Villiers Coffee House in Watford

We came here most days when visiting from Australia - we really enjoyed the coffee & atmosphere inside is lovely. However, we stopped visiting after we were declined ordering Takeaway coffee due to it being busy. We were just as much a paying customer as a dine & if we had said we were dine in we would have been allowed a coffee.

Great coffee *although maybe need better staff training? one member was rather rude to some others. Which wasn’t great in front of quite a few customers.

I had a relaxing time at Villiers. This is a cozy and laidback café, with a lot of different treats on offer that cater to a variety of diets. There are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. I was very appreciative that I could choose between a few flourless snacks. I got the flapjack, which I enjoyed. The coffee is good, and I can't complain when there's nice latte art. I didn't love that the latte was served in a glass instead of a mug, but that's more of a preference. In short: nice!

Busy coffee shop but not loud or anything, staff were chatty and polite with drinks made quickly too. Better veggie options would be great but blueberry muffin I had was tasty. Will be back to eat in next time as had wifi and power sockets. If there is a loyalty scheme, it wasn’t advertised but think this would be a good idea.

Delicious speciality coffee with complex notes, friendly and warm atmosphere and spacious inside. Great place to meet a friend or a dog or for a moment to yourself.x

The owner needs to get with the times- smoking is basically encouraged in the outdoor area (ashtrays everywhere) even though so many parents with babies and kids come here. The inside has high chairs and books acting like it’s child friendly, no child friendly place would allow smoking on outdoor seating, with the smoke constantly wafting in. I’ve asked management to reconsider this but have been ignored. Last time I came was dodging outdoor clouds of smoke then sat inside and was subjecting my 10 month old baby to second hand smoke. Won’t be coming back.

I recently revisited Villiers Coffee House after my first visit in August 2022, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The chai tea latte was perfectly spiced, and the tuna panini was a savory delight. The cheesecake was heavenly, and don't even get me started on their power balls – simply scrumptious! I can't wait to return for another delightful experience. Highly recommended!

Really nice artisan coffee and delicious cake. Service was good as waitress helped us to get a table sorted for large group by asking someone to move to another table, which was well handled. Unfortunately they ran out of sandwiches which is why we only gave it 4 stars. Has a real community vibe.

Brilliant place but please please bring back hot coffee....lately its been so cold you have to gulp it in 2 minutes. There were 3 of us and we did specifically ask for them to be extra hot. You are still the best but a tad hotter would be perfect!

Amazing carrot cake, definitely recommend it. Also love their lemon drizzle cake. Such a friendly community, all friendly. My wife dog also loved the treats! I also definitely recommend their iced mocha or cappuccino. The service here is wonderful and they were all friendly every time I have been here. If in the area definitely try and stop by.🥰

Not impressed, table & chairs pack in, difficult to move around and avoid the dogs! Window at front of shop steamed up, place felt damp. Many of the customers using WiFi on laptops with trailing leads as trip hazard. Will not be returning.

The cutest little spot and great coffee!

A small and quaint cafe on Villiers road, whenever I’m visiting family in the area I always look forward to getting a latte and new york pastrami here. The food is lovely here and the coffee of great quality. Definitely try this place out if you’re in the area.

A Gem of a little coffee shop. It's a regular favourite of mine.. the 40 min walk is nothing and adds to the enjoyment of time taken to enjoy my visit.. coffee is perfect and the Carrot cake is impossible to resist.. I always sit outside as I get hot and they are nothing but warm and welcoming.. and always over enjoyed I bring my cup inside when I'm done .. its no bother I'm given to politeness , when such is given genuinely from the staff..

A great little coffee house. With seating inside and out, the coffee is fantastic and the food matches. The staff are incredibly friendly even during clearly very busy hours. If you’re looking for a great coffee from a great bunch of people this is the place to be.

So surprised to see reciews about friendly stuff. The tall man was nothing but unfriendly to me. Coffee was cold and I highlight its very confusing to have two different card machine as I paid tip rather than the bill by mistake, later he was repeating what I said to his colleague behind coffee shop and laughing about it. Felt quite rude and unwelcomed.

The best coffee in the Watford area without a shadow of doubt. I've spent a long time drinking espresso across London over the past couple of decades and many coffee house fall short of expectation. Villiers always delivers and they also use Origin beans which I love personally. Always busy and great food, but get food early as they always sell out.

Good atmosphere for coffee lovers and staff are nice and affordable pricing with good food.I enjoyed the Capachino I ordered at Idle Hands Coffee.

A nice little place to go for coffee & cake with plenty of seating Inside & out. Toilet facility was very clean Also make up rolls of various types. We will certainly go there again You would not know it used to be a local post office!

Chai lattes are disappointing (bland and lacking aroma); the cakes and sandwiches are very popular (they don’t make enough) - usually mostly gone by 12:30. The few I’ve tried have been excellent. Coffee okay and service good. Good for a short stop, especially if the weather permits an outside table, and get in early for the snacks!

Great place to come for a chilled business meeting or evening a working day. Staff are lovely and the sandwiches are outstanding.

If you're looking for a local, independent coffee place away from the usual homogeneous high-street chains, then this is worth a punt. I had a decent Latte, a tasty Millionaire shortbread, and their prices are very comparable to the usual coffee places.

It's quickly become my favourite coffee house in Watford/surrounding area. A great vibe, really friendly staff and local and frequent customers, and most important if all, really great coffee.

A real bonus for Oxhey village. Great coffee and delicious food albeit getting rather pricey, £8:30 for a salt beef bagel seems a bit steep but it was very tasty.

Nice friendly staff but like most places nowadays very expensive, well it is if you are trying to live on a Government Pension. You may think differently if still able to work and earn an income. Extra large Mocca Coffee with a double shot £4.60. Too rich for my pocket but to each their own. You may think this is reasonably priced. Very busy so that has to be a good sign of it's popularity.

One of my favourite local spot for coffee. Staff is super friendly and the vibe of that place is great. It is walking distance from me so not an issue but for others parking can be a bit of a pain.

A lovely neighbourhood refreshment stop. Some outside seating. Dog friendly. Good coffee. I saw cake and sandwiches as well. It's down a narrow 2 way road so be patient if driving. Enjoy

Great coffee shop in a lovely setting. I have been here a number of times at different times of day and it's always busy! That's a good sign, as they get everything right! The staff are all lovely, the coffee is always the right temperature and smooth, you have to travel a long way to find a better cup of Joe!

Too expensive for a little back water coffee shop, £7.30 for a cup of coffee and s tiny slice of Bakewell tart is just too much even in these expensive times, I won't be returning. Coffee was quite nice.

Delightfully creamy and rich flat white and a very naughty but nice rocky road. A surprise bump into someone I know as well. Staff were efficient and friendly decor is cool and trendy. Coffee was lovely as was the cake :)

Walking 30 mins just for a cup of coffee and it is worth it! The flat white is perfect, and salt beef bagel is a recommend too, 5/5 for everything! I can see myself going back here every weekend. Such a gem!

Shocking. Had to wait ten minutes to order. One person who was in front of me. Ordered two coffees and a cake. No one else in shop. Went back in to ask about our coffees. He had forgot to make them. Then made some lame excuse. Won't be going back. Very poor

Great to have this as a local coffee shop, nice coffee - very much a village feel, snails pace etc so don’t be in a rush for said coffee :) Looks like it should be in hoxton, chilled vibe and ok to work from.

Excellent Flat White. Very crisp and crumbly croissant. Enjoyed it!

What makes a good flat white? The bean? The machine? The milk? Well yes, but the beverage is only as good as it’s barista, and Villiers have the best of both. If you’re looking for a friendly, local and chilled out coffee house then look no further for miles! I’m a coffee fiend and a little snobbish when it comes to my flat white. These baristas are artists in taste and presentation, so no matter if there’s a 10 person queue or not it’s worth waiting for. 5 stars, all day, everyday !
