The food was fantastic and so was the service. Everything was well cooked and obviously all home cooked. Would go there again and reccomend to my friends. Price point was very good, quality of the ingredients and being home made is still better value than the restraunt chain we sometimes eat in. Thank you

A proper, unspoilt pub with great local ales and good food. Also incredibly kind owners who helped us out in getting us home, after we had walked a few miles to the pub, then had 2 children too tired to walk home.

This is a traditional country pub, the owners are lovely and always make us feel welcome. Lots of choices including gluten free and vegetarian. The gluten free fish and chips are amazing! We have been here many times for dinner and will continue to return again and again. Nice selection of beers and cider, including local ales.

Absolutely amazing food from starter to desert. We ate here as a couple with our dog. Pre booked a table a few days in advance. Friendly and polite staff on the phone. When we arrived we were met by friendly staff, which looks to be all family members. Best garlic bread we’ve ever had, all food was home made. We both had steak, which was cooked exactly how we asked. Highly recommend this pub for 2 reasons, the food was delicious all fresh and home made. Second, the staff are lovely, very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you.

Randomly chose this pub for my birthday lunch ... feeling rather smug as it couldn't have been better in any way. The food was excellent and very good value (bread pudding❤️), a wonderful live folk music band was playing and the selection of CAMRA ales was incredible, luckily we had a flagon in the car so bought 4pints of Humpty Dumpty's 'Little Sharpy' to take home. The staff were so utterly lovely and friendly; just a perfect experience! Thank you to all.

Lovely, homely pub with good food, good drink, and a good feeling. First off - they have one of my favourite beers - a Porter from the Earl Soham brewery, so that put me in a good frame of mind immediately. Service was excellent- really nice people. Food arrived quickly - bearing in mind that the pub was getting busy and everything is cooked to order. The food is good, wholesome and tasty - and a lot of it too - just how I like it. In other words - not a fancy place where the less you get the more you pay. I'm looking forward to revisiting.

As a group of 4, we arrived without a reservation on Saturday at around 12.30pm. When we went up to place our order at 12.40pm we were advised there was a 40 minute wait on meals. We decided (unfortunately) to order and wait. A group of 4 with a reservation, arrived at the table next to us about 15 minutes later. The hostess came to their table and took their order. Their cooked meals arrived about 20 minutes after they had ordered. Our single ham ploughmans plate and 2 jacket potatoes arrived at 1.45pm! On leaving, my curious husband enquired why the table next to us got their meals without the “40 minutes” wait and was told it was because they had pre-ordered. When hubby challenged this and advised that was not the case, he was told “they requested their meal be delivered at a set time”! Seriously. Not the way to attract or encourage walk ins. Here was I, thinking a reservation meant you got a table at a set time. At this place it means no matter what time you order, you get your meal before those who’ve arrived and ordered before you. As a side, it was the worst ploughman’s platter I’ve ever had at an English pub. After being told it would be big enough to share, “with a bowl of chips”, it was not. It was one slice of ham (very nice) 2 dry pieces of bread, 2 small pickled onions, some stale and crushed corn chips, 2 pieces of ice burg lettuce, grated carrot and 2 pieces of tomato and a soft, browning apple with a side of chutney/pickle. Definitely not worth the £12.50 we paid. If we hadn’t already waited 45 minutes, I’d have complained and sent it back. WILL NEVER GO BACK!

A great evening last Thursday for the "Steak Night" with attentive staff on a busy night. Says it all when you have to book a table ahead even mid-week. As ever a great combination of good ales, great fresh-cooked pub food and excellent service. My steak was cooked to perfection and the scampi was great too (I stole some of that off my fellow diner much to her annoyance!). Must do a Sunday lunch again - always a winner that especially when we have people to stay. Why cook at home when can get as good/better at the Buck - and no washing up afterwards!!!!! Really fortunate to have a good traditional pub close to hand with friendly locals!

This is a lovely pub and the beer was v. good too but cannot say the same about the food. It was dreadful. The fish pie was just a large lump of mashed potato with very little fish, just a few slithers and no sauce. Steak and ale pie, dry meat and no liquid in the pie. Only gravy was by adding that which came in a jug. The vegetables were overcooked. Very much like those from the 1950's. Very disappointing and overpriced. We wont be returning.

Seems like a lovely building, but their website description of "spans six areas" may be a bit misleading! The room we chose to be in (quiet food night) had four tables which if they had had four seated at each, would have felt awfully crowded! Service was most certainly relaxed and friendly with no problems whatsoever. Food was tasty and generous although, again, their website description of a "vast selection" is certainly overstated! Madras curry, lasagne, and pork & apple burger with chips and a very tasty and generous salad, with watercress, were all enjoyed and reasonably priced. Dessert menu was written on a board, with "Chrunchie Sundae" (Crunchie?!!?) and Apple Crumble and Ice-cream well received. Dogs are welcome, and local dogs friendly and ready to accept rubs and pets! Pity the tables are not 'nicer' and the soft wall seats probably need re-stuffing! Towards the end of our meal a music group moved in to one of the "areas" and, although they may be popular with the locals, in a small cramped pub, it could have got a bit too much. We were ready to leave anyway. Not really a celebratory meal place, but good food.

My wife and I booked for our anniversary on the strength of previous Trip Advisor reviews. We weren't disappointed. My wife chose the steak and ale pie. It was a huge chunk of very tasty pie. I had the gammon which was also a large meal and cooked to perfection. Quantities were very generous and it was excellent value for money. Service was first class. Would certainly recommend it. The only negative was that for an anniversary meal it was rather noisy. There were some extremely noisy people in the public bar and at the other end of the pub there was a games room and jukebox so it wasn't possible to escape the noise. There's nothing wrong with a lively traditonal pub but perhaps not the place for a romantic meal!

Visited The Rumburgh Buck three times during a stay nearby in November. This is a proper rural pub with great home made food and a changing selection of real ales. Also available is a pool table and a dart board (remember them?) There are several rooms available to eat in inside the pub. It is very traditional so if you want overpriced "gastropub" menus where you pay £20 for three peas and a small carrot and have to look as though you are enjoying it, this is not the pub for you. If you want good, honest, well cooked pub food at reasonable prices and you like proper beer and a warm welcome, then this is the place for you, Does food at lunchtime as well with a very good value 2 course deal. Visited with friends early on a Thursday evening. The Buck is a traditional country pub popular with locals. We opted for garlic bread as a shared starter followed by main courses of ham salad, steak and ale pie and chicken goujons. All the main courses were tasty and plentiful, the steak and ale pie in particular being home prepared and a "proper" pie with pastry on the top and base. There was a slight delay between starters and main course but the waitress apologised and was due to the volume of orders reaching the kitchen at the same time. All in all a very enjoyable meal and very good value.

We ate at the Rumburgh Buck twice while staying in nearby self catering accommodation. There is a standard menu plus daily specials. Portion sizes are good and the food is home cooked. Favourites were the fish and chips and the steak and ale pie. The staff were friendly and efficient. Think the Buck could probably benefit from a refurbishment as the decor is v old fashioned and grubby. Stuffed animal heads on the walls are not to my taste and the toilets need updating. Prices were reasonable and I understand the beers were good. I found the cider a bit like a fruit cordial but I am no cider expert!

Good range of dishes on offer, from the traditional steak and ale pie (I had that, it was packed full of lean well cooked meat) to specials such as pigeon and smoked bacon lasagna. 5 in party, all ate different dish, not a crumb left on any. All thoroughly enjoyed meal. Contrary to a review I read here, the veg were well cooked, properly 'al dente' and interesting with red cabbage a pleasant addition to the more usual veg. Prices were good, a delight after London eating. The two sisters who now run the place deserve to make a real success of the place. Would happily eat (and drink) there again.

We visited Rumburgh for their village Fete and decided to have lunch at The Buck. I chose to have the Steak & Ale home made pie, my partner had the Curry. How nice it was to have a home made pie with shortcrust pastry instead of puff pastry. The pie was packed with prime lean meat, a delight. However, I was sadly disappointed with the vegetables, way overcooked and little taste. If the veg had been cooked 'al dente' then I would have given this food an excellent score. Personal taste ? My partner enjoyed her vegetable curry. This was a well run village pub with efficient friendly staff. A great selection of beer and cider. Prices were average. We would go back again

We have visited several times this week while staying in a holiday cottage. This is a gem, traditional local community pub, welcoming great beers. Pub games. Lots of stuff happening. We saw a mummers play, local musicians jamming and just missed the quiz Home cooked pub food, great pie and fish and chips. Friendly helpful staff, hope we can come back soon!

Great selection of local beers and ciders -not many places offer so many ciders on tap. Nice little beer garden and a great place to stop in when on a bike ride. Also offer food - burgers, fish and chips etc - not tried myself but looks good and friends say it is!

Lots of rooms, good range of real ales and ciders and nearly always a dark ale. Friendly staff and friendly locals. You can't help but talk to people. Always been a great venue for acoustic music. Headquarters of Rumburgh Morris and Old Glory Molly. It's pub grub but plenty of it. The fish is always good.

Now Rumburgh isn't on a main road, it's off the beaten track, so driving around north Suffolk you've got to keep an eye out for the sign posts. Lovely quaint place the village and the pub is too. Inside there are lots of little rooms with a couple of steps as you enter. Staff were friendly enough and it's run by Landladies. I ordered the pork Sunday lunch and Billy, my husband ordered the beef. I must admit when the dinner plates arrived with the slices of meat on and Yorkshire pudding, and roast potatoes, we both thought that it didn't look very much. But then the vegetables arrived and then the sauces. I can tell you now from the first bite of our respective choice of roast through all the vegetables, the taste was absolutely lovely. The baby potatoes were so full of flavour I wondered if they were steamed in their skins as this seams to be the trend now on cookery programmes. The carrots were sweet, the roast potatoes were tasty and the meat was succulent. I and Billy cleared our plates and were very satisfied. Mind you I had to order a dessert so I had dark soft fruit Pavlova with cream. It was was delicious. I would love to go back in the warmer months .I imagine it would get very very busy. After we'd eaten and Billy was paying the bill, I wondered round the place and took some photos. Even the punters were friendly to us, though I think it was my beret, my camera and my Geordie accent which they love down here. Next time we come, we'll have to try a midweek lunch. See my photos.

Good choice of local beers and cider. Dogs allowed, locals and staff friendly. Menu limited, no separate children's list. Food was hot. Wouldn't eat here again, but for a drink definitely worth a return visit.

We all enjoyed a lovely evening at The Buck, all staff so friendly and chatty. I was delighted to see nut roast on the menu. My husband and I don't eat meat, we eat fish occasionally but always like to have a vegetarian meal if available when eating out, nut roast is our favourite and we both chose this, it was delicious with a tasty tomato topping served with fresh vegetables. Thank you Kate and Gary for making us so welcome in your lovely pub and restaurant, so good to see an old village pub still with original seating and flagged flooring. A lovely pub, great hosts and staff. Will be going again very soon.

I’ve been here for a few afternoon teas and lunches. The food is always lovely and cooked well, the themed afternoon teas are always really fun and a great treat for the local area. However the staff are not very attentive, they give you your food/drinks and leave you! It states unlimited drinks but they don’t ask if you need more, they don’t even check if your food is okay or if you need anything. At one point my friend said ‘excuse me’ and tried getting the attention of staff at the table next to us and the staff member just walked away, when we finally managed to ask for more tea they huffed like we were an inconvenience. There were also loads of hairs on our food, I think they were blowing around because they just kept appearing, maybe because they allow dogs. It’s a shame because I love the afternoon teas but it has put me off.

Great meal had here on Saturday 😁 food was delicious 😋 We felt a little rushed though 🫤 our main course came when we were still eating our first course and was asked about dessert very quickly after finishing our mains🥴

What an excellent choice of meals, starters and main courses and a specific lunch menu too!! 5 of us all had different meals and a pudding each as well. Everything was perfect. Good value for money too. The pub has been decorated and furnished well - tables not too close together. And the staff were amazingly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Probably one of the best pub lunches we've had for years.

We were staying in wrentham for the weekend and called in for a pint on the Friday and saw that Saturday was a tapas evening. So we booked a table for Saturday. Both the food and service were excellent. We would definitely visit again when next visiting the area.
