 3) could have been dispatched to assist in the kitchen where there was just one, very relaxed, chef. Or, a policy of after 25 minutes waiting the customer gets free drinks, after 45 minutes, a free pizza. There seemed to be no such plan.

Lovely village pub, with welcoming staff and fires burning in the bar and dining room. Enjoyed a game of pool and a couple of pints of Wherry. Food is standard pub fare, mainly based on burgers, would be nice to have a bit more variety, like fish dishes. Great pub atmosphere for drinks but not a foody pub.

To our horror we arrived on Wednesday, burger night! We hate burgers! We chose off the boards and waited and waited and waited in the cold, rather gloomy dining room, which was less than 1/3 full. Why the long wait? Our food, when it eventually arrived wasn't particularly good. My pork dish was over cooked and quite tasteless. We were too cold to stay long.

Ate here based on their excellent burgers we’d read about but they did not live up to expectation. One mark we knocked off for the exceptional wait in a virtually empty restaurant and the score dropped further because the burgers were pretty dry when they did arrive and then a further point was deducted because the brioche bun was just a floury bap. However, the onion rings were especially crispy so that got the overall grade back up to average.

The Greyhound had been chosen by my friend to hold her father's funeral wake and she was very particular about not having small frozen sausage rolls! The spread was excellent! Fresh door step sandwiches with either salmon, egg or ham and cheese filling, huge homemade sausage rolls and pork pies, delicious home made cheese straws, cheese and biscuits, hummus and chutney - perfect - with endless cups of tea or coffee and bottled water! My only criticism is that they should have had cups and saucers out ready and made pots of tea and instant coffee as it was a slow process serving 50 people individual cups from a coffee machine! And a knife each would have been appreciated for the cheese and biscuits but the actual food was faultless, thank you!

Interesting burgers especially when half-price on a Wednesday, fantastic chips, a choice of guest ales as well as the standards, customers of all age-groups socialising happily, packed at weekends and on live-music nights, and a pleasant cluster of middle-aged philosophers passing the quieter nights in earnest conversation at the bar. And easy chairs and a well-stocked bookcase provide for even the most misanthropic of pub-goers. What more could you want?

This pub has such great potential - nice atmosphere, albeit quiet in the dining room. But it is let down by the inconsistent standard of the food. This was our second visit. The first visit a few months ago where we had a poor, over-fatty burger and odd-tasting fries (limp and fatty) and this in a place that purports to specialize in burgers. We decided to give it another chance, this time with family. Two of the mains were OK. But the chef really needs to re-think the recipe for fries - same as before - awful. And there are any number of non-Italian restaurants that can produce a nice lasagna, a skill that seems to have eluded the Greyhound. Minced beef, a bit of pasta and a slab of melted cheese. Genuinely terrible. Avoid this dish at all costs. I used to live in the USA and get into trouble from my family for a habit of over-tipping everywhere I go. Not this time. Service was barely passable, but a 45 minute wait for poorly cooked food and no acknowledgement of our comments about the lasagna is not good service. Believe me that was reflected in the tip. Sorry. Things can go wrong and I think that a restaurant should never be judged on a single visit. But we've now given the benefit of the doubt and are firmly in the category of 'former customers'. What a genuine shame.

Whenever I come back to Suffolk the first thing I do is go to the Greyhound! And equally whenever I have visitors from abroad I have to bring them here. Such a nice pub with an excellent manager, good staff, lovely food and, most importantly, fantastic beer. They say that in Britain a pub is like a community living room, I don't think any pub is better proof of this than the 'hound!

this pub is so nice, its made up of all odds and bobs of furniture, big open fire, photos on the walls, its full of atmosphere. Always has local real ales, the burger night is really good and always busy so book in advance, the manager is really good at his job and makes all welcome. It has acosy village pub feel but definatly not the boring playing dominoes type of village pub !!!

Have eaten here many times but the quality of the cooking and presentation has slipped considerably of late. The manager was very attentive and polite as usual but the waitress failed to 'work the room'. We were not asked if we wanted coffee or desserts and the service was incredibly slow and not at all friendly even though they were not at all busy. We would have ordered more food and wine if we could have got her attention. When we eventually got a coffee it was in cups with no saucers. The sugar was just put on a plate with some spoons. Such a shame.

After so many disappointments with Suffolk dining out, I did a 5 miles radius search of where we live for a high percentage rating for positive feedback and found this fantastic place. We went before I joined TA and have been back with friends and family since who were also impressed. It's refreshing to walk in to a local pub here in Suffolk which has such a warm welcome from management and staff alike who are enthusiastic about their product and it shows. The variety of burgers here taste amazing and can highly recommend them. The place has a distinct character which all adds to its rustic charm and we will be back before Xmas to sample the steak.

Well we had read great things about this pub so we decided to try it on our sons birthday, this was on reflection a mistake The feel and layout of the pub is brilliant its relaxed and chilled and serves great beer. For us it stopped there. We must have been there on a bad night two staff front end one was the landlord the other a very inexperienced waitress, she struggled with the order for six people several items weren't available on the menu and this was a Saturday night! The worst part was we waited for 75 minutes to get the food and almost walked out once we got the food it was okay I've had better steaks, the chips were very nice though. It's a real shame that our visit wasn't as good as other people's and I'm not sure weather is would go back there again

10 of us visited The Greyhound to celebrate a friends birthday. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They helped us decorate the table and were more than happy to let us bring a birthday cake along . 6 of us had steak which all arrived perfectly cooked to our requests which when you have 10 orders for one table was amazing! The bar staff were very quick and efficient even though the pub was packed and very knowledgable about the very good selection of ales. This pub has come on leaps and bounds since this young dynamic team has taken it over, We shall certainly be regular customers and would recommend this pub to everyone. Thank you for a wonderful fun filled evening!

I visited the Greyhound with my partner and four teenage kids on a Wednesday evening. I'd booked in advance and I'm glad I did as I don't think we would have got a table . The pub at first glance seems traditional very comfortable and clean but with the addition of the young energetic and very friendly bar staff it has a great atmosphere. The clientele is also diverse which adds to the feel of the place . We had the nachos and chicken wings for starters both very good and a variety of the burgers for our mains which were all excellent. Our main course took a little while to get to us but we were checked on numerous times by all members of staff and when our bill arrived they had removed the charge for our side orders of onion rings and garlic mushrooms which was not necessary but good customer service . The bill itself was a pleasant surprise as it's buy one get one free on burgers on Wednesdays and was excellent value for money for the food and drink we had. This pub and it's staff make a real effort and because of that I had a great night with my family thanks

Lekker eten; burgers waren uitstekend! Jonge maar zeer creatieve chef! Gezellige pub. De inrichting is zeer speciaal, een beetje een allegaartje maar juist daarom zeer cosy, Vriendelijke bediening.
