What a great restaurant. Lovely food, friendly staff and fantastic building. I had the mixed Sunday roast - chicken, pork an beef with the trimmings - brilliant.

Lovely restaurant, the menu didn’t have a huge choice but we had the sharing steak meal and it was outstanding. Great atmosphere perfect for couples.

We booked one of The Falcon's private dining rooms for my dads 60th Birthday. We went during Sunday lunch time and enjoyed several courses of delicious food, cooked to perfection. They were kind enough to also let us arrive prior to our booking in order to decorate the room for my dad (aka balloons and banners everywhere!). The staff were all absolutely lovely and accommodating to all of our needs. I would definitely recommend to anyone, whether you are looking just for a Sunday roast, or would like to hire out the private dining rooms for a special occasion. The pub itself is very classic, the decor perfectly British and it sits in an ideal location in the lovely little town of Buntingford.

We had a lovely lunch here at 2pm on a Friday. The food was excellent and so was the service. We enjoyed being made so welcome and will definitely be returning 👍

Went to the Falcon for a Birthday Celebration lunch on a Sunday - easy parking on High Street and to rear of restaurant , lovely Village High Street location . Very welcoming and friendly staff , cannot speak highly enough of them ...and the food was absolutely spot on ! both in terms of quantity and more importantly quality . Every course hit the mark , although my personal stand out was the roast pork shoulder....the 11 of us who attended all agreed it is a great venue , great food and we will be returning very soon.

We recently visited the Falcon for the Burns night celebrations and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food together with its presentation was excellent and service discreet and professional. The management made themselves known and added to the pleasure of the whole occasion would unhesitatingly recommend it to others and have already booked for Valentines night

Our mains were fine but we all ordered the pie and they had run out! So one of us had to have something else and this is on an early time on a Saturday night! Ordered pear tatin and is was just a sloppy mess of sticky toffee pudding with pears in it. Crazy as there was sticky toffee pudding on the menu? It’s was not nice. Very misleading ad I told the member of staff and her response wasn’t very apologetic to be honest. No return for us!!

I’ve been planning to come here for over a year and finally got round to it, and I wasn’t disappointed. Great service on arrival, friendly staff with a welcoming manner. The food was amazing, well cooked, fresh and full of flavour. Three courses eaten and all were superb. The beef Wellington was a masterpiece!!! Head chef/owner came out to say hi and was also very friendly. The restaurant itself is really cosy and romantic. We are 100% coming back!!!

I came for lunch at the Falcon on Friday afternoon with my partner and parents and we had the most wonderful experience. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful - so quirky and cosy but really tastefully done. The service we received was fabulous, the lady paid so much attention to us, recommended dishes and drinks that she likes, and made us feel so welcome. The food was 10/10, everything cooked to perfection and the chef Kieran even popped out into the restaurant and thanked us for our compliments. There was an older couple in there who clearly visited regularly and both the chef and one of the waitresses took the time to sit and chat to them which was lovely. We will definitely be returning and thank everyone there for making our experience so lovely.

We celebrated our parents diamond wedding anniversary at The Falcon . It couldn’t have been a more perfect experience. Kieren , his team and the brilliant Vanessa could not have been more welcoming . They came up with the perfect menu bringing in all of our favourite ingredients , they managed all of the dietary needs with ease , nothing was too much trouble and the food was completely glorious ….thank you so much for making the day so special . Can’t wait to come back for a Sunday lunch .

Great find in Buntingford High St . Quirky , intimate but spacious and the food and service were supreb

Been to the Falcon a few times, always had a good experiance. Friendly staff, good selection of quality wine, menu that changes with specials. On my last visit I had the Beef Wellington which is one of the best i've ever had. Great presentation, perfectly cooked fillet of beef, great falvour, crusty pasty, no soggy bottom, creamy mash. Only downside being I was too full for desert! Highly reccomended, best evening restuarent in Buntingford by a country mile.

I recently arranged a special family lunch at The Falcon in Buntingford to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was truly a fantastic experience. Kieran, the chef, went above and beyond to assist us by providing personalised menu recommendations and ensuring our preferences were met. The restaurant also provided us with a private dining room, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a cozy and intimate setting. The staff members were incredibly friendly, helpful, and engaging, making us feel welcomed and taken care of throughout our visit. The food itself was outstanding, with a diverse range of starters that included delectable options like baked Camembert and whole prawns. The standout dish for me was the beef Wellington, which was prepared to perfection and stands as one of the best I've ever had. To top it all off, the lemon meringue pie we had for dessert was an absolute delight. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Kieran and his amazing team for creating such a memorable and enjoyable birthday lunch.

This lovely intimate restaurant is set in the middle of a small historic town. The very old building has retained original features with traditional beams and wooden floors and divided into different areas to eat. The staff were excellent and the menu not overwhelming with the best of ingredients used. The food was excellent and portions plentiful with reasonable prices.

We had by far one of the best Sunday lunches that we have ever had. The service was impeccable and the quality of the food was simply outstanding. The 6 of us sat upstairs and this experience finished of a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be back again soon.

The team kindly designed a special 3 course vegan meal for my husband and I for my birthday, the meal was delicious/ the atmosphere was lovely / the service impeccable.. I will recommend to friends who might be in the area. A special restaurant.

We met friends here for lunch. The restaurant is in a listed building, and the atmosphere and ambiance are charming. Staff were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.We had a good selection of starters, main courses and desserts. Everything was well prepared, well presented and tasted good.Well worth a visit.

Visited this restaurant for a Sunday lunch treat and were not disappointed. We chose the Roast Suffolk Chicken and Slow Roasted Rump both of which were delicious but the highlight was the Apple Tart Tatin!

I have visited before in the seated restaurant and found the service and food very good. So I decided to try the takeaway, ordered fish and chips but the food was dry and not very nice at all. Was so looking forward to it too and left disappointed. Will not bother with their takeaway but hope to try the seated restaurant again when possible.

Came across The Falcon whilst looking at houses in Buntingford. Lovely to see them making the most of the lockdown with a comprehensive take away service. It was only tea, coffee and snacks for us this time but will surely return again for something more substantial. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Given the brisk business they were doing it must be a popular venue, a good sign.

We were married on August 12th the last blazing hot day of our Covid summer.Restrictions meant that numbers were limited and we took the opportunity to go to The Falcon in Buntingford where Kieran and team had designed a wedding feast for us.We shared scallops with black pudding, smoked eel fennel salad, prawns, crab on freshly made toasted ciabatta for starters.For mains we had a superb venison with Res cabbage and apple, superb sides and a glorious sauce.Pudding was a chocolate and cherry delight.... the Team were friendly, helpful, delightful. Thank you for making our very special day even better.

There are some restaurants that have failed to adapt to lockdown - The Falcon is not one of these. The restaurant introduced a range of take-away meals during these trying times.We had a meal of:Charcuterie - deliciousBeef bourguignonne - excellentSticky toffee pudding - to die forAll the above with really friendly service - what more could one ask for.

This restaurant is working hard to keep locals happy in lockdown. Had a great takeaway, fish and chips and boeuf bourgignon absolutely delicious

I was recommended to go to this restaurant by a friend and omg we went Wednesday evening and it was truly outstanding, the owner/chef staff service was spot on so booked for Sunday lunch and wow wow wow amazing local produce again wonderful little touches like beautiful table wear the most friendly staff and really outstanding food, I will highly recommend any to give this little gem a go, can’t wait to go again Thank you Mrs M

This intimate small restaurant is in the heart of a very attractive small hertfordshire town.Its broken up into different areas to eat, using the upstairs too. One side acts as a deli and coofee shop during the day with table and chairs outside. Staff very friendly and space between tables and sanitisers to use. The menu is interesting and not too overwhelming. . Our food was served piping hot with the best of ingredients and the mussels were the best I have tasted. Wish the Falcon was in our village.

This was a place we had been meaning to visit long before now. Limited menu, grandson went to Sainsburys next door! The soup was lovely but it did not come with any bread which we had to pay an extra £3.50 for. The fish and chips was nice but not worth £17.50. The total bill for three, two people had two courses, one person had one came to just over £90. Staff were very pleasant but overall a disappointing visit, just glad we had the 'eat to save deal.

My friend and I met here simply because it was a half way point, and reviews seemed good. Lovely little restaurant, absolutely delicious food, exceptional, friendly service. Sadly it isn't somewhere I would return to until the pandemic is over as there were no signs of acknowledging it's existence.. not enough distance, no masks or visors, no sanitizer, staff standing really close over you for a chat. We realised after a while that it was odd but were half way through the meal and decided to stay, but not convinced it was very safe. Perhaps stupid to have stayed really but I'd driven a long way...Shame as any other time is say it was a great find and perfect for a meal and catch up with a good friend.

I arranged for a party of 38 for Sunday lunch yesterday for my birthday at the Falcon which was absolutely fantast, from the first conversation with Natasha and Katie I felt they knew exactly how to deal with such a large group. We had a lot of change along the way which the team dealt with extremely well. On the day Katie was there to meet us and explained how the space can be used and timings for food. The day was fantastic, the food was perfect and we all came away suggesting we will come back so that you very much to all the team and we look forward to coming back to see you very soon.

Booked a dinner here to celebrate my son and husband’s birthdays. The mussel starters were very bland, however my terrine was very tasty but rather a large slab. The steaks were well cooked but presentation would not win any awards. Deserts were good, but nothing special. They ran out of the red wine we were drinking, and overall I couldn’t see us ever returning. Such a shame as the website promised so much.

This is our fourth or fifth visit and it’s always very good. This one was to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary and the food and service were excellent as always. However, living some 300 feet away, I walk past the Falcon several times a day and the menu hasn’t changed much in some time. My wife says it’s “safe” which is not always the best endorsement for a restaurant. Come on, let’s try something new...

This is a lovely little restaurant located on Buntingford High Street.Food cannot be faulted neither can the service or friendliness of staff.Don't get me wrong, this is not a cheap or mid range restaurant but it is well worth the price paid. Whilst I live some 20 mins away, I will definitely eat here again in the near future.

Every visit here has been very enjoyable.Apart from the wonderful decor,the service is warm,friendly,but not intrusive.Now my favourite place for a celebratory meal.

First visit to this restaurant since moving to Buntingford. We were a group of 3. One had the beef and two of us opted for the Chicken. Everything was beautifully cooked and delicious. The wine we chose was the Rioja...which was also lovely. Service was great. Nothing bad to say. Deserts were also superb. Will definitely be going back.

Great family meal in the beautiful upstairs room. Steaks had been kept for 2 younger grandsons and they were delicious, mussels perfect! The rest of the food was excellent and they went out of their way to accommodate some of our choices. We will be back. Thank you

Staff at The Falcon couldn't have been more welcoming. They helped us last minute with a group booking that fell through and then made so much effort to make us feel welcome. The private room upstairs is spectacular, and with food of such a high standard and fantastic quality, our experience couldn't have been any better.

Went to the Falcon yesterday with a couple of friends. It’s a lovely, cosy little place where we got a warm welcome from Natasha and her staff. Food-wise a small but interesting menu. We had mussels, salmon rillette and ham hock all of which was great. Steaks and beef pie for main were perfect for a cold night. Highly recommend

We visited the falcon on a themed evening in May, we were treated to a fabulous night by the hostess Natasha. We were served a fixed menus with carefully selected wines. It was brilliant we can’t recommend it enough.

We went with friends who live in the village and frequent this restaurant on a regular basis. Having now enjoyed a superb meal we can understand why they keep going back. The food was excellent, great flavours and generous portions. I started with Salmon, followed by an enormous Steak & Kidney pie and then shared a Tarte Tatin, supposedly for 2 people, but could have easily been for 4. Natasha was a great host.

We went with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday this weekend. As a previous vistor and reviewer, I was even more impressed on this occasion. As usual the food was excellent, seasonal, great flavours and good portion sizes. Highlights were the bread, panna cotta with plums and a fabulous beef rib. Service from Natasha and her team was slick, personal and so relaxed. We are so happy to travel the 20+ miles for such a great expereince.

We wanted a trip out of London and had read excellent reviews of The Falcon, so wanted to give it a try. The salmon was outstanding and it was an utter relief to have a high quality, well priced roast. I’m afraid we also had pudding, and it was ridiculous - so good! We have very full tummies but will be returning for the à la carte menu in the near future. Service was warm and friendly. Also, try the rhubarb gin!

A delightful restaurant, hosted by chef Kieren and Natasha. Great ambiance and perfectly delicious food. My gluten & dairy free intolerance was absolutely no problem. Just wish we lived closer.

We visited this restaurant on Saturday evening and were wowed with the decor and atmosphere, the attention to detail is truly inspirational. The food was outstanding with a good range of seasonal dishes to choose from. The service was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend a visit.

The beautiful and traditional decor makes for a wonderful setting for the best roast dinner we have had in a restaurant. The food is cooked so well and beef melts in the mouth!

Being used to lunches in town (Scott’s, Sheeky’s etc) I was over the moon to have my wife’s birthday dinner so locally with quality and service you would not expect from local town restaurant. The Falcon’s food and ambience is second to none. It’s the second time my wife and I have visited and has only improved since our last visit (which we also enjoyed very much). The mussels and bisque for starter was the best I’ve ever tasted! The lemon sole was super fresh and utterly delicious. Perfect service throughout our evening. High quality & simple ingredients prepared with real skill made for a fabulous evening 10/10 and then some.

We've had lovely dinners at The Falcon before, but today we tried the Sunday roast and it was one of the best we've had. Delicious once more!

Charming service and lovely old listed building. Unfortunately the mussels in the mussels starter were too small, but the sauce and the bread were very good. The steak and the fish and chips were faultless. Desserts too were spot on. The only real disappointment was the 12.5% discretionary service charge that was automatically added to the bill. I said I would like to pay for the total only and I would leave a cash tip. There was a bit of fuss as they had to go away and create a new bill without the service charge. My recommendation is to remove this please, it took the edge off a very pleasant evening and I would have awarded 5/5 otherwise.

This restaurant is absolutely floorless, me and my babe had steak sharing and WOWWOWWEWA it was fantastic. The service; polite with a hint of flirtation but in good taste all things considered. Visited this charming restaurant last Sunday for lunch with friends. Varied menu choice, delicious food and attentive service. Would highly recommend.

We just had the privelage of experiencing The Falcon’s 1970’s themed tasting evening. The sitting began with a glass of champagne and was followed by the initial course of Chicken Kievs in a mushroom sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was complemented perfectly with the sauce. We then had a refreshing prawn & crayfish cocktail which was paired with a glass of Picpoul and then feasted on a stunning beef wellington which I must say was divine and went down very well with a glass of red. The service was outstanding and compliments must go to both Natasha & Kieren for looking after us and providing such a memorable evening.

Firstly I would like to say that at the planning stage of this Celebration Lunch absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Natasha and her Partner Kieren (The Chef) were full of good ideas and suggestions. Apart from the fact the food was absolutely delicious, it is quite clear that they have taken the trouble to train their staff properly, as we were a party of sixteen it was important to get the service right.This is a particular bug bear of mine as so often small local establishments employ teenagers who unless properly trained don't really understand good service. Our party included five children and everyone was perfectly catered for. This is the first time I have been moved to write a review. I would love to see this charming couple make a success of their business, which they could with our support. Please try and see for yourself! Definitely the best place to eat locally.

Discreetly tucked away in Buntingford High Street; an unsung hero of the restaurants in Hertfordshire. Wonderful food, cooked perfectly and expertly combined with fabulous wines. A food lovers delight. The ambience is good and the service attentive and helpful - just the right balance. The best meal we have had in the UK for a long while. I am already looking forward to our next visit.

This is definitely a restaurant to visit if you like tasty beautifully cooked food. The host Natasha is warm and friendly. This restaurant is a great addition to the area and is a fab place to go for a classy dinner out.

When I booked the table I asked for lots of gravy. That's exactly what I got and it was delicious!

My husband and I visited, for my birthday, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Our service was superb and we were even given a complimentary glass of bubbles to celebrate!

We attended the Falcon in Buntingford for Mother’s Day lunch and were seated on a spacious table on the ground floor of the restaurant. I decided to go for the Crispy Suffolk Ham Hock Terrine, which was perfectly cooked and went down an absolute treat with a glass of Mapmaker Sauvignon Blanc. For my main course I went for the Roast Beef. Compliments must be paid to the Chef for the fine quality of the meat and accoutrements. The beef was tender and delicious and the roast potatoes were the perfect combination of slightly crispy yet also fluffy. The vegetables and cauliflower cheese were also sublime and I must add the portion size was very generous. The sticky toffee pudding was the perfect way to round off the meal and was full of flavour and wasn’t too rich. Service overall was extremely efficient and the staff made us feel right at home. In conclusion, I recommend this restaurant to all food lovers and will be returning very soon for one of the newly announced tasting evenings.

Excellent food, well prepared with lots of flavour. Menu content and choice is good; big menus are not necessary! Beetroot and goats cheese was executed well, great bread. Roast beef and Pork belly were good, no room for dessert. Very good coffee. Would highly reccomend and will return very frequently.

We visited your restaurant last night for a birthday celebration. The food was fantastic and the service excellent and the staff made extra effort to make the birthday special. We are now booking for Sunday lunch.

Food is excellent quality however the menu choice is extremely limited and dishes are served requiring a 'side' order to make a balanced dish. £4 for a few lettuce leaves torn into a dish or 4 small new potatoes is very expensive. The pies are just filling with a pastry top, not a proper pie. We've visited twice since the restaurant opened before Xmas and had hoped the second visit would be an improvement on the first. Service can be a bit hit and miss which doesn't justify the added 12.5% service charge. I understand this charge is discretionary but it's difficult to remove it if not satisfied. It would be much more acceptable to tip as you feel appropriate rather than feeling you're being bullied into the 12.5% charge.

What a wonderful find! The building has been faultlessly and sympathetically restored with the most amazing stained glass featuring as dividers, allowing for more privacy between tables. We went for a family lunch to the Falcon to celebrate my birthday, and I wasn’t expecting such fabulous food and such a lovely atmosphere. We shared starters so I was able to sample many wonderful flavours. The goat’s cheese starter was my favourite - absolutely delicious. I had the sausage for my main course, and rhubarb for dessert, both of which were full of wonderful flavours. The service was thoughtful and warm but unrushed. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Evening achieved what we had been looking forward too. Cosy setting,helpful staff.(bit quick serving each course). Food tasty, Cote de bouef succulent & tasty, sauce worked well. Could do with some veg sides to colour the plate.

This is a beautifully presented restaurant- however the food did not meet our expectations . On our first visit we put it down to it only being open a short time but on our second visit it had not changed . The food is alright but it does not make you want to return and for what we had it was expensive .The meal was forgettable which is a shame - it all needs more flavour .

My husband and I recently had dinner at The Falcon and had a thoroughly lovely evening. The building has been decorated and re-designed beautifully, with sectioned off areas with beautiful glass panelled wood that makes dining quiet and personal. We started with mussels and the largest starter of smoked salmon we have ever had. Followed by beef bourguignon and duck cottage pie - both were epic. The mash potato I think was made by an angel - it was that good :) We stupidly ordered dessert even though we were stuffed and had the cheese board (hope you are getting your cheese from Toby at the Cheese plate?!) and sticky toffee pudding, both beautiful but we were stuffed at this point. We will be returning lots :)

We had a great evening meal at this restaurant which has recently been taken over by husband and wife team Kieren and Natasha Steinborn-Busse as chef and front of house.

I was really disappointed with my meal here. The menu was limited with only 4 options for the main course. My starter had too much oil on the top which ruined it. My main of pork belly had a lot of gristle on it, which I do not expect when I am paying £18 for just a piece of pork and some lentils. I ordered some new potatoes on the side and they were not cooked properly and the portion size was minuscule. My partner’s dish was a half-filled pie dish with a lid of pastry which again did not warrant the £17 price tags.

My husband and I had a delicious meal on our first visit to The Falcon on Valentines Day. The staff were charming and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant, although we did think the tables were very close together - maybe this was just because it was Valentines evening and high demand?

We had an excellent lunch here yesterday, front of house staff charming, welcoming and very attentive. Great choice of dishes, I had one of the vegetarian options for my main which was outstanding and the best chocolate fondant I've ever eaten. Highly recommend dining here, you won't be disappointed!

We had Sunday lunch whish was sublime. We started with the Suffolk Mussels - Yum oh so fresh, followed by the "to die for" Roast beef and trimmings. Nothing was too much trouble and service good. Minor gripe and a bit of bug bear of mine, when 12.5% service charge is added to your bill. Service is discretionary and a gratuity. But this did not overshadow a truly wonderful experience with fabulous food. Finally the coffee is amazing. I rarely drink coffee out and about because it always disappoints (unless you're in Italy), but not at the Falcon. Lovely. Thank you The Falcon.

It was our first visit and will certainly not be our last. The food was first class. The staff attentive and definitely on the ball. Gary and his team are worthy of gold stars.

Lovely evening at the Falcon - brilliant addition to the area! Service and atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed our food.

Visited the new Falcon for lunch. A short menu, reflecting the fresh and seasonal nature of the food. Really exceptional cote de beouf, locally sourced and reasonably priced. Attentive service and real attention has been paid to the decor. Two super private dining rooms upstairs would be super for larger parties. Wheelchair accessible toilet too.

My wife and I went with our daughter and her husband to The Falcon just before Christmas to celebrate his birthday. The restaurant had only been open three weeks and we were keen to try out the first upmarket restaurant in Buntingford since the demise of The Buntingford Kitchen two years ago. The Falcon is located in the same premises as The Buntingford Kitchen but has extended the number of tables, so our hope is that this will ensure that it is able to survive when The Buntingford Kitchen didn't.

Went here in December for Sunday lunch. Lovely restaurant, staff all welcoming and friendly. Food was all beautifully served , looked lovely on the plate. The roast beef was perfect. In fact it was all really good. Wine and food both reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the whole visit.

We’ve seen them come and go in this location- the third restaurant on this site in 25 years, so we thought we’d give it a go on a cold December night.
