You know it's good, when the place is so busy. I usually treat myself to an "Our House" with Loaded Fries, just because....and why not. The order process is super easy online, with a good selection of collection times to suit my needs. I have on occasion ordered just walking by and the staff are great and fit you in between the online riders they are preparing. Great, food, staff, location and a credit to our Market Town....

Subtlety with enthusiasm Great experience. Firstly finding the way in, fortunately we met someone else visiting who showed us the path. Met as we walked in by young staff very keen to assist. We were seated down the stairs in the lower area. Some reviewers have nit picked about the decor, personally, like many other aspects of the venue, it simply is part of what this place is. Staff, including chef are all young and very enthusiastic. The experience is a selection of fascinating dishes with mostly subtle but fascinating flavours. Personal preference was the bread roll was slightly too salty for my taste and the beef cheek another really strong flavour but that's my view. The fish dishes were both superb, the desserts were both amazing. I was really looking forward to the rhubarb course slightly concerned that is would be challenged by the strength of the rhubarb, but it was pitched perfectly. Lovely experience, a venue with interested friendly staff who clearly cate. Chef was lovely to chat to, obviously very passionate about his craft. One minor observation, we travelled a round trip of maybe 180 miles both needing to drive as part of the journey, so a small selection of cocktails might have been a good option to offer too. Toilet (mixed bathing) clean and functional. Great experience, has potential for future escalating awards

Nice welcome and seated quickly, lovely complimentary bread/dips/salad once drinks were ordered and waiting for food. Starters came fairly quickly but then when they should have brought the mains they tried to bring the same starters again! Unfortunately had to wait quite a while for the mains then as they seemed to have put them in a queue for when they expected us to finish the starters instead if pushing them through quicker. Apart from that 1 blip the food was delicious and will definitely go back again - one other unfortunate thing is lack of parking and you have to pay in the (fairly small) pay & display behind the Indian restaurant down the road - not sure on the parking at Waitrose which is a bit further to walk. Very friendly staff and overall a good night out! Recommended!😀

1st time here for my birthday, I'm the most fussiest pescarterian ever, and asked to slightly alter my meal tonight, 08/03/2025 from a basil sauce, to opted for1 of the steak sauces , ( had to pay the extra but well worth it )mushrooms white wine,n garlic, it was cooked to perfection, tasted amazing, just the right amount of sauce to dip my garlic bread in which was also amazing ,although alil, bit to strong(personal pref,n i love garlic, next time will opt,for cheesy g, bread just to lighten the taste ) , icould not fault this meal,it takes a lot for me to rate anywhere, cos I hate leaving negative, reviews, unless REally bad..BUT honestly, very rarely I leave a restaurant 😋 this happy..! If I had to make a niggle, ( again personal) lighting is a bit lacking on a shiny backed menu, maybe something they could easily address, but overall,BLOODY AMAZING👏 WOULD N WILL BE RECOMMENDING TO EVERY1 ...X SERVICE AMAZINGING, PRICING ( AGAIN PERSONAL,.. ALIL, EXPENSIVE FOR OUR PERSONAL BUDGET) BUT AS A TREAT...WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY 5 🌟..WILL DEFINITELY RETURN,N ON A LIGHTER NOTE THANK GOD YOUR NOT CHEAPER OR IN MY VILLAGE OR I WOULD BE VERY SKINT N FAT.XXX 5stars to all your staff,xx

Came on the off chance that they could fit us in, which we did. I had the pan fried bream and it was the best fish I had ever eaten. The staff were really nice and professional. The portions were an OK size and they were a decent price. The seating was nice and inviting and the decor was really nice. We visited twice and as I was visiting, the bream will be forever in my dreams.

Popped in when visiting Ampthill for work after a recommendation from a local. Loved the food. Fresh, punchy flavoursome chicken. . Best fries I’ve had in years. Decent beers too. Very friendly place with a nice buzzy atmosphere.

We visit this pub at least once a fortnight, sometimes more often and we just think it's a great place to spend time. Food is generally very good, but we especially rave about the Sunday Lunch to our friends. Roast beef is of excellent quality and portion size is also good. Vegetables are very fresh and plentiful, carrots are amazing to such an extent even my daughter loves them. Yorkies yummy. Jake, his fellow managers, and the rest of the team, are enthusiastic, friendly and run a great operation. We were concerned that the standards may slip when it was recently taken over by a small brewery. Pleased they seem to understand you don't fix what is working well. Overall not much changed, although we have fed back that the wine choice does seem to have been changed and not for the better. As ever however when we fed this back, it was taken on board and it was acknowledged they would look at this. Keep an eye out in the summer, they hold good outside dining/music events. Seen a couple of comments about cost. To be quite honest if price is ones priority, I would suggest there are plenty of other pubs where cheapness is possibly more of a focus that may be more suitable . Personally I like the option of paying a little more for good quality and The George offers this. Maulden with the White Hart also, has two great pubs which offers great choice. Thankyou!
