The Victoria in Mid Suffolk

Lovely place! I've chosen it for my birthday celebration and it did not disappoint - amazing food, cosy atmosphere and such nice people! Thank you so much! I'll definitely be recommending The Victoria to my friends and hopefully come back again soon:)

Our first visit to The Victoria for Mothers Day and we were really disappointed. Myself and my husband had the roast which arrived very quickly after ordering, it was luke warm, the meat was dry, as were the roast potatoes, I saw other tables food arriving, none of it looked it hot, no steam rising from the plates at all. I would say the roasts had been plated up and warmed up slightly. My daughter wanted fruit salad after her dinner, which was described as pear, peach and strawberry pieces, when it arrived it was clearly a spoonful of fruit cocktail from a tin and no strawberries in site !! Really disappointed, we won't be returning, it's not cheap to eat out and would expect it to be worth while when you do.

We had steak, salad and new potatoes. All cooked well, tasted great and served promptly. Portions were average. The full menu was overall lacking in fresh food options. A traditional pub menu over a freshly cooked one. Glasses, tables and cutlery all clean. Staff friendly.

Pleasant atmosphere staff very friendly

Visiting my parents again. Seniors menu was excellent for them, small cod and a small macaroni cheese. I went for the special which was a best of British burger, with pulled pork Red Leicester and beef dripping gravy, it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Beers were Abbot Ale and The Pack from wolf brewery, both very pleasant. Will definitely be back again.

Food was lovely and staff were friendly this was my first visit to the Victoria it was reasonably priced as well .

Our visit was on a Sunday and we were expecting a Sunday lunch menu, how disappointed we were. My guests ordered a roast turkey meal and a beef pie. When they arrived both were clearly pre-prepared and had been blasted in a microwave, the so-called roast potatoes were hard and cold in the middle. The pub was over run with dogs and un-ruley children who were left by their parents to play their computer games at full volume. Call me old fashioned but I do not expect this standard of food or lack of respect however, it is what the people of today seem to allow. I have selected dishes that I had but I didn't otherwise this won't be posted. Believe it or not I shall not be back.

Brilliant as normal. Staff friendly and accommodating. Natasha and her team are always Brilliant. For our local pub we are very happy with service, food, staff and atmosphere.

Called in on Sunday at 3pm, yes it was busy but there were tables available. Was told it was roast only, asked if they did anything vegetarian. Was told only Lamb Shank and Beef and Ale Pie. Looked at the menu which has a veggie option on there but was told only Lamb Shank or Beef and Ale Pie. We left, will not go back, but by the reviews everyone loves this pub, so it is just us very fussy people.

Great service. Atmosphere and menu choices. Unfortunately the battered fish and burger were dry and overcooked. Could of been a one off as bacon, bun and fries were spot on.

My partner booked a meal here for my birthday this month. I was disappointed as after eating my lamb dinner it was the most expensive. On menu and it came with packet smash, instead of real mash potatoes. The lamb was chewy, the gravy was nice but not enough. I must add it is a nice looking pub but my meal let it down for me.

Would prefer table service snd pay at end of meal. Quite noisy as very busy.

Decent was-village; now commuter-mini-town sports bar, cum ‘local’ with food. Lovely wood burner … not that you could get near it - not a criticism, just place everyoine wanted to be on a freezing cold day ! Lunch was served pretty quickly given number of people eating by friendly, efficient staff. Food as expected - not sure needed great ‘hunks’ of bloomer white bread - quality could be improved with choice, adding a brown option. Chip portions were small. Honeycomb sundaes enjoyed. happy to revisit if in area.

We went for my husbands 70th birthday. And from start to finish you could not find any fault it was spacious and very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food you couldn't fault we all enjoyed it, it was delicious. I would definitely go back and would recommend it

Lovely place to eat & reasonably priced..

The food gets worse and the restaurant closes earlier. The two things go together. Much better food and value for money at The Fox and Hounds.

The pub has been beautifully refurbished, the staff efficient and friendly. The food, however was disappointing - hungry horse style fast food. We may well return, but definitely won't eat!

Been here twice now and will definitely be back again. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is warm. The service and food are fantastic and very reasonably priced, the wait time has been short both times I have been, even if I did have to wait longer it would truly be worth it for the flavourful food. I wish I could give more than 5 stars as I haven't had an experience in a pub this good in over 10 years. Thank you so much for being an amazing place to go for a delicious meal in great surroundings.

The staff are really friendly helpful and efficient. The pub is always spotlessly clean warm and welcoming. The food is good and served up quickly and cleared away quickly. There is always a lovely atmosphere in the Victoria and is used by young and old, couples and families Good food and excellent service.

Absolutely fantastic lunchtime meal today (Thursday 14th December) it was very busy but they fitted us in (group of 7) no problem or fuss. They accommodated our young children with colouring and crayons and were super friendly. Our food was cook perfectly, and in very good time! We had 3 seniors (great senior menu and very good value for money) 3 from the festive menu (I recommend the brie and cranberry burger) and a very good value children's meal, drink and dessert. We live locally so will be back, lots!! Thanks so much and Merry Christmas 🎅

A warm welcome always awaits you at the Victoria. Plenty of staff and attentive. A great selection of food and drinks, nicely laid out with a lovely garden too. Family friendly including your dog, this is a pub you will keep going back to.

What a great meal and a fantastic evening spent with the family the prompt friendly service amazing katsu curry which I'd recommend to anyone visiting the waitresses name who we didn't get unfortunately took a genuine interest in our children and everyone around us in the restaurant making sure they were happy the kind of Friendly family experience you would expect from any well run establishment.

We were a group of 4 and all found food good and staff happy to help.

We love coming here for drinks, or food and drinks, either as a couple or with family. It's a lovely pub with great staff, a friendly atmosphere, delicious food, comfortable indoors and outdoors with a good sized beer garden.

First visit to this pub, the pub itself looks really nice outside and inside likewise nicely decorated and warm, drinks we thought expensive a pint of lager and 2 soft drinks £14!! and no tab, can’t add drinks onto food bill have to pay for everything separately, which we found very strange as never come across this anywhere else before. We found the Sunday roast quite disappointing, menu states beef served pink, (a little too pink for my liking) also roast potatoes clearly frozen ones and portion sizes a bit on the small side, crumble for dessert was ok could have been hotter, get the food right and this place would be fab.

Love this pub, love the staff. They very kindly let me celebrate my special birthday recently and nothing was too much trouble. It’s my go to pub, immaculate, decent pub grub, Garden and pods are great in the summer. Thank you David, Natasha and staff, you have made the pub friendly and welcoming xx

I have admired this place from the outside for many weeks and thought I would give it try. Decor lovely and beautifully warm, but unfortunately the food wasn’t good and we were not told it was order at the bar and sat at our table for 20 minutes waiting for a waiter. My mash was grey, the veg was cold and almost raw and my pie although tasty had only 3 pieces of meat and far too much pastry. Will come for a drink again but not to eat and unfortunately unable to recommend

As a party of nine we went for a quick bite to eat We ordered children’s meals a selection of the small plates plus a pizza. Unfortunately the pizza never turned up! We approached the staff to be told “well you probably never ordered it then” they soon realised we had and that they had missed it of, they gave us a refund and that was it! No apology Unfortunately the beer garden had dog muck all over the place and to top it of my grandsons trainers were in a disgusting state and were binned Safe to say we will not be returning

Very spacious pub well decorated. Large outside area with grass area for children's games. Large TV outside for sporting events. Food was excellent. Would definitely return.

Great garden with nice atmosphere. However, we came for a Sunday roast and were slightly disappointed. Tasted like frozen food and wasn't freshly cooked. Desserts were nice though.

On visiting to gathering friends on bank holiday Monday , not that busy for the day food was average ! We all had food. We spent a lot, as there was 8 of us . I was served not properly..I was made shots that baby Guinness looked curdled as served not very appetising . and a pitcher served be told as I didn’t want much ice that’s why it was half full ! The manager lady was rude , unfriendly and was said that’s how we do it here ! I work behind a bar and know how customer service and how drinks are made , I was appalled by the inexperienced staff to serve drinks and the attitude a customer as myself got when dare to query the quality of the drinks. I would like to say the young lads on duty that day were helpful and said sorry to how we were treated. I hope they get credit for their excellent customer service . The manager lady has a lot to learn of hospitality and smile instead of making a customer feel humiliated. I saw how rude she was with other customers and I don’t think I be returning as such a shame as a lovely laid out pub and fantastic venue decorated lovely and clean and fresh.

Food isn't great. it seems to all be microwaved. On the plus side you don't have to wait long for it to arrive at your table. Recently renovated, everything is clean and tidy, and the garden is pleasant with quality furniture.

First came here in 1978, when it was surrounded by fields, having moved back to the area and found it now in the middle of a housing estate I was interested to see how much it had changed. Still a great family pub, albeit a lot bigger, with a warm welcome to drinkers and diners alike and they welcome Dogs win win.

There's something for everyone here. Great family pub. Pool table, dart boards, quiz nights. Excellent food. Very polite staff. Great beer garden. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Great pub in Thurston. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and fantastic selection of beers. Unfortunately didn't sample the food but it looked so nice as the waiters brought it out. Can't wait to go back.

At the moment it is used as a car park for the building site opposite. ############### REOPENED Drove passed today and the Victoria was open for business. Didn't go in but looks very tidy from the outside. Done up very nicely.

We stumbled across the Victoria having been rerouted home due to the A14 roadworks. Been for a drink a couple of times on the way home (as looks sooo inviting) and last week we decided on a little impromptu dinner. We both had the burger with a slice of cheese added. I love a burger but don't tend to have one out. This was a simple burger VERY well done. The salad in the burger was crisp and fresh, the bun substantial and toasted and the burger was lovely...the chips were salted with rosemary...and the price was very very decent. Lots of young people working here and all very polite...big thumbs up on great staff 👍 Have already booked again. We haven't sat outside the back (only the front) but the outside area I would imagine is very popular as it looks lovely. Well done Victoria!
