Absolutely delighted to see dukes back up and running with fab decor ,great menu and lovely staff ,totally worth a visit. Was extremely busy so glad we had booked.

Has a lovely lunch, vegan burger was absolutely delicious, will definitely give back for that. Also a lovely vegan desert. A lovely young lady was our server, couldn’t have been more helpful. Also allergens listed for those with allergies. Would highly recommend.

Had fish and chips on Saturday, was excellent. Very busy but the staff did there utmost to serve as quick as possible. Very attentive and full of apologies because they were so busy. Will visit again.

We took our family to this restaurant and although the food was good the waitress was not. We had a wonderful meal.

Just been for Sunday Lunch and we had the roast chicken followed by two desserts. The food was excellent and presented beautifully. The staff were very polite and helpful. Would highly recommend this Bistro.

My partner and I initially went here for tea and cake. Very nice with good service and a reasonable selection of cakes. We then used the Bistro one evening and had an excellent meal. Great service as well. There were about six starters and, with a few specials, about ten mains. Also a good selection of desserts. I had the lamb which was very tender and fat free. My partner had the pork which was also quite fat free and crispy but edible crackling. Well worth a visit. Great food and service awaits.

We went for the best sunday roast today the food and service was the best ever the meat and dessert of lemon meringue was the best ever

Six of us went here for lunch after doing water sports at the centre nearby. The food was excellent and so was the service. 5 of us had the roast lamb and chicken and 1 had vegetable wellington. I had the quiche salad and chips. Everything is home made. Fully recommend.

What a little gem! We enjoy a lovely lunch here with 6 of us. Food was fresh and very tasty. It’s very well laid out to comply with the current Covid restrictions, very clean and comfortable, staff helpful and friendly and the fresh cakes are divine! Eleven hungry cyclists descended on Dukes mid morning without booking. The restaurant was quite busy but the staff and other customers moved tables right away to accommodate us. The service was excellent, the scones, and bacon sandwiches delicous and the prices were reasonable. A first rate stop.

A warm welcome awaits at this friendly little bistro. Good home cooked food served with a smile. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Have visited here multiple times, visited again with another couple a week ago and as usual the food was lovely the steak was perfectly cooked with great service, even better considering there was a large table of 12 or so, our food wasnt delayed in the slightest. This restaurant is well worth a visit

We became regular customer at this local Bistro due to the quality of the food (which was really exceptional). But for the last 2 times, we are really disappointed... The burger used to be served with a field mushroom and vine tomatoes. The burger today could had come from any other pub, absolutely bland! Every meal was not only delicious but the presentation was always very very good: also gone! A pile of lettuce with a few sliced cucumber replace the previous finely diced salad... Whatever made them change the chef, it is time to review the situation because the Bistro is no more the outstanding place that it was.

This eatery is just great with attentive, friendly staff and amazing food that is very well presented...

I hadn't been here in some time but returned for Sunday roast recently. I suspect it was either a different chef or someone was off sick. Serving staff seemed a little flustered and some meals weren't as good as normal. The whitebait was soggy, a crispy beef entree hard as nails and the main beef was of very fatty (see pics). The beef tasted fine though and rest of the meal was delicious. As always mains came with delicious, fresh vegetables. The yorkshires and gravy were great, as were the desserts. We were very surprised to see a male staff member come out of the kitchen to use the only toilet (in the dining area) with hair so long it was tucked into his trousers! We've always had fantastic meals here, so I suspect our issues were just a 1 off. They do some great value meal deals (entree/main) and bottles of wine start at £14. Food is usually local and changes seasonally. Despite a few issues on this visit, I look forward to returning.

It was open but was not serving hot food only sandwiches. I can buy a sandwich anywhere. Why be open if not serving cafe food. It didn’t say sandwich shop. Very dissapointing

Stopped for tea and cake during my walk around the coast of England/Wales. Delicious home made cake, lovely cup of tea, friendly staff, great ambiance.

I am a very fussy snobby eater and hate a bad menu along with horrible food.

Having driven past Dukes many times on the way to our holiday home I’ve always said this place looks nice so on Saturday I decided to go there for lunch with my Parents & I just wish I hadn’t of left it so long, a warm friendly welcome, the lunch menu had loads of choice, my parents both had the Quiche & the Chunky Chips were too die for & I had a Jacket Potato with Coronation Chicken, generous portions & filling & reasonably priced. We also took a piece of Bread Pudding & a Rock Cake home, both of which my parents said were delicious. We were so impressed that we booked a table for Easter Sunday. Well done Dukes.

My mother and I went here for dinner one evening. We were served quickly and there was a wide range of dishes to choose from. The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely return here, maybe for lunch or afternoon tea next time.

Another lovely meal. Roast lamb is to die for. So well cooked melts in the mouth. Very friendly helpful staff. What you can't eat they pack up for you to take home. Take a slice of cake home for tea aswell. Delicious

Always had sausage rolls for breakfast but you have changed the sausage meat and don’t cook them enough ( white pastry and pink uncooked meat in the middle ) 9th Feb. Cut corners loose customers.

Fantastic roast pork just spot on and very reasonable price. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. We will be back sooner rather than later.

We booked this restaurant as a group of six, the table was ready and the staff attentive. I found the special of ribs superb, the meat was tender and fell of the bones. The portion size was such I had to share. The steak and ale pie was very meaty with a shortcrust base and puff top with a pot of gravy.

Outstanding service and everything tastes so fresh. There cream teas are especially good, the scones are as big as saucers and the clotted cream and jam are out of this world.

Would 100% recommend this place. Went there on Sunday and had the most amazing roast beat pork iv ever eaten and it’s rwasonable prices for decent food. Would definitely revisit and recommend

We went here this evening and had a fantastic meal, steak was cooked brilliantly and the kids meals were not only delicious but great value too - they couldn’t get enough of the churros for dessert!

had caught my eye on a previous visit to st Ostyth and put on the must try list.Glad we did.On our first morning of holiday en-route to park resorts dropped in for breakfast.Choice from set menu i opted for english breakfast with a twist..was filling and tasty.we all left full to the brim and vowed to return which we did with a party of seven for Sunday lunch.Again great choice.I opted for prawn seafood cocktail followed by lamb.My plates were crammed ,plus plenty of choice from provided side vegetables (cauliflower cheese is great) to round off i had the apple crumble with custard which nearly killed me as my stomach expanded and legs wobbled from so much calorific intake.For the size of the party service was prompt and welcoming and the prices very good value for money.If they were located in london expect to pay 3 times the price.This place is a gem and i will definitely return to try the evening menu

Well, we gathered for a Sunday lunch at this rather under-stated restaurant and we were not disappointed - the food was excellent! I ordered the roast rump of lamb and it was probably the best lamb dish that I've tasted in many a long year. The service is efficient, the atmosphere is pleasant and the pricing is reasonable. And I mustn't forget to mention the cauliflower cheese - this is worth visiting this restaurant for on its own!

The location is really nice and great decor. However, I could've sat on a bed of nails and still been happy because the Sunday roast was something to behold. Book a table to be sure and come here as soon as you can.if you don't...well....you're insane. The service was friendly and wonderful too!

We love a good place to eat and this is certainly it. We have eaten here in the evening but thought we would try lunch. Friendly helpful staff, lovely atmosphere and great selection. We had the cream tea which just kept coming, we couldn't eat it all and took home a doggy bag, the sandwiches were nice and fresh, great selection, scones and cakes were perfect! Well worth a visit.

Visited Dukes today with my family and elderly mother. The food was delicious, service was great and they even moved us away from th window as it was far to hot for my mum.

Sitting outside on a beautiful day made a pleasant setting for our lunch. Menu was quite varied except for the potatoes, this was fine if you wanted chips as most meals were offered with them and a couple with mash potatoes but none with boiled or new potatoes. Meals were not as hot as they could have been and a bit more gravy with the liver would have been nice. Dessert menu was mostly "heavy" food, not ideal in summer, something lighter would have been great but only two options available - sorbet or scoops of ice-cream. Disappointing! All in all it was an ok meal, but could have been so much better.

We arrived in St Osyth after a 5 hour journey to find Dukes was the only place still serving lunch. What a great find. nicely cooked food served with a local beer. To say we were impressed is an understatement and am looking forward to visiting again when we are in the area and have more time to try a few items on the menu.

The food was so amazing!!!!!! So so fresh in every way .and home made chips!!! and the belly of pork infact everything was so nice it’s sad to be going home will be back this place is a must VISIT!!!!! Fantastic service thank you dukes

After a morning exploring the local area we arrived at Dukes tea room/bistro for a late lunch having missed lunch time at a couple of recommended local pubs. We were glad to see that it was licensed and also glad that they had no problem accommodating an unbooked table of 8 at a fairly odd time for food.

For the amount you get for breakfast and pay extra for a cup of tea. Was given an old £10 note in my change which is three months after they went out of circulation, went back for them to rectify this matter and was told ' i didn't serve you ' by the person in charge ' you will have to come back later ', the attitude of this woman was unbelievable, luckily the chef stepped in and resolved the issue.

What a gem this place is. Ended up having 3 meals here whilst we were staying in the area. Nothing was too much trouble and they catered for our unusual requests. Food was excellent and great value for money.

We booked table for 2 here for Saturday night, considering this is April, was very busy, not much room for walk ins, so booking is advised.

Four friends ate here after a walk nearby. The menu was extensive with lots of tempting selections. We had booked earlier in the morning. The staff were very friendly. Good portion sizes.

We absolutely loved it. I cannot say enough good things about it. The service was friendly and accommodating.

We stopped in here for lunch and was very happy with the quality of the food. I had the Ploughmans and it was really good, great quality bread and cheese and a nice selection of pickles etc. Cakes looked great but I was stuffed after lunch however I will be back in the future so will definitely sample next time

Looking for somewhere local on a Thurs evening we remembered this restaurant. We weren't disappointed at all......Portions were great and food was really tasty,I had chicken from the grill and my husband had the ribs.....more than enough for one person......only slight disappointment was the house rose....hostess was friendly and there was no rush to vacate our table.....

We visited with family for a birthday celebration, on a Sunday lunchtime. The restaurant was full and people were being turned away - glad we booked. The food looked and tasted amazing, a set menu for a fixed price - beautifully cooked and presented, definitely value for money. We were not made to feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble (even when we asked for extra gravy!). Great selection of wine and drinks. Very friendly, attentive staff - a big thanks to Amy. Family Sunday lunch was amazing. Plenty of choice of mains. Served hot, with fresh vegetables. Could ask for more vegetables and sources, if required. We liked the fact that you could select two or three courses at a set price. Good selection of drinks. We were not rushed and the whole setting was great for a family lunch for 8 people. We will certainly come here again, when we next meet up with the family. Thanks to all the staff especially Amy!!

Me, my partner and our twin sons (18 months old) visited the Duke after we were told that there was an hour wait at the Toby carvery in Clacton. We decided to try this place after reading all the positive reviews on tripAdvisor. We wasn’t disappointed. Fantastic roast dinner. Great service. Highly recommend.

We have been going to Dukes ever since it opened way back. We have never been disappointed with any of the food, beautifully cooked with loving care, and beautifully presented. We have chosen many different dishes from their menu over the years, which is always being updated too with new exciting ideas. It has a lovely atmosphere, and feels friendly and cosy, and we always have a lovely warm welcome when we go in there to eat. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners...All great.

My husband sister in law and I went for lunch on Monday. It was fairly busy considering it was a Monday but then the food is so good and word soon gets round. We were slightly disappointed when 2 of us ordered the fish and chips. I chose liver and bacon instead and was not disappointed it was delicious. It came with mashed potatos and fresh veg and very tasty gravy. My sister in law had the scampi whilst my husband chose the omelette. Which he said was very good. The young lady who served us was very friendly. Great food great service

Having had a wonderful lunch I was disgusted to see the waitress, after checking for marks, refold the linen napkins and place them on the table. How many people had used my napkin before myself. Not only did I witness this but my company did too. I was totally embaressed

Often pop in here for lunch when I fancy good, clean, well cooked food all served with a warm welcome. While I have been here for dinner and the food is good I do enjoy lunch times better- it may have something to do with the home made cake! Jackie's cakes really are the best and such a lovely selection of other home made items like large scotch eggs and the amazing quiche- it's sometimes hard to know what to have. Ellie is a real credit to the team! She is on the ball and remembers your face which instantly makes you feel welcome and that your business is appreciated. It's a lovely treat if you are staying at one of the campsites and is all cooked fresh! Sometimes wise to book to avoid disappointment. You will find this little gem full with locals who know a good thing when they see it!

Me and my husband had a three course meal and lovely wine and wow it was a great evening. The food was excellent and service was so nice and didn't feel rushed at all. Highly recommend anyone who would like a night out with good food try hear. Thank you it was great.

We came in here the other day after seeing the raving reviews, particularly for the pork belly. So thats what my partner and I ordered. One was good the other was dry and tasteless! The difference was night and day. My partners was juicy and tender and mine was dry as anything and tough to eat. Exact same dish. It's as if they had only one fresh portion so had to use another batch of pork that had been left in the fridge drying out? Who knows. Although the food was still okay the worst part was the service...It's why I bothered to write this review. The two front of house girls could not be bothered and seemed to lack excitement or to go out of their way for us. Our waitress took our order so quick with the least amount of interest & interaction. Once we got the food no one ever came back to check how it was, never came back to ask if we wanted table water, nothing! Then trying to pay they were both just chatting and ignored me, I had to partly interrupt only to get a blank look as to what I might be wanting when it was clear we were ready to leave and wanted to pay. To top it off the floors were very dirty even to someone like me that would never notice something like that. There was scraps and particles and what appeared to be wall plaster or white powder everywhere all over the restaurant floor. I do not know if we will go back unfortunately. It has so much potential...good value for money.

Haven't eaten in, only taken away, but the food has always been lovely and tasty. Good sized portions as well. Will be going back. Friendly staff.

As always the food was excellent and the staff efficient, but I still can't get my head round the fact we weren't allowed to have egg and chips, even though they have 'ham, egg and chips' on the menu. First time I've ever been denied it anywhere, even when 'ham, egg and chips' haven't been on offer. We were told that it was 'too much like a breakfast and we don't serve breakfast this late'. Personally I don't think I've ever had chips for breakfast but obviously it's the done thing in some circles!

Delightful bistro/tearoom with a varied food menu and a good choice of cakes and sweet things. Everything was so well presented - one small observation - would have liked the Rarebit bread to have been toasted as was rather 'doughy', otherwise all was most enjoyable with friendly and welcoming service. Will definitely visit again.

A beautiful, family run business .. food and was exceptional , staff were brilliant , they knew the menu and were really bubbly .The staff made the me feel really at ease . The food was fresh , good quality and reasonably priced, the portions were good size.Definitely a hidden gem in St osyth and worth a visit .They have a beautiful outside area that's well decorated and a free car park .Your never rushed and I always felt special.Big Thankyou to Simon and his family xx

This is a really sweet bistro that has specific menus depending the day and time of the week. The food is well cooked and the ambiance is relaxed and welcoming. The staff are great and attentive without being in your face. The only downside was that the food lacked seasoning - I tried all the food on our table and it all needed a good twist of salt and pepper to take this place up a notch.

What a delightful friendly little bistro. Just popped in for a sandwich at lunchtime. All very nice. As it is our nearest restaurant we wanted to check out what it was like for evening meals and Sunday lunches. From what I saw being served to others diners it looked very nice. We'll presented and plentiful.I also noticed they do a variety of breakfast and afternoon teas. We will certainly visit again.

Seven of us had a really good lunch today following a great walk. There was plenty of choice, starters, main courses or light lunches. Everyone was very happy with what they chose. Unfortunately none of us had room for the delicious looking cakes!

We had a lovely midweek meal with my elderly mother at Dukes. Having read the read the reviews on Trip Advisor we were looking forward to our lunch and were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming and friendly and our orders were taken with a smile. All of our meals were up to expectation in quantity and taste, and we had a lovely afternoon. Look forward to a return visit.

Dukes does a really great Sunday lunch for GF and non GF alike. If you are celiac and you let them know when you book Sunday lunch they will set aside some gravy for you before they thicken it with flour so you can experience the full roast experience!

Dukes is my go-to place when I am in need of some lovely food! Either a delicious takeaway sandwich,not just any Takeway sandwich it is always full to the brim(please never change this)or there famous sausage rolls.My favourite is there burgers they are like no other.taste superb!and as always reasonable prices,I will stay loyal to you dukes and so should everyone else!

Peter the manager accommodated a group of 22 of us. Easter Sunday lunch. Beautiful food, all happy. Gorgeous home made desserts. Reasonable kids meals too. Lovely staff. Port and Madeira flights available - which a few tried. Watch out- they're strong wines! Definitely recommend.

credit where credit is due, the Full Monty breakfast was without a doubt one of the tastiest breakfasts I have ever had. Freshly cooked eggs, sausage pate ( which was soooo delicious) bacon, field mushroom, tomato and beans- great value for money too. Will defiantly go back when we are in the area. Highly recommended.

The staff are excellent and very friendly. 4 of us had a meal at Dukes and we were very pleased with the presentation and taste of our meals. Dedicated parking is conveniently round the back as it is not always possible to park outside. Good surroundings and ambiance.

I have lived in the village 17 years and have never thought to visit Dukes in the whole time it has been there... I'm so gutted I didn't go before! It was absolutely beautiful; the setting, the staff and the food my nan, mum and myself enjoyed ourselves so much we were there for 2 hours and even took home some beautiful cakes for members of our families to try! Great, cosy and welcoming atmosphere and is perfect those looking for excellent value for money and good quality food! They have a lovely selection of meals, sandwiches, sweets, drinks... I could go on and on but basically it was amazing and I'll definitely be returning and taking all of my friends there too!

Visited today after bird watching walk across Lee-over-sands. Great selection of cakes, pastries, pies also cooked lunches. We chose a Cream Tea. Lovely home cooked Scone, butter, clotted cream, jam and pot of tea.. DELISH. Nice seating area, waitresses very pleasant. Nice and cosy. Food cooked on premises by owner. Well worth a visit...

Amazing food from fresh always see the chef walking in with meat from the butchers across the road there . . Always cater to our needs when we ask for different sauces that aren't on the menu !!! Also have gluten free cake couldn't fault it had it last week , breakfast there this morning and Sunday dinner booked for tomorrow amazing !

Popped in with a friend for coffee and a piece of cake. Both were really lovely. Friendly staff. Looked at menu and some of the dishes coming out of the kitchen and will defo be coming back for a lunch or evening meal. A little gem!
