The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

We used to enjoy our outings to the Gladstone, but it has turned into a dirty, smelly and "clicky" place to eat or drink! Instead of being dog friendly it is more like a dog kennel - dogs annoy non-dog owners by licking them etc and sitting on the seating instead of under the tables. The seats and tables are dirty and the whole place is unhygienic - we will not return and will leave it to the arrogant dog owners who think everybody wants to be licked and dribbled on by their pets!

Best chip shop in the area! Food is always cooked spot on and no long waiting times. Great staff who appreciate all customers who walk through the door.

YOU MUST TRY THIS PUB. The food was really good, it is not high end but very good home cooked food, the pub is warm and welcoming and the staff great. We went with friends who live nearby and will certainly be going back.

What a loverly place. I've known this building since it was Eastern Electricity show room in 70s.. Passed by but never entered now a cafe. What a great place.

I was working in the area on 29th December 2024 and randomly came across this pub, so I decided to call in for a pint at 5pm. What a brilliant choice this was. The staff and customers were lovely lovely people who welcomed me with open arms. I can't speak highly enough about this pub. Great pint, great food, amazing friendly atmosphere 👍 An easy 10 out of 10 from me 👍 Next time I'm working in the London area I will definitely return.

Fresh beer and nice staff. Menu is limited but good for quick lunch. There was a mistake with our order and the staff quickly sorted it.

We had Sunday lunch today at The Red Lion and it was excellent. Our table was booked for 8 but due to stormy weather and illness, we changed the booking to just 4 people. Nevertheless the owners were very accommodating and friendly and gave us an excellent time, friendly fast service and wonderful home-cooked wholesome food. We highly recommend this charming pub and hope to visit again soon.

A great cafe for breakfast with friendly staff

Love eating at this restaurant, just wish it was a bit closer to home. We shall just have to stay at the Imperial Hotel more often.

Every time we come here, the service is welcoming and friendly. Food is 100% cooked fresh and tasty. Highly recommended.

Back again after a year away, but when we go to Gorleston, the first stop is the Dock Tavern. Always a warm welcome. Always good ale. When food is available, (only certain days of the week) always good and very reasonably priced. The bar staff are fantastic. A real community pub - unfortunately a dying breed. Keep up the good work.
