The best restaurants serving British food in Ampthill Central Bedfordshire East of England

We were lucky to get a table for the first night of the December menu. 7 courses (plus surprise Christmas treat) of absolute heaven. Wines also stunning and service was just really special - not over the top, just spot on and didn’t miss a beat. Thank you for a really lovely evening!!!

Attended a wake for my Brother-in-law . The staff were very friendly and helpful with everyone . Food was well presented and good quality . It's a lovely little pub . Highly recommend . Must go back in happier circumstances .

Just had our Christmas dinner, wow! It was sooooo nice, plenty of good quality food, my only fault.... the crumble and ice cream was too small! Will definitely be going back! Well done to all the staff today they did an excellent job! 😀😀

We arrived at 12.30 yesterday, Friday 10th, having booked on line and had received confirmation. We were told no evidence of our booking. We asked if there was a table for 4 and were told we could sit in bar area and order at bar. The bar area was most unwelcoming, cold and lacking in atmosphere. One other person there also said it was cold. Two starters came for friends, along with our mains at same time! Delay in certain items. Unpleasant attitude of receptionist.

The best in everything they serve! The fish and chips are great , big juicy cod and perfect chips . You cant go wrong with any of the meat kebabs all high quality meat cooked perfectly :-) the ampthill special kebab will feed two hungry people !

Dropped in here today to have a drink & a bit to eat whilst having a debriefing meetin with a colleague, i had a frappe & panini, The staff were friendly & smiling, always a good start, the place is relaxed & clean with ample seating, the frappe & panini were nice, wish they did a bigger frappe but thats my fault as i seem addicted to them during the summer,lol, We were able to talk without disturbing others & unlike some establishments like this they didn’t seat you so your almost on someone else’s table, the table spacing gave you your own personal space,

Staff and location superb. Let down by the rooms, they are road facing with windows that are old and dont shut properly so the noise levels are like rough sleeping on the street. Be prepared to be woken by a bin lorry at 5am on a wednesday and relentless traffic from 6am every other day. Beds have no support foam mattresses and pillows are like worn out wafers. Shower has a mouldy ceiling.

Heading to a 1970s weekend - stopped here by chance. Food was good and reasonably priced with big portions. Would stop here again if our route took us past.

Overal 1 star for poor DJ choice. So overpriced for poor performance person that plays same music and does not play requested music, especially for New Year event. Can you please next time hire fun DJ that knows how to entertain people not herself.

The cottage bakery made a birthday cake for my daughters 8th Birthday. It was made exactly to my specification with matching cupcakes to go with it. My daughter loved the design and both the cake and cupcakes tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend.
