Very sorry to say our meal was mediocre, which is a shame as I would love to support this community local pub. I felt the menu choices were fairly limited, the only main special was the pie - roast pork and leek, which I thought an odd combo for a pie. I had the chicken burger - the bread was that floppy cheap sort of roll that comes ready cut, the burger was just OK, nothing special. The service was very good however, no complaints there. Maybe we just hit a bad night.

Sunday roast at this lovely country pub. Welcoming atmosphere, stoves/fires lit, brilliant staff, really delicious food. Just a lovely experience which we enjoyed tremendously. The only downside - some elements of the Sunday Roast are costly extra sides. Pigs in blankets is understandable. Cauliflower cheese, maybe.. But paying extra for stuffing was surprising. We were there to celebrate a special occasion so it didn't matter in this instance. But it would affect us being able to afford Sunday lunch here regularly.

We chose to go here because one of our friends is gluten free & she had a good choice of meals. She chose the GF fish & chips and said it was the best she had ever had! I am vegetarian and although there wasn’t a huge choice, what I had (the Mediterranean veg tart) was very nice. The men both chose steak which they thoroughly enjoyed. It’s also good to know that although we didn’t take our dog on this occasion, the pub is dog friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Really good welcome from the staff here - very friendly, particularly the waitress we had who was lovely. Our food was tasty and came in good time, ribs looked amazing, and didnt even fit the plate - huge portion. My only comment might be that the moussaka was too runny, so I asked for some bread to soak it up. But we will return, because it is a lovely pub, with good parking and wonderful staff.

I'm reviewing a lunch visit, but I've enjoyed beer here many times. Visited in summer with an elderly relative who was well looked after. Simple bar snacks - chips, whitebait, etc. Very well made, generously sized. But the big stars of the show are the beer, which is always excellent, well kept and served, with pride and care, and the location, on a pretty East Anglian street, with the front of the pub facing sunwards. There's also a generous garden, with mature trees, and a fun wooden ship for kids a decent distance from the tables. It strikes a good balance between the historic and modern. Worth a journey.

After experiencing this pub today, we realized it probably won’t be here next time we visit. Food took more than an hour, some items were wrong and those that came were tasteless, unseasoned and with frozen vegetables. They put spicy chili sriracha sauce described on the menu as ”red pepper sauce” on a burger which it made it inedible, order 3 IPAs, got 3 stouts. Lamb was tough, with No mint or herbs. Understand why on a friday night it was so empty, next time we also do as everyone else and go to Rickinghall instead. Over £150 for the experience.

Visited on the 15th March for a late Mother’s Day lunch after looking for ages for somewhere different to eat! Came across this pub after scrolling through Google, reading the wonderful reviews and also looking to see the vegetarian options on the menu as one of our party is vegetarian and can be hard to find places that have a nice variety the menu was very inclusive for them too so I was instantly sold! Walked in around 12.30 and was informed to sit wherever we liked and showed where there was more seating, found a beautiful table just by the window with a lovely view of the village! Greeted very quickly by a very attentive staff member who allowed us time to get seated and look at the menu, I asked if there was anything she recommended from the food menu and gave the options I was stuck between, she was very informative and helpful even though she said she hadn’t worked there long it didn’t seem that way! There was a bit of a wait for food but that was to be expected as we were in the early and everything appeared to be homemade! When the food did come out we were amazed at the presentation and even more taken back by the taste! There was clear plates all round which is amazing as I’ve never known one of us to clear a plate completely! After we were finished we were given time to think about desserts which was nice to not feel rushed and give our main meals time to digest, we all decided on a dessert which was brought out in good time and all were amazingly presented and tasted just as good as they looked! Unfortunately I didn’t get the girls name that served our table but she was amazing! Overall we are extremely happy with the experience we had and will definitely be back in the future as well as recommending to friends and family!

Very disappointed with the food. Very tastless, food just chucked on the plate. My father had fish (cod) which was rolled up on the plate which looked like mash potato, dry corn on the cob with tastless chips with a side of pitta bread, which I am not sure why this was in the plate. Very disappointed visited family and was looking forward to a lovely meal which we didn't have.

Great little country pub with an amazing selection of regularly changing beers in the heart of a beautiful Suffolk village. We came for Sunday lunch and the food was brilliant. Starter consisted of some banging fresh water shrimp, and some top quality locally made sourdough. Followed by a classic Sunday lunch cooked with skill, and a beautiful selection of fresh vegetables. Quality produce, cooked to perfection in a great British village pub, What’s not to like! If you haven’t been your missing out. Only criticism is your under selling your self on price! For that quality and quantity you could be charging more. Can’t wait to return.

The food we had here was so so good. I was really impressed and would highly recomend it to anyone who enjoys traditional charming English pubs, that cook fantastic food and serve great beers.I had a beautifully cooked sirloin steak which came with some big chunky chips and a delicious side salad. I fancied a peppercorn sauce with it (which wasn't on the menu) so I chanced asking for one anyway. The waitress and the chef were more than happy to accommodate. And it was a really nice sauce as well. Rich, creamy and packed full of peppercorns. My Dad had the same, and said his was equally good.We both had a couple of pints of Edith cavell beer, which as my Dad lives nearby, informed me it's from the Wolf Brewery in Attleborough, just a few miles from Redgrave. "A proper local Brewery". And it's without doubt one of best pints I've had in ages.My partner had the fish and chips which she said was fab, and my mum really enjoyed hers too.The pub itself is a beautiful tradional pub in a real chocolate box village location overlooking a red telephone box, village green (with outdoor tables on), village shop and pond. It's the type of pub that are sadly disappearing all over the country. This one was saved by the local community and they've now installed permanent managers and a full time chef. Which you can tell, as it's really well run, serving great stuff and is well supported by the community volunteers.Definitely a place worth going out of your way for, and you'll also be doing your bit to keep an independent pub and staple of village life alive. We'll be visiting again soon.

Stumbled upon this pub on a day out. Noticed that it was a community run pub. Fell into easy conversation with a member of staff about this as we have a successful community pub close to us. Regarding the food, we both had the chicken pie, which was tasty if slightly dry and may have been helped with some sauce. Will certainly make a return visit!

Lovely Sunday lunch for my mum’s 70th Birthday. 8 adults and 2 children. Food served promptly which is a bonus with such a large group. The beef roast was tasty. More gravy available on request if needed. They also had kids roast dinners which is a nice touch I don’t like to think of food going to waste. Plenty of drink selection. The waitress even bought over colouring things over for the youngest members of our party. It is local to my parents but I will definitely look to visit again at a later date. Great idea to have a community run pub. We only noticed the pirate ship in the garden on the way out but my little girl was very impressed. Thanks again Cross Keys

Had a family dinner with 7 people and various visits for drinks and coffee. Friendly welcome and nice atmosphere. The fact that its owned by locals means it has a more sociable feel to it.

Nice oub nice cake free on the bar but unfortunately does not make up for them being pretty unpleasant to me today, when we went in there was a table with papers on it, my partner said we can sit here I said better check lket's see if someone is busy working here so asked a member of staff and she said that we could sit there, so bit surprised when having sat down for a while was tod that the table was reserved fro a party of four and could we vacate our seats, explained to member sof staff, who I am pretty certain was the person that told us we could sit there that I suffer from total kidney failure and really didn't want to spend the whole of our group's stop there standing up said they would find me a seat elsewhere but comsidering there was no seat free in whole pub find it hard to beleive that was going to happen. Do wonder why I was the person who had to rectify the mistake someone had made by obviously forgetting to reservethe table that the person had asked for, I was annoyed becuase if the situation had been explained when we asked if table was free we could have probably found another place to sit before the place was packed out, Sorry feel pretty badly treated and don't think I will ever want to return no matter what other features the pub might offer, suggest they check the law on asking someone who is disabled to give up theor seat for example!!!!

A first visit to this community pub since its reincarnation. Nice welcome and the decor adds an inviting vibe. We had been asked to choose our dishes in advance which was not a problem as we were a largish party. The ocean pie was very tasty but should not have included fish skin (black) in my opinion. The Eve’s pudding was sadly rather dry consisting of a crumbly cake with a faint smattering of apple and, unusually, dried fruit. The cafetière of coffee was very good.

Last night me and my wife went to the Cross keys for dinner. I had the pork chop and it was amazing. Extremely well cooked pork chop with a fantastic red pepper sauce. Served with mustard mash potatoes and perfectly cooked (not over cooked) greens and a side helping of home made pork scratchings. The whole dish was so tasty that I felt i had to write a review. My wife had the fish curry with home made lime pickle which was also very good. With a couple of good beers it was a great evening. Thank you chef and thank you cross keys staff. a great evening.

We went as a party of six for Sunday lunch. We had heard great things about the new chef, Michael, and we were not disappointed - in fact, quite the opposite. The food was plentiful, very well cooked and with wonderful flavours. The meat was cooked to perfection, the roasties soft inside with a crisp and golden outer layer and the (6 different) vegetables were all cooked just right. The service was excellent and the ales and wine were up to the usual Cross Keys standard - ie, very good. The Keys has struggled a bit in the past, but with the addition of Michael as Chef, Heidi as Manager and the continuing excellent work of the committee and the many volunteers, things are definitely on the up and Redgrave now has a community owned village pub to be proud of. Highly recommended.

Food had been very up and down while the pub was having trouble finding a good permanent chef, but they seem to have struck gold with the new guy.

Popped in on the off-chance of getting a gluten free meal. After checking we got a table with a menu with quite a few gf options annotated on the menu. Had battered prawns with a cajun dip which the wife enjoyed. I had the chicken skewer not gf but very nice. Staff very friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced and close to where we were staying.

Rooms have lots of character but can be annoying or frustrating. E.g. dimmer lights that randomly start flickering and don't stop or jacuzzi bath with no shower... but parts in the bath hurt. Or Sky TV box mounted in a difficult position to get a remote signal. Restaurant is really good but reception is only manned by breakfast staff. So forget getting items resolved on your bill as staff can't resolve until later in the day. It would also be nice if they checked if everything was okay with the room, too.
