Mint Cafe in East Hertfordshire

I don’t visit very often , may be once a month , but when I do visit , I am certainly not disappointed . This morning I had a Bacon and Fried egg sandwich . It was excellent and generously filled with the bacon . The bread had an excellent taste too . The staff are always cheerful and friendly when I visit

An absolute gem in a lovely courtyard setting. A warm welcome from the staff and a charming cosy cafe on a very cold day. Most welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious. Thank you for looking after us so well.

An excellent place to visit , the food is freshly prepared and served to your table . The waiting staff are friendly and will go the extra mile . The sandwiches come with a choice of fresh bread A well recommended establishment

Mint Cafe offer delivery of afternoon teas to your home they did just that for 10 of us. Delivered bang on time. The sandwiches & cakes & extras are really fresh & tasty. We were amazed at the quantity & quality delivered. This is a great way of having a mini celebration. We would definitely recommend Mint Cafe.

Came Sunday morning for Breakfast, asked to take off hash browns as I can have onions and replace with small portion of fries! Wife had ordered New York pancakes and both had drinks so about £30, Was meet with we don’t do substitutes!!!! You can order extra chips and leave the hash browns on the plate! Really in this day & age, just trying to squeeze an extra couple of £££ out of us. Asked the lady in charge why and was told company policy, so we left with our £30 before they started cooking. Very rude and don’t make sense the over £2 you would let £30 walk out. This is a very small place and surely customer is king! Not in there pound notes king

An excellent lunch was enjoyed by my partner , her mother and myself . The sandwiches were “overfilled” with Chicken , Mayonnaise and Sweetcorn . My partner’s pancakes and fruit , were excellent too . Well recommended

Popped in after getting caught in the rain with my 2yr old and 6 month old. 2 Yr old had fallen in a puddle and was soaked. The staff were so so helpful and got me a table, helped me bring my things through, held the baby while I changed the 2yr old and even put his socks and trousers in the dryer for me! Food was lovely and service was absolutely above and beyond and the atmosphere in the cafe was lovely as a result. How lucky we are to have it on our doorstep in Sawbridgeworth. Thank you to all at Mint Cafe.

My Lady Friend , Mother and I visited for an early lunch Most impressed ( again ) by the Top Quality Food and the friendly staff , who went the “extra mile” to sort my dietary requirements. The Sandwiches were “over filled” , the Drinks ( Tea , Coffee and a Milk Shake ) were excellent too . All in all a well recommended establishment

We popped in for breakfast and were extremely impressed. This cafe is a delight and so friendly. The full English was amazing, but the Turkish breakfast is even better. An amazing selection of ingredients with wonderful Turkish bread, highly recommended. The coffee is also good!! We will definitely be back to this amazing cafe tucked away in a delightful courtyard.

The staff were miserable and rude. Ordered a full English but didn’t want one item and was told immediately we don’t do swaps or substitutes. Asked for hash browns was told you only get one. The bacon was undercooked the sausage was cut in half as they clearly can’t probe the temp of it to make sure they’re cooked. The beans were all over the plate the black pudding was so over cooked it was crispy and the eggs were horrendous. Also it was £12 including a tea…

Such a lovely cafe. Always gives me a holiday feel when I visit and the sun is out:-) Friendly staff, great menu, seating inside and out with outdoor heating if needed. I visit fairly regularly as it's so lovely.

Popped in here yesterday whilst visiting sawbridgworth , for a bit of brunch and was so pleased that I did. I plumped for the £8 brekky & an Americano , both of which were v tasty and excellent value. The staff were warm and friendly & the atmosphere was inviting. If you’re in the area, give them a go, you won’t be disappointed

Full English breakfast the best in the area 2 eggs 2 bacon 1 very nice sausage tomatoes beans mushroom slice of toast and tea for under 8 quid bargain.

Slow service but some good ideas in the menu. Just need to learn to execute the recipes better. Friendly staff who are too passive and need to focus more on their customers etc…

Moved to Sawbridgeworth in September and so glad we found this little gem! Staff are all friendly and attentive. Food and coffee are spot on!! And not forgetting the amazing sweet boxes they do!!

As a regular customer for my ‘flat white, with caramel, extra shot’ i was keen to mix things up and ask the owner to make something a little different, without hesitation she was up for the challenge - i was not disappointed! Always great to see the Mint Cafe Crew as they are a friendly & likeable bunch! A* - Mint Cafe!

This is the second time I have used Mint Cafe for afternoon tea boxes. They have been incredible both times. We ordered on the phone and the staff were so helpful and were happy to customise the boxes to suit us. I was able to collect the boxes quickly and safely. The food inside was fantastic - so much variety and worth every penny! Ideal as a gift for Birthdays. Thank you so much. I would highly recommend and will be using these guys again.

A great little cafe for the Sawbridgeworth community. Always a friendly face to greet you and talkative with my 5 year old, great traditional fry up which is more than reasonably priced.

For my wife's birthday a good friend got us the afternoon tea from the Mint. I have to say it was very nice. 2 sandwiches on lovely fresh bread. Lots of cakes , scones, cream and jam, with a lovely touch of a birthday card included. Very good value and very nice food. The owner is a lovely friendly lady who works hard at making this one of the best cafés in Sawbridgeworth

I have been going regularly since I started working from home during lockdown in March and this place is brilliant! The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend the 'New Yorker' (pancakes, scrambled eggs & streaky bacon), they do the best bacon sandwiches this side of Mars, and the coffee is the best in Sawbridgeworth! Em, Helen, Sarah & Kim are also very friendly and provide excellent service - nothing is too much trouble. So if you are in Sawbridgeworth & fancy a cuppa or a bite to eat then go find them in Bakers Walk - you won't regret it! ... :-)

I didn't use to go to mint cafe very much until lock down. Iv now been 4 times in 2 days!! I absolutely love the choice of food but the take away hallumi salad and the granola in a pot to go is the best iv tried for years. Fresh, good flavours and very generous servings. Iv had 3 afternoon tea boxes that are packed full of goodies that my family of 4 struggled to finish ! If you want fresh flavour filled food, I truly recommend the Mint Cafe, Sawbridgeworth.

I usually take my Mum out for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday but obviously things are very different this year - so when I saw the beautiful boxes from Mint Cafe I ordered a surprise Brunch & Afternoon Tea for her! It was easy to order from the website and there are options for the sandwich choices, the boxes were delivered at the stated time. Everything was yummy and looked so pretty, she loved it!!

Popped in for an egg roll for breakfast. Short wait, friendly staff and delicious egg roll. Prices are super too. Highly recommended

After seeing that mint was doing afternoon tea lockdown boxes a couple of friends and I decided to give it a try! Ordering was very easy however when it came to collecting it, it was a very stressful experience. We were walking down the alleyway by budgens and the lady from the cafe bumped into my friend walking past (Not very socially distant) but we kept walking round.When we got to the window where people were being served there was a few people sitting around and one person in the queue. The lady who had previously bumped into my friend came running back round and apologised to the lady in front. (I believe they were having problems with their till or something.) it must have taken about 10 minutes to serve the lady in front who hadn’t ordered much at all. When it came to us as we had preordered our afternoon tea to be collected at a certain time we thought it would be pretty quick. We were wrong. At first she couldn’t find our order then she didn’t know how much to charge us and charged us too little so we told her that she wasn’t charging us enough for it and she was fiddling around with the till at a stressed pace. We had the exact change so this process really shouldn’t have been that difficult. When we finally managed to get out of there we sat down at a local park to eat. There was very little savoury items in it. It was a very sweet afternoon tea box and could have even done with a couple crisps or something. There was a pastry which was really oily and all three of us couldn’t eat it. There was a lot of our boxes left at the end. All in all I would say: not a good experience with the owner of the business and the food wasn’t even worth the aggravation we had to go through to get it.

Picked up an amazing afternoon tea box for two today - it was absolutely delicious, great value for money and very filling! Makes for a perfect present during lockdown and very easy to order direct from their website. Would definitely recommend.

My sons twelfth birthday couldn't take him anywhere nice, so ordered this last night for delivery today, so nice and so much in the box, well worth the money, thank you so much xx

Just wanted to say thank you for our order. Me, my mum and 2 sisters had a (social distancing) afternoon tea today and it was SO lovely. The boxes were filled to the top with delicious food and we enjoyed every mouthful! Thank you for such a wonderful service at such a difficult time; you certainly helped make our day. There we were in another day of lockdown. My wife’s birthday. A knock on our door led to the surprise delivery of a box. In the box, which had no markings was a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones, sweets, cakes, baclava, fancies, clotted cream and jam!!! Who sent this, where was it from??? We knew it must be for the wife for the birthday.A phone call from the sister in law to confirm the delivery answered our questions. She had ordered it from the Mint Cafe as a birthday treat for her sister.And boy what a birthday treat!!!!Superb quality throughout. Almost everything homemade. The prawn and the smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches were delicious. In fact everything was delicious. A great surprise, and a really thoughtful gift at this time. Great credit to the Mint Cafe, an absolute delight. Thoroughly recommend the afternoon tea as a treat for oneself or a pressie for someone, just as happened with us. Congrats to the Mint Cafe, wonderful idea in these troubled times of Lockdown.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Owner no idea how to run friendly cafe. Staff appear frightened of her. Not the usual jokey loving staff. Orders taken longtime to wait for order. Just a coffee. Orders for outside customers take priority.

Great food, great experience and lovely staff. I had a full english and every part of it was lovely, to my knowledge this is the best breakfast in hertfordshire. They use Dorringtons bread and churchgate sausages too. Will be going back for sure.

Have visited the Mint Cafe a number of times over the last few years and have noticed that there has been a decline in the service quality. Last few visits have had ordered drinks that are then missed and have to remind staff of what we ordered. Food quality is generally very good and a good selection of food, although not a big fan of the new sausages :( Generally is a nice cafe to visit although I think there needs to be some focus on the customer service which could greatly improve future visits

So today I went to mint cafe with my friend we sat down and ordered waited 40 mins then for the owner to rudely approach me and said to get out as I’m rude and not allowed in here all due because of a feedback I left a few back I feel very intimidated and embarrassed as it was totally unprofessional

After doing my food shopping, on the way home saw the little cafe and yes Great food, good friendly staff and clean. Happy would definitely recommend 😊😊

The Mint Cafe is just like going around your friends for something to eat but the only difference is the excellent customer service! Since it’s been under new management it has really exceeded all expectations and is always bustling. Will be back for sure.....although my tight fitting clothes don’t agree!haha

Not usually a 'pie person' but recent chicken and mushroom pie midday at The Mint was super-tasty with marvellous pastry; coffee not half bad either :)

Came here for breakfast on my birthday, had to wait 20 mins because cafe appeared to be preparing food for somewhere offsite and just did not have time for customers sitting at tables. Full English included pallid battery hen eggs (no excuse not to serve free range), remainder of breakfast components were also cheapest of the cheap catering quality, Sausages cooked brown on one side, still white on the other. I'm not a food snob but don't was to be fed cheap nasty food by people who clearly don't care.

Was a pleasure at mint cafe - food was perfect - staff were more than helpful. The new owner Ems is a delight and makes the cafe so welcoming. Highly recommended!!!!

Just had breakfast at this amazing little gem of a cafe and ordered mushroom and bacon omelette. The service was wonderful and the breakfast was exceptional. I would totally recommend this place.

I’ve been into The Mint Cafe a few times now & am never disappointed. The food is always excellent & the staff are friendly & helpful. The bubble & squeak is my favourite, one of the best I’ve had!

We have visited this cafe lots of times under its many owners. It has always been great but today the service was truly awful. Despite 4 people behind the counter it took ages to get our order taken then although the drinks arrived fairly quickly our non cooked food of sandwiches and salad took about 20 mins to arrive and the cafe was not particularly busy. At the till we were ignored and it took 2 requests to get someone to take our money. Will think twice before returning. Such a shame.

My husband enjoyed a coffee and delicious scone in this tiny cafe yesterday while I was at hospital and we returned today for a light lunch .

I booked a table last minute for a Mother’s Day breakfast, staff were really friendly, the food was excellent! And they are child friendly as well! A hidden little gem ! Wasn’t too expensive either, will definitely be coming back

Met my daughter there for breakfast on Wednesday around 9.15 am.Good extensive breakfast menu and they were flexible as to requirements.

A resident of Sawbo for 15+ years and seen many incarnations of this cafe over the years. Food and menu are simple but tasty with generous portions. Cafe is small as is menu so food is served fairly quickly though its always a hive of activity regardless of the amount of customers in the cafe which due to its size can make dining here slightly irratable !!!

We love Mint, excellent choice of lunch specials and sandwiches. Very pleasant and helpful staff. We are made to feel welcome. Keep up the good work chaps.

If I could give it zero I would. This is a small cafe and basically we were completely ignored. We sat down and waited and could see that three people were then served after us. I dont know if its because we had a little one or they just didnt like the look of us but we walked out. The gentleman who had clearly been ignoring us came out and said 'you ok?' And I replied 'not really as you didn't serve us and was serving other people after us'. By this point the gentleman had walked away. Awful awful awful.

Go here once or twice a month for breakfast. Lovely and clean. Very friendly staff and owner. Some outside seating too.

I often meet friends here for lunch and never have any cause for complaint. Service with a smile, and a lovely lunchtime menu serving paninis, baked potatoes, salads and sandwiches. Recommended if you're ever in Sawbridgeworth.

We ordered a buffet for 80 people for a family celebration. Lesley was very understanding and reassuring from start to finish. Helpful putting the menu together, huge selection to choose from. Lesley delivered perfectly on time and supplied everything from food to plates, tablecloths, cutlery, napkins etc.

I wanted food delivered to a day boat for my family, my requirement was for breakfast lunch and afternoon tea. Lesley the owner not only delivered to the boat and excelled in the delicious menu provided. even to paper plates napkins. My guests were amazed at the quality of the food and the individual granolas were absolutely delicious.

Great vegan breakfast with proper Linda Mc sausages and Heinz beans. Excellent value for money, and the coffee comes in a mug - just what you need in the morning!

We often pop in here and it's a gem. It gets a little loud acoustically when babies/toddlers are in but for a quick "pick-me-up" it's a great stop. There's a great attention to detail, and flexibility around the menu and the owners are always friendly and accommodating.

This small and friendly cafe has got to be the best value, wholesome food for miles around. Big jacket potatoes with really generous fillings for a fiver, mince pie and cream for £1.50 and a glass of mulled wine for £2. Last time we felt this full for this price was back in the 20th century!

I met with friends who I go out with regularly for Afternoon Tea. A great selection of sandwiches,hot bite size pigs in blankets and quiches. Scone cream and jam and a selection of mini cakes including Stollen bites etc. All delightfully served on a tiered cake stand. Very good value for money indeed.

Encantador pequeño café escondido de Bell Street, para satisfacer los alergenos. El personal era amable y los precios razonables. La única crítica es que no hay menú para niños, pero por suerte mis hijos tienen un apetito saludable! ! !

I have eaten at the Mint Café many times and have brought a number of different people with me. Always they are consistently good with their service and good value tasty food.At peak times you may have to wait for a table but that is a sign of a well run establishment. They have more customers than you would expect you could fit in to their premises. Hence they have adapted and provided outside seating with blankets and heaters for the colder months.Go along you wont be disappointed. Particularly good are their range of omelettes which are light, fluffy tasty and very nutritious.

A nice little café tucked away in Bakers walk.A very nice welcome and a friendly bunch of staff. Reasonably priced food and a decent selection of old favourites available. It was a nice way to spend half an hour mid shopping and travels - Try it, you wont be disappointed.

Lovely tucked away spot off the high street in Sawbridgeworth. The staff were friendly, and I had a nice coffee which I sat with and read for a while, the cafe was constantly busy with people coming in, many of whom were getting coffee and food to take away, but there were enough staff and enough tables that I didn't feel like I was staying too long. My only (mild) criticism would be that some of the food seemed slightly expensive, but the drinks were very reasonable, and there was some cheaper food. Overall would recommend! (And I would have given 4 1/2 stars if that were possible)

Today we had a 'big breakfast' which only cost £5.95 and came with tea/coffee and toast.We thought this was very good value and it was cooked well and with good quality ingredients. The staff were friendly and the food came quickly.It will be nice to sit outside when it's warmer, and there is space to do so (some customers had their dogs with them so we may bring ours in future).We will definitely return, and it's good they open at 9am on Sunday so you can have breakfast and get on with your day instead of having to wait until 10 like some other places. They also had good music playing!

Popped in to this cafe today with my 2 year old & 5 month old. There wasn't any space inside when we arrived but as soon as a table was available they set it all up, including setting out our food, & made sure we were all comfortable. Food was lovely as always, staff (& other customers!) very friendly & so reasonably priced. Highly recommend!!

Popped in for a quick lunch, it was very busy but they made room for us, on a cold and wet day. I had homemade butternut squash soup and a lovely slice of cake, was gorgeous and well priced too. Well worth a visit.

I don't know of any cafes etc in Sawbridgeworth that allow dogs inside ( sadly) but Mint cafe welcomes them in the courtyard ( which is partially covered) and there is an outdoor heater and blankets. I've been there a couple of times recently for coffee, juice and lovely cakes with small granddaughters and,as ever, the welcome is warm and the food good. I think my girls would love the ice cream machine to remain on all winter but they'll have to wait until the spring. This cafe is very much part of the community and has a very loyal following. My dog appreciated the water and was delighted to be offered a little pot of cut up sausage on our last visit.

This café is really cosy with an excellent menu. Their veggie breakfast is brilliant. Love the coffee range they do. Great place for either a snack or a full lunch. A regular haunt for me!

Lovely little cafe, very cosy atmosphere. Rob, Michelle, Daisy & co are brilliant, always happy to deliver to us at the office down the road for lunch at no extra cost. quality meat sourced from the local butcher and their bread/rolls from the local bakers. Well deserved reputation as best cafe in Sawbo.

Every time i go to sawbridgeworth i take my grandaughters to eat there the food is excellent the staff are very friendly and the atsmosphere is great. I recommend there Prawn Salad, its so fresh and tasty where as my grandaughters prefer Victoria Sponge or a Toasted Tea cake with Milk Shakes. For those living or visiting Sawbridgeworth seek them out you wont be dissapointed, i promise. GO.
