I went today at 8/01/2024,I went as a friend had told me about how helpful the owners are with people who are struggling with the basics like food and it took a lot of courage to ask for help. However when I arrived and I arrived in the specified time I was not even able to explain why I was there when I was just told were closed and the person then completely ignored me,I know I'm not entitled to hand outs this is a service which they do not have to provide however because I came to use the service does not mean I am not entitled to be treated how they would like to be treated and from what my friend told me they were the most caring empathetic people who work there but this was not what I found I understand people can have a bad day but it made me feel embarrassed and ashamed that I had come.

We visited this cafe as we ae staying in the Travelodge over the road and were on the hunt for Vegan food. Though the cafe only does vegan food Thursday & Friday (we turned up Saturday) they went out of their way to accommodate us and we had a lovely meal. The staff are lovely and friendly and the food was great. On top of this they have a 'pay as you feel' policy and they help the homeless. I would recommend this place to anybody. Keep it going guys, you're doing great :-)

I used to come here regularly but hadn't been for a while. When I visited recently the cafe had had a bit of a makeover and was looking much fresher and more up to date. The menu was very similar to before so I chose my usual which is a med veg wrap. However, I was really taken aback to find out that the cafe now charges extra for vegan alternative cheese. The vegan cheese in question is standard, supermarket vegan cheese and is served as a replacement cheese as opposed to an addition. It's not the price I'm bothered about, but rather the principal of a vegetarian cafe discriminating against vegans and those wishing to make ethical choices in their diet. This poor policy/practice needs a rethink!!!

I visited here with my young sons recently whilst shopping in Watford. We were greeted on arrival and asked if we wanted to see a menu as soon as we stepped in. Staff appeared to know a few guests by name and made conversation with everyone. The food was really nice, as was the coffee and portion sizes were large. It's always nice to have a full menu to choose from and not just a tiny section. The man that served us asked if I wanted the same glasses refilled when we ordered a second round of drinks, which made me happy as I really don't like wastefulness in any sense. My sons were struggling to finish their pizzas and takeaway boxes were offered to us at no additional cost. I will definitely return!

After googling vegan/veggie cafes Gokula came up so my sister and I thought we would give it a go, it is just a 5 minute walk from Intu shopping centre. The menu had lots of vegan dishes and vegan options. I chose a hummus and Mediterranean veg wrap which was delicious and my sister chose the nachos. Both portions were very big and so yummy! We also both ordered vegan desserts - chocolate orange fudge cake and coffee chocolate tart, again both so amazing! The guys in there were so friendly, the food was so delicious and the portions were very generous for such a small price. We both ordered mains and a dessert and it came to around £5-7 each and we were left feeling so full and satisfied! My sister and I will definitely be returning and taking our dad along (not a veggie) to introduce him to some great dishes!

We made a special visit to GoKula, expecting some creative vegan dishes- as it supposedly specialises in this cuisine. Whereas the staff were nice, they really are missing an opportunity to impress, when so many people are vegan. To offer only two options to my son and I is poor. A bean burger and falafel with really bland salad, is not creative. The chocolate and orange fudge cake had run out by 2 pm- this might have saved the day. I asked for apple juice- expecting fresh juice but I watched them nip next door to Costcutter, to purchase a carton of concentrated apple juice for which we paid £2 to drink. I understand that this was a fast food cafe, the vegetarian looked better but for those who choose to be vegan, better choices in a vegan restaurant- is not too much to expect. How about tasty soup and crusty bread? What about some tasty dressings on the very plain salads? Some rice noodles and pasta dishes are fast food- how about some vegan cakes? We won't make the effort to come again as the majority of ordinary restaurants and cafes, could do better. It was cheap though.

My wife and I (Vegans) returned here for our lunch, having visited a friend in the nearby hospital, and having very much enjoyed our visit a week earlier. The diversity of straightforward and wholesome vegetarian menu items, and the clearly identified Vegan items or Vegan options greatly impressed us as the area is not good for such choices.Simple ideas like sourcing a Veggie burger that is also Vegan (very tasty!) would be pleasing enough. But also researching and finding Vegan cheese slices to enable a cheeseburger shows an excellent understanding of their target customers, which was also reflected in the knowledgeable staff.Service was excellent and the overall environment clean and comfortable. Not enormous in terms of seating capacity, so may be cramped during peak times, though we have never found it so.It will certainly be planned into our future trips to Watford (we live 8 miles away) which we do regularly.

Seeing the other reviews we decided to go for a family lunch. I'm afraid we were pretty underwhelmed. GoKula is OK - a fairly standard vegitarian cafe, with (on the day we were there) nothing outstanding on the menu - just the usual veggie burgers, falafel wraps etc.Not somewhere we would go out of our way for.

On our Xmas shopping trip, my niece suggested GoKula for lunch. Out of six of us I am the only one that is not vegetarian but love vegetarian food. I had no idea what to have. One of the very friendly staff suggested sag paneer wrap. I had no idea what it was but was happy to try something new. It was amazing and I ate all of it. All of us completely demolished our lunch. I have to say that the atmosphere was very chilled and comfortable and I will definitely go back there and suggest to others to do the same. Prices were very reasonable and staff were very friendly.

We were taken to GoKula by our son and daughter-in-law (who are vegan/vegetarian) last month. As non vegetarians this was a new experience for us but I really can't praise this little restaurant enough. They have a great menu with a wide selection of dishes and their Cheesecake is a little slice of heaven. Our meal for 4 was less than £20 and that included GREAT coffee for just a pound. Staff were really friendly and very very helpful. At the back there is a lovely little room with very comfortable sofas and chairs where we sat to enjoy our coffee and deserts.Really worth visiting.

I don't often drink coffee, I live in Australia and it costs a bomb so I went to town when I found out it was only a quid at GoKula, I had a top notch veggie breakfast, I am veggie and love the concept of a veggie cafe, the atmosphere there was relaxed, real nice place, will visit again.

I always have difficultly finding suitable vegan cuisine away from home, but GoKula made eating out an enjoyable and exciting experience for both me and my Mother. There is a great atmosphere in the cafe and the staff are incredibly welcoming, not to mention everything is really well priced. I'll definitely be returning when I'm back in Watford.

This is the only place you need to eat at in Watford. Lattes are amazing and are just a quid, and it offers delicious vegetarian food with quick service.

Looking from the outside at this quiet and humble restaurant, and looking at the menu we weren't sure what to expect, but the man serving us was friendly and chatty, and when the food came out it blew us away. We all ordered different dishes and they were all delicious - a particular favourite were the cheese and tomato buckwheat pancakes. Plus our great lattes and the warm service topped it all off. We will definitely be visiting again! Really recommended if you want to support a local place serving simply great veggie food :)

I must say the relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food not to mention the value for money, will definatley ensure a return soon.Mark & Justyna

Its been close to 3 years since I last came here regularly and I'm really glad its still here. Familiar faces, same cozy atmosphere and amazing coffee at the same price as always. The food is just as good as I remember and the service quick and friendly. I'm happy places like this can still exist.

I have been meaning to leave a review for a while, but as they say it's better late than never. Gokulas has been my favourite cafe in not just Watford, but London also, since it opened. The food is delicious, the staff are always up for a laugh and the environment spiritual. The reason I have titled this, a real vegetarian cafe is because most places you eat at have vegetarian options but there is still cross contamination from the meat, fish and eggs present. As Gokulas is run with love and care by it's owners, this translates into the quality control of all food and thus is suitable for those who follow a strict vegetarian or vegan diet. Please check Gokulas out and experience it for yourself.

Excellent food, fantastic coffee but not the place to go when you're in a rush. Serves an inspired menu compared to the usual vegetarian/vegan fare.

Great food and service second to none. Average meal price between £12 to £15 and daily specials menu. Most alcoholic drinks sold, tea/coffee and soft drinks. Best to book online or ring ahead to make sure it's open as this is often used for special occasions and closed to the public.
