The best restaurants serving British food in Ampthill Central Bedfordshire East of England

You know it's good, when the place is so busy. I usually treat myself to an "Our House" with Loaded Fries, just because....and why not. The order process is super easy online, with a good selection of collection times to suit my needs. I have on occasion ordered just walking by and the staff are great and fit you in between the online riders they are preparing. Great, food, staff, location and a credit to our Market Town....

Subtlety with enthusiasm Great experience. Firstly finding the way in, fortunately we met someone else visiting who showed us the path. Met as we walked in by young staff very keen to assist. We were seated down the stairs in the lower area. Some reviewers have nit picked about the decor, personally, like many other aspects of the venue, it simply is part of what this place is. Staff, including chef are all young and very enthusiastic. The experience is a selection of fascinating dishes with mostly subtle but fascinating flavours. Personal preference was the bread roll was slightly too salty for my taste and the beef cheek another really strong flavour but that's my view. The fish dishes were both superb, the desserts were both amazing. I was really looking forward to the rhubarb course slightly concerned that is would be challenged by the strength of the rhubarb, but it was pitched perfectly. Lovely experience, a venue with interested friendly staff who clearly cate. Chef was lovely to chat to, obviously very passionate about his craft. One minor observation, we travelled a round trip of maybe 180 miles both needing to drive as part of the journey, so a small selection of cocktails might have been a good option to offer too. Toilet (mixed bathing) clean and functional. Great experience, has potential for future escalating awards

Great pub and landlord very busy four cask beers

I went to the duchess tea rooms with my sister, niece and my daughter. Right from the helpful lady on the gate we were greeted by smiling helpful staff. The manager of the shop directed us to the tearooms. Our waitress Megan was helpful and...

New landlord and landlady doing a great job. Really lovely people. I do prefer real ale but the beers they have on are very good.

Not only was the food lovely, the staff could not have been more accommodating in helping us with the particular requirements for our family meal. Wholeheartedly recommend.

First time visit to the Flying Horse. We were blow away by the quality of the food, considering how busy the restaurant was, it was not something I was not expecting. I give it top marks. The service was friendly and was engaged, thank you Paris. A very pleasant experience.

The best in everything they serve! The fish and chips are great , big juicy cod and perfect chips . You cant go wrong with any of the meat kebabs all high quality meat cooked perfectly :-) the ampthill special kebab will feed two hungry people !

Dropped in here today to have a drink & a bit to eat whilst having a debriefing meetin with a colleague, i had a frappe & panini, The staff were friendly & smiling, always a good start, the place is relaxed & clean with ample seating, the frappe & panini were nice, wish they did a bigger frappe but thats my fault as i seem addicted to them during the summer,lol, We were able to talk without disturbing others & unlike some establishments like this they didn’t seat you so your almost on someone else’s table, the table spacing gave you your own personal space,

Absolutely fantastic Sunday roast since the new owners have taken over! Decent cask ale location serving Tim Taylor’s Landlord. One of the best beef roast dinners I’ve ever had at a decent price! Compliments to the chef!

Servicio de primera clase de Mark y su equipo. Hubby había hechizado localmente jamón , los huevos eran un amarillo dorado vibrante, patatas fritas crujientes y frijoles. Su respuesta cuando le pregunté '¿cómo estuvo su comida?', él respondió ... 'eso fue el cielo' resume mi delicioso frío y arroz también, hermosa carne tierna. La gran atmósfera selló el trato. Great Bar Service and atmosphere

The cottage bakery made a birthday cake for my daughters 8th Birthday. It was made exactly to my specification with matching cupcakes to go with it. My daughter loved the design and both the cake and cupcakes tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend.
