We’ve been in here only a few times for drinks, always been a good experience. A proper old timey place, heavily beamed and full of character. We tried out the food this time, a blackboard is the menu, there’s a good selection of pub classics, a lovely drop of Aspell’s cider and the jobs a goodun. I had the steak and kidney pie with veg and my wife went for the Wagu burger. It was delicious, great service and some wonderful anecdotes from the landlord.

My friends and I called into this pub on Wednesday February 8th early afternoon to be told by a rude man behind the bar " we're shut" to which my friend replied that's fine we just wanted to ask if you serve food later this evening. The man was so rude and abrupt with us, we decided against returning that evening and took our business elsewhere to somewhere more welcoming. I have seen good reviews of this pub which leads me to believe that this rude man must be very judgmental and for some reason did not like us although we were polite and didn't give him cause to judge us. we certainly will never return to be spoken to in that rude manner! The man should maybe find a job away from working with the public, he certainly wasn't a people person.

New to the village and loving the local with its traditional values being upheld with regards to its opening hours and no horrible TV screens and fruit machines . It gets a massive thumbs up from me . Not eaten here yet but the Sunday roasts look and smell amazing Lovely local ale served up by the chatty landlord . Top marks White Hart

My partner and I, took my parents here for a Sunday roast. It was delicious, lovely crispy roast potatoes, gorgeous cauliflower in white sauce, ample cuts of pork or beef; great crackling! Desserts are fabulous too. Their sticky toffee pudding is possibly among the best in UK. Atmosphere inside is very cozy and historic. Very genuine British pub. Big open fire is very welcoming during winter. Max the landlord is an old-school wit, with lots of sharp and amusing comments. His charming partner Alison is behind a lot of the honest food, she's as lovely as Max is sometimes acerbic!! We've had lots of high-end gastro pub grub in London. The White Hart is as good, if not better. It's certainly more intimate and homely. Highly recommended!!

We have long roots at Stradbroke - almost 200 years - though none of us live there any more. I have lugubrious memories of the old Queen's Head pub, Queen Street which (UNsurprisingly) closed over 10 years ago. The White Hart is a credit to the village! Among other things, streak and KIDNEY pie was on offer! Show me another pub that serves this! (Bland Steak and Ale on offer everywhere, usually with a stupid pastry hat, is rubbish.) But we didn't have much time so asked if a Plowman's was possible? Yes it was . Three sorts of cheese, excellent ham, delicious, crusty bread and a variety of pickles. Plus well-drawn Adnams ale . Perfection! Max (wonderful dry humour - don't know if he's a Suffolk man, if not he should be made an honorary one immediately - and lovely Alison could not be better at running this great traditional pub! Snowflakes may disagree - but there are many other places catering to their needs. Hugely recommended.

Came as a family. Walked in to a totally empty pub save for the Landlord. We asked if they were serving food. Let’s just say he wasn’t very receptive or friendly, and we weren’t even sure if he worked there. Eventually got seated and ordered food. The food itself was good but the landlord was so rude I would not recommend the pub as we felt very unwanted and uncomfortable, which is a real shame.

We visited the pub for dinner on Thursday last. Lovely atmosphere and affable landlord. My steak was cooked perfectly as was my husband's lamb shanks and I had a yummy sticky toffee pudding. The only disappointment was the extortionate cost of drinks. I know things are tough right now but thought it a bit naughty to charge £4.95 for a tonic and lime juice. Apart from that, very nice.

We have been going to the White Hart for a meal on Friday, Saturday nights a number of times and love every minute of it. Alison's food is delicious and the waitresses are very friendly and efficient (with face coverings these days.) Tables are well spaced so no fear of not being able to socially distance. Now we have read a few complaints here on this thread of Max the pub owner. Well all we can say is I enjoy his dry humour and tough in cheek conversation. He is not for the snow flakers that seem to exist these days, but we get on with him fine and considerably enjoy being in his pub.

Took my 96 year old grandad in for lunch and after ordering drinks was told they fully booked even though the place was almost empty. The landlord was very rude and I got the feeling it was because I was not a local. I won’t ever bother going back in there again. I’m surprised this place is even still in business with that attitude.

We were staying in Stradbroke for a holiday and popped in to have dinner. Was told by the frosty landlord dogs are allowed on the lead. He didn't look happy we had the children with us. When asked about a children's menu, we were told in no uncertain terms they didn't do one and to try The Ivy House (who also don't allow children). We couldn't believe that someone so rude could own a business, stuck in the dark ages with a miserable attitude. We definitely don't recommend this pub if you aren't a local!

We have eaten at the White Hart twice in the last 10 days. We have recently bought a house nearby which is "without kitchen" and we have been so grateful to Alison and Max for their hospitality. Dog friendly, a great selection of ales and wines and lovely home cooked food delivered with a smile. I have rarely felt so grateful for a hearty meal. At least 3 choices on then menu for pescatarians too. Puddings are just what you need on a chilly Autumn night. The menu isn't vast, but the food is fresh and homely ...no boil in the bag here. Not expecting much from this standard local pub, but the food was amazing - fresh, well prepared and good value with good local ales. I'd give it 5 starts except that the service from the barman was distinctly grudging, muttering 'unbelievable' as we 3 sat down at a table laid for 2 - I mean it wasn't that much extra work and the place was empty. And weirdly they do not serve tea, telling us its a pub. We know, but for the sake of dunking a tea bag in hot water you loose £3 and get me writing about the strange service.

We went to this pub with some friends for Sunday lunch, having been told how good it was, and that booking was essential. When we got there it was not particularly busy, and there were plenty of tables available, It is a nice village pub, with locals drinking at the bar. There were good real ales on tap at moderate prices. The Sunday lunch was excellent and good value, with a choice of 2 roasts with good portions, and a lot of well cooked hot vegetables. The reasonable choice of sweets were tasty, and the whole meal for 4 with drinks amounted to around £65.00. What totally spoilt the dining experience was the loud "background" music, which particularly annoyed my wife and myself as it was mainly jazz, which we dislike. A great pity as everything else was fine. We would return only if we knew the music had stopped.
